Delicious HK style food with generous servings, very friendly wait staff, and plenty of seating. Something I wasn't expecting to enjoy was their tea. After talking to the waitress, we discovered it was lychee flavored black tea, much better tasting than most tea served at restaurants.

Went for steamed seafood but a lot of things are sold out (for lunch hours already??) or have to pre-order more than 24h before. The stuff we did order were prepared live so really fresh. Fried crab was also tasty. We ended up spending ~$60 per person so I'd say the store is actually $$$ if you go for steamed seafood. The menu items are quite expensive so not sure if it's worth it comparing to buying the same the same thing and steaming at home. There weren't a lot of people for weekend lunch hour, and while we were there, it seems like people in the kitchen are having a fight - a male and a female were yelling to each other very loudly in a dialect for ~30min, which strongly hurt our dinning experience.

The food here is unique and the price is reasonable. I like their free tea too. It taste like rose but in fact it is a lychee flavor. I like having the pork stomach and chicken with pepper soup to warm me up. Black bean clams were tasty and the mixed mushroom and bean fish had variety of items to taste. We didn't feel rushed out and just chilled, ate and drank slowly. This is a hidden gem in Daly City. There's even a parking lot.

Stopped by for lunch to catch up with an old friend and shared a couple of dishes. This place is too cute! Ambiance is chill and casual. The ceilings have decor of a combination of Disney and anime characters. Going to the gender neutral bathroom, there are different things on the walls, which are nice. We shared the Scrambled egg with Prawn Chow Fun and the Half Hainanese Chicken. So tasty and fresh! Love it when food comes out piping hot! Waitress was friendly, but did not speak much English. Good thing my friend is fluent in Cantonese and spoke to her well. When my son was done with his karate clinic, he ordered the beef chow, fun and mushroom and Chinese green, which were also so yummy! check out my pics and come here to see for yourself!

*Please note this is a review that I wrote in May 2019 that got lost in my drafts* Made reservations for a party of 4 and ordered the set dinner menu. Interesting concept, but at the end of the day it's just steamed food. They really need to work on customer service. No greeting whatsoever and they don't tell you the item(s) they are serving. They just plop it down on the steamer and close it. As soon as the steamer opens, they rush over to remove the plate and serve each person. One of the servers kept saying "soup" in Cantonese and English. Pricey for what it is and I don't see myself returning as there's nothing special about this place.

This is my second time coming here. My first time was before pandemic. I am glad that they have more menu options. The Hainanese Boneless Chicken is perfectly cooked and tasty. The Baked Chicken in Portuguese Style with Spaghetti is creamy and tender. The Crispy Pork Intestines is crispy but it had a very strong taste. I can't stand the taste. Not recommend this dish. Note: Dine in price is different than pick up order price. For example: The Baked Chicken dine in was $13.95 but if you order for pick up for same portions. It just costs $10. Almost four dollars different. The customer service is good. I definitely will come back for the Whole Chicken Menu $25 and the $10 menu. :)

We had a very delicious dining experience here, and will definitely return. We had the Hainanese chicken, gai lan, sautéed cabbage, spareribs, oxtail soup, spicy fish and pork knuckles - all well-prepared. Our server was quite attentive and gave us good recommendations. The eatery itself was clean and covid-ready. Tucked away in a small, boring strip mall, but with great food shops and plenty of easy parking. read more

The seafood were super fresh, but not cheap. The stream cooking technique is great for seafood. Most of our seafood dishes were delicious with the condiment sauces - spicy sweet soy sauce, cilantro, green onion, and minced garlic. We got the queen clam with vermicelli, fresh sea bass, fresh shirmp, and fresh oyster. The queen clam was a little undercooked but still ok. The rest were delicious! In the mid of our meal, there was some malfunction with our streamer. We got move to a vacant table. After we moved, another table was having malfunction. Just an coincidence? XLB was not good. Don't order it. We also got the premium beef wrapped the enoki mushroom. Way over cooked. Spare ribs - my friend loved it. We didn't stop there....daikon added to our chicken soup base, cabbage and vermicelli with extra minced garlic. The bill came out to be $290 with tips. A bit hefty for a regular meal LOL The dinner ended with the complimentary dessert. Some kind of jelly - not bad. I do have 1 complain of them placing our upcoming dishes by the restroom. It is an open area people can splash water (after using the restroom) at the dishes. Overall, our services were exceptional that was a bit unexpected. Even Koi Palace and other higher end chinese restaurant doesn't have. read more

Steaming meal is here. The cool thing about this new restaurant is the automatic glass dome cover. The seafood is fresh and definitely a try. Price is high because of live seafood, however, that price is actually fair for the live seafood. Staff is friendly. This place will get busy very soon. read more

Honestly I had low expectations, HOWEVER, this place was GREAT! Everything is made fresh and steam cooked in front of you. I highly recommend the seafood since that's what they're known for. Unfortunately I can only give 4 stars because of a couple of draw backs. 1. Because only one dish can be cooked at a time with the steam cooking, the wait time for an entire meal can easily last two hours plus (especially if you have a larger party) 2. Because of the long cooking time, the table turnovers are quite slow, so I highly recommend making a reservation. Although there are some negatives, I do highly recommend this place, the experience is quite unique. read more

$25 for whole chicken, soup and rice! What more could you ask for? Yellow rice was fragrant. I looooved the pork bone soup. Reminded me of my moms cooking. Chicken was delicious! read more

Very unique place. All of the food are steamed, mostly seafoods. Very fresh, good portion, and service is great. There is usually a lunch special so come for lunch! Dinner on weekends can be a bit crowded. Overall highly recommend! read more

Tried this place out. It's like tour typically hot pot, Korean BBQ, shabu, where the food is cooked in front of you, except everything is steamed and you are left with a tasty bowl of porridge down below. Genius! The food is great. Fresh is always better and feels healthier when steamed. You definitely need to create your own sauce to get the flavor you want. It's a little on the slow side, because you have to watch the stuff steam, and wait for each dish to finish. You can't be in a hurry, this is definitely a 2 hour dinner. I would say it takes a little practice to get the right timing down. The first time we cooked the premium beef at medium, it came out pretty rare, and then cooked it a little more and it was good. The second plate of beef we ended up overcooking. The stuff was pretty good though, good variety. I'll definitely come back. Make a reservation for the private room. read more

Their way of steaming the food in the steam pot using the special plates to collect all the essence of source makes the congee at the bottom more tasty. Also, this method of steaming the food in front of you proves that the food are real fresh. My recommendations are 5 stars. read more

Was excited to try this but it was just okay. The service, though efficient, was not very friendly. The food was just ok too. It was just me and a friend so we didn't order very much: live clam, chicken over rice, and char-siu buns. The concept was fun, but then we realized all they did was bring pre-made food to steam at our table. Not even sure if the buns were made in-house. I could've made this at home from frozen buns! The clams were fresh-tasting, but I prefer hainese chicken from What The Cluck. Overall, fun concept but didn't live up to the promise. read more

I haven't had such bad dine in experience for a long time. Went with my senior parents because my parents wanted to try the Hainan chicken. Went in Sunday night at 6pm where there was only 2 table dining in and 1 person waiting for Togo. The only waitress was busy picking up phone orders and had no time for us. We waited about 10 mins to finally got our order. Many to go ppl came in and out. Our main order of Hainan chicken and oysters clay pot did not come while we had finished the other dishes. Asked waitress and she told us chicken has sold out to the to go orders. Which they came after us. And it was 7:15pm already. First time to bring my old parents and waited more than 1 hour patiently for our dine in dishes . Never come. Also I don't understand why they gave us the table near the door with all the busy to go traffic. I requested to sit more inside the waitress said she is very busy and don't want to clean up the inside table for us. We left very disappointedly and honestly I was still a little hungry but more angry. Still have them good tip cause she was steering at me to pay the bill. I will never come back with such bad experience. read more

This restaurant could of gotten more stars from my husband and I but we felt a bit unwelcome. When we got there we didn't knew how the restaurant worked we got greeted but they didn't told us to sit. Till the waiter saw us again and said "hello" confused and asked if we had a Togo order and we said no that we where going to sit. She sat us down and took 30 minutes to come back and take our order. She had a hard time understanding us, but that is the lest of the problems. When she saw that are plate where full from the shells of the crab and lobster she brought us more plates that was a plus. But when we where paying she wanted us to give her the tip that she requested for. My husband was confused and I told him that she wanted the tip that she was pointing to not the tip that he wanted to give. The food was good but I felt that with a little more customer service we will not mind giving the tip she requested and a bit more. read more

Great courteous service. Great freshly prepared food. The servers take turn to cook in front of us and served us afterward. The seafood, assorted mushrooms and veggies are cooked to our taste but we get our own choices of sauces from the area and bring them to our table. Never seen this high tech cooking in front of us. Cool. read more

Pop kitchen is my go-to place for dinner :) great good great services !!!! We tried a few things (eg shells, chicken, eggplants, etc). All of them are good. If you want the congee base has more flavors to it, you will need to order the chicken. read more

The noodles were okay. But after half a bowl, the dish was really boring. It's like eating a big bowl of pasta Bolognese. A few bites if the same flavor and I wanted to have something else. The service was so-so. I was not offered the free tea (unlike my neighbors who were both males). I had to ask for it. At the end, I had to flag a server for my bill. The food here at Kajiken is not inexpensive. The line must be due to the dishes being different from traditional ramen with soup. But for me, I will likely stay on the savory ramen-with-soup-fan side rather be a sweet-dry-noodle fan side.

This place has very interesting concept in cooking their food. The food here was good and had good variety of seafood with good flavours even though it was being steamed. The staff was very friendly and very attentive. Our waitress gave us recommendations on what to eat and how to enjoy our food and would also tell us if we're over ordering. It's a bummer they are perminately closed. Hope they open a new location in Roseville, Granite Bay of Folsom.
