    Fish sandwich
    Deanna D.

So, I got caught up in the fish sandwich craze. I know, I know, crazy right. At least there were no extreme lines at every Popeyes like there were for the infamous chicken sandwich release. I really like this particular location, because it is never busy. It sits off of the road and is kind of hiding in the cut, so it doesn't get ridiculous amounts of traffic. The staff is friendly and the restaurant stays fully stocked. It's unbelievable how many Popeyes ran out of chicken, as if it isn't one of the only things they sell. Now, to the sandwich. It was wrapped horribly. I removed the special bag holding the sandwich and it literally fell through. I am not sure if it was supposed to be open on both sides, but it was. Luckily, I didn't drop it on the floor. The inside of the bread was pretty soggy, not sure if it was the tarter sauce or steam from the hot fish, but my sandwich was pretty much flat. The flavors were decent, the Cajun spices were just right, not overwhelming and they give you a pretty big piece of flounder. All and all, the sandwich was good, but it is nothing to write home about. But, with an entire meal costing less than 7 bucks, it made for an affordable lunch.

Instead of asking, "Can I have a name for the order?" The cashier wrote "Braids" on my receipt.

The food was actually halfway decent. I will admit that, but the service???? Not so much. I came in with a coworker for lunch and we stood away from the register as we were finishing our conversation about a work situation before ordering. The cashier stood at the register and said loudly "HELLOOOOO???? Are you ready to order???" So, I responded, "No we are not ready to order yet." He scoffed and turned to walk away while mumbling under his breath to what appears to be a male manager and other older female employee. There was no one waiting in line and we were not preventing anyone from ordering. There was only one other person who had ordered and was waiting on their meal. A moment later, we each ordered and the cashier was not friendly, but not overly rude either. When he handed us our separate receipts I noticed he had me identified as "BRAIDS". Instead of asking, "Can I have a name for the order?" The cashier wrote just typed in "BRAIDS" knowing it would appear on my receipt. My coworker was identified as "PURPLE" because he was wearing a purple shirt. All I can say is, "Chick-Fila would NEVER!" If the customer was bald or had thinning hair, should "BALD" or "RECEDING HAIR" be the way you identify someone? My coworker's order was made incorrectly twice and had to be returned but eventually it was done right. Hopefully this place gets some better customer service skills, but I won't be returning to find out. Good luck if you choose to dine here.

So since when is black eyed peas apart of the red beans and rice ? -_-

Letter C representing 2021 was…read morein Madison, WI, and like the 2021 runner-up A is for Aldi, C is for Chick Fil-A is also in Corridor Marketplace. My last 3 of 5 reviews are in this huge shopping center as I reviewed Catherine's restaurant from my recent visit; see my Thursday, 4/9 3-star of them. I've been living in Russett for 5.5 years and have been going to this Chick Fil-A sometimes. In fact, I went yesterday for lunch! I had a free sandwich & free brownie and bought medium waffle fries. That's one of the positives of CFA in general is the company & even this specific location will try freebies my way. I generally buy something to be nice. They will throw a free breakfast sandwich. I'll add egg (& sometimes cheese too) to the free chicken biscuit to bulk it up a bit. Very rare I've taken the time to buy a chicken biscuit; almost always get on the freebie. Generally, I'm by far the most likely to go at lunch, much less common at dinner. In 2021 I used to go to CFA more frequently as I like the customer service & food. However, in more recent years I've shyed away from CFA due to health consideration. While the CFA sandwich is delicious, there are a lot of random ingredients, which is a bit unsettling. So, that is a consideration. It's tasty, but can be dry in the middle. I got the grilled chicken sandwich before, but it's pretty bland. I've gotten salads before, but they are kind of overpriced for what you get. If I'm getting a salad, I'm far more likely to go to the Panera here in Corridor Marketplace. I've gotten the nuggets but generally do if it's free. Unlike the grilled chicken sandwich, the grilled nuggets are decent, but still the fried nuggets are superior. Also, their new mac n' cheese is surprisingly good too. Even when they are busy, they are efficient getting orders through both in the restaurant & the drive-thru. A bit of a negative is that CFA drive-thru causes some extra traffic on the shopping center road, but it shows it's a popular option. I visited this location at least once prior to living in Russett. On December 31, 2019, I was at my office in Columbia and had work travel to DC that afternoon. Normally, I would never take 295 and just take 95 down to 495 to 295 into DC, but Starbucks was running a promotion for a free drink at select locations for last few days of 2019. I saw on 12/31/19, the Starbucks next door was on the list, and I was like I'll go 95 to 32 to 295 to get to DC with the stop off MD-198 to get the free Starbucks. That day I had Chick Fil-A for lunch getting the chicken sandwich & chicken noodle soup as I was recovering from a cold. Their soup isn't great but ok, I'd recommend Panera in the same center for soup. I went to my local CFA with my girlfriend a couple of times. It's an easy and cheap option, but I'm far more likely to have CFA for lunch on my own when working from home on a weekday. The couple of times with my girlfriend were on Memorial Day Monday 2025 and another Saturday in 2025. Never on a Sunday as everyone famously knows They're Closed!...so Don't even think about going there on a Sunday, or you will be sorely disappointed. A former coworker in 2012 commented how he never gets CFA because every time he's craving CFA, it's a Sunday. Another noteworthy time I went was in January 2023 on a 2nd date. I wanted to go cheap as she was kind of annoying on the 1st date but she seemed interested in me, and she was a nice person, and I wanted to invite her to my place for whatever picking a cheap restaurant close to my home. Ultimately, in baseball terms, it was a 2B situation, and I didn't have any heart to pursing a 3rd date after all as it wasn't going anywhere anyway. Also, their Peppermint Shake during the holiday season is great! I try to get once a year. Their sweet tea & lemonade is solid too. In summary, Chick Fil-A has a nice staff. The food is mostly good with their yummy chicken sandwiches, chicken biscuits, & waffle fries. Salads are good. Some items are a bit weaker but nothing is bad. Also, the mac n' cheese is pretty solid. I used to get the yogurt parfait which was good, but it was a ripoff at some point in 2020's, so I stopped. Early 2020's, I ate there more, but a big negative by 2022 was that I needed to lose weight, and Chick Fil-A is pretty unhealthy with all the random ingredients, but it's still more good than bad considering great tasting food & nice staff.

I had to tell her several times that I did not want fries, I only wanted the grilled chicken nuggets. That's it, just grilled chicken nuggets. That's all I was ordering. I'm guessing that English is not her first language, but then why is she taking orders? The quality of the grilled chicken nuggets was great, that's not my complaint, I just am disappointed that I was originally charged too much for an order due to a misunderstanding by the order taker (who didn't seem to be willing to acknowledge her mistake). Believe me, I was not ordering fries, I never said anything like that.

My 2nd runner-up for the letter B for 2025, I wanted to give a shoutout to B is for Bubbakoo's Burritos. I remember seeing Bubbakoo's Burritos in the Baltimore area but hadn't been. Then, they opened this location close to my home. They opened just under a year ago. They had a BOGO deal opening week, and we went for lunch on Sunday, June 29, 2025. We decided on the quesadilla as we didn't want to overeat that day. Wow, it was delicious! My issue that day was that it took about 25 minutes just waiting to get my food. They were pretty busy but not horribly busy. So, I was kind of annoyed as we had a movie we were trying to get to after lunch and felt they should've been more efficient. I felt that it'd be unfair to give them a review based on that as I figured they'd work out their kinks in the coming weeks. On my subsequent visit in November 2025, I wanted to try their namesake item, Burrito. I wanted to try their burrito because it's not Bubbakoo's Quesadillas, Bubbakoo's Tacos, Bubbakoo's Bowls (which would still have the alliteration); it's Bubbakoo's Burritos! Wow, the burrito was big & delicious. Staff was friendly and efficient. Also, I had free cinnamon churros. Wow, those were amazing! I ate very well that day and skipped dinner that night, maybe a snack or something. It's rare I actually want a burrito, but this is place to get one! But their other items are great too, and I try to follow whatever deal I can get. I went a few more times since then both through mobile order & walking in ordering. I got the tacos before when they had a special, which were good. Quesadilla has been the most common thing I've gotten as I usually don't want to overeat. I did get the burrito again in 2026. I also tried their new beef birria crunch wrap (or maybe it's not new, but they were just promoting it). This thing is a big & filling hexagon shaped wrap of goodness. I loved it and got again when it was a $3 off deal. At regular price, it's a bit more expensive than some other items, but it's worth it if I was paying full price. Staff is always friendly and efficient. Mobile orders are generally ready at/before promised time or maybe only a couple minutes off, and I never have to wait too long when I go order there. In summary, all delicious food, some good deals, good rewards program, and I'll keep coming back.

While waiting, I noticed the food is cooked fresh to order on a large grill, which is always a good sign. The place itself is located in a strip shopping center with other food spots, stores, and even a laundromat nearby, so there's a bit going on in the area. There are also a few tables inside if you want to dine in. The Birria Dilla was good, flavorful and satisfying, and I'd definitely come back to try more items on the menu.

I became a Sip Club subscriber in June 2020, where you get upwards of 1 cup every 2 hours. I get a large iced coffee or iced tea typically. Before I moved to Russett, I had never gone to this Panera until August 2020 when I was looking to buy my place. Over the course of 4 years, I've been to this Panera many times. Vast majority of times I come in just for the drink & leave. But perhaps 5-10% Panera also gets a sale from me, typically I get one of their salads, but I've had sandwiches, soups, etc. Staff here is friendly for most part & usually if I'm just getting a drink, I tend to be in & out quickly even when line is long, they are pretty efficient getting people through. The manager sees me come in, & he will volunteer to get on a cash register to help out. A lot of managers out there won't do that. In MD City/Russett area, it's one of few healthy options (& only healthy if I get salad). So, this is often a go to place. A lot of the other places are fast food/ casual like Chick Fil-A, Chiptole, Burger King, etc. none of which are healthy. Chick Fil-A salads are small & similar price to Panera; Panera you get a good amount of salad with various fresh ingredients. If I'm going to Chick Fil-A, it means I want a chicken sandwich. If I want almost anything else, Panera would be the winner. Burger King is pretty weak, & occasionally like Chipotle & other places depending on what I'm in mood for (or if I have a deal). As for Panera salads, they do a good job at this one. I've been to some others where it wasn't so fresh or skimped on the food. Never had a problem except maybe once in 4 years where they didn't do the right substitution. I often got Green Goddess Cobb salad with 3 adjustments, no bacon (more chicken instead), no onions (cucumbers instead), & no green goddess dressing (Caeser instead). They do with no issue or upcharge for doing so. Also like Fuji apple salad. Over years, they've introduced new salads. I really like the Southwest chicken salad as an example. Besides salads, their sandwiches like Philly cheesesteak one is pretty good. It's almost as good as Charley's Steaks in same center. I've gotten turkey avocado & a few others out there. I feel sandwiches are often not enough meat to bread ratio, but still tasty. Soups are good here too, but I'm not a big soup person in general. My favorite they have is chicken & WILD rice; not sure what makes the rice so wild, but it's good. They also had the turkey chili, which is a bit more expensive, but often worth it if I want more meat & is good. I was upset they had taken away chili from their menu, but as of 12/4/24, it's Back! That might be my biggest complaint about Panera in general is that they have an item you really like & then discontinue it. I also like their chicken chipotle breakfast sandwich. It used to be a wrap, but they discontinued the wrap & was annoyed, but I like it better in Ciabatta bread it comes in. They also have bagels. On rare occasions, I've gotten bagel. One time in 2024, my girlfriend & I got bagel each & cream cheese each. It ended up being $7 for just 2 bagel/cream cheese. Panera charges more for cream cheese than for bagel itself, & what we realized is we should've split cream cheese as there is plenty in container, but considering I paid for my own, I loaded mine with all of the big container. This Panera is larger than the normal one going deep in back with lots of various seating 2 & 4 person booths, tables, etc. Other Panera can be pretty cramped especially in the afternoon because they are just a small location but still get a good amount of business. I'm thankful to have this one by my home. Because it's close to home, I've taken food to go a bit more than I've eaten in here, but as I said eating here is comfortable. With the ample size of the restaurant, it's kind of a community gathering place as I've seen people I know. Chipotle in this center & pretty much any location is pretty cramped. There were a few times I did my work in here like if my Xfinity service was out like today Wednesday, 12/4/24! My work wasn't too busy, so I had some time to write this. Also, my 2nd date with my girlfriend was here at Panera in February. Since then, we've been here together often at least for the drink & have eaten in here too. Our 2nd date we got &Pizza in the same center, & I said it'd be roomier if we ate our pizza here in Panera, which I justified as I was getting my Sip Club drink so technically a customer, and knew they wouldn't be that busy on a Thursday night. Overall, Panera is great especially this location.

I've lived about a mile from this BK for about 6 years, and I think I can count on one hand the # of times I've been here. When I was in college, I used to get the original chicken sandwich often in the student union. In the 2010's, I went to the one in Columbia, Jessup, & Halethorpe close to my work at various companies semi-regularly as the Columbia location was particularly convenient in 2015-2017 job, and I'd tend to get the regular chicken sandwich. See my 4-star of the Columbia one on Snowden River written in 2016. In the 2020's, I've shied away from BK as the food quality is kind of mediocre. I don't think the chicken sandwich I used to enjoy is as good anymore. It's decent enough. But if I'm going to get a chicken sandwich, I'll go to Chick Fil-A a couple of doors down. I still have a slight preference for the chicken sandwich over the Whopper or other burgers here. I've had a Whopper at this location at least once, and it's not bad, but too much bread. As far as burgers go, there's only 2 burger places within 2 miles of my home, this & McDonald's, and I'd choose BK over McD, but neither are particularly good choices. If I'm getting a burger somewhere, it's out in some other area like Shake Shack in Columbia, BurgerFi in Columbia, Habit Burger in Bowie or MoCo, etc. In January 2022, they had a deal to try their Impossible Burger, a vegetarian burger for like a $1. I was game to try, not bad, only like 10-20% worse than their normal mediocre burger. Staff here is cordial, never had any major issues. They tend to run a bit slow especially when busy, but nothing out of the norm. Fun fact, side note: For 2.5 years, I've been in a relationship with my girlfriend, and it's been an ongoing joke to threaten her saying one of these days I'm going to take you to BK. I still haven't followed through on that threat, but one of these days I will, and we will probably enjoy the food well enough. But I said to her I got to have some catalyst like a deal or something to get me in the door and/or in the mood for that for the convenience or whatever.

If service was better at this place then it may possibly be a prime location to visit more often…read morefor food. So, I went here to get a quick bite after running a few errands. I usually would not out for something a little more healthy but I said, "hey why not." I considered it an option cause I don't mind the wings, thus my reasoning. I stopped here and grabbed Cajun wings and fries with a bottle of water. The food was decent so that's not really my complaint. It's more of the customer service, they are pretty fast but it's like a rush. I received my food to go so it wasn't a thing of me sitting there. But due to them rushing me they didn't accommodate or ask if I wanted condiments. I had no napkins in the bag and I received no ketchup or sauce for my wings. So with the closing of this yelp review essay, the food is hot, fast but the customer service struggles. Hope this helps others, please emphasize that you want napkins and condiments before you leave. The space is clean also, in case you just wanted to know.. Have a great day! DG
