We had an apparently slow leak around our chimney and through the top crown [cracks] that had caused significant damage in our attic before we discovered it. I called Pratt Chimney and Steve came out within a couple of days to give his evaluation. We needed to have the chimney repaired, attic restoration for water damage, and drywall replacement and painting done. Steve worked us into their cramped schedule in order to prevent further damage as much as possible. Work was scheduled to start a couple of weeks after the estimate. Because heavy rain was expected before the scheduled work start date, Pratt came our and secured a tarp over the chimney areas to prevent further damage. Brad and his assistant were amazing, courteous, and hard working, completing the job with the required follow-up to allow concrete to set properly, perform water testing, et al. The thorough water test of the chimney and the flashing around it revealed further leak points which required full replacement of the flashing by a Pratt Sub-contractor. Final test showed no leaks. I was then able to schedule the other repairs that were required to complete the attic and room drywall damage abatement. One other thing, the original work was completed in June 2020 [I thought that I had entered a review at that time, but it appears that I did not :-(]. In May, 2022, We noticed water dripping in the basement from an apparent leak around a sewer vent pipe [not associated with the chimney]. I called Pratt to see whether I could get their sub-contractor who did the flashing on our chimney to repair this job. He was not available to me, so Steve sent one of his guys out [another super courteous young man], who went on the roof and caulked around the vent pipe, as well as the exposed nail heads there and around the attic vents. All I can say is that I would recommend Pratt's Chimney without hesitation!!! read more

I would not recommend this company, I had a technician come out to evaluate our fireplace and they quoted us over six thousand dollars for a full chimney liner replacement. Take in mind our fireplace had not been used regularly in over 10 years so I was hesitant to drop that kind of money off one evaluation. I had two other companies come by to get a second and third opinion and both agreed that a liner was certainly not needed outside of maybe a regular cleaning if you use your fireplace often. We needed an evaluation on a chimney in a home that we inherited. Thank goodness we got them out to have a look because there were some pretty important structural issues that needed to be addressed. Josh actually showed me the inside of the chimney with a camera that ran through an iPad so I could see what he was talking about as he described the issue. Josh, Kyler and the rest of the team were communicative, courteous, efficient and extremely professional. In order to complete the necessary work we had to wait for warmer weather and the first chance they had, they were right back out to finish the work. This is a long story so stay with me, if you need this kind of work ,you need these guys. Our chimney was crumbling, not the mortar, the bricks were breaking down. On my initial call to the company, I spoke with Brittany. She was very nice and told me about the company. Also, it is Veteran owned . That means a lot to me. We scheduled an appointment for an estimate. Matt came over and inspected the damage we had discovered. He knew exactly what was happening, why it was and the procedure to fix it. They were able to do the job within a couple days. This seemed like a fairly trechererous job. The house has 4 levels. Basement to attic. The only way to remove the brick was in big buckets, up and down the stairs.Then it started to rain...hard. They just put ponchos on and kept moving. Amazing. They were at our house 12 hours.. The crew was Matt, Sam and Dylan. Super nice guys and so respectful of our home. The real mind blower was that when they left, you could never tell they were here. They swept the basement and hosed the driveway. Then Sam insisted on mopping the hardwood floors. I have never been treated so well. Matt finished up the business end of the deal. I told him our insurance company, I won't say who, (state farm), was giving me a ration. Anyway, Matt said have them call him if they try to deny. As you can surmise, I highly recommend this company. When our home inspector suggested we have a professional chimney service look at the flue before using the fireplace, we researched several companies before choosing Pratt. We chose them based primarily on the reviews, and we're glad we did. They were fantastic every step of the way. They showed up on time, were very professional, and followed all COVID protocols. brad and his associate from pratt came out on a very snowy day to clean the totally full ashpit--and install a stainless liner for the hot water heater flue, which he recommended. brad explained everything really well, and is extremely knowledgeable. they were professional and courteous, and did a very fine job on the liner install and the ashpit cleaning, which is a messy task. the immediate area around the ashpit was well-tarped and cleaned afterwards. however, for the future, i'd suggest that any floors leading to the work areas are completely covered and protected because some ash debris from the vacuum ended up on the carpet, causing light stains which we were able to get out. i understand interior chimney and fireplace work is by nature, messy, which is all the more reason to take precautions before the work is performed. that said, i'd use pratt's again. read more

I needed to have two chimneys reconstructed and relined and wanted to have gas fire logs installed. The chimney work was completed in August 2016 and the gas fire logs installation was delayed because I couldn't get a plumber out to install a gas line before the onset of last winter. I finally got that work done and called Pratt back for the installation of the logs. With the holidays coming, I know the work schedule is tight. Steve Pavlin spoke with the plumber to be sure that work was coordinated with his. We have only lived in our home for a couple months and after a couple of bad rains, we noticed our fireplace had a decent leak causing us to use pots to collect the water. Pratt's was available to come out for a free assessment within a very quick timeframe. When Steve arrived, he took a look on the roof and instantly spotted a possible cause of the problem. Without hesitation he applied a fix at no cost (which he didn't tell me until he was summarizing what he saw and what he did) because it was an obvious possible cause of the leak. We were expected to get bad rain again the next day and Steve called me that next afternoon to see if we got water again. I was happy to report that we had ZERO water!!! Should we have future issues, we will not pause to call anyone else. Steve was great and certainly wanted to make sure his hunch was right. Service like that is what leads to future calls to Pratt's. Horrible experience. If you value your safety, do not use this organization. The owner sent his son on the job who did not appear to have the required skills for chimney cleaning. Instead of simply cleaning my chimneys (which was the request), he went on to inspect my two chimneys telling me that the gas one needed to be converted to a wood burning, and my wood burning needed to be converted into a gas fireplace. He handed me a quote for over $5000 and failed to even clean one of my chimneys. While he was working on the gas fireplace, he blew out the gas instead of waiting for it to burn off. He did this at least three times and was playing with the gas--cranking it up and down during his voluntary "inspection". In turn, he LEFT THE GAS ON....which then leaked for a couple of days in my home. My contractor contacted the owner, who then said "my son says he did not blow out the gas" to which I was furious! I saw it with my own eyes. The owner, Steve, did come to my home the next Monday to meet the contractor any myself. While he refunded my money----there was no acknowledgement of the severity of the issue. Do NOT trust this group....a lack of skills in the service provider and a horrible business ethic of the owner. You are much better off going elsewhere, leaving GAS on in a home is a serious issue...one that a chimney company should understand. Be safe...stay away from Pratt's. read more
