    Chicken sandwich

This was a family-friendly place to meet for brunch. The restaurant was busy but the service was pretty quick. I had a grilled chicken sandwich that was really great! The fries were fine, maybe not quite hot enough. We had a really good time. This is a solid brunch spot.

Great service! We loved our waitress Liberty! I got the burger and it was delicious. The fries were pretty standard (aka good but not great). My friend loved the chicken pesto sandwich and felt similarly about the fries. Portion sizes are good too! They've got plentiful indoor and outdoor seating, as well as a bar inside.

Portside has always been one of my favorite spots in Bristol. The location is perfect, and I love that they offer everything, breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner. I recently went for dinner with friends on a Friday night. We had a reservation, so there was no wait, and we were seated promptly in the back room. It was a bit loud back there, but service was quick, which we appreciated. I ordered one of my go-to dishes: the Ahi Tuna over the Asian Bowl. It never disappoints. The tuna is perfectly cooked, the crispy wonton chips add the right crunch, and the mountain of fresh chopped slaw pulls it all together. It's flavorful, fresh, and satisfying every time. Our waitress was good, maybe not the best I've had at Portside, but she was attentive enough, and everything came out as ordered. Overall, another great experience at a local favorite. I'll definitely keep coming back.

Comfortable warm and friendly dinning experience. Parking is limited. Food is very good. Drinks great. Nice fireplace.

Avocado toast with a black bean burger. Made to order, and the chef even said it looked good.

This has become my new favorite place by the water. This location is very close to Cole State Park, and has shopping in the area as well as walking path. The service is quick and friendly, and the food is great. Sunday brunch is always nice with the bottomless mimosas until 1 PM.

Good food, wonderful location, easy parking across the street.we were a party of three. We shared a Thai veggie wrap, then we ordered a clam chowder, black bean burger, and the crunchy sesame Asian salad with salmon. We all enjoyed the food.

"One of the best Long Island iced teas I've had in years." "French onion was the most flavorful I've ever had." "Lobster tostada was light and refreshing, very flavorful with a hint of lime." "Excellent combo of flavors on the cheese board between the fruits, crackers, cheeses, and jam." We'd recommend the calamari, the burrata salad, lobster tostada, and the cheese plate. Beef tips and fish and chips were both great but nothing special compared to the rest of the menu. We'd love to go back and try the more unique items! Our waitress was pleasant, prompt, and friendly. Our only complaint was that it was little warm in the restaurant despite the air conditioning but it's been unusually hot and humid lately.

Hearty & savory Mini Chorizo Clam Cakes

Came to lunch for the RI Food Fight Best Sandwich Showdown. The bar looked comfortable, so we settled there. There is a nice outside seating area that looks across the street to the harbor in warmer weather. The friendly bartender greeted us promptly & was knowledgeable about the extensive drink lists & food menu. A Portside Sour, made for the restaurant by Westerly based Grey Sail, was fruity & tart. The cocktail list features several fun Iced Coffee drinks, featuring Nitro Cold Brew on tap. While the Biscotti Iced was less boozy & sweet than expected, it still made a tasty accompaniment to the meal. Food began with a Rhode Island standard - Clam Cakes & Chowder. The large bowl of creamy chowder was excellent. The cakes have a different twist here as Mini Chorizo Clams Cake. Much more moist than typical cakes, these were loaded with clams & ground sausage. Very good if a bit heavy. This combination would make a good, filling meal in themselves. The restaurant's entry in the sandwich competition was their Fried Chicken Banh Mi featurung well seasoned, juicy chicken cutlets with pickled carrots & jalapeños. The chiles were super spicy but easily removed by those sensitive. Served with a choice of fries or greens, it was a tasty lunch. Those dressed greens were an excellent addition to the sandwich itself, too. While a bit pricey for everyday lunch, we will certainly return to enjoy drinks at the bar or a meal outside in warm weather.

Park across the street with the water view from the restaurant.

What a really nice place. Tried the Portside Tavern for lunch today with my dad and friend. The food was outstanding and the service was impeccable. I had the West Coast Chicken Bowl, my dad had the Fish Ruben and our friend had the Cajun Mahi Mahi Tacos. Mine was so flavorful and the portion was generous. I took more than half home for tomorrow. My dad said lunch was the best sandwich he had in a long time and also took half home. It came with the option of a side salad or fries. He was happy to have the fresh salad. My friend raved about the tacos and was surprised that restaurant had extensive gluten free options that she needs. It was definitely a great choice and we all said we will definitely be going again. I highly recommended this restaurant.

Tuesday, week of Halloween for lunch. Sat at a high-top table in the bar. Bartender/server was very quick to bring a menu and welcome me. The coziness was nice after the drive. I quickly ordered the Spiced Pear Margarita and it was absolutely amazing! Packed full of balanced flavor. For lunch, I had the crab cakes appetizer and the creamy clam chowder. OMG! The clam chowder was delicious but those crab cakes were to die for. The only change I would make to them is putting the aioli on the side instead of on top because they didn't need much. They could have been eaten without any sauce. I'm still thinking about those crab cakes!

First time here, scoping out this place for a post wedding breakfast there in Bristol. Upon Departure, we reserved this place. As you can see from the pictures, outstanding. Service was very good in a server very friendly. I don't recall her name, but she migrated here from Russia years ago! We sat outside in the ambience on the sidewalk was so nice this Sunday morning

The menu had some great choices but no prices. Not a big deal, as they are new and will probably be adding them eventually. I ordered the El Caprichoso Salad with grilled chicken breast and 3 beef empanadas. They said it would be about 20 minutes. It did take about 35 minutes, so I'm the future, I will order ahead of time. Everything is made from scratch and cooked to order so the extended time is understandable. The El Caprichoso salad was very good but...it came with yellow rice and not brown and there was no avocado. I didn't open it until I got to my parents house so I did not go back. I would definitely order it again but ensure that I check it before leaving. The beef empanadas were hand made with massa. They were so different than the empanadas that I have had in the past but I absolutely loved them. Before cashing out, they let me know they make desserts. Flan, Tres Leches, etc. I would definitely go back and maybe sit and eat there. There are only a few tables so I assume that they will get more once things start to get busier. Very fresh food, very good service. I'd recommend checking this place out if the menu interests you!

The staff was harried because of the crowd , however not rude at all. I brought my food home and we devoured it. I returned yesterday for another go at it, the time was mid day on a week day so the crowd was much smaller. I wasn't driving far so the food did not get as soggy as the first time. The fish was light and flakey and the fries were standard fair, nothing to get excited about, however passable for most. I got a better look at the inside too, plenty of tables with satisfied looking customers. For her meal, she had the Grilled Faroe Island Salmon, which was accompanied by blistered cherry tomatoes, capers, and roasted garlic, served atop red quinoa. It was a beautiful presentation, and G liked it a LOT. I started with a Side Caesar Salad which came in a small black bowl. Not only attractive, but also utilitarian... easy to pick at. For my meal, I ordered the Gemelli (a short, twisted pasta that looks like two strands of bucatini wound together but is actually a single strand folded and twisted). It was served with house-made fish sausage, rapini, some calabrian chilies, pangrattato (bread crumbs), and aglio e olio. The FISH SAUSAGE (who ever heard of such a thing!?!?) was the primary reason I ordered the gemelli. I just HAD to try it. And it was even better than I'd hoped: meaty and slightly spicy. Definitely a meal I will order again.

For the past two years, since moving to Bristol, SS Dion has been one of my favorite restaurants…read more I've dined here many times, which is why it is so disappointing to write this review. Unfortunately, our experience last night (8:45 p.m. reservation for four) was by far the worst experience I've had not only at SS Dion, but at any restaurant in Bristol. We arrived approximately 10 minutes before our reservation and were told by the two hostesses that because we were early, we would need to wait. That was completely understandable, so we sat on the bench next to the hostess stand until our reservation time. At 8:45 p.m., the main hostess, who was wearing a light blue dress, walked us to our table. As she gathered the menus, she looked directly at me and said, "You're the 8:45 reservation...right...we are taking you at the right time." The comment came across as unnecessarily passive-aggressive. I chose not to respond and simply followed her to our table. After being seated, we waited about 10 minutes before our server, Julieann T., greeted us. We ordered two sangrias, one Sprite, and a water. She said she would put in the drink order and bring us some water. Another 10-15 minutes passed before the drinks arrived--but still no water. At that point, we placed our entire food order: calamari, yellowtail tartare, a cheese board, two bowls of chowder, and a Caesar salad. When we told her we wanted to order everything at once, she made a face and replied, "Oh...okay...fine." As she walked away, she again said, "Your water is coming." She then proceeded to take drink orders from the table next to us. We understood it was a busy evening and expected some delays, so we remained patient. However, nearly 40 minutes into our reservation, we still had not received a single glass of water. My husband was very thirsty, so I politely signaled to our server and asked if she could please bring him some water. Her response shocked me. She said, in an accusatory and irritated tone, "Well, we are busy, and you decided to order all of your order at once." I fail to see how ordering our meal should have any relationship to whether we receive water. It was an inappropriate and unnecessary response. Thankfully, the second hostess--the one who had initially greeted us--came over with a pitcher of water, apologized for the delay, and served us. She was, without question, the only employee who treated us with genuine kindness and professionalism throughout the evening. When our food finally arrived, our server practically dropped the plates onto the table. Dishes clanked against each other as she placed them down, forcing me to rearrange everything myself. The service felt rushed, careless, and unfriendly. She checked on us only once, asking if everything was okay. We simply replied, "Yes," and left it at that. Throughout the evening, I couldn't help but notice how warm, attentive, and pleasant she was with the two tables beside us, while her interactions with our table consistently felt cold, irritated, and dismissive. I tried to maintain a positive attitude for my family's sake because we were celebrating my mother's birthday--her very first visit to SS Dion--but the experience became increasingly uncomfortable. When we were ready to leave, we requested to-go containers. Our server took the soup and sauces into the kitchen to package them, explaining that we couldn't do it ourselves because the dishes were porcelain, which made perfect sense. However, when she returned, she began literally tossing our packaged food into a green takeout bag. It was careless, unprofessional, and honestly unbelievable to watch. At that point, I knew the evening was beyond salvaging. Despite the service, I still left a $10 tip because I believe in recognizing the effort that goes into restaurant work. However, based solely on the service we received, it was far more generous than what was earned. What makes this experience so disappointing is that it is completely inconsistent with the service we have always received at SS Dion. This restaurant has earned our loyalty over the past two years because of its food and hospitality. Last night failed on the hospitality side in every way. I sincerely hope management reviews what occurred because no guest should be made to feel like an inconvenience simply for dining at your restaurant. We will certainly think twice before returning, which saddens me because SS Dion has always been one of our favorite places in Bristol.
