Located in a busy shopping center, you'll find a free parking spot without too much effort. Ambiance (4/5): For a fast casual restaurant, Potbelly was what I expected. Clean, comfortable, and the ambiance is what you would expect at a restaurant of the sort. Service (4.5/5): Friendly, efficient service. Exactly what you hope for at a sandwich shop where they make your food in front of you. Drinks (4/5): Unlike most sub shops, Potbelly has milkshakes. That's a win in my book! They even put a little shortbread cookie on top. I went with their banana pudding shake. A nice compliment to their subs. And of course, they also have the typical assortment of soft drinks. Food (4/5): Every sub chain has little things that make each of them different. Overall, I'd say the quality of the meat and produce here is better than Subway. I went with a giant chicken club sub on multigrain and added tortilla strips, tomatoes, pickles, oil and vinegar, and chipotle lime sauce. The tortilla strips and the chipotle lime sauce (which isn't spicy) were unique options. I dug it. For what it is, Potbelly is pretty solid in my book. read more

The store opens at 10AM, and I was next door at Starbucks, but I wanted a sandwich. So I went into potbelly and had to wait behind a man who was chit chatting up the potbelly customer service lady with a wig who was making the sandwiches. This went on for 10 minutes and I thought it was a big order but it was only ONE sandwich. When I got to the "front of the line" to order this lady with a wig took my order and was antagonizing me and made multiple degrading comments to me after I placed my order that were totally unprovoked. I've never met this person before, and I know this because I'd remember that wig! Her comments and bad behavior made me concerned for my food safety since she was starting my sandwich and making it. So I left after canceling my order. It seems like she was upset with me for being "next in line" and cutting her conversation short with this man that happened to be in front of me; YET there were only two customers in potbelly and three customer service peeps, no one else! I love the Mediterranean sandwich at Potbelly. I usually add chicken and mushrooms to it and last time, I added just a tiny bit of mustard and mayo and it was perfect. The usual toppings for this sandwich are roasted red peppers, marinated artichokes and cucumbers. It is originally a vegetarian sandwich of hummus and feta cheese (until I add the chicken) so vegetarians can enjoy this sandwich as well. At potbelly, you walk in, order your sandwich and it goes through a big toaster, comes out the other side where someone else receives it and asks you if you like all of the toppings your sandwich usually comes with and if you like additional ones. You then decide if you want a meal and pay. Very easy, very quick, affordable price and the sandwich is delicious. I tried some of their other sandwiches like turkey and roast beef at work when the company was buying us lunch, and they were also great. Their chili peppers are great and can be added to sandwiches or can be even bought in a large jar to take home and enjoy. I wish they would open a store closer to my house, and I'll be a regular customer! Did I mention they deliver? My first time at Potbelly for a quick sandwich after running about town! The place is quaintly decorated. You wait in line, then they take your order and prepare your sandwich. It seemed pretty busy and there were only two employees, yet they handled the busy pace well! I chose the BLTA- basically a BLT with Avocado. My hubby had the Grilled Chicken & Cheddar. Both the sandwiches were fresh and delicious. Lots of bacon on mine and the avocado was very yummy! My husband enjoyed his very much and we shared a Huge Pickle! The pickle was crisp and so yummy! When you are from out of town and decide to visit Scottsdale... you quickly start to fall in love with going around and trying new restaurants. My sister was taking us to all of the hot spots and this was one place on her list. I was excited for it. I am a huge fan of subs. During this trip it was just my sister and my best friend. We all ordered different items. I ordered the turkey club, my bestie ordered the half sub and salad combo ( I don't remember her sandwich ) and my sister ordered the A Wreck. We also got a strawberry smoothie and a mango smoothie as well as 2 cookies. The young server who was taking our order was super friendly. He was also really funny. He helped me without hesitation when it came to deciding on two sandwiches. He was great. I'll double check my receipt and see if his name is on their. I'll update this review later. We ordered our food to go. The only reason I have this review 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the way the meat was in the sandwich. I'm a texture kind of person and Turkey chunks wasn't doing it for me. Everything else was amazing though! I just didn't realize that's how the meat was prepared. Man I love this place! They don't SCREAM at you when you walk through the door or ask for donations at the register like another local sub joint does ;-) Instead I'm always greeted by enthusiastic professional crew members that are fantastic at their job! I've been coming here since they opened and I have to say the food and service are always consistent. It is my opinion that a sub sandwich that's toasted needs to be eaten right away to fully enjoy. If you only get a hot sub to go, try it and find it soggy or otherwise not to your liking, try the same one dining in instead and see the difference! I used to think their meatball subs were very good and got them once a week. Ordered them to go and drove 1 mile opened it up and had a good meal. When I finally decided to dine in I had the same meatball sub and it went from very good to AMAZING!! The bread was nice and crisp and there was a toasty crunch when you bite into the sub that wasn't as pronounced when it was wrapped up even if for only a few minutes. Meatball sub is the 'wettest' variety that you'll encounter here but what about the other types offered? There is something to be said for the bread being hot and the ingredients of your sub still having some of their original crunch and texture. Anyone old enough to remember the MCDONALD'S McD. LT? The packaging kept lettuce and such on 1 side and meat on the other until you combine them. Similar concept, don't let hot food stay wrapped up or your whole meal will become less than awesome! Don't eat here! I ate here months ago and I got sick from it. I threw up a few hours after eating here. The bread was stale and then I opened the sandwich and realized it had a hair in it. So I threw it out then I threw up a few hours after and had a headache which normally doesn't happen to me. I called and actually reported them to the health department and they interviewed me and said food poisoning only happens days after you eat something bad. Well I disagree! Everyone is different and when you have a high metabolism it doesn't. They basically didn't believe me at the health department so it was a waste of time calling. I don't know why these places claim to be so good or have such good ratings when in reality they are a health concern. I don't have a picture because it was so gross I just threw it out. I ordered the sandwich from DoorDash because I was leaving town and I didn't have time to do anything else. So don't waste your time or money here. I will never eat here again. read more

Nice hot sandwiches in a super cute shop with nice fixins and smaller, reasonably priced portions. The ingredients are a little more interesting than average. Their vegetarian sandwich has humus, feta and artichoke, instead of the usual veg offering: just multiple deli cheeses. They offer mushrooms as a topping (always delicious) and heating the sandwich really does give it a little something extra. Their pizza sauce is tasty (and the pizza sandwich makes a nice veggie alternative if you replace the meat with mushrooms and sliced tomatoes). They have lots of great options like thin-sliced rolls (they'll take out some of the middle for you), and they list the calories next to everything, including the desserts. The food isn't huge, and is priced accordingly. My husband and I are big fans of that set-up. We wish this shop were closer to home! read more

This was our first (and last) visit to this restaurant. The gal who took the phone order wasn't rude but brusque. The chickpea salad was good, but they missed taking the onion off - and there were many. The tuna was ok but very bland - no taste at all really. The pizza sandwich was the biggest disappointment. They totally forgot the marinara sauce and provolone cheese. So there was one small meatball, a couple mushrooms and a small slice of capicola. Bland and miserable. I wish I could post a pic.
