I've noticed lately that when they pack the food they always crush the worst things at the bottom of the bag in this case my chili cheese dogs ( which is normal along with a cup of nacho cheese normally opened in the bag ) which why I now alway ask for it to be bagged separately) this time was my first time ordering a chocolate shake which what I saved of it taste great but it looks like someone scored the bottoms of the styrofoam cup in a perfect circle and down the middle so when I lifted it as normal the bottom exploded out pouring it all over my floor .... It was done intentionally had to flip it upside down to save what I could ... to me seems the first few days it was open service and presentation was beyond perfect .... But sadly it took an aggressive downturn in quality of customer service. It's sad Cause I really really love this place :( read more

Chicago transplant here - always a fan of portillos. Happy there is one in arrowhead now. The location was busy on. Saturday afternoon didn't wait too long for the food. I am amazed at people not getting their food after what it felt like the millionth time their number was called. Ordered double cheese burger ( my fave) cheese fries and went a bit insane and ordered a spicy chicken sandwich( don't do it) everything ( not including the chicken) was amazing. Perfectly cooked, seasoned and delish. You're probably wondering why would anyone go to portillos and order a chicken sandwich? Wellp... You're absolutely correct. Toss it to brain damage from the heat. I am giving it a 4 out of 5 due to the noise level! Bring EAR PLUGS!! Not that speaking with the people in your group matters at this point. I can't understand why "family" restaurants have their music sooooo LOUD! Maybe attempting to save families from awkward conversations ? Outstanding service received today from Portillo's Manager Jose Navarro!! He helped me troubleshoot a problem w/ my catering order ~ which turns out to have been my fault!!! Not only did he offer to call other Portillo's Restaurants to find my "missing" on line order. Mr. Navarro found the problem, worked w/ the other Restaurant to refund my order, immediately fill a new order, throwing in a couple containers of hot and sweet peppers on him! (Who does that These days?????) Mr. Jose Navarro Does~ He also carried my order to the car for me. Thanks to him my gathering will be a success!!! I attempted to leave a review at the customer recovery center for Portillo's but I must not have the correct email. I hope this text review gets through the proper channels. Service was great! We got four different things. Burger, combo beef sandwich, chicken sandwich, beef and cheddar sandwich. All was delicious! We got strawberry shortcake and chocolate cake shake!!!! Yummy on everything! Very clean and nice to sit and eat. read more

Meh. This location is not like the other ones. Tried the Italian beef sandwich. The beef was somewhat thick and chewy. It was just ok. Tried the burger as well. This was dry and lacking enough mayo or ketchup. Tasted like a day old whopper. The onion rings were good, however the only ranch they offer is a small sealed cup of warm, hospital cafeteria grade "ranch". It was really gross. All the hype of opening, then utter disappointment. Really bad experience. The only thing they got right was the ice tea. The order was wrong, the hot dogs were cold and the french fries were cold and mushy. If you want a good dog in the west valley got to Dazzo's or Windy City. COSTCO dogs are better than these. read more

First time trying Portillo's. Based on the reviews I wanted to try the chicken tenders. The first two were nice and crispy, however the last two were soggy and perhaps undercooked. The 5 stars are being given because of the AMAZING customer service, hot dogs, fries and onion rings. I will definitely be back to try more options. Today we stoped by Portillo's in Glendale to get a couple hotdogs for my grandsons and was in complete shock and probably should've drove away. Two plain hotdogs , two medium drinks one large drink was over $16. When I asked if they had a kid menu they said no ! just plain no!!!! Customer Service was not what we were used to when we went to Portillo's in Chicago or the food was not the quality we were used to in Chicago. I guess this is just one more place to mark off of the list that we won't be going back to not only for the price but also for the service. Attended the soft opening of the brand new Glendale/Arrowhead location. What a fun place to be. Plenty of stuff on the walls to look at while listening to great music of the past. The bacon cheese burger was delicious. The fries were perfect. You could eat them by itself, with ketchup, the cheese sause or alternate between all three. My favorite was the chocolate cake. Portillo's serve true Chicago Hot Dogs which I love especially the Jumbo. But it's the Italian Beef that keeps me going to Portillos. Just as tasty as when I lived a mile away from their Forest Park location. Now I have to travel a bit further but it's well worth it. Get it dipped with hot giardiniera and it's close to being heaven. Lots f other good stuff on the menu. Dick Portillo would be embarrassed by this location. Portillo's is known for their fast and efficient service, but this couldn't be further from what happened with my order yesterday. I placed the order online for a 1:30 p.m. pickup. The app said my order would be on the pick-up shelf and may be ready up to 10 minutes after my designated pick-up time. I got there a couple minutes before 1:30 and stood by the pick-up shelf for 10 minutes without my order ever appearing. Finally I went to the catering counter and I saw a couple orders on a counter by the dessert cooler. I asked an employee if either of those orders were mine, she looked, and sure enough - my order had probably been sitting there the whole time. She brought it over and said she'd go get my drink. I stole a fry out of the bag while she was gone, and it was cold. When she came back, I asked if I could please get a hot order of fries, and she looked at my like I had a 3rd eye. I said to her (not as politely as I should have) that I've been standing by the pick-up location for 10 minutes, and my food was now fairly cold. She tossed the old fries and gave me a hot order. Our party of three each ordered the chocolate mint shakes. At the bottom of every shake was a huge blob of chocolate. The mint taste was overwhelming, probably because the chocolate was not mixed in. When we brought it to the manager's attention (and showed him the chocolate blob at the bottom of the cup), he said we were right, that it should have been mixed in.
