Lunch for 11 went super easy. I have seen other sandwich chains that have a system where you can send a menu link to your colleagues and it all lands on the same order. They don't have that here so there was some coordinating over Microsoft teams. Food arrived EARLY (they promised 12:15 and the lady called us at 12:05). She had made a mistake and only walked in one bag of salads which we noticed seemed pretty light for 11 people but she ran right back out to the car and got the second and third bags. We ordered lunches for a work event and they were... fine. The food is nothing to write home about (I had the chicken salad sandwich) and I wish the boxes were a bit more filling with a veggie or fruit included. The bread is flavorless and crumbly. I chose a turkey and provolone on thin-sliced bread, toasted, several toppings and roasted garlic aoili. As a cookie reviewer, it is my duty to put a review online. I was given their Sugar Cookie as a thank-you gift. It was just an average sugar cookie. I much prefer sugar cookies that are soft and gooey; this was very crumbly and dried out. I am not sure that I believe that it was baked fresh since it cracked on its own from being dried out. First time here, unfortunately my last. But here's the catch... It wasn't a bad experience, just grossly underwhelming. The decor says trendy farmhouse (which I love), but the food just wasn't great. It was just ok. I got the original Italian sandwich which sounded great but was very one note in its flavor. Salty meats and not enough cheese. It was a little better when I added some pickle and tomato to balance the flavor but overall just ok. I kept thinking it would be much better as a cold sandwich. PSA - the Peppers are HOT. You are warned. I ordered online for pick-up, Slim (turkey/avo) and Power salad combo. Both the salad and the sandwich tasted FANTASTIC, but holy smokes... I added the peppers and they are SOOOO HOT. I am a spicy food person and I regularly get banana peppers or gardinar on my sandwiches. I've been to two other Locations and the sandwiches were ok. I have to tell you if they were like this location i would've gone back. In fact this place was so good yesterday, we came back for lunch again today. Yesterday I had the meatball sub on wheat and it was superb. Not overly sauced but still a hearty lunch. I had the bbq potato chips but I was disappointed in them. Other brands are better. I had bottled water and it was a great choice because it didn't interfere with the flavor. I hate to compare this to Subway, but it's the easiest way to explain this sandwich shop. You walk in and are met with a variety of different sandwich options. There's a assembly line where you tell the staff what you want. The protein goes on first and then the toppings. In the end, they wrap the sandwich up, and you pay. Sounds familiar right? But this place is soooo much better than Subway. I had the grilled chicken and cheddar sub on multigrain bread with all the toppings and was very surprised as to how fresh and tasty the sub was. Mind you, the sandwich was a little pricier than a Subway, but well worth it. Even though it was my first time at a Potbelly's, the staff was friendly and very patient with any questions I had. I like to get a regular Turkey Club on white bread with lettuce, tomato, mayo, and mustard. I make it a meal so that it comes with chips and a drink. I come here typically during the lunch rush, but the service is really fast so I have never had to wait long. In case you don't know, after you order your desired sandwich, you tell them what condiments you want on your sandwich before you pay, even though those condiments may already be listed with the sandwich you ordered on the menu. If you decide to eat here rather than taking your food to-go, it's not too noisy inside and there are plenty of places to sit and enjoy your food. Potbelly Reminds me a lot of Pickleman's Sandwhich Shop. I have heard a lot of people mention how amazing Potbelly's is but I didn't have one close enough to me to try it out. When this one opened up I stopped by during the week to pick up lunch and it was like a deja-Pickleman!!! It has the same style menu and vibe and decor. I will say that Potbellys is a little more cozier if I had to compare. The place was PACKED during rush hour lunch time. The line was long but it was moving. The tables were all filled. People were hustling and bustling. I was hoping that a Harlem Shake would break out but unfortunately my hopes were unrealistic. I had the meatball sub and it was delicious. Toasted to full crispy capacity. I have also tried the Roast Beef and that one was also really delicious. The chili is also good too. I guess I can say I have had consistently good food here so far. It was not as busy on a Saturday afternoon, but what restaurant in Clayton is busy in the afternoon on a weekend anyways? I know this place will get a lot of business during the work week though. Remember how delicious Subway used to be? Twenty years ago... When the bread was delectably soft and the meats were better than Buddig lunchmeats? I had to get to work so I hopped on potbelly's app and ordered dinner for myself and my kids. Ordered delivery as I was trying to get ready and seemed the best way to get it done. The app asked what time to deliver, I select ASAP and it tells me about 3:20 pm. Ok cool, I complete my order. Then, I get an email thank me for my order and telling me it should be delivered on 11/11 about 11 am! What?!?! Today is 11/10. That's tomorrow. So I call and Austin answers the phone. I explain to him my problem and he says "yeah our store doesn't air any delivery orders after 2pm" and then asks me if I'd like to switch to carry out or cancel my order and he would not run my card! I asked how long it would be until it was ready and he said an additional 20-25 minutes WOW! I told him never mind and just to cancel. I then clarified that they wouldn't run my card, he said that's correct. Shortly after hangin up I get notification that my card has been charged $44.60. What?!?! I call back and Austin answers again. He explains that it will go away overnight. I explained that wasn't the biggest issue and the fact that their system never told me that they couldn't deliver today but just assumed it was ok to push it back a day, was. His response was that this store doesn't do delivery after 2 pm. I explained again that I was never advised of this before charging my card. "Ma'am I just work here!" I then asked for his manager and he explained he was the manager on duty right now. I asked for the store managers name and contact info. "I can't give that to you!" So now I have no name, no number, had to get food somewhere else and pat yet again. Absolutely awful experience and unless I hear from the store manager in the am with some sort of apology will never return. read more
