I waited a few months before posting this because I wanted to be fair, but my experience with this…read moreplumbing company was extremely disappointing and very similar to what many other reviewers have described. I contacted them about a leak under my toilet. They sent a technician within a couple of days. He was polite, but it was obvious he relied heavily on his supervisor for guidance. In addition to the toilet leak, I asked for a quote to replace our water main shutoff valve, which wasn't working. They quoted $5,000 to fix the toilet leak due to an issue with the flange. Work began around 8 AM on Friday. By noon, the technician said there were complications but believed he could handle them. By 5 PM, he told us he couldn't finish the job and that it would have to wait until Monday. We have one bathroom, and now we had no working toilet. We had no choice but to get a hotel for the entire weekend. On Monday, an older plumber arrived and completed the job in just over an hour. When I called the supervisor to request a discount--given that we had to spend hundreds of dollars on a hotel because their technician left us without a functioning bathroom--he refused. He said the only way they would offer any discount was if we hired them for additional work. They also quoted $5,400 to replace the water main shutoff valve. I got a second opinion, and the new plumber told me that in many towns the shutoff valve is replaced by the town because it's on the street side of the meter. I contacted the town, and they replaced it for $140. This company consistently overcharges and shows no interest in helping customers--only in upselling and maximizing profit. Read their responses to negative reviews and you'll see the pattern clearly. Do not use this company under any circumstances!

Northborooil installed bryant HVAC system for me. After less than 12 months of using, the joint in…read morethe air handler leaked. I had 3 licensed hvac guys looked up, all saying the joint was soft soldered which is up to 400 psi good for hot water pipes but not good enough for new bryant system, it should be brazed for up to 800psi. Northborooil denied their responsibility and gave a repair quote which was higher than all the other hvacs. Another complaint is Northborooil didn't register bryant warranty for me. Btw, the Northborooil hvac technician was rude and kept blaming someone touched the line, nobody walked up and touched anything in the atic after the installation. While other hvac companies were courteous and subjective. Be careful to choose Northoborooil for your hvac job.

It was very hard to decide on a star rating. I don't like star rating to reflect price, but this…read morewas a bit of an unusual situation. My geothermal heat pump stopped working, and I had been told by someone else it was likely a bad capacitor. I could get a replacement for about $20 and install it myself, but if I wasn't careful, could get seriously hurt. So I called the experts. The good: they came quickly (within 2 hours of my voicemail to them), and the work that they did do was (from what I can tell) done well. The bad: it was massively expensive. $538 to replace a $20 40 uF capacitor, that did not fix my problem, and never actually got used. When they called me back, they told me it would be $170 to come out and determine the problem, plus the cost of the repair. OK, I said, figuring it would be a $50-$100 job above the $170 fee. The tech tested the capacitor, and it worked, but was out of specs. He replaced it with a universal capacitor (a $50-$100 part), which had the sole advantage that the tech could test different uF levels. I agreed to replacing that, since it part was out of spec and would need replacing anyways. It did not fix the problem. I was charged $368 for parts+labor for that (above the $170 fee to show up). That's about $250 labor for maybe 15 minutes of labor (he was here for about 45 minutes, but I'd guess about 30 minutes of that should have been covered by the $170 fee to show up and diagnose the problem). They did provide a quote to replace the compressor, but I ended up getting a geothermal company approved by the manufacturer to look at it. This other company had to replace the compressor (which was under warranty), and gave me a replacement 40 uF capacitor at no extra charge, so the fancy universal capacitor was never even got used. Ultimately, I paid over $500 to replace a $20 part, that did not fix my problem. If it had just been the $170 fee to "arrive at residential customers home and determine issue with system", that would be fair: I knew the exact price ahead of time. But an extra $368 above that to replace a $20 part that didn't even require replacement (but was about due for it)? Not cool.
