We've ordered from here a few times, both pickup and delivery through the app. Food is typically always ready in given timeframe. It can be a bit hit or miss on temperature (for example, ordered mac and cheese and soup in the last order and it was pretty cold), but usually it's fine. My bf and I both enjoy the Wreck sandwich. Their chicken pot pie soup is really tasty. I liked the mac the first time I had it, but the second time the noodles were really mushy and the sauce didn't taste as good. Overall, I'd give Potbelly's a solid 3.5, one of the better chain sub spots in my opinion. read more

The workers were quick to greet me and made me feel very welcomed as I had never been in a Potsbelly before. They walked me through the menu and told me about the combos you can do. I got an Italian sub with chicken pot pie soup and they asked if I wanted my sub skinny. A skinny sub!? What kind of world are we living in? There is nothing skinny about me I got a full portion and a soda on the side too since wifey wasn't there to stop me. The only issue I had was the table I sat at was a little wobbly and it felt like my sub could topple to the floor at a moment's notice. That wouldn't be good! Solid but nothing extraordinary, basically what anyone should expect from a chain sandwich shop. Had a turkey sandwich from here as part of a lunch platter for several people and it was fine. Not the most unique or the tastiest thing I've had by any measure but it filled me up for most of the rest of the day. I also had a sugar cookie which didn't taste like much but I'm a big baker and wouldn't have had it if it wasn't there for the taking. Overall it's fine if you're in a pinch and looking for something quick to fill up on but there are other places nearby that fit the same bill, are better, and are local businesses instead of a chain. Soup's On for example is just around the block and in my opinion is far better. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here but there wasn't nothing inherently wrong or bad about it. read more

I love my Potbelly, but this place is not great when it comes to customer service. I came in 3 times in 2 days expecting it to be better each time. Sadly it was either the same or worse. On one of the visits, I walked in to see three employees in the back. I got to the ordering area. I stood there for a minute or two. No one helped. There was a guy w/ his underwear hanging just under his butt sweeping. He looked up at me and then continued to sweep. Eventually someone assisted me. 'What would you like?' 'I would like a wreck, big on multi-grain, double meat' 'Ok. What kind of bread?' 'Mulit-grain. Wreck, double meat big.' 'Ok. What size?' 'Big. Wreck, double meat' 'Ok. What kind of sandwich do you want?' 'Really? A wreck, double meat' The gentleman that helped me placed the sandwich in the warming contraption and then went to do something else. The guy w/ his pants hanging off his butt then stopped sweeping. He then took several of the containers w/ food w/o gloves on and moved them around. He then proceeded to put on gloves w/o washing his hands. Then he disappeared. My sandwich had made it to the end and sat there fora few minutes. I called the attention to the guy who originally made the sandwich. 'Is this your sandwich?' I'm the only one in the place. 'Yes' 'What would you like on it?' 'Mayo and peppers' - the guy had touched the lettuce container so I opted for no lettuce on this day. The guy reached for pepper. 'No peppers, hot peppers' 'Ohhhhhhhh. Ok' He then proceeded to ring me up. 'What did you have?' Really? He just made my sandwich from start to finish and didn't know. Ironically enough, although the guy was sweeping the back area of where food is prepared, the lobby area needed to be cleaned. Sadly this place is right across from my hotel, so it's quick and easy. I really like this potbelly's. The staff is always really nice and the service and food are always great. Especially when compared to the chipotle less than a block away where the staff is really rude and the food quality isn't as great as most chipotle. So, A coworker (another elite yelper) suggested this place. It's in walking distance from where I work. We went here yesterday around 12:35pm. Let's just say I think we just beat the crowd. Many people chose to dine in however I was getting a to go purchase. I stepped right up. I decided to get a Italian flatbread. So they prepped the flatbread with the meat and slid my sandwich down to get it's toppings. I chose everything but mustard and extra hots. I also ordered a mixed berry smoothie. I was super excited when I saw that two small cookies were on my straw. Yayyyyyy. This was the best lunch. I am still thinking about it today. I just can't wait to get back to this place. Dog Walk Tip: They put out a dog water bowl for those of you who walk the pooch on Charles St. I just started walking Dutch on Charles St because it has so many more smells and attractions than other streets I've been on. Catering here is TERRIBLE. We ordered the afternoon before for a big business lunch. We got a box of cookies, a box of sandwiches, and a salad. We had it scheduled to arrive an hour before we had set aside time for lunch during our meeting. Then today, I called in the morning to confirm the order. They said it "wasn't in the system" (even though I ordered & paid online), but they had the receipt and confirmed that it would arrive by 12:15 PM. I needed to add some sandwiches since more people showed up to our meeting than expected. When the time came, potbelly never showed. We called twice and they kept saying they were 10 minutes away, but time kept passing. They said that they had "gotten a lot of orders at once", but since we ordered a whole day in advanced, they should have been prepared. We were on the brink of forgetting about it and going out to lunch instead. Finally at 2:00 PM they showed up, and we had to physically go outside and get the food from the driver. And then the order was wrong! We didn't receive all the sandwiches, so some people were left WITHOUT A LUNCH. The sandwiches we did receive were wrong, and they were not labeled. They were all mushy and dry at the same time. We did not get any fixins (mustard, mayo, peppers). The "box of cookies" was not a box. The cookies were literally thrown into the bag so they were all smushed, and half the cookies had fallen out of their packaging. Cookie pieces and melted chocolate everywhere. The salad had blue cheese and tomatoes in it (which we requested to leave out), so half our team could not eat it due to dietary restrictions. We looked EXTREMELY unprofessional to our clients, even though we ordered well in advanced, and called to confirm. The only positive thing from this experience was that they gave us a refund for our order, which was definitely called for. Our office is literally 2 blocks away from this location, which makes it ridiculous that it was so late, that we had to call repeatedly, and that our order was wrong. This is the worst Potbelly. Unfortunately, it's the closest thing to my office, so I eat here often out of necessity. With no line or even a 2-3 person line, it can take 10-15 minutes to get a sandwich or a salad. It is also usually necessary to repeat my order several times. this is inexplicable, because there are usually 3 to 6 employees behind the line at any given time. I know potbelly is supposed to be a friendly, chill place, but it would be nice if the employees spent less time dicking around with each other and maybe more time simply helping customers. read more

(04/18/2013) For a sandwich chain, really like Potbelly. My fave is the awkward to order "A Wreck®" (Salami, Angus Roast Beef, Turkey, Ham and Swiss cheese). The bread products are crusty, toothsome and pretty tasty, especially when toasted. Optional toppings are: mayo, mustard, hot peppers, lettuce, onion, tomato, pickle, oil and Italian seasoning. The Italian seasoning has lots of oregano and a great addition; the pickles and hot peppers are not your standard mix (more like giardiniera) and really zippy. All that said, if you're in Mount Vernon, there's plenty of great locally-owned places surrounding Potbelly to patronize. read more

If you do not understand how the business you work for operates, do not make suggestions. I placed a mobile order for pick up today 5/4 around 6:30pm. I just received a perks offer for a sandwich so I said I'd have myself a quick and easy dinner. Something came up around the pick up time so I phoned in and gave the store a call asking them to hold my sandwich A as something came up. Told him I'd be there in about an hour. The store representative I spoke with on the phone was Van. Van asked me if I wanted to cancel the order and I said no you can just hold the sandwich I'll pick it up later. Then I thought and asked about the promotion I used to place this order and inquired about being able to use it again if canceled. Van assured me I will be able to use the promotion again right from the app. I said okay sure, go ahead and cancel the order. Phone in the store an hour later to let them know I tried to re do the order and the promotion won't come off. Representative said that the person I had spoke with was in the bathroom so I waited a bit. Person on the phone said it shouldn't be a problem said I made my way on over to the store. Got there 10 mins later and Van was still in the bathroom. Eventually he comes out and the young lady rep asks if they can just come it and Van said no. Van then proceeds to call his boss he says (Charlene Alvarez) and says that she told him I have to wait three days for it to show back up on my account. I explained this is why I had asked him to just hold the sandwich a bit and he recommended canceling the order. Spoke to Van in store about the situation and about why I had just asked him to hold the sandwich. I didn't need a freshly made sandwich if you truly did prepare this sandwich. Which may not be the case because last time I placed a mobile order for this location I arrived 10 minutes after pick up time and my mobile order ticket was sitting in the receipt paper machine. Called the general manager (Charlene Alvarez) with the business card I was given and it was to the Pratt street location. The store reps said she runs both locations and that she was not in today. I asked about the next time she'd be in and they stated they can't give out her work schedule. I was looking to communicate my experience at the charles street location with the general manager who runs the location, not for her whereabouts. Couldn't even be given the day on when the manager would be back but to spend my time calling back to both locations as they weren't sure where she'd be. Van was not hopeful one bit, very sarcastic and no where empathetic of the situation. He stated that he will tell whoever that I contact that he did not say to cancel the order and that it was simply my choice. Definitely haven't had friendly customer service interactions with the store with that guy as he's always off to the side sweeping or sitting down every time I've walked into this place. Disgusting. Came in around 6:30 PM and the place was empty. Saw one worker in the back room. Rung the bell to let them know we came in (even though they had clearly seen us), waited a minute, and nothing. It's nice they think we're dumb enough to buy the idea that they didn't hear it or didn't realize we were there. You SAW us come in, and you hate your job so much that you just couldn't bear to help yet another annoying customer. Ignoring us is cowardly and deplorable. I'd rather they straight up say to us "I don't feel like helping you." It's better than hiding in the back room hoping we'll go away. So we left. If you don't want business, then you'll lose it, and this place won't see a dime from us again. read more

I work close to this location and often find myself there during their busy lunch hour. This lunch time staff always handles the rush efficiently and effectively. I ordered a salad here from their website and was quite pleased with what I got! I had the farmhouse chicken salad but instead of bleu cheese and bacon, I substituted it with grapes and apple instead. It was pretty prompt, my order was ready the moment I walked in to pick it up. It was so easy to order online and pick it up whenever you're ready. The salad was really fresh and the portions are pretty big too. It was filling and hearty. The potbelly vinaigrette was a good choice. Definitely recommend this place for a quick grab and go for college students. Lots of seating too. read more

I tried the uptown salad, honestly just cuz I was craving fruit. It was pretty well balanced in terms of base, toppings, and dressing flavor. Overall good, although the diced apples were translucent around the edges -- meaning they had almost been frozen or had been sitting out too long. I stated my order at the order area but when I got to the pick up area, my order hadn't been entered so they didn't start making it till I told them a second time. Didn't take too long but the rest of my party had to wait for me. They should probably make the ordering process more seamless. read more

Remembered this place from when I was doing work in Evanston, IL and was quite happy when it opened up next to Pioneer Square. Easy location right off the train and near the square. Solid sandwiches, large juicy pickles, decent milk shakes, and a good selection of options for additions. My sandwich was yummy, but a couple of things bugged me. First, they wouldn't salt and pepper my friend's sandwich, because they keep salt and pepper by the drink station... Really? And second, they offer a soup and sandwich combo, but no combo with a salad. I didn't understand the decision for there to be no side salad option... You can get a side of soup, but not a side salad? I love Potbelly sandwiches! This location is very convenient and the subs here are much better than the ones at Subway (down the street). I like the interior of this store, and sometimes they have a local musician play guitar. It's on the corner, so it has big windows all the way around the store to look out onto Charles St while you eat, which is cool. The food is amazing. I go here at least once a week.
