We visited Snarf's during PorchFest. We were really impressed with the allergy labeling of their food (we both have food allergies). They have a good selection of sandwiches and salads, plus chips and sides, of course and a cane sugar soda fountain. Ambiance is casual. Restaurant was clean. There is street parking or restaurant parking spots reserved for customers in the lot across the street. Service was prompt and friendly. Snarf's in University City is solid. I had the Cuban (July's special) and my partner had the Prime Rib & Provolone. Both were fantastic. The bread was fresh with that perfect crispy outside, soft inside combo. You can tell they know how to build a good sandwich. The menu is simple and not overwhelming, which made ordering easy. The place was clean, with a nice little outdoor area if you want to sit outside. We ate in, but there were quite a few online orders going out, so they definitely stay busy. It's snarf's, so that means it's better than subway and jimmy john's but far less superior than Blue City Deli. It might be better than which which? The thing about this location is it's near the Loop, but not on the Loop. So it has some parking near forest park. Why the hell do we need 2 snarfs that is .25 from each other? Nevertheless, I adore this location. It has ice-cream, lots of seating, patios with pretty lights, beer, wifi, and it is located in a building where I use to live. I'm so glad it wasn't there when I lived there b/c I'll be here everyday - but at least I could bum off the wifi when I'm in the main lobby. Things to note: 1) No banana peppers! Only hot peppers! 2) Sometimes- the water and soda machine is broken 3) 1 TV for games 4) Music is relatively loud in here, so I wouldn't really study/do work here unless you are on the patio. read more

Snarfs always makes meals in a timely manner which is important for a lunch spot. I always get the Italian sandwich and boy is it satisfying. The bread is also nice and toasty, maybe a little too crunchy but still great. The dressed lettuce and onions adds needed acidity. Their house pickled peppers are also a nice acidic addition to the sandwich. The Mayo tends to combine with the oil to make it very greasy. (Albeit very tasty, it is heavy on you). The meat is typical (pepperoni/salami/Capicola) and not very overwhelming. I would say that it's not super high quality meat but I personally don't mind that. Provolone is nice and melty. I would pass on the meatball subs, nothing remarkable. The chicken ceasar sub is really good! It's a mix of rotisserie chicken with Caesar and Marinara, but it's a heavy, messy, salty mess. But it's a guilty pleasure. Prices could be cheaper! They do take bear bucks if you Are a washu student. read more

It was cozy inside, seating was comfortable, and there were lots of tables. There was outdoor seating too, but since it was cold no one sat out there. Rotisserie chicken as sgood and the PB & banana is always a good choice, even if you're 23! There's a lot across the street for parking but make sure you don't park in the churches spots. We had no issue finding someplace to park. The girl who took our order was friendly but definitely left her mind at home that day. She had to ask us to repeat our order more than once and we couldn't get much out of her other than taking our base order. Great food. Worst service! Ever. Had a bad experience. Emailed the company. They got back to me, told me it's hard to find good help in the city. Offered a $30 gift card so I went back on another shift so as not to meet the bad "city" help. When I returned over 2 weeks later ( plenty of time to put my $30 credit in) When I told the lady what should be waiting for me, she came out and actually seemed to try to make me feel bad for thinking I had a $30 credit. All this was over a year ago. Went back because I was in the area against my better judgement, and the service was still bad. Not as bad but sure not friendly. Done with Snarf's / Skinker Not tearing you down lady. Your "city help" as you referred to it on your call to me one evening is less than friendly and the reason for my bad review. They rip you off with very sparse meat on a whole lotta bread and very thin tomatoes and Fixn's on the sandwich. I wouldn't put in the effort to stop in and buy a sandwich unless your close to one or in a hurry. Sorry to the owner but the truth hurts. My first time going to a Snarfs was in Boulder, CO years ago and I remember it being soooo good. Don't get me wrong their sandwiches are still good but nowadays there are a lot of good sandwich places to compare. Needless to say I just moved to St Louis and I'm glad they're here so I can have some more often. The decor is nice and the staff is very friendly. This location is much bigger than the one in Boulder from what I remember. The menu seems to have grown since then but I just had the "normal" sandwiches . I had their turkey and Swiss which is very similar to Potbelly's but with much more meat but it was also a little more expensive than Potbelly's. My daughter let me try her meatball sandwich and that was very good with not too much sauce and the right amount of cheese. I also had the chocolate shake but that was a little bland and too liquidy. The prices are fair considering the sandwiches are good and they fill you up. Next time I'll try some of their more original sandwiches. read more

This Snarf's was a gnarly surprise on the sweet corner of almost home and hungry! I've never been a huge fan of cold sandwiches but I thought I'd walk in and see if they had anything warm.  This place has a huge patio for outside eating and the inside dining area is sizeable and attractively decorated. I walked in and was sincerely greeted and the first thing that caught my eye was oh my gosh they have ice cream here too! I saw a stand with many flavors of chips. The menu is prominently displayed and you can make custom sandwiches or go with a combo that is preselected. This particular week I was doing all veggies and to my surprise they had what looked like a sumptuously sauced up Eggplant Parmesan, so I ordered it. Now for this to be a fast sandwich shop, this Eggplant Parmesan was leagues apart from others I've had at other places. Yet always wanting something sweet, after I saw all the additional toppings they offer I went ahead and added cranberries for the cute extra kick. My bread was toasted just right - there was lots of sauce just how I like but the whole sandwich stayed firmly together. The Attendants were especially pleasant even though I added the cranberries after assembly. They told me about their special menu, that they accept Bear Bucks and that they even serve breakfast here. There are many bottled beverages/waters to pick from and beer if anyone fancies. This location is really close to me and doesn't seem to be as chaotic as the one off of Grand. Update: went back, bread was perfect and I had the best eggplant sandwich of my life (the first one I've ever had). The man helping me suggested no mayo because of the marinara sauce and he was absolutely right. Fantastic service. Glad that we came back! I love all the toppings available for the sandwiches.
