It is a little whole in the wall. I have always wanted tho try their chicken. Orders are placed on a computer screen. They have a tv screen showing the status of orders. There are four chairs facing the window. Their rent must be peanuts given the size of the place. I had the Mac and cheese and a chicken sandwich. The spicy version. the Mac and cheese was creamy with lots of cheese. I wish the macaroni was cooked el dente. It was cooked to much so it was mushy. The sauce was included on the chicken burger. Popeyes is a nationwide fast-food chain famous for its Louisiana-style fried chicken with Cajun seasonings, but my personal experience didn't quite live up to the hype. For me, the fried chicken has consistently been too greasy and heavy, feeling overly indulgent every time I eat it. I do agree that their sauces are a strong point, they have a wide variety, and the sauces like Blackened ranch are good. Finally, a Popeyes closer by! Plenty of onsite parking in the sizeable lot, right next to Bertucci's and a Starbucks. There is NO FRONT DESK for you to order. You order on a machine or prior hand via their app or website. That means if you prefer more thighs instead of wings (or anything like that) you're out of luck. You get what you get. Service is super slow here despite a ton of staff working here the couple of times I've went there. Definitely order ahead. However, the staff are friendly. The fried chicken is tasty, as are their wings. Meat is tender and the skin is crispy. Mac and cheese is good. Cajun fries were a miss for us as it was not crispy at all, so I'd skip it. I also tried their tenders (regular and spicy) and they were not good. Tasted dry and bland with no crisp. I'd skip those. read more

I have been waiting not-so patiently for this location to open. Finally!....its open, hallelujah! This small location is located in Newton Corner in the Bertuccis parking lot. This is like a mini version of the other Popeyes I've been to. It's one small room with 3 ordering kiosks and a pickup window. There are no live human ordering registers, it's all done thru kiosk. There is seating for 3 against the front window and THE longest hallway, that I think? Leads to restrooms? I went in the late afternoon so it wasn't too busy but I can imagine it being super chaotic during lunch and dinner. I think the key is to order ahead! We didn't have to wait too long but you could tell they are still trying to find their stride. The gentleman expediting the food was doing a great job while doing a million things at once. Our chicken sandwiches were great! I love how it's so crunchy and not super greasy and has a nice little wrapper to keep your hands clean. The fries didn't stay crispy due to a long car ride but they still tasted great and love their ranch dressing! read more

No idea what's going on here. The whole setup is so painfully disorganized. It's basically take out... so it's hard to understand how they don't have a process optimized. This was my third... and FINAL... visit. Ordered way ahead in the app... at 5pm... asked to be ready for 6pm... arrived to have to hunt down someone to even tell me the order wasn't ready. Watching people come in and be confused. If your name was called before you got there... oh well... the order will pile up on a shelf behind the counter that you can't see. And there's no way to see without hoping someone comes to read the names again. Oh... and they'll get frustrated... because they have to keep calling out the names again and again. So finally 630pm rolled around and my order was ready. If you need to be on time to somewhere then don't order here ever. This happened all 3 times I've visited. It is a hot mess. Having so many locations, I'm amazed Popeyes doesn't have a smooth system. This can't be their first rodeo. I watched so many customers come in and out, unable to get their order or having to track down someone to see. To make matters worse the TV showing orders apparently wasn't accurate as the guy behind the counter announced multiple times. The food is just OK. It's fried chicken and sides and biscuits. Definitely not worth the hassle of the disorganized chaos. I've never seen an organization this lost in dealing with orders. Great tasting chicken, although food took 45 minutes for our order and other people order, and the website when we clicked on "drinks" for a meal, it was glitching. The screen on their tv for orders, did not put "order ready," and our order and the other patrons(10+ people inside waiting for 45 minutes+), had our order number and name disappear on the "in progress" instead of the "order ready". Ooh I was so excited to finally try out this Popeyes location, but was a bit disappointed because my order was missing items. I ordered a 5 piece chicken dinner for two combo, with 2 sides and 2 biscuits, and I only received 4 pieces of chicken and 1 biscuit. Besides feeling like I got ripped off, the food was pretty good. Still the best fried chicken chain around so it was still okay. The service was a bit slow- we ordered at 5:45 and ended up getting our food around 6:30. Honestly though the service won't deter me from getting my fried chicken cravings satisfied, so I didn't really mind waiting. Especially during lunch/dinner rush, I'd recommend placing an order online at home through the app, waiting a bit and then getting to the storer 30-40 mins after the estimated pick up time. 3 stars for now because the location is new and hopefully things won't be missing from orders as the folks working there get more experience. Just opened this week (Dec 2024). Ordered online- 2 piece chicken and it comes with a yummy biscuit. You can order regular or spicy- white or dark meat. I prefer their batter over KFC- lighter and tasty spices. I walked by at 530pm and 2 customers were ordering. I placed an order a bit later and showed up at 630pm- 18 customers waiting for food. Have to give them a bit of grace- they just opened. Despite the wait, the staff was friendly and helpful- and clearly working hard as they open the new restaurant. Free parking- same lot as Bertucci's and Starbucks. Loved the chicken and biscuit. I hear their coleslaw is amazing but I didn't try it. I tried Popeyes for the first time ever just recently. I got the popcorn shrimp, which were really very bad. Tasted more like good fried pieces of batter could not taste any shrimp. I got the chicken wings. I would say they were OK. I would not get them again, and I got the chicken sandwich, which is pretty good but I didn't think it was amazing. Maybe a little better than McDonald's chicken sandwich and not quite as good as KFC's chicken sandwich no rush to go back. read more

This establishment charged me $50 for food but only gave me half of what I ordered in the bag. I tried to repeatedly called them back and nobody picked up, being that I live 20 minutes away. I wasn't going to drive all the way back, instead the next day I tried to contact corporate to try to get half a refund on my order since I did not get what I paid for, they denied half my refund and tried to give me points on my account stating they did not have a way to refund back to my card on file. What kind of a corporate company robs their customers like this! if you can't refund on the app you created then why allow clients to use it? may god punish the man who designed this Popeyes. I would give a zero star if I could, worst restaurant experience of my life, at least when I have gotten food poisoning in the past, I didnt have to wait an hour and a half for two sandwiches. The only interface with the staff is a small cabinet for take-out orders, which is completely unmanned, and only frequented by an employee every 5-10 minutes. After 45 minutes of waiting, I asked an employee about my order, who just repeated my name and laughed with the other workers, and I had to follow up again 20 minutes after before they actually started to make the order. 20-30 people had come in, ordered on a kiosk, and gotten their orders before they had started cooking mine, which was finally ready an hour and twenty-seven minutes late. The guy running the operation spent more time complaining about his long day at work, saying how he had been there since 9am and it was 6pm. Someone should get him a podcasting studio so he can get paid to share his courage. If he spent half this time asking customers which order they are waiting on, this place may have earned 2/5 stars. An insulting experience for costumers, I will be there celebrating when it is closed. read more

I was very happy when Popeye's opened in Newton 6 months ago, but I won't be going here anymore. I could deal with the ridiculously long waits and the misleading electronic board which implies that your order is ready when you walk in (although you'd think they would have worked this out by now). But recently the food has been terrible. On my last 3 or 4 visits, the chicken tenders and chicken breasts have been overcooked or undercooked to the point where we couldn't eat them. And twice they gave us the wrong dessert. I'm going to go back to the West Roxbury location and hope the service and quality hasn't changed. read more
