My wife's car battery died. So we went to o'reilllys and got a new battery and I put it in the car. The next day, the check engine light was on. I assumed it was because everything just reset but had to know... so I called my man Dave at the local Chevron station. Really cool guy. Always helps us out. Like really helps us out. I've had so many times when I had to swap tires or something and he's just on it, always super friendly and always finding the best option. Anyway I go in there and tell him hey the check light is on can you tell me what's going on, so he pulls out his little computer, plugs it into the port, and 3 1/2 seconds later he says "there aren't any codes on, it was just a temporary thing everything's fine." So I'm like cool. And he said yeah, that'll be $179. I smiled at him. I'm like "really?" he smiled back and said I'm just *ing with you. Go home. VERY RUDE STAFF - AHMAD & EDWIN This review is not for Power Market as there's no market in this place. It's only a Chevron gas station, a mini store called H&S and an auto repair shop next to it. It was our first time going to this place with the intent to dine at the restaurant across this Chevron station - Bamboo Bistro. We found a handicap parking space so we parked with our parking placard displayed. My mother is an 80 year old who has vision and mobility limitations so parking in this spot is very convenient. We both went inside the restaurant only to find out that there's a waiting list. We signed up and decided to go back to our car to wait until we're called. We parked in that handicap spot for less than 5 mins. On our walk towards our car, this old man who works at the mini store with a name tag AHMAD, was yelling at a group of people saying that he will call a towing company to tow our car. He mistakenly thought the other people as the owner of our car. I told him it's our car and asked him nicely what is the problem. He was on top of his voice yelling at me and my senior mother saying that we can't park in that spot as it is a private property. He wasn't very nice at all. He was verbally harassing us. Another guy came out from the auto repair shop and his name is EDWIN. I explained to both of them that we didn't know the rule and it was our first time in the area. I told both of them that as far as I understand, you can't be denied a parking space especially if you have the handicap parking placard displayed. These two men weren't listening to my explanation and continued to yell at us to the extent that everyone was looking at us. I told them that I would prefer to call a sheriff to verify the policy they were telling me, which created more anger on their end. I told them that they could speak with us in a nice way without the need to verbally harass us. They can explain the parking policy without the need of yelling at us. They're both disrespectful especially to my mother who's way senior to them. On a side note, I didn't find any parking signage in front of parking spot that it is a private property. If I've seen that sign or if I knew about this parking policy, I would not even park there. Again, to anyone reading this review and come across with these two men named AHMAD and EDWIN, please know that they're VERY RUDE. Very disrespectful to women and to seniors! I wish the manager or owner of this business would see this review and would love to speak with him/her about this incident. read more

So just for transparency purposes I am using a friends Yelp account as I am a regular at this establishment but after what I saw recently I am concerned about retribution for leaving this review. I am a regular at this Chevron, I come for any minor auto work I need to have done whether that's an oil change or to have a battery replaced and I have been for quite some time. As I was inside the Market, an older gentleman by the name of Dave came inside to speak with the lady at the register. I'm not sure if there was a conversation between them prior or what happened, but Dave began to verbally assault the cashier with a whole host of slanders and insults aimed at the poor cashier. All she kept saying back was please do not talk to me like that but he just kept degrading her!! To be honest I was in shock watching this and the simple fact that he knew customers were in the store and still talked to her like that makes me think of the horrible things she may endure when nobody is around. This type of behavior comes from the top down, if it's allowed or not enforced this is the result. Do better Chevron! You letting bigots work for your company is a direct representation of the company as a whole and I would fully expect at the very least for you to open an investigation into this man Dave and to handle the situation accordingly. read more

Dave, the manager at this Chevron service station completely altered how I viewed auto repair shops / auto body shops. He's incredibly knowledgeable, honest and affable. An absolute pleasure to do business with. One of our cars needed minor body work and a paint job. We happened to stop in for gas and noticed that they do body work there -- the result was great (Don was amazing). The experience was so easy and high quality that we brought another of our cars, a "vintage" sedan that needed special handling for mechanical repairs (work-in-progress). Each interaction has been friendly and professional with close attention to detail at a fair price. My fiancée and I have become enthusiastic patrons of Dave and his team. read more

Just got some tires installed here and and alignment. Dave was a great help and got me in quickly. I got the best price that I could find on the Cooper tires I bought. After the alignment, car drives straight and tracks straight. They are a great crew to help and definitely to get tires and alignment from. They are busy on Saturdays, so might want to try and come during the week. If you're passing by, check them out and get a quote at least because you'll probably find they are the cheapest when it comes to tires. Everything is balanced great and drives awesome. My car was overheating and so I had no choice but to pull into this Service Station. I'm glad I did! Dave was closing up the shop but stayed late to help me. I got a very honest assessment and the work was finished first thing in the morning for a good price. I'm usually very skeptical about using a different mechanic than my regular guy but I feel lucky to have encountered my problem right next to Dave's service station. I may be incorrect but I have the feeling that I was just scammed by the mechanics at the Chevron station on PCH in Corona del Mar. We took our Audi in for a smog check and oil change-drove into the shop with air conditioning fully functional and drove out with no AC. Dave the service manager said they didn't do anything that would have affected the AC. He offered to do an AC evaluation for free-we returned today and after they recharged the freon (with 4 oz) for $128, the AC still didn't work. They checked the fuse and it was out-he replaced the fuse for "free". Maybe the fuse should have been checked first since it's about a $5.00 repair. Also is it a coincidence that a fuse "went out" when we had an oil change? Not sure, but we won't return. read more

I was in desperate need of a smog check for my car. These guys took my car in immediately and before charging me for a smog that would fail they checked to see the monitors had been reset before conducting the smog. I've been to another place that conducted a smog knowing it was going to fail and they still did it and charged me $70! These guys were super friendly and informative, but above all they were honest. I was referred to this shop by a former client of theirs who owns a classic car. The job they did on his car was amazing. I brought my newly purchased 1976 Eldorado for work. I was extremely nervous as I know nothing about mechanical work and was concerned that I will be nailed for it ..... Anyways, from the outset, Dave was incredibly professional and welcoming. He took the time to explain the process and work that may need to be done. At all times he kept me informed about the process and explained what was being done and how much it would cost. Another team member, Shannon, was not out there just to get the job done on the vehicle. Shannon was very enthusiastic and showed great interest in brining the almost 40 year old car back to a driving condition. We drove the vehicle together when the job was complete to make sure everything was smooth. Mark was also great. He kept me posted regarding the process at all times. When I came to pick up the Cadillac, I also brought my jeep Cherokee to have the tail light replaced. They did it in 5 minutes and as a courtesy didn't even charge me. I will be bringing my cars there for all follow up work. As to previous negative reviewers on this site, there is no possible way that they are talking about this new team. My car is falling apart and I can't afford to fix it or fill up the gas tank right now. So normally I don't drive it. Yesterday though, I had a job interview in Newport Beach. I didn't want to take the bus because I didn't want to show up to my interview drenched in sweat, as it was a hot day. After my interview was over I went to drive home to Irvine but my car started stalling and I realized I wouldn't be able to make it home. So I pulled over into the closest gas station, which happened to be this Chevron. I had also lost my wallet the night before, and even though I only had a few bucks in there, I had no card, cash, or even ID to where I'd be able to go to the bank. As you can probably tell by now, I've been having a rough past couple months. I try to stay positive though and spread as much love and positivity to as many people as I can. I'm getting to the point soon I promise! So I happened to find a single dollar in my car so I took it inside and asked the cashier to put a dollar on my tank, as I laughed embarrassedly and tried to explain to her that I had lost my wallet. So I went and filled up a dollars worth of gas.. it was about .2 of a gallon.. I realized that wasn't going to do it. So I sat in my car stressing over what I was going to do. I really really didn't want to ask people for money but I honestly didn't know what else to do and if I were in a situation where I could help someone I would want them to ask me. So I went up to this grumpy looking old man who was parked at the pump next to me (this was my first mistake. This guy looked like he'd never smiled in his life) and just for some context, not that it should matter but just in case it does, I'm a mild mannered petite female who was coming back from a job interview (so I was wearing a nice blouse, slacks and heals.) My point is that there is absolutely nothing intimidating about me. I was also extremely embarrassed and nervous to be asking anyone for money. So I slowly walked over to the pumps and VERY politely said "excuse me sir, I'm so sorry to bother you. Do you have a dollar you can spare for gas?" He wouldn't even look at me or acknowledge me so I just put my head down and walked away and I thought that was that. I definitely wasn't going to ask anyone else after that. A few minutes later, Dave, who I believe manages the auto shop, walked over to me. He told me that a customer has complained that I was asking people for money and that I can't be doing that there. I could tell he felt bad but he was just doing his job. I explained my situation to him, and he was sympathetic, he said just don't ask anyone else, not that I was planning to lol. A few minutes go by and Dave walks back up to my car and tells me that he made $8 in tips that day and he was going to put it into my gas tank. Now I don't know if any of you have had a day/week/month where everything seems to be going wrong and then one person shows you this act of kindness and it just makes you break down into tears. It was as if all the hard work I've been putting in, all the love and positivity I give out to others and to the universe, is not for nothing. It was almost like a glimmer of hope or a sign from the universe that says "it's going to be okay. I got you." $8 might not sound like a lot of money but it was more than just $8 to me at that moment. And that just goes to show you, Dave could have spent that $8 on a coffee, but when he decided to give it to me, he changed my life a little bit in that moment. I've always given money to the homeless when I can. Because even if I only have a dollar left to my name, at least I have a place to sleep and food to eat and some people don't. I hope Dave reads this. The best way I could think about repaying your kindness is by first writing this review and I also want you to know that I will pay it forward. It's funny how if that old man hadn't been so ugly (I'm talking about his actions, not his appearance), I may have not met Dave. So I'm actually grateful for that old grump. Thanks again Dave. I paid for a 90,000 mile service on my Lexus at this Chevron and a few months later the check engine light came on. I brought it back and they charged me $100 to tell me I needed a new fuel monitor for $900. My husband suggested a second opinion, where they told me that my fuel monitor was dirty and they could clean it for $90. They asked me if I had had my 90,000 mile service and I said yes. They said, "Whoever did that should have cleaned the part." So I wouldn't even have had a problem if they'd done what I paid them for. I had heard others say they were con artists, and I should have listened. read more

No one enjoys getting work done on their car: it can be confusing, overwhelming, time consuming, and incredibly expensive. However, I so much appreciate the work done here by Dave and his team. Dave communicates well with me and takes the time to educate me on my car and why certain repairs need to be made - in once instance he suggested I could come down and take a look at what was wrong as they were fixing it. When I got there, he displayed all the parts and explained their function/lack of function. He is realistic when I'm on a budget and helps me triage the repairs I need but also gives me good advice that have helped me turn my modest car into a long-term vehicle. I said, "yes" and they told me to stop immediately because Chevron gas is diluted so much with alcohol. Guess what? I use Shell now and haven't had a problem since. Despite my doubts the woman at the register told me to swipe my card again - after I had to wait 20 minutes. Once I got the bill I saw the double charge and went back to the station. Asked them to do an oil change and change cam sensors on my car. Said they did the oil change but the car still is telling me to get an oil change done and they weren't able to change the sensor properly either and said they did and charged me for all of this. Also broke my drivers side window because it doesn't roll up anymore, which was never an issue before and then they said it's not our problem. read more

I have been seeing bad reviews for this place for a long time, but as a single person with only one car and a busy schedule, I had to take my car here out of geographical convenience. The manager, Dave, was SO NICE to me both on the phone and in person. Not only was the service on my car done well, and in a very timely manner, I was really pleased with how kind and honest and low pressure the customer service was. I am a female who is very obviously ignorant when it comes to cars and for once I did not feel insulted or taken advantage of. I mentioned to Dave that yelp featured horrible reviews, and he told me that he was new and that he was working very hard to turn around the business and undo the damages of the previous manager, doing everything from putting plants in the service window to brewing fresh coffee for all of the customers. Some of the other assholes saying bad things on yelp seem to be a little confused as to who actually works in the service department and who works as a gas station cashier. Probably worthwhile to note the difference AND have a little compassion for the likely overworked, underpaid, and economically less advantaged person who is having to work their ass off as a gas station attendant for minimum wage and answer questions about the service department in which they do not work. Oh, and yelpers, if you mention in your review that waiting something like "20 minutes" for your "lexus or bmw" is ruining your life... you should be ashamed of your unreasonably privileged life and join the rest of us in this real and beautiful life in which we engage in a daily practice of gratitude, compassion, patience and understanding interdependence... read more

This place is amazing! Every time I bring my car in here, I get a quote, sign off on it, and my car gets fixed! Some of these other reviews do not seem to know how cars work sometimes. Especially if a few months later, something happens. Say I got stitches on my finger, then went back to the doctor a few months later complaining about migraines. Would I blame the doctor who gave me stitches? No. Because it is a completely unrelated issue. You get a tune up. Great. So a few months later a check engine light comes on. Is it something that was missed? No. As cars get older their parts start wearing down, and repairs are going to be needed and it's going to cost you. Why do people act so shocked. Pricing, they are very competitive here. You'd have to imagine that their prices could be a little higher due to their location in the very nice city of corona Del Mar. I would recommend this shop for any repairs you need. The people are honest and fair. My father was a mechanic. He taught me a lot about cars. read more

They will pull and poke at everything and either they don't know what they're doing or they are sabotaging cars to get more business.
