Nice little small town cafe. We all had breakfast so I can only speak to that. We didn't choose a cinnamon roll, although they looked good, because it was icing instead of cream cheese frosting. Everyone said this was good restaurant. This is our second time eating here. The first time we got biscuits and gravy, they were awful. So I told my husband, well let's try a breakfast because no one in Grants Pass serves good biscuits and gravy. So we split the Spanish omelet. I ordered a side of their "homemade" hash browns and toast. The flavor of the omelet was ok, the hash browns were full of the potato starch. I wash the starch out of my hash browns at home, I hate the taste of starch in my hash browns. I ordered a side of toast, one piece was burned, I don't eat burned toast. This place has been here forever and is definitely a spot where the locals come. You HAVE to order one of their cinnamon roll. Hot, flurry and toped with loads of butter. They are known for them. Visiting Grants Pass for a friends wedding and found this little breakfast spot on Yelp. Upon arrival this place was packed so I'm thinking it must be good. We were sat pretty quickly and I was so far impressed with this seems like a family owned restaurant. I ordered the breakfast croissant with bacon and it was sooo good! The croissant was homemade to perfection. My boyfriend ordered the ham and eggs with a side pancake which he said was really good as well. I tried a bit of his hash browns and this place really know how to make them right! Extra crispy just how I like them. Staff was so friendly and service was good on this busy Saturday morning. It really pains me to write this review, because in the past I really enjoyed this restaurant. Unfortunately, things have changed profoundly and I can't recommend this place to anyone. I don't know what happened, but compared to four years ago, this place has come apart in terms of both service and food. It is really sad. Service is incredibly incompetent. While we were waiting to be seated, at least four tables had their credit cards ready to pay, but no one was ringing them up. Took much too long to be seated, much too long to take an order, and an eternity for our food to come. The food used to be good. No more. They used to make their own pies -- in fact I met the lady who made them. But the pies that we got were very artificial tasting, both the filling and the crust. Breakfast entrees came out cold and tasteless. As far as I know they still have their cinnamon rolls, but they sell out by 8am, so if you don't get their when they open you won't get one. I am not sure what happened to this place. But it pains me that it has slid down so far. If you are in Grants Pass, just go to Elmars or some other place for breakfast, and you will at least get the food fast and hot, and the pies will be of equivalent quality. read more

Chicken fried steak was greasy and tough, potatoes were nasty, eggs over easy were runny with scorched whites, gravy was ok, coffee was not good. Service was prompt. Chuck holes in back parking lot showed as little attention as does their Sunday breakfast. I had the taste of rancid oil in my mouth for about an hour I left. The service has not been great the last couple of times and the food has gone down hill too. This used to be our favorite breakfast place. First time we had an issue we walked in and waited to be seated. A couple came in behind us and took the only open table. The waitress said to bad that it was seat yourself. So we left. This last time we walked in there was an open table and I was nice and asked if we could sit at this table. She said no. There is other people waiting at the front. Makes no sense. We were really excited to try this place but the pancakes were super flat almost like a crepe instead of a fluffy pancake and the French toast tasted more like scrambled eggs with bread in it. You know, I came here five years ago and now I've moved to this town and I have to say, the food is just as good now as it was back then. Covid hasn't changed the quality or the service of this comfortable everyday restaurant. You can tell the regulars, who are treated like family. New patrons are treated like good friends. Came here with my family while on a short vacation in Grants Pass. It was a Sunday morning, four of us starving, and we knew we needed food before heading to a wedding. Thankfully a table was leaving as soon as I made the realization, and I was able to grab it for my party while they made their way over. I felt bad taking an 8/10 person table for four people, but it didn't look like anyone else would be leaving so - oh well! Service was good considering how busy they were. Waitresses were constantly zooming by with coffee and plates. Our waitress came over quickly and was accommodating to my grandma's request for decaf. She even made a fresh pot since my grandma said the cup she got was bad. The food was ON. POINT. I ordered an omelette with cheese and peppers that came with salsa on top with a side of hash browns. I will say a $4 upcharge for egg whites felt wrong to me, but when you're restricted then it's not so much an option! I tried a bite of their hash browns and gravy, and OH MY GOSH it was incredible. You can tell the gravy is made from scratch, and it was absolutely velvety and decadent. I would drink it. Honestly. Judge me I don't care. This has always been our go-to place for breakfast. New owners are just as warm and friendly as pervious owners. Sure they've changed a few things (i.e., handheld payment systems, etc.), but all for the better from what I can tell. We've gotten our food so much faster as well, and as delicious and filling as ever. And we're still seeing beautiful smiles and positive, helpful, friendly folks. The bakery case at the front contains several enormous attractive looking pies. Vegan options are limited, but I was pleased to find they have a hash brown entree and a veggie burger. In the mood for breakfast, I got hash browns with added mushrooms, peppers, and tomatoes. I love hash browns and was very much in the mood to eat potatoes, but what I received here was virtually inedible. The thin shreds of defrosted potatoes were completely soaked through with low grade canola oil. Additionally, they were overcooked on the outside, sticking together in a clump, and soggy on the inside. I ate a lot of them because I was starving and beginning a long road trip, but regretted my decision almost immediately. I almost never get indigestion but had bad stomach pains the entire day, in addition to consistently feeling like I needed a nap. My boyfriend got a bacon/egg/hash brown combo and barely touched his food-at least one of us is intelligent enough to spot a tummy ache before we commit to eating something. Classic diner atmosphere and decor. Doesn't look like they've ever changed much which is awesome. Service was fantastic. They kept on top of everything and were very friendly. Food was okay, not bad not great but good enough to finish your plate which is pretty difficult since it's definitely comfort food and good size portions. Coffee is diner coffee complete with splashing when the waitress pours it. If anything come for the pie it's outstanding! It pairs well with the diner coffee.
