There's even a second room with a gorgeous long bar that gives off upscale neighborhood hangout vibes. Service was flawless from the start. We were seated immediately and had water in our glasses within minutes. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and somehow had us in and out in about 40 minutes without ever making us feel rushed. That's an art form. Drink-wise, my boyfriend was happy to find some local beers after our brewery-hopping adventure earlier in the day. I ordered a cocktail that sounded good and asked if they could make it spicy... maybe throw in some jalapeños or something. They didn't just accommodate, they elevated. They swapped in a spicy-infused spirit, and it paired perfectly with my wood-fired roasted corn pizza topped with cilantro and jalapeño crema. Absolute flavor bomb that paired perfectly! My boyfriend's meatloaf with mushrooms and mashed potatoes was equally impressive. No notes, just clean plates. We started with the ceviche, and it was outstanding. Fresh, bright, and so flavorful that we started dipping our homemade pita into it. Speaking of the pita, that was honestly my only minor miss (and it wasn't even a miss lol). As a carb enthusiast, I wanted a little more salt and flavor, but that's nitpicking in what was otherwise an exceptional meal. Hearth & Herron is the kind of place every small town wishes it had. We completely understood that we were early and would have been more than happy to wait for a seat to open up. Instead, the receptionist seemed visibly annoyed that we had arrived when we did and spoke to us rather dismissively, suggesting that we go to a bar down the street instead. We ultimately took that suggestion and went elsewhere. We ended up having such a pleasant experience at another restaurant that we decided to stay there for dinner and did not return for our reservation. It was disappointing, especially because we've enjoyed the food at Postero in the past. We weren't expecting to be seated early or accommodated immediately, just a welcoming interaction while we waited. Unfortunately, the way we were treated made us feel as though our business wasn't particularly wanted, so we chose to spend our evening somewhere that made us feel more welcome.

Remodel is cute, but the lighting is way too bright! Waitresses are more concerned with gossip and small talk with regulars. It would be nice to see a smiling face or a friendly welcome when arriving. The food is typical diner fare and is always pretty consistent. ehhh ok in a pinch if you're craving breakfast... just wish the service was better. After living here for a year we finally made it to Pops. The first thing that strikes you is how spotlessly clean this diner is. You could eat off the floors. Second thing is the service. Everyone knows how fresh pops diner food is. My favorite thing about pops they don't start cooking your food until you order it. Unless you are a regular and the kitchen see you they will put it on without even telling a server. I like that it's a local owner and staff. All staff has ties to wnc and Henderson county especially. The 50s decor is amazing. read more

I like the whole diner theme, but its' really overpriced and not worth the $$$ The waitresses aren't very friendly. The floor is filthy and they always insist on sweeping while people are eating, which is just gross.
