I can't recommend this place enough. Thought I needed to replace a washer fluid pump on a Volvo XC-90, and was prepared to cough up the 200 bucks to replace it. They went and found a small valve in the hose that had gone bad, replaced it for 30 bucks and sent me away extremely happy. While I'm sure there will be costlier repairs ahead, this is the kind of place--and these are the kinds of people--that I want to have a longstanding business relationship with. My '05 Mazda 3 was stalling at intersections after replacing the battery. The guys informed me that the electronic throttle body programming just needed some time to reprogram itself after a loss of power. Sent me on my way with no charge. After trying to contact many auto shops to fix the ABS module of my car, they were one of the few who answered my e-mail and were extremely helpful, polite and friendly. They also had the best price after I had researched many places. Many auto shops were extremely rude when I called them asking for estimate. Precision Import was a little bit far from my house, since I live downtown DC. But after I had an estimate of 1200 dollars to fix the module, the guy said I would still need an extra $500 to reconfigure the computer. After calling precision import, they told me they would do the entire job for about $1100, cheaper than anywhere else I've researched. It's been already 2 months and 1500 miles run on my car, and it looks perfect. read more

I brought a used car here for an inspection before buying it. The mechanic checked it out, including driving it, but missed the fact that the front springs were broken! They had represented the mechanic as SAAB experienced, and there is a technical service bulletin (I found out later) that highlights broken springs as a potential issue, and he had the car on the lift, but missed an obvious issue. I bought the car on his recommendation and found the spring problem when getting new tires fitted. I called back and they apologized and said they might be able to "do something" and then quoted $804 for new springs! I bought a pair for $80 and installed them in two hours. Honest - what more could you ask for from any service provider?!! I have been taking my 98 honda to the shop and they are still able to keep it running. I drive all the way from DC just to get my car serviced! Steve is always willing to explain all of their recommendations for repairs in such a clear and thoughtful manner. The environment is friendly and the shop always goes above and beyond! Even dropping and picking me up from the metro and letting my car stay for a few days extra at no cost when I had some unexpected business travel. I also appreciate the fact that they tell me when a repair is worth it and when it is not based on a holistic approach - eg will tell you when it is time to pull the plug on the car versus paying for more repairs. Took my car there when two other mechanics failed to fix the problem. I know they put more time into it than they charged me for. They took the time to explain what was going on, and they identified another mechanics mistake and fixed it. Their prices are as good as they get, and they were honest about what needed to be done. Got my 08 4X4 Toyota 4 Runner serviced and they replaced all my CV boots. They were honest with their recommendations and the price was right. At the end, they also checked what was causing the grinding sound and as it turns out, it was my break caliper sticking! There was no charge for the troubleshooting and I noticed that there was no pressure to get my breaks done with them. I didn't get the breaks serviced by them since I can do that myself. These guys are the best! I just moved to the area and faced the battle of finding an auto mechanic and third times a charm! They were extremely helpful and explained everything to me. The work was done very quickly and the quote they gave me was a quarter of the cost of what another mechanic had proposed for the same problem. Before I found them I felt like I was being taken advantage of because I don't know a lot about cars, I had been pushed in the direction to do expensive services that weren't necessary. I ended up waiting to fix the actual problem because the mechanic told me there was no point in doing one service if I didn't do another (and told me I would irreversible damage to my engine if I didn't do the services WHICH WAS NOT TRUE). I don't want to waste time talking too much about the nightmares I dealt with at other establishments but I can say that I am so relieved to have found such FAIR, KNOWLEDGEABLE and HONEST mechanics! read more

We are very pleased with quality of service and customer care at Precision Import. I had to replace CAT Converter on my Toyota, the job not every mechanic will take. I also had a very narrow time frame for this job. These guys were able to make time for my car and did an excellent repair work. Communication was very friendly, honest and detailed. Precision Imports referred by a friend who is very particular about his vehicles. I looked at the reviews posted as well and was impressed. I have a BMW X5. I had it towed on a Friday morning and Steve called as soon as it arrived. They ran some tests and called with the results. We discussed what they found and what needed to be done. Steve was aware I had borrowed a car and wanted to mine back to me as soon as possible. He called a few times that day with updates. By the end of the day it was still not running 100% and he wanted to keep it until Saturday morning. They found the problem and fixed. It runs better than ever. Steve called me first thing Monday morning to see how it was running. He wanted me to replace the filler cap since it was old and may cause the check engine to come back on and wanted to add some engine cleaner to the gas tank. I took it back a couple of days later. He did all this and only charged me for the parts. I will definitely take my X5 back. I already referred 1 person who has taken their X3 in. read more

I took my 2002 Mitsubishi Gallant here because of the other yelp reviews. My car was overheating as I waiting in traffic, so I took it to this garage, and had it assessed. They had told me when I called that they would assess it for free. I dropped it off and the employee kindly gave me a ride to the metro so I could go to work. They assessed the problem, and called me to explain what was occurring (one of the cooling fans was broken). He quoted me a price. I called my Dad to get some feedback on what I should do. Then I called them back and told them to replace the fan. They told me that the price was going to be a little cheaper than originally quoted! That was a nice surprise. When I went to pick up my car, the price was even a little lower than the low price he had quoted me on the phone! Even better! However, they had shown a charge on the paperwork for $55 for the initial vehicle issue assessment. I reminded them that they had told me that it would be a free assessment, and they quickly agreed to take the $55 off the bill. So my final bill was about $80 less than I had expected! Awesome! My car is working fine now. I will definitely return to this place for future issues. They seem like an honest company. read more

have to concur with all the other reviews. These guys are great. We've been taking cars there for about 20 years. These guys worked there a long time and eventually bought out the previous owner and kept all the same great level of service and care. they are always straight and never inflate prices. For instance, today, I took it in for two repairs. i told them I had a budget of $2K so if both could be done for that, do both. they called me back and said the first repair was actually only minor and the second one was just what I expected. Final price $415. does any other service center do that? they also drive me over to Tysons and pick me up which is really great. they might only do this some days of the week though so check. I cant recount all the great experiences I've had over the years, but there has never been a bad one. I've also had them tell me that the dealer could give me a better deal on something. Just great. I took my Subaru to a dealer and they quoted $3,700 worth of work, which included a timing belt change as the car has 100,000 miles on it. Not trusting the dealers estimate, I tried Precision Import Services. I am glad that I did. I felt that the team there was extremely knowledgeable when dealing with cars. In addition to what the dealer found, they noticed that the head gaskets were leaking, a common problem in a Boxer engine (I was wondering where the oil was coming from in my garage). This is a major issue if not taken care of as it can cause engine failure. They were experienced enough to know that the seal that is normally used has a high incident of failure. Because of this, they had already done research on an improved seal that they have had success with on other cars with the same engine. They were very reasonable based on internet pricing searches. They were fair by stating that due to the amount of dis-assembly from the timing belt, fixing both seals at that time would save cost due to money as a package with the timing belt. They did not charge me for items I did not need but would have not have remembered were new. I did not feel pressured to do the work. If you want to be advised by experts, who are honest and fair I would recommend going there. They seem to know what they are doing and work on doing things right. read more
