We ate here during the Taylor swift pop up in 23. The happy hour was great. We had Mojitos and nachos, which were very tasty.

Always enjoy trips here. The food is always solid. Staff are friendly. And the place is clean. The setting is great for hanging out with friends. There's some free parking in the back or street parking outside the restaurant on the main road. Everything I've had has been good. Since they're expanding into bowls, my wife, son, and I tried them. I went with the churrasco bowl and a cup of kickin' brisket chili, my wife the Hawaiian, and son the chicken adobo; all were very good.

The food shown here was $27 before the tip. Be careful because the brisket isn't included in the lunch special, so you'll be charged extra. The sandwich was small but decent quality, mac & cheese was good, but the macaroni salad was not good at all. The noodles were very undercooked to the point where they were hard to chew, and there wasn't much flavor either. I'm also not a fan of places that ask for high tips while basically being a fast food with no service (you pick up your food, refill drinks, and trash it at the end).

We came for their restaurant week special and we enjoyed everything! I think we wished for a few more options in terms of sauce but we enjoyed the Mac and cheese and coleslaw. The blueberry cheesecake was super yummy! Our bartender was great and we enjoyed the layout and how much space there was. There is indoor and outdoor seating and street parking!

Pork barrel has amazing barbecue ribs. I try to get them every Wednesday since they have a half price special. They also have an amazing selection for their happy hour menu. I love the ambience. It's very American country feeling and all servers are very nice. I'm a regular and so should you!

Fabulous BBQ! Big selection of meats, BBQ sauces, spice levels and sides. Indoor restaurant is large and has plenty of seating. There are four picnic tables outside to enjoy the sunshine. The service was great - very informative in explaining all the specials.

Not gonna lie, I wasn't expecting much from a fast casual barbecue place in Alexandria, but I was delightfully surprised at the quality of food, especially for the price. I ordered the platter with 2 meats, 2 sides, and it also came with cornbread. The brisket was definitely not the best, but better than anything I've had this northeast in the country. I really loved the pulled pork, and it paired nicely with the array of sauces available. I was surprised at how much of the sides you get--and honestly they were pretty tasty! The mac and cheese has a little kick and using cavatappi was a nice touch. The baked beans were really good and had a little meat in it, which clearly shows how much love went into it. Considering how much takeout is these days, I appreciate having a decently priced option for dinner!

Went here for lunch while we were in the area. End up getting a 3 meat plate to share. It came with two sides and cornbread. In terms of meat we got brisket (was ok not great), burnt ends (were dry and hard), and pulled pork (by far the best meat but nothing amazing). The sauces were good to with the meats. The sides were probably the best part of the meal sadly. We had the potato salad and the baked beans. Overall I wouldn't recommend.

Walked in and was immediately greeted. I expressed I was walking by and it smelled good, so here I am... we giggled and I was shown the menu and the best options for a starter. Ended up with a pulled pork sandwich with a ceaser salad. I split the meal with my JR so he of course tried all the sauces available on the table. George makes the best fresh lemonade.

I hadn't been in to Pork Barrel BBQ, but since I was in town and hungry decided that I'd make the trip and am glad I did. I got a spot at the bar and was quickly greeted by the bartender. She was very attentive. There was a problem with the tonic from the dispenser which she couldn't fix. She was very apologetic and offered to comp me a drink because I didn't want any other alcoholic drinks. The place is comfy and looks just like a BBQ restaurant should. I ordered the 2 meat platter- choosing burnt ends and brisket. The sides were classics for BBQ; creamy coleslaw and baked beans. They added a chunk of moist cornbread to my platter to round things out. The BBQ was exactly how you'd like it. Tender, smoky, and delicious. I won't wait as long to return next time!

We also got some char-grilled oysters that might have had a bit too much spices and seasoning on it that it got quite overwhelming. I ordered the two-meat meal with pulled pork and brisket, fiery mac & cheese, sweet BBQ baked beans, and cornbread, plus an iced tea. With tip, the total was $32.04. At that price, I expected a genuinely good BBQ meal. Instead, I left wondering how a place known for BBQ could miss the mark so badly on the meat. The pulled pork was simply bland. There wasn't much smoke or seasoning coming through, and very little about it stood out. The one positive: it wasn't dry. Then there was the brisket, which was by far the biggest disappointment of the meal. It was sliced extremely thin--almost like lunch meat--and had quite a bit of fat that didn't appear to have rendered properly. Yet somehow, despite all that fat, the meat itself was incredibly dry. Good brisket should be tender, juicy, and have properly rendered fat. This was none of those things. Quite frankly, it was some of the worst brisket I've had in years. Ironically, the BBQ sauces were considerably better than the BBQ. You get a choice of Original, Honey Chipotle, and North Carolina Vinegar. I really enjoyed the spicy, smoky-sweet flavor of the Honey Chipotle, but the Original was easily my favorite. That sauce was excellent, and I'd happily put it on another meal. The sides were a mixed bag. The sweet BBQ baked beans were decent and had good flavor. Nothing extraordinary, but I enjoyed them. The fiery mac & cheese had potential. I liked the heat from the jalapeños, but the cheese sauce had a noticeably grainy texture. Whether that came from the way it was prepared or how it was reheated, I don't know, but good mac & cheese should have a smooth, creamy, silky cheese sauce. This didn't. And then, surprisingly, we get to the best thing on the entire tray: the cornbread. I really liked that they put whole corn kernels in it, and the cornbread had great flavor. In fact, it was the only item on my tray that I finished completely. Unfortunately, it appeared to have been reheated--presumably in a microwave--which made some of the corn kernels chewy. Honestly, I would have preferred it served at room temperature. Still, it was easily the highlight of the meal. Even the iced tea managed to disappoint. I initially mixed the sweet and unsweetened teas, but after realizing I couldn't taste much sweetness, I went back and filled my glass with 100% sweet tea. It still wasn't sweet. Maybe the containers were accidentally switched that day, but whatever was labeled "sweet tea" definitely wasn't. For $32.04, I expected much better. When you're selling BBQ, the smoked meats need to be the reason people come back--not something that has to be rescued by sauce. There were some bright spots here: the Original BBQ sauce was excellent, the beans were good, and the cornbread was genuinely enjoyable. But those things can't make up for bland pulled pork and especially dry, poorly rendered brisket sliced like deli meat. Maybe I caught them on a bad day, but based on the meal I was served, I wouldn't return. And I definitely wouldn't call it "the best BBQ."

The restaurant has a nice vibe and décor, but has too may steps for me, not good if you plan on getting lit. Our server was amazing, she was very knowledgeable and professional. Food wise: The cornbread was good, it came out pipping hot, with butter melting. The pork belly was my favorite.... Omg the Pork Belly was the star of the show---it was so sticky and sweet, the eggs and potatoes were pretty good, nothing extortionary. I was a bit skeptical about the eggs being from a carton, since I didn't see any white in the eggs. The chicken was so greasy and slightly soggy on the bottom. I don't think I'd order that again, the waffles were pretty good. I feel like the chicken and waffles are just great for show, in my opinion that dish didn't really deliver what I thought it would. I would return again, the chicken did not discourage me. It could've just been a bad day. I would recommend giving this place a try.

While there is limited outdoor seating, I prefer the upstairs since it's typically quieter, and the abundant windows naturally illuminate the space. I don't normally eat this type of heavy carb heavy dish...but every now and then, it's not so bad. The plate arrived with two buttermilk biscuits, country bacon gravy, two sunny side up two eggs, and home fries. The gravy was nice and thick with pieces of sausage bits, but I found the biscuits on the dry side, rather than buttery and flaky. Eggs were prepared properly and had that satisfying "ooze" when the yolks were popped. Home fries tasted previously frozen and could've used a few more minutes in the fryer.
