I am going to the University about 5 minutes away and I'm always looking for a good place to go get a bite to eat with my family or my friends and this restaurant is always my top choice. The servers are always super friendly and the food is to die for! The calamari is my favorite appetizer there. It has a nice spicy aioli with pickled onions and peppers which is actually really delicious! What I typically get there is the Crappy Patty which is basically a crab cake sandwich that tops any crab cake I have EVER had! Can't wait to go back!!! read more

Just visited for the first time and it was amazing. We sat at the bar and were waited on by several very friendly bartenders. The wall of draft beers has a cool look and good variety. The rest of the decor was pleasant as well with a fireplace near the bar and some nice windowside seating. I had a local beer and was happy to pay just 6 bucks for a pint. We started with the wonton nachos and brie pesto plate, both were delicious and very filling, didn't feel like we had room for entrees so we ended up splitting clam chowder and clam cakes after another round of drinks which were also very good. The only complaint was waiting a bit longer than expected for the food but it was worth it. We'll be coming back soon to try some entrees soon! read more

We have been 2x's now and both visits were excellent. We sat at the bar, which is very comfortable, the decor is appealing and some nice big screen TV's, makes it perfect. The Pulled Pork Wonton Nachos are awesome. The wonton lightens up what would normally be a heavy salty appetizer. Pulled pork was tasty with a nice sour cream creme. The Ahi Tuna app was excellent. It comes with assortment of pickled vegetables and seaweed salad. Perfect complements to the seared tuna. The short-rib burger was great. You can tell the difference from hamburger as soon as you bite into it. It is flavorful, tender and moist. Great burger. Also there is a nice drink menu. Try the Strawberry Basil Mojito. Visited back in June and this was only our 2nd time eating out after COVID. The staff was very conscious, making sure not to walk us to our table while others were entering/exiting. We ate outside everyone was wearing masks as they should be. The food was all very good quality & freshness . Portion sizes good without being over the top, cocktails delicious & atmosphere perfect for a summer lunch outdoors. Patio is up a step or two from the sidewalk so you don't feel like your eating on the street, definitely a place I could settle in for a long leisurely lunch. read more

This is a new restaurant in Bristol and my fiancé and I stopped in for lunch. The service was excellent and I loved the style of the restaurant-it was upscale, clean an well done overall. I ordered the sesame encrusted tuna appetizer for lunch and it was good. The highlight was the spicy chipotle (?) aioli, which was delicious and a good deal for $13, I probably would have paid 14 or 15. I wasn't in love with the rub used on the tuna but it wasn't bad. My fiancé ordered the Cesar salad and it was excellent and the portion was bigger than expected. We will be back! read more

Beautiful outdoor seating on a summer evening! The beer and drink menu had a good variety and the food was good. We had the cheese platter- which is a misnomer because it's much more than cheese- the muscles frittes and the grilled tuna sandwich. The food was all very good and reasonably priced. read more

Prompt and friendly service BUT overall our meal was just above terrible. The Portside Salad was the only thing reasonably good and the reason I'm giving them 2 stars instead of 1. I don't expect we will be back. Too bad to because we are in the area a lot and hoped for better with this new establishment. The Arnold Palmers were just ehhh and mixed without fresh lemons and served in plastic cups. The French Onion Soup flavor was just ok but with overly gross amounts of cheese and soggy bread. The Mini Chorizo Clams Cakes (which we heard good reviews about) were disappointing with a very bland flavor and chewy texture. I regret eating as many as I did. The chorizo was visibly there but you wouldn't know it from the taste. A real bummer because this combination could have been really good if done properly. The Pineapple Shrimp Kabobs were unfortunately, awful. Served on a bed of dried out and tasteless jasmine rice, near sour pineapple salsa and tough and stringy pea pods. Never have I come across such bad rice as this. I'm not generally a picky eater and always finish my plate (even if I don't care for the food) but I just couldn't with this meal. The more I come here the less I like this place. I have had many experiences similar to Big D at the bar. The one strong point of this place was the bartenders. Sadly now I agree completely with Big D. Besides Mike, the other bartenders are only focused on friends. Have sat and watched empty drinks sitting in front of customers. While friend's drinks are filled before they are even empty. I have watched bartenders at the service end bypass the complete bar to constantly refill drinks for specific people at the other end of the bar. All I can say is makes me miss the previous restaurant Redlefsen's more and more. read more

We love eating out at different restaurants around Bristol, we had the opportunity to eat at your Tavern a few weeks ago. We enjoyed our meals drinks and waitress Jen. What really surprised us was the fact that you establishment charged us for the ice ( ROCKS) in my husband's drink. Frozen water really, not a good impression. We will think twice before we return. Wow! I love this place. What a welcome addition to the Bristol food scene. The menu is creative -- lots of nods to Asian cuisine but without any pretense about fusion cuisine or anything like that. I visit my parents in Bristol every few years and was sad to hear that the previous restaurant had closed. However, I convinced my mom to come with me and my two boys today to try the new place and we had the most fantastic lunch. Firstly, parking is a snap - there is plenty. Service - excellent. We never waited for anything, from water to our drinks, and we were checked upon with just the right frequency. Atmosphere - also lovely. It's much brighter in there now, and really airy and comfortable. Food - almost everything we had was excellent. My 11 year old ate an entire Ruben sandwich, and it was one of the best we've all had in ages. 8 year old downed his fish tacos, which were equally good and very well seasoned. The lettuce wraps to start were truly phenomenal, I'd order them for a meal next time, the balance of flavor and seasoning was spot on. On a side note (literally) the salad that came with the sandwiches was actually a highlight. Usually a side salad is an afterthought, kind of sad really. But again, both kids ate every last leaf, mostly due to the greens being clean, fresh, and perfectly dressed. The dressing had a hint of sesame oil and it was so yummy. I give major kudos when a side salad is that good. Wine pours were generous. My mom and I split the shrimp entrée, and it was the only thing we were a little disappointed by, mainly due to the rice and shrimp being slightly under-seasoned. I would have like a little more coconut flavor, or flavor in general. However this did not prevent us from eating the entire dish, so... Lastly, the desserts are made in house and we tried all three options today. WOW. I actually don't have the right words for how good all three were, but if you have a chance, I think the key lime tart was truly special. On the other hand so was the cheesecake and the brownie - just save room and get whatever they have when you go, it won't disappoint. Top notch experience, top notch place to dine. read more

Went last night with friends who'd eaten lunch there. Very very loud. Waitstaff very friendly and attentive. Meals came in fits and starts, and mine did not come at all. Waitress was very apologetic. Everyone else had finished their meals by the time mine came. All i was having was a bowl of chili! The waitress took my dinner and drink off the bill before i could even ask. Had an excellent lunch here with a friend. I had the mussels frites and the ribeye au poivre which were very tasty. My friend had the calamari appetizer which had a nice kick to it. First time here, beautiful nite. We were here for our trivia game. I myself didn't eat but 3 others did. Very nice waitstaff to start. Food looked great when presented, seemed pleasing enough. But, 2 issues: first, one of our fellow players ordered onion soup which came quickly, then fish & chips & a bowl of chowder for the other 2. Chowder not hot enough but she didn't want to complain. Ok otherwise. Fish & chips were good. He seemed to enjoy the meal. Only 1 suggestion from me here...how old is the oil in the fryolater? Don't try saving a few bucks by keeping it too long. We owned a restaurant. 1 person made mention of maybe the oil was too old. I had to run to the car & as I got to the front of restaurant, w.large window facing west, drop dead beautiful sunset. So good idea when dining there, sit in the front, facing the window. The 2nd "off" issue: w the soup, a salad was ordered. Never came. When our server went by, he asked how things were. Fine, except, no salad! Server (apologies, I forget his name, nice youngish man) apologized, asked did he want it? No charge, just take it home, too late to eat. So, yes, that's what happened. I was impressed as the server offered immediately. Not every place does that despite it being the server's fault. Excellent training apparently. He struck me as perhaps more than just a server? So we'll be back. A nice outdoor patio which I'd take advantage of on a pleasant nite. Friends had brunch here, very much enjoyed it. They'll do well. Next time I'll have a bite myself so I can report on that... pricewise, a bit high but not extraordinarily so. read more

Came for dinner with my husband on a Saturday night. We got seated right away. We ordered the bbq pork nachos for an app. They came quick but were cold and loaded with cabbage and lacking in pork, flavor was just ok. I had the general al's chicken entree which is their take on a general tso's. The flavor wasn't very good, whatever they were trying to accomplish they didn't. The chicken was overdone and fried to oblivion, I swear you could break a tooth. The atmosphere was nice we sat outside, but overall would not return due to the very dissatisfying food. Also on top of that, the people on the side of us were upset about being overcharged for their wine. We didn't eat much and we are probably stopping at a fast food place on the way home lol. read more

So glad to finally have something a little different in town, with a modern twist. The food is fantastic, as are the drinks. Great craft beers- my husband loves the proclamation and I've gotten a perfect margarita every time- that's not easy to come by! Service is great and love the location! We've come here a few times already, and have had no trouble with parking. Even on a busier night, I can't complain compared to other popular areas.
