Dinner Salad with zesty Italian
Trey M.

you went to Baylor, you know Poppa Rollo's. This place is pure nostalgia wrapped in mozzarella. Every time I walk through the door, I'm instantly back in my college days--ducking into hidden rooms, watching the old Three Stooges clips looping on the TVs, and smelling that glorious mix of melted cheese and crispy crust. The pizza? Unreal. Cheesy, loaded, and unapologetically messy in the best way. The Four Meat Pizza is a carnivore's dream--piled high with every delicious topping they can fit on a crust. And speaking of crust, do yourself a favor and ask for it crispy. That's the magic move. We always start with a dinner salad--mostly to feel like we're doing something healthy before demolishing half a pizza. The service can be a little slow when they're packed, but honestly, it's part of the charm. Grab a drink, soak in the chaos, and wait for greatness. Poppa Rollo's isn't just a pizza joint. It's a Waco landmark. Quirky, delicious, and full of character--just like it's always been.

A Waco legend ! I love the pizza at Poppa Rollos. The original location on Valley Mills Drive is my favorite. The decor has been around much longer than most of the college students have been alive but that's what makes it fun. I learned to drink beer here long time ago at Baylor. Mary and Roland are the owners and amazing people. Don't miss them when in Waco.

Came to get some pizza for dinner. Came in to order for take-out. The guy at the front counter was nice and got us our order quick. We were even able to get some ranch dressing. The pizza was flavorful and had a lot of cheese. They definitely did not skimp on the toppings.

Can anyone tell me how to get Valley Mills location to answer the d@mn phone? It's 6:30 on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. I need to know when the cutoff for placing pickup orders is tonight. The website does not show Holiday Hours

They tasted just like a tortilla chip though soooo... I think 2$ is more appropriate (menu also had GF at 4$ and then we were charged 5$ at the end in which I thought I'd be getting gluten free bread too but alas, the app was really really good - a friends complaint is that it could use more lemon flavor, I can see that too) I was also charged 4$ for my gluten free pasta, but the dish was so so so good. The creamy sauce was absolutely incredible. I had the shrimp scampi along with a blueberry syrup mocktail and I was completely satisfied. Also had a taste of the blueberry martini which was also very good. My friend had the lasagna which she rated at 3 stars and said it was overcooked but the sauce was good. My sister had the lobster ravioli and it was undercooked, too al dente for her liking and was dissatisfied as it was the most expensive thing on the menu. My sister would go back, my friend would not, and i definitely would. Service was very nice. I just looked at my receipt and there is a charge for "rustic bread" so I'm not sure what that is... did they charge us for both the GF crackers AND the bread that should have been included in the appetizer? That's also not cool.

After reading some mixed reviews, I was a little nervous about trying this place, but since my daughter had been here before, we decided to give it a shot -- and I'm so glad we did. The restaurant was very busy that night, and the staff let us know upfront that our pizza could take up to an hour. To our surprise, it arrived in only about 30 minutes, which we really appreciated. The view of the river was absolutely incredible and made the whole experience amazing during the golden hour. While the pizza wasn't the best I've ever had, it was still good and definitely hit the spot. The atmosphere, scenery, and honest communication from the staff made for a really enjoyable evening.

This was a pretty average pizza place overall. I went in expecting a little better quality,…read moreespecially based on what I'd heard. My first impression wasn't great because the restaurant could use a more thorough cleaning. There were several open tables when we arrived, but all of them were still dirty and hadn't been cleared off yet, so we had to wait before we could sit down. As for the pizza, it's decent, but nothing particularly memorable. One thing they do get right is the ranch dressing, it was actually really good. That said, they bring out so much of it that it almost feels like they're encouraging you to cover up the flavor of the pizza. We also ordered some appetizers. Unfortunately, the fried mac and cheese bites were disappointing. The filling tasted very similar to boxed Kraft mac and cheese that had simply been breaded and deep-fried. I wouldn't order those again. One highlight is the outdoor patio overlooking the river. It's a great place to relax, enjoy the fresh air, and have a few beers with your pizza. Overall, this place has potential. If they focused more on cleanliness and improved the quality of some of the food, it could be a much better experience.

I've had the Chicken Parmesan pasta, the Margherita pizza, and the Pepperoni pizza. Each of them was above average. The Chicken Parmesan came with a nicely breaded and cheese-covered piece of chicken with spaghetti and two pieces of garlic toast. It was good, though it could have used a little more red sauce. Pizzas are available as 20" or 14" pies, and certain ones you can get by the slice. The crust is medium thickness, light, with a soft core and a crispy outside. The Margherita was good but I preferred the Pepperoni. Overall, both pizzas were above average. I especially liked the crispiness of the outside of the crust. They also have salads and wings. Dessert consists of cheesecake or funnel cake fries. I haven't tried any of these yet. There is an inside dining area, a bar area, and an outdoor patio area. The inside is shared with Common Grounds coffee shop and Heritage Creamery ice cream shop, a couple of other local favorites.

I am writing this while waiting in line. I will write as much as I can whilst waiting in line. I…read morehave already been here for 20 minutes, and honestly it feels like time is moving in slow motion. It's one of those moments where you start off impatient, checking the time every thirty seconds, thinking the line is going to magically start moving faster just because you're watching it. But then you hit this point where you realize you're stuck here no matter what, so you kind of settle into it. It's like accepting defeat, but in a peaceful way. It's funny how waiting in line exposes how restless I can be. I'm so used to jumping from one thing to the next, always thinking ahead, always planning. But right now all I can do is stand here, shuffle forward an inch every couple of minutes, and come up with random thoughts to keep myself entertained. I keep looking around like something interesting might happen, but everyone else looks just as bored and zoned out as I feel. There's this weird shift that happens when you're stuck waiting: your brain starts drifting to stuff you don't normally slow down enough to think about. Like plans you haven't made yet, conversations you need to have, things you've been putting off, or even just how tired you are. My brain is bouncing between "I hope this line goes faster" and "maybe this is good for me." It's almost like being forced into stillness. I can hear the little hum of people talking, the random coughs, the footsteps sliding on the floor, and it all blends together into this background noise that makes the whole moment feel strangely calm. I'm not doing anything productive, but I'm not wasting time either. I'm just... here. Present. Waiting. And sometimes I think moments like this are actually underrated. You get space to breathe, even if it wasn't your choice. And the longer I stand here, the more I realize how often I rush through my days. I always want to get to the "next thing." But right now there is no next thing. There's just this slow-moving line, and me trying to make something out of a situation that would normally annoy me. Honestly, it's almost therapeutic to just let my thoughts spill out without overthinking anything. It's like I'm giving myself permission to just ramble and process whatever pops into my head. If anything, this might be the most productive part of my day, not because I'm accomplishing anything, but because I'm actually slowing down long enough to check in with myself. And the line still hasn't moved much, but I'm starting to care a little less. Maybe I'll be here another 20 minutes. Maybe longer. But at least I'm turning it into something instead of just staring at the back of someone's head and wishing I was somewhere else.
