If you are looking for the absolute best place to keep your cats while you're away (or in our case, while your house is a hot mess and under construction), this place is it. They took our cats in last minute, and even took our cats to a vet to get the vaccines needed for them to stay at the hotel. It was so convenient and helpful considering we were already stressed out with the construction and didn't have time to bring them to get vaccines. They sent daily updates and photos of the cats, and were flexible when we had to change the check out date multiple times. They were always super sweet, incredibly thoughtful, and quick to respond. They definitely gave our cats just as much (if not more) attention than we give them. Our cats were so happy and relaxed (although why wouldn't they be when they're literally at the Four Seasons for cats) and we will definitely be going back whenever we need them again! read more

I've been on the hunt for the longest time to find a cat grooming service on island. I found it super difficult to bathe my cat on my own, let alone cut his hair. During my time, researching different cat grooming services, Pounce Hawaii was one of the only few to pop up. The attention to detail, professionalism, and cat knowledge was relieving to read on their website that ranged from the various services of haircuts, boarding, prepping before the appointment, etc. Boretta explained everything clearly and left me feeling comfortable with dropping off my cat to his haircut and bath appointment for the first time. When picking up my cat, he was so soft and smelled so good from the time I received him to a couple days after his initial appointment! He's been so content with his haircut and is happily laying on his bed, enjoying the summer breeze! If you are looking for a trustworthy and caring cat grooming company, search no longer! Located on Queen Street near Waikiki Brewing Company, Pounce Hawaii is a fantastic resource in the Kaka'ako area for your kitties! They offer salon services, cat lounge to visit adoptable cats and kittens, and cat boarding if you are traveling. I reached out via Yelp to check to see if they do cat nail trims (online, it had said it was only available if you book a cat bath package). Lo and behold, Boretta one of the owners, responded back that they do offer and to give them a call to book. Yay! TIP: follow them on Instagram! They post a lot about adoptable cats and kittens, as well as any changes to their hours and services. They even ran a promotion for 50% off spa purchases. I did my cat nail trim and pre-paid for the 50% off bath packages for my two cats (which will include nail trims). Such a great deal! Boretta is professional and friendly. When I came to pick up my cats, she talked to me a little about how she was not able to trim one of my cat's nails because it was growing back. My naughty cat was probably playing and snagged it on something. Loved her attention to detail and honesty. I also found that they have a good relationship with Alii Animal Pet Hospital down the road. This is great because my cats are patients there, so that relationship makes me feel even more comfortable bringing them here. Can't wait to bring my cats back for their baths next month. We recently adopted from Pounce Hawaii, and I must say, I was very impressed. We initially viewed cats on the Humane Society website, but if the cat you want is at Pounce, check their website (updated daily) to see if they're actually still there. I signed up online for a time slot. It's $20 on weekends and $15 on weekdays per person for an hour with the cats. I went with my sister and we were the only ones in our time slot. When we got there, the place was clean and nicely furnished (human and cat furniture)! We got to pick a few toys to play with them (you can also purchase catnip and treats) and it was just as fun as you would expect. After spending some time with the cats, we decided on a sweet 1-year-old cat named Melia, who we renamed Chi. Boretta, one of the owners, was very friendly and accommodating. She answered all of our questions and explained everything we needed to know. The adoption process was only about 20 minutes (less if you don't have as many questions) and we were able to take Chi home that day. It's recommended you start your new adoptee on the food they've been fed at the shelter (and slowly transition them to avoid upsetting their stomach), so we bought a bag of it there. They also have pine litter (I recommend this), catnip spray and canned wet food available. Adoption fees are $100 for kittens and $50 for adult cats. For Chi we paid $50 on top of the food (about $40). Overall, this was a wonderful and streamlined experience. Boretta is excellent and I am so glad I came here to adopt. read more

This was our first family trip away with a pet, so we were very worried about what to expect. We didn't want to board our Junior at a place too far from home, nor a place where he would be in a crate majority of the time, nor use a service where they come to your home... so when we found Pounce Hawaii with a simple Google/Yelp search we were very pleased with the result. This is a fairly new company, but their website was very easy to maneuver. Not only that, Erin and Boretta was extremely helpful, attentive, and easy to work with. They helped with our many questions and our request to tour the facility. The second we arrived to tour, I knew this place was the one. The facility was clean, and easy to find. We loved the different suites, and the schedule they laid out for us. Erin and Boretta also helped seal the deal with their friendliness. Through out our trip they kept us updated; we really appreciated it. We missed Junior a lot! Also, Junior is not used to being around new people. He especially doesn't like anyone at the Vet, so I was worried about how he'd take it without his family and with strangers... but I'm glad Junior was able to open up to them. This says a lot! We visited Pounce Hawaii on Monday, November 20 to play with the kittens available for adoption. It was a wonderful experience to interact with the kittens in an intimate setting. All of the kittens are clearly well taken care of and seemed very happy to have company. We had a hard time making a selection, but went home with two sweet kittens who have fit right in with our family. I applaud the Hawaiian Humane Society for expanding their adoption locations through places like Pounce Hawaii. The staff person who assisted us with the adoptions was very professional and thoroughly reviewed each kitten's medical status with us. The Queen Street location was very convenient and has free parking attached to the building. I would definitely recommend Pounce Hawaii to anyone looking to adopt or board a kitten or cat! read more

Bernadette (I think that's her name...I kind hard of hearing) explained their process. From shampoo to cut and all the extras I asked for. The facility looks clean, I didn't go inside but the parking area and the viewing areas were tidy. It took a couple hours until they were finished which was to be expected. You can tell everyone at Pounce Hawaii is a "cat person" -- from our first call to the second and third calls to our cat, Shiso's, actual grooming, everyone genuinely cared about our cat and went above and beyond to accommodate his (and our) well-being. So much kindness and quality care, even for our rather dramatic situation! We'd literally just gotten off the plane moving from DC to Hawaii when we realized our cat had not enjoyed it at all. A pet moving service (that shall go unnamed) delivered Shiso to us in a vehicle with three barking dogs in crates adjacent to his carrier. They scared the crap out of him (literally), plus he'd sprayed all over the place. My partner and I tried to clean him as best we could but quickly realized we needed a pro ASAP. Imagine, if you will, one of us trying to pull $%^& off our poor cat's backside while the other combed the web and fielded calls, seeking help for our poor cat. Enter Pounce Hawaii. When we first called, they told us they were fully booked that day and could see him the next day. We shared with them what had happened, and they immediately said they'd make room for him right then and there. Boretta, who took our call, essentially saved our cat, without a moment's hesitation. The appointment itself was seamless -- a simple curb drop off, and then PH calls you when your cat is ready for pickup. In Shiso's case, he was such a mess they spent extra time cleaning him up (5 total washes!) and even called to ask whether it was okay to shave him a bit due to the spray that had soaked into some of his fur. They thoughtfully explained that having his spray hormones linger could keep him in an agitated state and recommended they do a sani trim around his bum. When Shiso was returned to us, he was basically a new cat. You could visibly see his relief at being clean again after such a harrowing journey across the ocean. As cat parents, we're acutely aware of how important it is that your cat is in good hands in all ways. If we could give Pounce 10 stars, we would! read more

They're the best! I wouldn't have my two cats stay anywhere else. My fur babies have stayed there on two occasions, a one week stay and an unexpected three weeks stay. Erin, one of the owners, was so accommodating as well as the rest of the staff. Their booking online booking system is convenient and they take appropriate measures to ensure a comfortable stay for your cats (vet records, feeding habits, behaviors, etc.). They are also take proper precautions with COVID-19. One of mine came down with some sniffles and sneezes during their stay and they texted me right away. We left our 8 month old fur baby, Nori, with Pounce for 10 days while travelling off island this month. We ultimately chose Pounce due to its stellar ratings, extremely kind & helpful staff, and fair prices. Due to Covid, Pounce does not offer in person tours of the facility, but they do have plenty of helpful pictures and videos on their website. After chatting with Erin & Boretta on the phone, I knew Nori would be in good hands. On the day of dropping off Nori, Boretta came to the car to pick her up (Due to Covid we were not allowed in the facility) and after a few minutes of chatting with her, we said "see you soon" to Nori. The whole process was extremely easy and seamless. Pounce does a great job of making it easy for their customers and fur babies. I do regret not choosing the add ons to have pictures sent to us, especially for a trip this long. That is one option I will definitely choose next time! Keep in mind that when you drop off your cat, you won't have any communication from Pounce, unless you purchase the option to have pictures sent beforehand. Pounce did text us twice within the 10 days to inform us that Nori had vomited from eating a cockroach and we appreciated the open & honest communication. They followed up the next day to assure us that she was doing better. I did read in previous reviews that Pounce gave customers a report of their cat's diet & bowel movements, which we did not receive. It would have been nice to receive a written summary from Pounce on Nori's 10 day stay. The day we picked up Nori, Erin came to the car to drop her off and give us a quick overview of Nori's behavior. I could tell that Nori was truly going to miss Pounce. After we closed the car door, Nori kept looking back to look for Erin. Also, the car ride home from Pounce to our home was the calmest I have ever seen Nori in the car! For a cat that usually meows the whole drive in the car, she barely meowed and was extremely content. Thank you Pounce for taking such good care of Nori! I love Pounce Hawaii. When I schedule my cat Fam to stay at Pounce for a week back in December I was not sure what to expect since this was my first time having my cat stay anywhere beside my own home. Once I booked my reservation and confirmed my stay with Pounce I was sent a checklist of things to give to them. What I loved most was the added recommendation to bring a shirt of ours or his favorite blankets so there is a familiar smell to help calm him on his first night away from us. I also love the size of their rooms. It felt very spacious and had toys inside for him to play with. I also just took our 2nd cat Bruce to get a bath and I was worried that he would come home traumatized since he does not like bath time but he came back a happy camper and smelled amazing. I had to leave the island and my fur-baby for three weeks and my family is severely allergic to cats, so I was exploring my options (cat sitting, pet boarding at vet offices etc.). After I had read the Yelp reviews, I knew I found the perfect place. Pounce Hawaii offers all the services that fur-baby kitties and their parents could hope for. I loved the photo and video updates that showed me how my kitty was doing during his stay. My fur-baby is extremely shy, however, with each update I could see how he was growing more relaxed/comfortable and attached to the wonderful Pounce Hawaii staff. I could tell by the way they interacted with him in the photos and videos that he was in warm, caring hands. They are also very detail-oriented and in the application you provide feeding instructions and notes. My baby is overweight and needed to follow a regimented diet, so this was extremely reassuring. Another helpful service was the pick-up/drop-off option that was a lifesaver as I don't drive and was so convenient before my flight. This place is great! The adoption process was so easy. We just had to book time for my husband and I and our kids to come to the cat cafe to meet with/play with all of the cats that were available for adoption, and we could pick the cat we wanted. The facility is super clean and the cats are obviously very happy and well taken care of. We settled on Edward, the cutest, sweetest, tiniest little black kitten, but we've since renamed him Eddie. He was about 3 months old when we adopted him back in July 2022, and next month we'll be celebrating his 1st birthday We've brought him about 3 times so far to be groomed at Pounce and they've done an amazing job every time. He always looks and smells great afterward and they always give him a new collar for when we pick him up. There were 22 kittens to play with that needed loving homes -- so many different personalities to choose from and all lovable in their own way. Must remove your shoes and use hand sanitizer before entering the kitty area. Appointment only. Kept very clean and very comfy atmosphere for both humans and kittens (the other cat place I visited was too warm and thus all the kitties were asleep--every kitten at Pounce Hawai'i was awake and ready to play). A few covered parking stalls are available in the very front. The adoption process was quick and pleasant. While we aren't in the market for another cat anytime soon, I can't recommend Pounce Hawai'i enough, whether you are looking to adopt or simply to unwind and play with furry friends for an hour. read more

We left our kitty Oliver at Pounce Hawaii for six nights when we traveled to Kauai in July. We were obviously quite nervous because this was our first time ever leaving our cat alone and in a new environment. From the get go I was very pleased with the customer service that Boretta and Erin provided for us, from booking to check out! When you book your stay you can add on additional services. I had to add on picture text messages sent to me daily because I miss my cats sooo much when I'm away from them. After you book they ask for any medications that they need to be given and what kind of diet plan they have. I wasn't expecting the amount of questions that Pounce Hawaii requires answered but it definitely made me feel more at ease because I knew that they cared so much. Communication was on point during Oliver's whole stay. When we picked him up he was so happy to see us. But one thing that made us really want to take him back even just for a mini staycation was that he was so, so calm. Oliver can be quite jumpy and anxious but after bringing him home he was very relaxed. Because of this I decided to recently take my other cat Illy there for a mini staycation and she also came back happier, more vocal, and relaxed as well. If you're traveling or just think that your cat needs a break I highly recommend Pounce Hawaii. Our household has had some issues because of the stay at home order. It seems to be stressing our cats out since we are always home and they don't get their alone time as much. I have heard many cat owners have been struggling with this! I was told about Pounce from Karen, a wonderful volunteer at the Humane Society. She told me that Pounce took care of some of the cats from the Humane Society till they got adopted. I had to call and make an appointment to see the cats, but as it was almost end of the day and luckily there was a block of free time, I was allowed to check out one cat that I was interested in from the Humane society's website. I really wanted to spend some more time to get to choose the right cat to join my family so I made another appointment for a later date and they were so accommodating. It costs $15 for an hour to check out and observe the cats in a clean and very well kept place filled with happy cats . It was the hardest choice to just choose one out of the few that I fell in love with. However, it's been almost a week and I'm very happy with Tommy, who I've since renamed. I want to thank the wonderful sweet lady whose name I unfortunately don't remember. She helped me last Friday and again this Monday with my kitty adoption. My new kitten loves his new home and his new big brother. He's a joy so far and I'd definitely utilize this wonderful place to board and pamper my cats whenever the opportunity comes up. I took my two kids (8 and 12) there this weekend and we had THE BEST TIME. Making an appointment online beforehand is very easy and they are very responsive on their Instagram if you have questions. It's nice that you know there won't be a lot of other people there at the same time as you. The kittens were all sleeping when we arrived but we were encouraged to wake them up and play with them. We got to choose a toy and went into the room. It was just us and the kittens in a nice, open space that was roomy enough but not too big. It's open at the top so it is well ventilated and doesn't smell like cats and cat litter. It's very clean without fur everywhere. Once the kittens woke up and warmed to us, they were very playful and cute. A few were a little shy and a few were very loving. There were also a couple adult cats who were a little shy but my kids were able to coax them out eventually, even if they only played a little, ate a little and then went back into hiding. The lady who welcomed us in was very nice. She graciously answered my 8 year old's endless questions. ***You are required to take off your shoes and you do have to wear socks into the room. I didn't realize that (my bad for not thoroughly reading the info on their website) but they do have socks available to purchase for the very extremely reasonable fee of $2 and they are very comfy. I might just not wear socks next time just so I can get another pair. ***They offer a complimentary coffee, water or juice. What a nice touch! And very appreciated now that it's getting hotter out! They do have a few parking spaces onsite. So awesome! Overall, this was a wonderful experienc and we will definitely be going back. This place is SO AMAZING! I have a senior cat so she needs a lil more care. The staff are THE SWEETEST! From booking, to drop off and pick up they are the best! It made me feel more at ease she was doing well when they send you photos and updates about ur baby. I definitely recommend this place! read more
