This was my first time eating here. I was pretty impressed with the healthy choices considering this place is a bar...not that I ate healthy, but will be back for their salads. Interesting post office antiques add to the funky atmosphere. I had their Inverted Jenny cocktail, which was dangerous! Considering it has four shots and is $9, it was a pretty good value. The grilled ham & cheese was perfect on sourdough. The fried mushrooms had a light beer-batter and tasted fresh (not frozen). If there was a zero star, that's what I would give this place. It's lunch time, we didn't get our food until 45 minutes later after our order was taken. We couldn't even eat our lunch during lunch. We didn't even get a discount for the time it took to get our food. We had too ask for them to put our food in to-go containers. No napkins given to us nor condiments. I ordered soup and I didn't get a spoon. Luckily I was nearby so I went back to get a spoon. No apologies from the manager or supervisor for the delay. This was our first visit to The Post Office since new owners took it over. It looked pretty much the same to me. The place was rocking loud with talk and laughter...that's a good thing. A crowd of early birds fill the joint. Are waitresses was a bit overwhelmed but got it all handled. Burgers were flying by and man did they look great. We had some drinks, deep fried pickles to start. Wife loved her vegetarian wrap and I felt special with a crab stuffed avocado salad. It had the works, all arranged in the classic Cobb salad manner. This place was a major disappointment after seeing all the good reviews that it had. I'll start of by saying that the service I received was good. I also liked the atmosphere of the place. The post office theme is a nice touch . Other than that there isn't much I can rave on . The drinks where standard and nothing better or worse than normal considering I only ever get jack and cokes .The main reason I am giving them two stars is the food was just absolute trash. I got the Cajun burger and potato salad as my side. With the name being Cajun burger you would expect big bold flavor and spice. Nothing there . Just bland meat and veggies. The potato salad tasted like someone mashed a red potatoe with no seasoning and handed it to me in a little bowl . Also ordered my burger medium rare and it came out well done . This place is basically a glorified bar that sells burgers and sandwiches. If you are looking for a good solid burger do yourself a favor and walk across to final draft or something . I really like to give this place 4 or 5 stars, because it has what it takes to be great, the atmosphere, the menu and staff... But a great place requires an owner/manager, to bring out the best in all of the above. The atmosphere is an awesome sense of the Old West, the menu offers great meals, and the bar seems to have close to everything you want. But... after 2 visits to this place, the same things fell short, the order came out wrong (and takes 15 min+ to correct) and the staff behind the bar, are not super friendly towards "outsiders". In October 2021, I ordered the Burger with Blue cheese, Medium rare, and a salad. Salad was nice, but burger well done, which totally changes the flavor of the meat. Service was ok, but not very personable. Returned in mid April, 2022, and the whole thing sadly repeated it self. This time we were 4 guest (instead of 2) the bartender (we sat in the bar both times), still came by as a casual affair, more busy speaking with "regular patrons". The same order of Burger, came ones again well done/grey, and this time I politely asked for the order to be redone... That took 15-20 min, and at that point, my 3 friends had finished their meals... !!! Not very convenient... My friend ordered the same burger as me, and it was the same overdone situation, unfortunately he was so hungry, he didn't want to wait for a new order. The Clam chowder was nice, several pieces of clams, but to sit and wait that long, to have the kitchen correct an error on their behalf, is very unprofessional... (two times the same mistake, someone may want to attend to the running of the everyday routine/service), and add a smile to the staff for visitors. Right across the parking lot is "Final Draft", with everything this place lacks, exception of the Old West feel. read more

There are a few really cool things about the Post Office. 1. It's a music venue that primarily hosts local talent. Granted, the local talent is deeper in some ends of the pool than others, so on one night you'll get the great Muletown String Band or Slam Buckra (RIP) and his Groove Palookas. But on another night you'll get a guy and his acoustic guitar doing Eagles and Jackson Browne country-rock covers from the 70's, and then he'll say, "Okay, this is me tryin' to keep it fresh, keep it modern," before covering "I Love this Bar," a Toby Keith song from a decade ago. But for the most part, the music is good and the intimate venue is fun. 2. It has a huge old wooden U-shaped bar that divides the music venue area from the dining area. The selection of beers is okay (not great by any means), the bartenders mix decent cocktails, and the service is generally outstanding. But the bar is the star. 3. It really was a post office back in the day, so there are still old PO boxes on the walls and such. Redding being Redding, it's shocking that the place hasn't been gutted and turned into a generic clone-a-raunt bar and grill by now. The food is your basic pub chow, long on a variety of burgers. I'm not going to say that the eats are four-star food, but it'll do if it's one of those evenings where the food can take a back seat to your need for a live music fix and a couple of pints. A good spot to have a drink before hitting a concert at the Cascade, too. read more

Honestly had never stopped foot into the place until Karaoke Thursdays. Now tomorrow is the last one. So bummed. Only saw like one or two customers that weren't there solely because Encore Entertainment was there doing karaoke. Nothing else about the place really excited me, it's difficult to get the bartender's attention. Food looked good but was told by an employee a few years ago that the kitchen could use a thorough cleaning so haven't tried it yet. On the plus side, most bars and restaurants smell nasty outside but this one does not. Maybe the karaoke folks (and most hadn't even heard it had started again and where), that showed up so far don't drink enough. even for Thursday night. So bummed. I had the Prix fixe brunch with bottomless mimosas for $35 dollars for my 2nd meal at Post office Saloon & Grill. I recommend this deal if you are downtown on a Saturday afternoon because it was less crowded than other downtown brunch spots. The price was fair as well. I tried the "hangover hash", "stuffed potato skin", "veggie Benedict", and avocado toast; all of these items were small plates off the brunch menu of over 15 items. I liked the hangover hash the most but all of the food was hot and delicious. I walked here on Saturday and so felt better about the bottomless mimosas. I had two cranberry mimosas and a pine apple mimosa they were all served in a half glass of champagne with the cranberry and pine apple juices served separately in a glass mini caraffe and a small can for the pine apple juice. No garnish for the mimosas. If you go to the Post Office Saloon and Grill between 10 and 2 PM on a Saturday the brunch menu is the only food option available and I enjoyed it. read more
