Out and about with our 30 month old grandson, we stopped in one day for lunch. The store had a nice open interior, concrete floors, high ceilings, and the usual offerings of good sandwiches. Seating was at both high and low tables. Since you pretty much do everything yourself, service was just routine. They heat up most sandwiches and we enjoyed a couple of chicken-based sandwiches that were very nice. We also had a PB&J that sort of suffered being heated up ... don't think we'd do that one again. There is free parking for 90 minutes in a little attached multi-story garage, so everything was easy-peasy getting in. All in all very nice, and we would return. read more

This Potbelly Sandwich Shop is located at Piedmont Town Center. Since there is no longer a location in California, I have not had the chance to try Potbelly Sandwich before, although I have seen Potbelly Sandwich Shops when I travel within the US. I made an order online for Original Italian Sandwich ($10.09 prior to tax) and had selected the time to be picked up at 6:15 pm this past Friday night. I had my sandwich made on a multigrain bread and added roasted red peppers and artichoke hearts (for free, how awesome is that?) to the sandwich. The size of this sandwich is definitely enough to feed two people. This sandwich was quite loaded and definitely a little messy to eat but it was very delicious. My mom really enjoyed this sandwich (I let her have a bite and asked if she could eat the other half, lol. She really loves sandwiches too). When I entered the store, I was immediately greeted by a friendly employee and also someone I suspect to be the manager. I was helped right away and was happy to find that my sandwich was ready for me when I came in (unlike my experience at the Uptown location). I was also thanked for coming in and wished for a great day when I left. This location is bigger than the Uptown location and the parking situation is much easier too. Came here for lunch on a Thursday and ordered the roast beef and provolone (original) and my gf ordered the prime rib and broccoli cheddar soup. The service was good and quick, the atmosphere in the area is really nice and the parking was pretty easy. My only real complaint was how stingy they are with the meat. HOT TRASH. I went to order a Sandwich today and the young man (who was the manager) made my Sandwich with the same gloves he was doing something else with. (Moving boxes, or something) Sooooo disgusting and they really cheat you with the Sandwich meat as well. They tried to put one slice and a half on the sandwich. I've been working nearby for awhile now but have found other places to eat nearby. Today I found myself short on time so Potbelly it was. As I expected, there was a long line in the heart of the lunch hour so I probably waited 10 minutes or more to order. The staff is really nice and polite but they seemed to struggle with the volume of orders; they could have used at least one more person. The cashier had to double as the person fulfilling pickup orders. That caused a few minutes' delay for me to pay and I was a few minutes late for a meeting as a result. My turkey sandwich was good. The hot peppers weren't as hot as I'd hoped but the sandwich satisfied my hunger. The interior is a good size, bigger than the uptown location. It's nice to know they have half and half combos, which is exactly what I went with today. Amount of food is a good value for the price. read more

Potbelly Sandwich Shop is new to the Charlotte are with this being the newest location. I am a sandwich lover and when you can pair that with soup, I am even happier. So, Potbelly was definitely a lunch spot I was looking forward to checking out. I arrived around12:00 on a weekday, and was greeted by a line. No worries, any where in Charlotte during lunch pretty much has a line these days. However, the line seem to move pretty quickly. Potbelly is a order at the counter shop, first, select your sandwich, at which time it moves through the toaster and then add any toppings, lettuce, tomatoes, etc. and checkout. I ordered the Turkey Club, but unfortunately they forgot the bacon, one of my favorite parts of the Club. However, the sandwich was great. Toasted to perfection with melted cheese and heated turkey. So good. The broccoli and cheese soup was good, but a little heavy or thicker than I prefer. Overall I definitely enjoyed lunch and will be sure to check them out again! read more

This place really didn't hit on much at all. The staff were not very friendly at all. Matter of fact, based on their looks when we walked in the door, they would have preferred us to get hit by a passing car. Now, I am not sure why there is such a struggle bus in sub shops like this to make sandwiches correctly. There is a predefined menu of sandwiches, we made no alterations. All of the ingredients are right in front of the employee and yet they still get it wrong. 3 out of 5 sandwiches were made incorrectly despite them having a cheat sheet behind the counter. It's like cheating on a Test and failing. The first person went back to get their sandwich corrected and there was such an eye roll from the employee that I believe they saw inside their skull. For the remaining errors, it was not worth the drama to get it corrected. I also ordered a salad. Surprise, they are pre-made (incorrectly, it was missing items) and not so fresh. It did appear clean, at least in the customer areas although we had to search for a table that didn't wobble significantly that we could put our drinks down. read more

Potbelly's didn't live up to the hype. This was my first time visiting a Potbelly's and I was really expecting a WOW sandwich moment. The menu has its quirks but nothing was peaking my interest. I ended up with the Italian sandwich. The flavor was average. They don't have vinegar to add to the sandwiches just oil and I'm not a mayo/mustard fan so my sandwich was a little dry. I did like that the sandwiches are toasted and they offer red and white onions to top your sandwich. This location is in a nice spot and I can bet it gets super busy during lunch time. My visit was off peak time and we had the place to ourselves. The employees were helpful and provided recommendations and assistance in the ordering process. The device they use to cut the bread is a little weird but it gets the job done. I would have liked to get some of the Zapp chips but the flavors mostly seemed like spicy flavors and I wasn't looking for any heat. I just skipped over chips. They do have a perk program but I wasn't even very interested in joining it. I can tell I was underwhelmed because I didn't even snap a picture of the sandwich. Sooo 1st time I ordered here. Won't be back. No one gets me for the first 5 min. Food was not ready when promised... needed 2pm pickup and it was 209 before I left. This place is just okay for me. I've had the Italian sandwich, Farmhouse salad and the chili. I'm not really a fan of toasted sandwiches and that seems to be their thing. The salad was pretty good. The chili was simple, not spicy or overwhelmed with beans. I like the option of Pick Your Pair and the pricing is reasonable. I was greeted when I walked in. My sandwich creator allowed me to take my time to order. I got what I always get, but she was willing to add suggestions if I wanted. This was my go to place during a three month period when I worked on the road in Columbus, Ohio a few years ago, so I was super excited when it opened across the street from my office this summer. Sadly for me, my first few visits to this location right after it opened were disappointing, mostly because of rude service. In fact, I walked out during an early visit because the sandwich maker was so rude. I heard the same feedback from others. After boycotting it for a few seasons, I tried it again three or four times over the past month, and they have completely turned things around. The staff is now completely friendly and the sandwiches are the best from any sub chain in Charlotte. We even had them deliver to our office for a work meeting last Friday, and we totally satisfied. Everything here is good. I tend to order the big roast beef or the big Italian, but healthier options like the flatbread sandwiches look good. They carry New Orleans Zapps chips, which are top notch. The deserts are great. Plus, apparently, kids eat free most of the day on Sundays, so I will be back on the weekend with my family. If you've been to one...you've been to them all. I have to say that I frequent this location due to convenience from my job. The subs are not really that good. As I prefer Jimmy John's and/or Lennys over Potbelly. Sometimes the employee's have a horrible attitude like she really doesn't want to be at work and hate her life. It's often transferred to the customers as you can look around and see peoples faces when interacting with her. That aside and back to the sandwiches. The pricing on the menu can be somewhat misleading now that they have increased them. You have to make sure that you tell the guy/girl that is making the sandwich not to toast it if you dont want it toasted. That seems to be their process. Their cookies are delicious! I go in two - three times per week to get a sugar cookie. Unfortunately for me, in order to get a smile(perks from their rewards program your total has to be more than $2. The cookies are $2 even. Speaking of the rewards program, its pretty good. Always free treats and rewards. I went in on this visit and often the scan code for their rewards program will not open/load if you try to open it inside of the store. I had my phone in my hand when checking out and got distracted with making sure my order was correct so I forgot to give it to the cashier. She entered the amount of cash I had given her and as she was pressing total I asked if it was too late to get my perks. She simply said yes! I was thinking da%& but no need to go through the hassle. I've lost many points bc of various reasons but this time I used the app to have it corrected. I contacted Help Desk via the app and with 15 mins I had my points added. All I needed was my receipt. Finally! A restaurant in Piedmont Town Center with prices for the working stiff. I'm a sucker for a good sub, especially one that spends time in the oven to get the crust, meat and cheese all happy together. Potbelly (Why does this have 3 Ls?) serves a great selection of hot and cold subs, salads, soups and even Shakes. The fact they do this here and still make it affordable for the working stiff lunch crowd endears them to me greatly. I lived in Chicago for 5 years and Potbelly was a weekly staple. I was so excited to hear they were coming to Charlotte. I have been to the uptown location a few times and everything was perfect (reviewed 5 stars). The food itself was amazing as usual but unfortunately the service at this particular location is consistently poor. I have been multiple times now and each time I have gotten a vibe that the employees don't really want to be there and they don't really care if I am there or not. Surprising because all other locations I have been to the service is excellent. For some reason this location does not fit that mold. I've visited their Charlotte area locations on several occasions, and the product is always up to Potbelly's standard. Their bread comes from the Turano Bread Company, one of the best bakeries in the country. If you've never tried Potbelly, I recommend their Hammy Skinny. My co workers and I order from here at least once a week. Today we decided to eat in. Charnese was amazing. This location was slammed, Im talking 25 online tickets deep and a long line for in house guests. This girl got all of our in house orders right from memory, made like 15 salads in 5 mins flat and got all the substitutions and additions correct and didn't even look frustrated once. She is incredibly hard working and sets an incredible example for what grace under pressure looks like. The food is good too but Charnese was perfection. read more
