Okay, I forgot to feed the camera. I was really hungry, sorry. Please feast your eyes on the interior shots. We were tired after walking in a parade, and needed some good food. I spotted this place on our way back to the car, and we decided to go there. We both got their Prime Rib Steak Sandwich, with chips and a drink. I also splurged and got a Chocolate Chip Cookie. The sandwiches were very tasty and nicely prepared. The chips were, well, chips. They were fresh and not beyond their freshness date. The chocolate chip cookie was tasty! By far the nastiest sandwiches we ever ordered from any Potbellys. The bread was WET! It was as if they dipped them in water and then wrapped them. The sandwich was inedible. I haven't gotten a Potbelly's sandwich since I can remember. The reason being is I remember them being so small for the price that it was never worth going. I saw an advertisement saying that they have made their sandwiches larger and I was craving one so why not give another try. I got the BLTA and it was pretty good - the bacon tasted heavily peppered which wasn't necessarily my favorite thing but overall it was a really good sandwich. The size was good for the price as well so that wasn't an issue like it had been the last time I got Potbelly. I ordered it to go and apparently someone had taken my to-go order from their take-out area. The staff immediately made my order so I appreciate that. First time at this location but I've been to 2 other Potbellys- but that was at least 5-6 years ago. I've tended to avoid Potbellys due to lack of interesting vegetarian options but I gave them another try tonight and overall had a fine experience, once I figured out where to order and how the process worked. The signage is confusing and overwhelming to decipher- lots of small print and signs everywhere. I ordered a standard size sub and with a bottle of Diet Coke it came to $8.50 which is fine but I actually left still hungry. I realized after ordering that mushrooms can be added for an additional cost but only saw that sign after I'd paid. The actual vegetables that can be added for free seem only to be lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle. It would have been nice to have more like spinach, cucumbers, peppers or mushrooms. The lady did offer guacamole for an extra fee. The table area was clean and well- maintained. The two staff members were pleasant and enthusiastic. Lots of drinks and chips for sale. Free parking lot right off St. Charles so easy to access. Pretty quiet- only 2 other tables occupied and minimal ambient noise. Overall a positive experience and I'll be back. read more

This location sucks. Go to a different potbelly closer. Worth the drive. I work in customer service and I would have a stern talking to if I treated a customer like they treated me today. I got potbelly for the first time a couple weeks ago at a different location and loved it! So I went back for lunch to this location and the sandwich barely had any toppings in it. I just suggest going to a different location not only for better service but for a nicer sandwich worth the price you are paying for it. read more

Mmmmm Potbelly. No matter where you go they are always consistent. I usually get the Italian, wreck, or chicken salad sandwiches - all delicious. They got rid of Orangina , but glad they have San Pellegrino instead which is just as good, maybe even better. The desserts are my fav: love the oatmeal chocolate cookies and the oreo shake. Has to be hands down the best oreo shake I've had. Also, the cheddar broccoli soup is pretty much just as good as Panera's. read more

Food here is serviceable like at most Potbelly stores, I often have the various sandwiches and salads but I steer away from the soups. The photo shows a Big Turkey and Swiss with avocado and all the trimmings, tasty as always. But cleanliness is an ongoing problem here.  The tables and ajacent wall and floor areas are poorly maintained, the photos show just how filthy the walls are. They are disgusting, and this is not fresh accumulation.  It's happened over a period of years and months, try to take a dry napkin to it and see if any of it comes off. The problem is all along the walls table to table. This is a symptom of ongoing deferred maintenance, inattention to cleanliness and lack of regard for the customers. What bothers me more is that anyone would ever need to point this out to them, and I did tonight, asking the nice lady behind the counter to pass the word along to a manager. Having worked in food service, I know what it takes to keep a wall adjacent to a sitting area clean, and it's not really brain surgery even if you haven't worked in food service.  If done properly and often, it would never get to the point that it has at this location. If you are concerned about aesthetics and would lose your appetite sitting down at one of these tables, my guess is you might not even want to use this location for carryout - because what else is going on behind the scenes, if what's in view of the customers is so bad? But sad to say that, as the service here is usually pleasant if sometimes slow. So from the top (corporate) down, an effort must be made to re-train everybody involved in the service and cleanliness chain - because it's apparent that pride of ownership and responsibility to customers and the eating experience is poorly understood. read more

I love Potbelly's. They have the best sandwiches ever. I come her at least once a week. The staff is really great and they are all young. They are easy to talk to and whenever Im there I smile. Its a great place to eat and its a great atmosphere. I get the wreck on white and you can choose between wheat and white. There are also skinny, bigs or original sizes. you have a lot of food choices to choose from. There cookies are amazing and so are there shakes. All I say is that I'm definitely a fan of the new flatbread. Had the turkey swiss flatbread at lunch and really enjoyed it. This Potbelly has some outside seating and the weather was perfect. As an added bonus, the guitar guy was stuck inside and we could barely hear him through the windows. Not that he was bad, actually he was a good player and singer, but the problem at Potbelly is the acoustics. It's virtually impossible to hold a conversation, even without a live musician. Wow, I have not been to a Potbelly's in years. We were hungry so we ordered the "BIGGY" roast beef and provolne sandwich with extra cheese. We sat and opened the sandwichs and were terribly disappointed. The bread was soft, toasted nicely and about 12" long and it was hard to see if there was anything actually ON the bread. I opened the sandwich and there was a very thin layer of 'beef' and the 'extra' cheese was a dab of cheese on about 1/4 of the sandwich. Absolutely wonderful. The little boutique is very quaint/old-fashioned and perfect for the needs of a family. They make the sandwiches with care and make sure to add extra portions if you are dining with other people. The strawberry milkshake, their malts, and cookies are extremely well-done -- very high quality, could not be mistaken for a Lunchbox Laboratory milkshake -- one of the best milkshakes in the USA. It's 1:00 pm and I'm starving. Can't think of a single place to eat lunch in Elmhurst. Then, inspiration strikes like a bolt of delicious lightning: THERE IS A POTBELLY'S IN ELMHURST NOW! I'm kind of a deli meat snob. As in, it kind of weirds me out so I stay away from it and in return the deli meat thinks I think I'm too good for it. Or something like that. Bottom line is I don't eat sliced deli meat. Until Potbelly's. The warm subs are so good. My faves are the Italian and the Ham, both on wheat. The staff are super peppy and chat with you while your sub is prepared. They seem genuinely interested in how your day is going, which is refreshing when you eat lunch out 5 days a week. OH, and the most important part............................. Don't leave without a Dream Bar. It's 7,948,293 layers (approximately) of deliciousness in a convenient bar form! We have been to a Potbelly one other time (the Northlake store). Nice crowd awaited us inside...and thankfully a nice table available in the corner (next to a Muddy Waters picture). Wifey had the grilled chicken and cheddar Original size. On wheat please. Toasted yes. Mustard + tomato + lettuce. As she ate she told me jalapenos would have been nice (I did not know that Wifey liked jalapenos on her sandwich!!! Shame on me!!). I went with Original Smoked Ham and Swiss. White bread toasted with tomato & onion & jalapeno & lettuce. Very tasty sandwiches. I like the bread here. Wifey had the IBC root beer and I had a MASH-some sort of pomegranate and blueberry low cal beverage (Boylan Bottling product). I like it. There are hand dipped shakes, malts and smoothies (real fruit options include Banana, Mixed Berry and Strawberry. There are cookies (the cherry chocolate granola cookie sounds interesting) and ice cream sandwiches. Of note is a actual potbelly stove in the middle of the store. Also note the Elmhurst-ification of the store...........York Dukes logo on the wall + Blue Jay stuff (for Elmhurst College) + old photos/articles on Elmhurst. I've been here a few times and I'm never not satisfied with the food. My last visit was a chilly winter afternoon on a Sunday. The place was packed and this Potbelly is considerably smaller than other Potbelly's I've been to before. The line was long and I love their 8 minute guarantee, usually they're so fast that my 5 minute wait felt like 15... I was also extremely hungry so that could have added to it. The staff seemed overwhelmed with the influx of incoming foot traffic as well as online orders. I looked over the counter and witnessed more than 6 sandwiches piling up on the oven belt, mine included. I believe they may have been short staffed... The food was great, as always, and our bill was cheaper than normal. I think they accommodated us since they didn't have the type of bread my husband ordered for his sandwich. Not a big deal for us but we appreciate the service and consideration. My advice: go in the warmer months when they have the patio open or even during off peak lunch hours. Of the two times that I've been to this Potbelly's location, I've been very impressed. The first time around, the staff were friendly and speedy, and the quality of the food was what I'd expect from a sandwich specialty restaurant. The place is always clean as well. Today, we came in to find a guitar player serenading the dining area. The staff were also giving out free samples of their flatbread sandwiches, which was a nice and refreshing change as well. If you haven't dined at Potbelly's before, consider it a higher scale version of Subway and Jersey Mikes, but with a more country theme to it. The sandwiches themselves aren't as big (or filling for that matter) as Jimmy Johns, but the one differentiator is the toasted sandwiches here. The grilled chicken and cheddar sandwich is really good. Overall, Potbelly's is a good sandwich restaurant franchise, but given the competition between many of the other sandwich places in the Elmhurst area, it's hard for me to want to choose it over the competition. I went in there with my 22 month old who happened to touch the case where you get drinks. They grease it so it slides open. He got it all over his hands, and mine too. I asked the very grumpy and unfriendly worker for a paper towel with water on it or something. She then tells me she does not have that??????? Um, this is called being lazy.
