I had a fair amount of old coins that were left to me by a family member and instead of painstakingly researching each coin, I decided to try and sell them. I found PMR through Yelp and their stellar reviews. The store is conveniently located and is clean/tidy. The PMR chain has a gemologist, but to meet with them, you'll need to call in advance to see where they're located. I was helped by David Eseppi. He is a nice, no nonsense kind of person and he made my first PMR experience quick and easy. Most of my coins were of little value, so their total weight (depending on precious metal content) was used to calculate worth. Could have been much better. My wife and I visited the store to sell some gold bullion and coins. Met with a guy named Mike who was friendly enough but had no authority to make decisions. He could not even make me an offer on my gold American Eagles or Buffalos. He had to "call" the owner, who never answered his call. Then Mike says he was sorry that we drove all the way up to the store for nothing and that he would call me back and let me know the offer for my coins, once he heard from the owner. All employees at PMR are trained to lowball you about 5 times before getting their manager or even better their "owner" on the "phone" to get permission to give you closer to 85-90% value instead of the 30-40% they will offer you initially. Just stand your ground as they are too broke as a business to let you walk, as long as you keep demanding more value then they will give it to you and if they don't just walk and that's when they'll give you what you're asking for. You will get ripped off if you go in there not knowing the exact value of your item so don't get screwed, do your research and you can beat them on the negotiation. read more

The person I dealt with was very friendly and courteous, however, I was disappointed in how much was offered for my gold chains. All 3 of the chains I brought in were in very good condition, so not completely scrap gold. I had already weighed and calculated the value of each just based on the amount of gold, so when the offer to buy them was only 63% of their value I was quite disappointed. Especially considering that I know they could sell the items "as is" for more than the value of the gold content and even if they had melted them down, they would not only charge the value of the gold, but about 20% on top of that as a premium. Figuring this all out, they more than doubled what they paid me for my items. If I hadn't been in severe need, I wouldn't have accepted their offer. read more

As someone who knows some things about how gold is bought, evaluated, and sold, I called these guys to sell an ounce hallmarked of pure gold. Once I evaluated the price quoted by them and more importantly how they manipulated the benchmarks that other gold buyers use, There were too many red flags to continue and I did not do any business with them. There are more than a few locally owned buyers in Tucson who will pay you more for your gold. Anyone in Tucson needs to go to at least 3 different retail buyers and compare the numbers, do not allow anyone to intimidate you. As the seller, buyers want and need what you have to sell. Based on my experiences there are better choices that this company despite or maybe because of their various locations read more

I went in yesterday with a pocket watch and the woman who assisted me was very friendly! The problem was that people told me to do my research because people will take advantage of you! So I did and knew what I had in my hands! I showed her the pocket watch and she looked at for like 5 seconds and said it was gold plated and she would give me 20 bucks! She didn't test the gold and acted disinterested! I know she knew exactly what I had in my had and felt like she was trying to take advantage of me! I asked her some questions and she said she didn't know?!!!! How can you be in the business of appraisal and not know if an item is real or not without studying the item. If she didn't actually know you would think she would ask for assistance by someone who was more experienced!!!!! I left and took it to two other appraisers and they offered me 3,700 dollars for it and also were kind enough to tell me that if I sold it online I could get a lot more! They actually tested the gold and opened it up to see if it was authentic! The woman was young, thin, and had dark hair! I came into the Tangerine/Thornydale store 1/26/2022 as a walk in customer, as this is the closest location to my home off Tangerine Rd . I have been to this location in late 2021 and sold a solid 25K gold bullion coin. So I decided to get a quote on a few more items I had. I was met by Dakota Pearsons to review the jewelry I brought in for a quote to sell. I brought in a couple of small women's necklaces that were completely tangled and had a vintage tag on it. Not a fancy necklace, just a delicate, thin pendent necklace, the small pendent, and a plain ring. After reviewing my items for a quote, Dakota Pearson asks me "Is this stolen?" referring to the tangled up necklace. I responded in shock, "NO". I asked him if he asks all his customers if their merchandise they bring in is stolen merchandise? He responded, "well it had a tag on it", I thought so what?! Is he that ignorant that he has no clue that people can actually buy jewelry and may not use it, or purchase it for an investment. Whatever the reason that was an ignorant, and stupid question, by an ignorant, stupid person. He was extremely unprofessional, and ignorant! He is not working at a pawn shop! Perhaps if I was not Hispanic, with dark hair, and perhaps I was a white woman with white hair or blond hair this question would NEVER have been asked? Regardless, I can say this will be the last time I do business with this PMR location, and most likely ever! My advice: there are plenty other places to sell, or get quotes on gold or jewelry, go there! read more
