I was lucky enough to have good friends take me here for my Birthday dinner last week and everything was wonderful. We shared everything from a perfectly cooked Rib Eye, Scallop Carpaccio, Shrimp Pasta dish, sides of Brussel Sprouts and asparagus. Don't forget the dessert of the Cheesecake and $1000 Bar were amazing. The wait staff were plentiful, helpful and very attentive. I will start by saying that I really would like this place to succeed because E.S. needs a steakhouse! We went in on 4th night since the opening so there are still things they are working on, so please take it into account when you read it. Very attentive staff, you could see they are really trying to create really good experience Food was good. Foie De Poulet Frit was amazing. Something very tasty and unusual. Steak tartar was great too. Overall, everything was delicious. They have two kid friendly options: butter pasta and a burger that are not on the menu but available upon request. Pasta we got was good according to my son and cost us $15. A little steep for a pasta but we were at a steakhouse so I get it. Our steaks took a little while and ended up being cold. Side dishes were very hot so I assume they were waiting to serve everyone at once and ended up serving cold steaks. The cooking temperature of the meat was perfect though. I got my steak medium rare and it was truly medium rare and not that "you order medium rare and we serve you medium" situation. Again, it is their 4th day so I hope they will work it out. Front manager was very kind by helping resolve the situation. drinks are bourbon heavy, not a lot of sweet/light cocktail options on the menu but they have a full bar. I didn't care much for the wine options on the menu that looked limited. Hopefully they can expand the drinks menu with time. The place was full when we dined today since people are super excited to try out this new place. I suggest you give it a try too! Will travel for steak, and the 45 minute drive to Porterhouse, Bourbon & Bone was well worth it. Great food, ambiance, and service. We are rather discerning steak eaters and not easily impressed. The ribeye was stellar -- one of the best steaks we have had in some time. They have a good selection of cuts, including two Australian Wagu steaks. We started with the crab cake and lamb cheek. The crab cake was one of the best I have ever had -- really outstanding. The lamb cheek was good, but overshadowed by the crab cake. We had the bread pudding for dessert. Fantastic! The atmosphere is very comfortable and cozy. Stylish use of reclaimed wood juxtaposed against a brick wall with green booths. All works very nicely. The service was superlative. Our waiter was very attentive and orchestrated our experience perfectly. We met the owner, manager, and chef, all of whom were incredibly gracious. We enjoyed the meal so much that we made another reservation two weeks later. And, we requested the same wonderful waiter. "The proof is in the pudding." read more

I'm soooo glad I found this unique steakhouse. The bar was expansive (beyond bourbon) but the old fashioned was exceptional. The food, atmosphere, and owners were amazing. Discovered Porterhouse by accident in downtown El Segundo. My wife and I very much enjoy steak houses and looked forward to our first time here. I see all the great reviews, and I anticipated a very good experience, however there were just too many gaffes, particularly with the service. Clearly, there is complete lack of communication between the hostess, server, and even manager. We had reservation for 7pm last night (Saturday). We waited 45 minutes before we were seated at our reserved designated table. The couple at our table-to-be were "long finished" and were casually talking while we waited. The hostess was equally frustrated and insisted they would be leaving soon. At 7:45 we learned that they were never even given their bill, and hence the server was at fault for our long wait. Hostess and server were not connected. Also, I might point out that while we were waiting I met the owner (I believe his name is Alex) introduced himself, asked where we were sitting, and said he would stop by to say hello once we were seated. He visited the table next to us "twice" for about 20-30 minutes. I would have liked to have talked to him. We ordered a couple cocktails, which were good, and the wedge salad and pork belly appetizer was delicious! My wife and I shared the NY wagu steak and a couple sides, also very good. However the steak was served cold. Notified our server who humbly apologized and commented that she would talk to the manager about that (perhaps give a concession). Steak came back nuked but still lukewarm. They offered no concession. This is a very nice place with great ambience and clearly very busy! And the food is good. But I am very disappointed they did not have the common sense to offer some sort of concession, perhaps a complimentary desert. (I was in the service industry for 32 plus years, and learned that customer service is absolutely essential, when these types of gaffes occur, and I ALWAYS gave concessions to show good will, and insure the satisfaction of the customer). At a cost of $240 for 2 people, I expect better. I hope the owner sees these comments. I still wish this business the best! read more

The Good: Crab bisque was very good, pear and brie starter was a treat, side of asparagus was very good. The Bad: My wife and I shared a $60 ribeye and it was 3/4" thick at best. Some people like grill lines in their steak, but it's not great when the char on the exterior of the steak tastes like burnt flesh. We asked for steak to be cooked medium -- steak was served medium well -- the steak was just too thin. Side order of bread was below average (bland, dense, not very warm - we expect more when we have to pay for the bread), side order of mushrooms were a bit bland. read more

This place is great for meeting business associates and finding a nice place for drinks. Reservations are best and the food is overpriced for what it is. But you are paying for the ambience and backdrop for sophisticated and handsome drinks. Our party had steak, tartar, and the pasta with bolognese. Portions for the steak and tartar were very small, pasta was good portion but the meat sauce was not as refined as expected. The accompaniments could have been improved. Example. Tartar came with toasted crostini. I feel like it could have been wonton shells to help scoop and crunch. Crostini is too...bready. The steak needed to have been on top of mashed potatoes and one cute carrot and asparagus eg sticking out. It should have come with either thick steak fries or thin steak frites. Instead it came with a small basket of medium fries. The pasta - they should go to Drago and try the pappardelle to take notes on that proportion and texture juxtaposition. It should come with some focaccia bread to soak up the sauce. read more

amazing new restaurant addition to our little town. very upscale with price points comparable to Fleming's and Ruth's Chris. not as crazy expensive as BOA and better atmosphere. the place is deceivingly big. we knew it's prior iteration, Second City Bistro. Porterhouse has done a great job with the remodel. we've eaten here twice and have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. mama came one for a date night. got seated in front, right on time for our reservation. service was great from the get go. our cocktails, old fashioned/dirty martini, were made proper. we started with the oysters and split the caesar salad. oysters were wonderful and evne split, the salad was good size. we ordered a petite filet and the sea bass. sides were mushrooms and the best charred broccolini i've ever had. mama's steak came out well and my fish was ok. sea bass was a little fishier than i prefer. our next trip, we came with friends and sat in the back patio area. nice use of space back there and very welcoming. they pre-split the filet as we asked and it was surprisingly a good amount of meat. we ordered the broccolini again and it was a delicious as the first time. sooooo good. pro-tip: if you drink wine and are planning on getting more than 2 glasses, we recommend buying a bottle. pours are lighter than we are used to. overall, a great dinner to be had here. we'll definitely be back. read more

Last night, Tuesday, my wife and I took 2 friends to Porterhouse Restaurant for their first time. A 7:15 reservation we were escorted to our booth immediately. We were promptly given menus and explained about specials for the day. Our food came promptly as did the drinks and we ordered a mixture of Tuesdays pork special, the Wagu burger, and the duck. What we experienced was a delightful array of really good food, very good wine, prompt attention to detail, and excellent service. After being one of its patrons when it first opened more than a year ago, I am happy to announce that if this restaurant continues on its path as shown last night, it will be around for many years to come yet. I am so pleased to see that another restaurant has figured out how to do it right. For the 4 of us the bill per person was $50 each for the food and drinks, $60 each when you add California sales tax, and $70 per person for food, CA sales tax, and 20% tip. I was hopeful to find a new steak spot in the South Bay. This one is not it. It wasn't terrible, but definitely not up to the level of their prices. The porterhouse or tomahawk comes in at double the price for a steak of equivalent price at higher end steak houses in LA, and doesn't even touch them in terms of quality. They waygu steaks were decent but the others I would avoid. The salads were underwhelming, same with the dinner rolls. They have a very limited wine selection for a steakhouse but at least offer some decent options. The sea bass was a miss, very bland and without flavor. The horseradish mashed potatoes were bland as well, lacking any taste of horseradish. The execution of service was lacking. Our table had already or nearly finished their main dishes by the time the sides came out. The sides were overall lacking in flavor and just mediocre for the price. Ambiance was decent. Definitely a step up from what is typical of El Segundo dining. Unfortunately the food fails to be up to par. Overall I think you can skip this spot if you are looking for a new place to dine. read more

Ambiance was really nice - very classy/modern place. Lots of interesting drink options. We tried a wagyu steak, bok choy, mashed potato's, crab cakes, sea bass, and 100 grand dessert. I wasn't as impressed with the steak as we hoped/expected for the price. But the sea bass & crab cakes were really good! The 100 grand dessert was supposed to be a homemade version of the candy bar, but they used hazelnuts which I'm not a fan of, so it didn't really replicate the experience for me. The waitress was very attentive...maybe even a little over attentive. Seemed like they had each server keep an eye on only 3 tables a piece, so they were really looking for something to do. At one point our server walked up to our table and moved my glass of water over an inch, then touched my knife to move it an inch, and said "just making sure everything was ok." The one slight detail that didn't go over well was that my wife told the host and manager we were celebrating a special occasion and asked if they could put a candle on the dessert we ordered. They said they'd take care of it but didn't make it happen. Seemed like the manager was a bit more into talking to other guests than ensuring things like that were done. My wife was a bit upset about them missing that detail, but the overall experience was fine. Not sure it'll be a go-to restaurant staple in our rotation (for the price/experience), but worth giving a try. read more

Ok, so I hardly give 5 stars . But this steakhouse deserves it. Hubby & I are both steak lover. We wanted to try something new so we cancelled Mastro's (our usual spot) and made our anniversary dinner reservations here instead. We ate at the patio which was picturesque. There was live music (they play tue-thur) and it just went so well with the ambiance. Food was excellent and cooked to perfection. We had 2 types of oysters (fresh & cooked) which was full of flavor, 38oz tomahawk accompanied by some yummy sauce (there's different ones), spinach, mushroom and of course the bread pudding. The service was top notch. Marie was always making sure our table was cleared, drinks were always refilled, and checked on our needs. Matt their manager was the same ensuring we had a great time. This place is definitely a gem and there's a lot of amazing meals & desserts selection to try for our next visit which will bring our kids with us. We heard of the Porterhouse soft opening and decided to make the trip up from Huntington Beach, picked up mom in Torrance and headed to El Segundo. I must say, it was worth the trip! The atmosphere is great, a good mix of locals and others like us that made the drive. Not being a drinker I was told that some of the signature cocktails were fabulous. We stated with some appetizers, the crab cakes (very good) and the Scallop Carpaccio, OUTSTANDING! I highly recommend it. I had the Wagyu Filet Mignon... rare, one of the best steaks I have ever had. We also had the Seared Scallops, without a doubt the best scallops we have ever had, delicate and melts in your mouth. Sides we had the Brussels and Asparagus, both very good. Had an amazing experience at Porterhouse last week. Tried quite a few of the bourbon cocktails...all of them were top notch with my favorites being the revolver and the paper plane! For food we ordered the spicy fried oysters, crispy duck, wagyu New York strip (get the peppercorn sauce), mash potatoes and the street corn rounding it out with maybe the single greatest dessert I've ever had with the sales caramel butterscotch pot de creme. All of the food was spot on and cooked to perfection. Service was exactly what you'd hope for with professional, kind and knowledgeable staff across the board. I've been to Porterhouse 3 times now and I'd highly recommend it to any steakhouse lovers. My first two visits I had drinks and apps at the bar. Porterhouse takes their cocktails very seriously. I've tried their Manhattan, Paper Plane and Billionaire. All were made with care and turned out perfect. (The pea soup was also fantastic for a chilly evening ) A group of my friends (7 total) and I did a full dinner on my 3rd visit. We tried most of the appetizers with the spicy fried oysters, the pear and Brie and the crab cakes standing out. The Caesar salad had great flavor with anchovies mixed into the dressing. (We also ordered the bolognese as an appetizer and it was outstanding) For my entree, I had the Prime NY strip which was cooked to a perfect med-rare and had a nice crust which added to the flavor. Our group ordered the broccoli, mashed potatoes, creamed street corn, mushrooms, fingerlings and Brussels sprouts. The street corn was the star here. A must order. Desserts... oh man. We shared the cheesecake, bread pudding, 100 grand bars and the salted caramel butterscotch. There were rave reviews of all four, but the bread puddings the salted caramel were really amazing. Having visited literally 50 different steakhouses in the greater LA area over the past 20 years I'd put Porterhouse up there as a must visit and an excellent new addition to the South Bay.
