My Friends took me to this fantastic upscale Italian restaurant in south Brooklyn. We had a yummy feats of lobster linguine, crab cakes, a beer salad , grilled octopus porterhouse steak, Mac n cheese, creamed spinach and zucchini flower. Follows by a yummy bread pudding and napoleon. It was delicious ! The steak was perfectly cooked rare, The crab cakes were lump and not breaded and seasoned well. The beets were juice and the creamed spinach had just the right amount of cream to be smooth but not watery. The standout to me was the lobster Nero linguine. The stock this sauce must have used was exquisit. Savory, umami and amazing. Yum! read more

My family and I came back to Positano after our vacation in Miami. The food was exceptional, and our food came out exactly as ordered. Thanks to a server named Enzo! My children loved him cause he made them smile all dinner long))) We will visit again soon but we must request Enzo once more, or my children won't attend. I have been driving past this restaurant for years and based on how busy it always appears to be I figured it must be good. I finally had the opportunity to try it with my family last night for my mother in law's birthday. As expected, it was a lovely restaurant with an abundance of delicious options. We tried two of their specials including the seafood salad (extremely fresh) and the chilean sea bass (absolutely amazing and they should definitely permanently have it on their menu). We also had the yellow fin tuna tartare , Caesar salad, lobster ravioli, and veal parmigiana (all were delicious). The filet mignon was alright. The desserts were impeccable. We had the berry napoleon and the lava cake with vanilla gelato. Cocktails, ambiance, and service were also great. I highly recommend Positano! read more

Tad pricey, but food is always fresh and delicious. Waiters/managers are very attentive and give you plenty of attention and conversation. They dish out their current specials, and always ask how you're doing and make sure to bid you goodbye as you head out. Have had lunch here multiple of times with my best friend, usually a catch up kind of meal. There's ample street parking depending on the time of your visit. I look forward to trying out more of their menu in the future. I recommend checking them out! Real Italian cuisine is hard to come by and this place is one of my fave places to visit every now and again to load up on the comfort of carbs. read more

Tina's take: 10/10 This is my second time coming to Positano and they never disappoint. I brought my grandma and family here for lunch and she was very pleased. We had an amazing time and had so much food. I was not able to take a picture of our appetizers in time but we got the baked clams, barbabietole salad (beats), and fried calamari. Then my grandma had escarole and bean soup which she enjoyed. For our entrees we received chicken Marsala, chicken Franchese, the blt chicken sandwich (lunch menu), and I got the rigatoni alla campagnola. (Lunch menu) by the time we got to our entrees we were stuffed but we were able to take the remains home. The service was remarkable and the food was outstanding. OMG (I NEVER lead a review like that), but this place was incredible. If there are better Italian places in Brooklyn, I haven't been to them. The food is delicious and fresh and if you can narrow down the menu to just a few treasures, then you're a better Yelper than me. I could have ordered one of everything and THEN orders seconds. I was there for lunch with my spouse recently. We ordered like we always do, from the Dinner Menu, cause we want what we want, regardless of the price, plus we came all the way from Oceanside. The food was very good as usual, but the reason for only 3 stars was the cost of my wine. 2 "Large" Glasses of wine, with Tax and Tip, was $36.00. Those 2 "Large" Glasses of wine, came out of a $6.00 bottle or Jug or Bag in the Box. So, to have it cost me $36.00, for wine that cost them $4.00 is just a bit too much for me. Lesson Learned. Next time, and we will go back, me and the rest of my party, "Ice water with Lemon" Please. And In other places, How much is the wine, and may I see the bottle? read more

My wife and I decided to do a random date night on a Friday after work, leaving the kids with the grandparents. It was my first time here (where have I been?) after picking it out from Yelp. Settling into the right atmosphere, the restaurant was half-full when we arrived, but we didn't make a reservation. We were seated immediately. The room filled up soon after we sat down (we got lucky, it was Friday night). We started with a bottle of rosé, a typical upscale restaurant price. The waiter explained the day's specials - a lot of information all at once, but everything sounded just right, so we followed his recommendations and set the menu aside. He was very delightful to talk to, patient and friendly. Everything I am going to talk about is not on the menu, but way better than the menu. Appetizer - thin slices of grilled octopus: brilliant and fancy display, not filling but a lot of refreshing flavors. Great to pair it with a small piece of bread. Main course - seafood black and white linguine: we are fans of black linguine but have never seen black and regular linguine together (rich flavor and not overpowering). Truffle Wagyu ribeye - forget about Peter Luger. This is just as good without the long line. It comes with a mouth-watering aroma, warm and juicy on the first bite, melts in your mouth. Every bite is packed with a heavy grilled meat flavor with a hint of truffle. Brilliant! Dessert - Napoleon and a triple shot cappuccino to cruise into the night. It's an Italian restaurant. It wouldn't be fair to compare it to a steak house with smokers and charcoal grills. The waiters were busy at times, which is understandable for a local favorite on a Friday night. All the way down at the very very end of Bay Ridge (so far that if you take a few more steps you're in Staten Island) is Positano's - well worth making the trip down. Incredibly popular before Covid-19, and all the more so now that there's less tables available, making a reservation is a must! The seating on the outdoor patio and sidewalk are a bit tight when it comes to the recommended 6 feet distance. However, the one thing that hasn't changed due to covid is the incredible food! Absolutely incredible bread served with a eggplant and tomatoe sauce for the table starts the meal off great. For a main, I got spaghetti vongole, heaping with little neck clams every bite drenched in olive oil and cheese. As opposed to other restaurants where you get a handful of clams, some clenched shut, Positano gives almost two dozen jewels of the sea, all open and ready to enjoy. I also tasted a bite of the ribeye and glazed carrots, both delicious. The service can be rather slow. Even with multiple waiters swarming the patio, it's hard to flag one down. One of my favorite restaurants the Mexican street corn is delicious. The patio seating is very nice and chill it's a cute brunch spot !

The food and the service is good however the atmosphere is very strange. They are trying to not be a restaurant but a night club? The music is too loud and you can not even hear the waitress tell you the specials because the noise is bad and annoying. The charge high prices but it is not a high class restaurant anymore. Came here last minute on a Friday night and thankfully they had space (although we sat outdoors). It was actually a pretty cold night but surprisingly we didn't feel a bit of the weather from the tents with the space heaters they had blasting on. After hearing a long list of the specials we settled on the barbabietole salad, cavatelli pasta and New York strip steak. The salad was so light and delicious with crispy fried honey goat cheese and two colored beets. The pasta was handmade ricotta cavatelli, which had a gnocchi like texture, in a red spicy sauce and cauliflower (we opted out of the sausage). The steak was cooked perfectly super crispy crust and nice tender interior plated with crunchy baby carrots and a fried mashed potato ball stuffed with cheese. Ugghhhh to die for!! For dessert we each got a gelato/sorbet. One lemon and one banana Nutella-- I will say the banana Nutella was superior. He made me look stupid with my wine choice, with no help whatsoever. All the entire time, I felt like we were rushed out of the restaurant. Plates were flying away with food in it. This is an old fashioned restaurant in an old neighborhood in Brooklyn. The servers were attentive and accommodating. I asked for the air conditioning to be adjusted because I was cold. Getting a glass of Pino Noir helped also. I was very happy that their chicken entrees were made with Bell and Evans organic chicken. The food was prepared beautifully and the side vegetables were good. We added broccoli rabe to complete our dinners. Slightly more expensive than we're used to. I went here with my family . They have valet service which was great since it was raining very hard and I was with my 83 yr old mom. The valet very courteous. The restaurant is small but cozy . The service was amazing and I'm upset I did not get their names. He was from Chile, very nice , spoke Spanish beautifully which helped my mom and Aunt. The waitress also spoke Spanish and she very thorough and kind. The service was on point. They checked with us regularly and attended to us . The food was in one word Phenomenal! Yes it's alittle pricey but the food was soooo good. I had the chicken rollatini with rigatoni . I wish I would have taken pictures. Relaxing Ambience! I definitely recommend! We're in town visiting from California. The restaurant is in a great, safe location, a few blocks from the bridge. Food was wet nice, service was excellent, adult atmosphere with nice music playing in the background. We had a great experience there. Prices were reasonable for what we had. These guys take care of you! If you like the feeling of individualized attention for a true meal, then this is place. Had lunch here twice recently. Once on the weekend. (No Lunch menu on weekends!) Once during the week. (my steak sandwich is on the lunch menu!) Both times service was great. Sometimes almost too great and a little jumbled with too many hands in the pot. i.e. the guy that gets the bread and butter and lemon wedges is NOT your waiter...so if he fails to get something...it gets lost in the handoff. That happened to me both times I visited, and witnessed it happening to others. On the weekends, the portions are family style and one entree is plenty to share. (see my pics of chicken parm) During the week, ample salads and reasonably priced sandwiches are tasty and freshly made. Such a nice atmosphere, especially when the windows are open. You really get the feeling of being "transported" here, or like you are in Europe. Well worth it for any day of the week. read more
