Place was way over capacity. seemed to have enough staff but it was so busy. Food was absolutely terrible. Not steak tips but stew meat. Frozen fries and fish and chips not made in-house 4 people with apps and entrees drinks was over $200 and they only took a round of drinks off when we politely complained. The prices are low because the management skimps on both the quantity and the quality of the food. All of our dishes were mediocre at best; not much flavor and certainly not memorable in any positive way. 4 scallops in a dish is served as an entree- it would more appropriately be listed as an appetizer. We were eager to try this place on a quiet Sunday afternoon. Walked in and were greeted right away and decided to sit outside, which was completely empty except for one patron sitting at another table. We both looked over the menu and were eager to order, but a server never came to us. After sitting there for a while, wondering if they forgot about us and the one other table that was almost done with their meal, we finally got up and left. The place seemed nice and the reviews are good, but service is a must and leaving your patrons sitting outside and forgetting them isn't the way to go. We stopped here for lunch before heading out to cycle on the East Bay Bike Path. Outdoor seating was perfect on a summer afternoon. Inside had great ambiance too. The food here is unbelievable. The crunchy sesame Asian salad (with added steak tips!) is my personal favorite, but everything from the Portside burger, to the surf and turf is delicious. The service here is really friendly. I'm always either greeted by the hostess or bartender when I walk in the door, and seating has always been prompt, but I wouldn't even mind waiting for a seat because the food and drinks are always worth it. The decor is GORGEOUS. The light fixtures, fireplace and color scheme all give the restaurant a homey feel. Not the mention how cool the giant Portside sign over the open kitchen is. Who serves a sirloin steak on a fajita sizzle-plate? So, one of the most expensive items on the menu ruined by a hot plate! No resting so medium rare quickly turned to medium well. Basic. Two stars because the scallops were good. I would have told the server or the manager but the server never asked and the manager wasn't present or obvious. Really great decor, friendly and prompt staff and service. The food was UH-MAZING!! I had the shrimp po'boy and fries- SO good! Huge fried shrimp with this tasty sauce and the fries, really good job! I hosted an event in their back room. Caroline and Richie were extremely helpful throughout the planning and event itself. Food was all unique and DELICIOUS! We had an array of their appetizers from the main menu. The pork nachos are the best ever. The room is private and the service was great. Vibrant, active bar to hang-out in. Highly recommend use of their event room and I am looking forward to returning for dinner - soon. read more

Great atmosphere -- the drinks were great, in particular the margarita and a decent amount of beer on tap. The food was also delicious. I enjoyed their Asian fusion American cuisine they have to offer, which is definitely different from nearby restaurants. The offer outdoor seating which will definitely will be a hit in the summer but the lack of space makes it difficult for large parties. Overall, pretty great new find! read more

I had a great time getting dinner on Wednesday 5/1 around 7PM. My boyfriend had the clam chowder app & lobster roll entree. I had the general ALs chicken. Both were delicious and great portion sizes. Also had cocktails. I had the cranberry mule ride (?hope I get the name right) and it was very light and fresh, not too sweet at all. Service was friendly and prompt but not pushy. I have gone to Portside now 8 times. I wanted it to be my go to place since I live in Bristol. But unfortunately I have only had one good experience. All the other 7 times I had to wait 45 min for good and ALWAYS had to send back the most basic things like burgers or eggs due to being overcooked or undercooked. Twice I just gave up after sending the item back only to get the same mistake and went home hungry. I give them credit for how they handled it( comping the meal or a GC for the future) but honestly after today I think I'm officially done. For me it will be a drinks only kind of place. More a 3.75. Pretty decent food for a fair price. Did a wonton nacho app which we liked, it was lighter (not heavy corn chips crusted with cheese) "Asian inspired" take on nachos and a reuben. The reuben was nice, the corned beef was thick, so pretty sure they must have made it; and they had gluten free bread for it which is key for my partner. Fair prices. Nice clean place, but kind of a soulless vibe (corporate-y), still, we felt like it was a solid choice... and I'm keeping it on the willing to go back to list because of the gluten free flexibility. Uninspired beer selections... a couple of the mediocre to bad locals (Ragged Island, Newport Craft, etc)... one Proclamation... standard stuff. read more
