Honest to let me know that my IS Lexus has No original transmission available and if they replaced it won't have No warranty.

I am an unhappy customer. I feel ripped off. I asked for a diagnostic on battery light that comes on when engine is running. I told them battery and alternator are new and the volt meter shows 14.2 when the battery light is on. The problem is likely in the wires. They never found the root cause of battery ligh issue and ask me for an additional 2 hour labor / $300 to test the connections from alternator to battery and potential instrumental clusters. I expect the $75 diagnotic fee is for them to find the problem, which they never did and wanted additional $300?! Please try harder! read more

My car started smoking and omitting a bad smell coming from the hood whenever I would drive for longer than 20 minutes. I'm always hesitant about taking my car in for repairs because not every repair shop is honest with their diagnostics. I found Precision Auto here, on Yelp, and based on the reviews, I decided to give them a chance. I requested an appointment online, which was super convenient! I received an email confirming the date and time I requested as well as a text message reminder a few days before my appointment. My initial impression of Precision Auto was an excellent one. They are very friendly and have a free shuttle available. Their waiting area is also very nice with free coffee and snacks. I took advantage of the free shuttle service and received a ride back home while I waited to get an estimate for the repair. They were very precise and quoted me minimal repair costs. I felt great about the decision I made to take my car into Precision Auto! They also guarantee their work for 2 years! Wow! Amazing. Needless to say, I have found a new repair shop that I can trust. The quality of service is highly doubtful. Here is what happened. [03/18/2020] 80,000 miles oil change: they did not check all the fluid levels for most basic service. My antifreeze/coolant reservoir level was empty. [09/09/2020] 85,000 miles regular maintenance: they broke the oil filter cap and had me to pay for the replacement for $52.82 a piece (OEM $31.20, 3rd party $25 from Amazon). Their excuse was that the original cap was fragile, low quality. They broke it and it's my responsibility. Really? You need the cap wrench to open it and it's easy, and wouldn't break it. The car has been so many services since I bought it (85,000 miles) and none of them, dealer or other shops, had any issue with the cap. [09/10/2020] Found out oil leak from around the new cap (see photo). Brought my car back in and had them to fix the problem. They told me the new cap wasn't fit perfectly but they managed to "fix" it, at least no more leaking. [08/17/2021] 90,000 major maintenance: decided to go with another shop which few of my friends highly recommended. Cost was at least $150 less than Precision Auto had quoted me. The shop owner found out and took a photo of the oil filter. He pointed out that the filter base had filing and cut marks. Apparently Precision technician filed around it in order to fit the 3rd party oil filter cap they put in!!!! (See photo) I've lost trust in Precision Auto and no more business from me. read more

Had a pre purchase inspection done a while back. My regular Honda/Acura mechanic is in Fremont but seller was in Dublin. Made a bunch of recommendations............some needed, some not. Ball joints still don't need replacing and neither does the drive belt. Did not recommend struts however, which do. Didn't really like working with a middleman/in between/service writer through pictures. Rather be talking to and looking at the car with the mechanic doing the work. Prices for parts and labor are quite high, like dealer high or higher. You're definitely paying for the nice waiting area, coffee, etc. read more

I had my car's battery replaced at Precision Auto Repair. Great service! When I arrived and talked to Ken, he offered a ride back. Later, Ken gave me a call and told me that the mechanic confirmed that the battery was dead. I got the good estimate and the service was done in 2h. Not only that, Ken noticed the rear wiper blade fell off and repaired it for free! I'd definitely come back! read more

Yelp recommended this place, so I contacted them and even though their site says they offer engine repair, they told me they don't offer timing belt replacement services. I went in for a 30k minor service which included a brake fluid flush, oil and filter change, and tire rotation. They tried to push their own recommended service which included a transmission fluid flush. My GX460 transmission is a sealed system that requires no change at all - as stated clearly in the owner's manual. I didn't like how they recommended a service that was entirely unnecessary and specifically mentioned in the owner's manual. They seem to be a really well run garage. I would just make sure you review your owner's manual to make sure you don't have any service done that is not required since you don't want to run the risk of any damage to a sealed part or system. read more

I've been a customer for several years, and Precision's service is excellent and they've always accommodated me. I make an appointment and they take me on time, unlike the experience I had with a dealer that would make me wait forever for an oil change even with an appointment. Precision is very fair and never recommends more work than necessary. They keep my car in great condition so I do not break down. I cannot say enough good things about Kevin and team! Note that there are chains called Precision, but they are not the same as this family-owned auto repair. read more

I bought a used RAV4 and after washing it I noticed some coolant smell and some steam coming off the radiator. I called Precision Auto and they got me in early the next morning. After they inspected it they found nothing wrong with it and also tightened up a loose skid cover. They only charged me a small fee for a quick inspection which gave me peace of mind. Our Acura car hit a rock by a curb and the running board had fallen out. My wife got an appointment and she went in. The staff was very friendly including the business owner Tyler. They were able to fix the running board back on after making some amendments to the brackets as one of them was severely bent. Finding a good auto repair shop isn't easy. I'm glad we found Precision! The customer service is excellent! We took our car in for an oil change. Price was reasonable and the wait wasn't too bad. Make sure to make an appointment ahead of time to avoid the hassle of waiting and so on. We always feel really welcome when we take the car in for service. They have a waiting section in the shop with TV, computers, magazines, and coffee! What more can we ask for? Great service overall and they are very organized. Love that! read more

I noticed a six inch crack on the bottom of my windshield late in the afternoon yesterday. Called the following morning and they were really accommodating and flexible with my schedule. Came in that afternoon and within an hour, everything was done. After going to dealerships for maintenance on my vehicles for years, I am happy we started taking our Lexus to Precision for routine maintenance today. They did a complete 60k mileage routine maintenance and installed new front and rear brakes. I had my car back the same day, which had never happens at a dealership. Precision has been our go to auto repair service for 20+ years now. The owners must be doing something right because I see the same dedicated employees there every time I visit. For that matter the owner has been very fair and reasonable with me in those situations where a repair resulted in unidentified problems initially. Not always the most reasonably priced facility in town, but I believe its one of those things where you get what you pay for. I don't want to have to worry about my wife or daughters vehicles breaking down as the result of shoddy work. read more

I have given these guys good reviews before but they deserve another one. A month ago I scheduled my 2006 Honda Pilot with over 190K miles in for a ton of maintenance - new timing belt, new spark plugs, and new oil pump. A week before those repairs were to occur a check engine light came on. Turned out the engine valves needed adjustment and a sensor needed replacement. On short notice I brought the vehicle in and they took care of everything. It is running better than it has in a long time. I am shooting for 250K+ miles. Precision will get me there. Subaru Outback Owner. Bought it for its reliability and reputation. Took my car Livermore Subaru for the normal 48K mile service and was told that I needed brakes. The pads had less than 3 millimeters left and it was critical that they get replaced immediately. This was my first out of pocket expense on the car so I figured I'd shop the work around. I needed the car so I left but planned on getting that service scheduled. Asked for a quote before I left, it was approximately $930+. I called Precision Auto as I used for my previous car which was a Toyota, they quoted me $317 for the front, same price for the back, so $640. So I took it to them They called me a few hours later stating the brakes were fine, in fact there was still more than 50% of the pad left. I DIDN"T NEED BRAKES AT ALL! Livermore Subaru are crooks. You hear stories about auto shops doing unnecessary work but I didn't think a dealer would do it. I can honestly tell you that I will never own another Subaru and Livermore Subaru will only see my car of FREE warranty work that is found by the other independent shop. I wish there was more I could do other than send this email in that will be read and the disregarded. Precision could have done the work and I wouldn't have know the difference. I was told the car needed brakes and I asked Precision to replace them. Instead, they told me the TRUTH, what a novel idea. I didn't need the work so they weren't going to do it. These guys are honest and trustworthy. They will get all of my service and repair work. You can't go wrong bringing your car here. read more

I found this place through yelp because I needed to have my car smog, the A/C fixed, and see what's going on with my clutch on my Honda Civic. I dropped off my car late afternoon so they can work on it the next day in the morning and they did all in 4 hours or less. My A/C just needed recharging, my car pass smog, and they told me I needed a new clutch. They originally were going to charge me over $100 to inspect the clutch but waived it after looking at it and fixing the other stuff, which was really nice of them. I liked their work so much I came back with my Honda Fit which needed A/C work also but needed more than just a recharge... They fixed the compressor and they notice the frame that supports the radiator was bent upward and they bent the frame and the piping back to normal with no extra charge. My car shut down on me early Tuesday morning, leaving me stuck at an intersection with lots of unhappy people. AAA came to my rescue and towed me to Precision, where right from the start I felt completely comfortable and knew I could trust these guys. Ben was my main associate. He was incredibly friendly, apologized that I was having such a bad morning and walked me through their process, diagnostic payments, etc and let me know there was a shuttle available if I needed to get back to work. I grabbed some stuff out of my car, gave them the reigns over my little bucket and only had to wait a few minutes for the shuttle, which was a quick and easy drive down the street with another friendly employee. Ben advised me that they might not be able to get to my car today, which was ok with me, but they are quick and around 1pm he calls me with a run down of the issues and a price. I did not move forward with any work as I figured it's just my time to move on from my little clunker. Even though I declined repairs, I still received five star service; they let me keep my car there over night with no charge, I was able to have it towed out of their yard by another company, and walked away with more knowledge and a new car shop for life! Nice group here, but not really sure what happened. I had a 2003 Civic and had experienced what seemed like low idling and the car almost dying. I was recommended Precision by a family mechanic who was too busy. Long story short: Bad Vtech valve I guess (I am not a car guy, so please forgive me). They called and said it would be like 600 bucks with some other things included (Oil Change, New wipers, Etc..). They worked with me on the price as I was unable to pay for all of it, and I thanked them profusely. Next day: Engine light on again, car idling weird again. At this point the car shakes slightly as it idles. I call them, and whoever I spoke to was not very apologetic, and basically said I could drop it off and they would look at it again. Thanks. Being that A.) I work in San Jose every day and live in San Ramon without another car, that's a NOPE. B.) I just had to rearrange me schedule for a week while they worked on my car, and it costs me an arm and a leg, that is also a NOPE. C.) Not open on weekends, so NOPE. This last weekend, I got rid of the car and got something else. I cannot afford another week of 3 hour commutes and 500 bucks on a car that may or may not work. I went back and forth on writing this, but I decided to. I think how this went down stinks, and it forced me to get a new car. I would have refrained had I not felt like I was bothering them by calling to voice the issue. I am sure they do great work most of the time, and simply missed the mark on this, but the feeling of "well, such is life, just drop it back off" that I got simply stinks. 2 stars cause they were pleasant and I am know they gave me a fair price. read more
