It took a couple of weeks just to get him on the phone after leaving multiple VMs. I had to call 15 times in a row like a crazy person until Justin picked up the phone. I explained the issue and he told me to text his "office" about what parts they should order (how professional!). They ordered parts (without actually being on-premise) that arrived weeks ago, and still won't schedule a time to come to the property. I couldn't get a hold of him until I texted him that I was going to leave a poor review. He called me, asked the address of my property, said he'd look into it, and hung up on me. First, I'll say that the two different guys that came to initially see what was wrong, and then to replace the part on our dryer were very polite and efficient. The problem started when we could not get them to pick up the phone. A couple days after the part was ordered a woman called to tell us it would be arriving the following day so she set up an appointment for us. After the appointment time passed we called to see what was going on and no answer. After calling multiple times, we finally just reached out to our home warranty company and they were able to get ahold of them after several attempts. The part did not come in, which isn't a big deal, we're patient. Since no-showing on the appointment we have not been able to make contact at all. The only times we've able to get information from them was through our warranty company. I work in customer service and have a lot of empathy for people who work with the public, but the absolute lack of communication is unacceptable. We tried calling multiple times a day for about a week, only to be sent to voicemail. We're thankful to be done with them. read more

FINAL UPDATE 6/19/18: This is what I wrote Tino just now: "Tino, you're a nice man but you honestly have put us in a terrible place. We had 2 companies verify that it is not a plumbing issue. Additionally, the tilting of the condensation pipe was incorrect, it was going backwards into the unit, so that's why our closet flooded. We learned that it is standard practice to detect the drain hose before any repairs or installations are made. It appears you failed to do this. We have spent over $450 to fix this issue, not to mention experienced stress and discomfort the whole weekend." --- UPDATE: Preferred AC has quickly become my go to since they did a great job on the first major repair/replacement that was needed after I moved into my home. Twice now I have had minor issues with the AC (not any fault of theirs), and each time Tino has made the time to arrive and provide repairs quickly. I couldn't be more relieved since it is roasting out. Thanks, Tino and team! --- We used Preferred AC since they are a provider for our home warranty insurance, First American (which deserves an F-, but that is a different review). They got the job done (replacing our AC system, essentially, along with cleaning our furnace), with some hiccups in the middle with scheduling and communication issues, but ultimately Tino and his team were respectful and knowledgeable. He really went above and beyond to come back when we had a minor filter issue, and we appreciated all his efforts throughout our project. My only suggestions to the company are: 1. please look into a better scheduling tool so that your customers don't fall off the radar 2. Be more available during business hours. Since my last review, my wall-mounted AC unit stopped cooling. 2-10 Home Warranty, again, referred me to Preferred AC and Tino came back. Again, he was efficient, friendly, prompt and he didn't give me any run-around about "limping" the AC unit along for a "few more months" -- he saw the AGE of the unit & immediately recommended to 2-10 that we replace the unit... waiting to see what that means to me in $$, but i was happy to get the verdict quickly. These guys were also dispatched by my home warranty. When trying to set up an appointment the told me they couldn't schedule as far out as a week in advance (frustrating, but not entirely unreasonable) and that I should call back the following week to set up an appointment. I called them, set up an appoint with a 4 hour window (again, annoying but still somewhat reasonable). The day of the appointment comes and...NOTHING. Nobody shows up, no phone call no anything. At that point, I'm done, and have to strongly recommend anyone thinking about working with this company not waste their time. Since there are a lot of people on here knocking home warranty companies here, I'll call mine, 2-10 out for immediately re-setting my service request and sending out a new contractor to take care of the job, as well as filing a complaint against Preferred AC&Appliance. 2-10 did the best they could in this situation, and I really appreciate them for it. read more

HORRIBLE company. My home warranty company assigned me these guys. They came out once and didn't fix the problem so I called back to get them to come out again. They let me know yesterday that my appointment would be in between 1:00-4:00 pm today and they would call me 15 mins before so I could come out. They called me at 11:00 am and left me a voicemail saying if I didn't get back to them within the next 15 mins I would have to reschedule. I called them back at 11:40 and now have called back probably 8 times with no response. Finally, I called my home warranty company to see if they could figure something out. The customer service rep somehow got ahold of the company and the gentleman told him my appointment would be moved to Monday and then hungup on him. I am EXTREMELY dissatisfied with this Preferred AC & Appliance. My house is extremely hot AND I cannot get off work on Monday and already spoke with my boss about leaving early today when they called me. Absolutely unacceptable. I believe this teams's means well and they did provide prompt service during the initial request placed by my landlord. Unfortunately they will not return any phone calls nor return to the house to finalize the repair work - despite saying they would do so. The condensing unit fan went out, if was replaced, however the wires serving the fan were zip tied outside the condensing unit and left exposed for animals to chew (already happened) and for the sun to erode. These are simply the worst guys I have dealt with...ever. I have a Frigidaire built in microwave that is 4 months old. Frigidaire told me to contact these guys to come and repair in as it is under warranty. So I called and scheduled them to come between 12-4 on a Wednesday. On that Wednesday morning, the tech called and said he need to reschedule because he was too busy. I told him I had taken a half day off from work to be there and that I couldn't move it. So he said he would come but it would be late. When he had not showed up by 5 I called. I got his voicemail. I waited another hour to hear back, but nothing. I called again. And still no response. A few days passed and I was so busy at work I forgot about it. But I called again on Friday and they said they could come again the next Wednesday (note: the man on the line didn't bother to even apologize). So what happened on Wednesday? No visit, no call. That was a week ago. I have called several times since and still no response. So I let Frigidaire know about this and hopefully they will deal with it. But if you are looking for someone to work with...these guys are not it. read more

I wish I could say I had as great an experience as the 2 previous reviewers. Not sure what has changed with this company as this was my first (and last) experience with them, but they are nothing like the other reviews say. Very disappointing! I was also referred/sent to these guys from 2-10 Home Warranty. Although I was told Preferred AC would call me to setup an appointment, after 3 days of no contact I called them. Giving them the benefit of the doubt (hey, maybe the warranty company *meant* to tell me to call them instead?) I gave them a call. Left a message. No call back. Called again the next day, left message. No call back. Ok....really? Call again, this time they take my info and say they will call me back to schedule the appointment. I call again....after 2 days of no call back and finally get an appointment scheduled. As you can imagine, this was a frustrating process already. The day of the appointment I was given the window of 8am-12pm and told to have the $60 deductible fee to pay to them when they arrived. At 12:45pm....no show, no call. I call and leave message as they did not answer. At 1pm I receive a call back saying we're running late. (no apology, no estimate on when they'd arrive, nothing. very unprofessional!). I ask him when he thinks he will arrive, and he did tell me but in all honesty, I cannot remember his answer. He did show up between 1:15-1:30. The appointment was very brief. In and out in about 15 minutes or less. Said he needed to order parts. No estimate of time was given nor did I know what parts he was ordering. They cashed the $60 check the very next day. This happened about 1.5 weeks before Christmas. The original claim to start this whole process was filed before Thanksgiving with the warranty company to give you an idea of how long this has already taken. After over a month went by with no call or information, I called them on 1/13, left message. No call back. (sound familiar?) Called again a week later 1/20. Left message. No call back. (HOW HARD IS IT TO RETURN A CALL??) Called again today 1/29. They answer! As I just begin to say what I am calling about they rudely cut me off and ask for the property address. The man (I don't know his name) asks for my number and tells me he 'just saw my paperwork and will call me right back'. I wait an hour. then another. It's been over 8 hours and guess what.....NO CALL BACK. At this point, after over 2 months of trying to get my stove/oven fixed, I called my warranty company to report them. I've got a new repair company coming out and the warranty company says they will stop using them as contractors (doubt this is true, but it's nice to think they would). My advice - DO NOT USE. If your warranty company wants to use them, refuse and ask for another (trust me, they have LISTS of contractors they could call). We've had a range of problems with our house (right at the age where major appliances are turning) and 2-10 has referred us to Preferred AC & Appliance three times. I'm giving them two stars ONLY because the 2nd visit got us a new oven, but it took 3 months due to their mistake. The first visit was fruitless (made no repairs to a failing old AC unit), and this most recent visit was the last straw. The pilot light on our gas heater kept going out and we had to light it manually with a torch. A different contractor came out but wouldn't touch it because of the needed repairs and said to call the warranty company. 2-10 referred Preferred AC and they got in touch with us very quickly. They scheduled us for same-day service, which was awesome, except they were 1.5hrs late. No head's up, just left me sitting at home waiting during business hours. When they finally arrived they said they needed to order a part and that they'd be back the next day at 10am to fix it. In the meantime, no heat. Well it got down to the mid 30s that night and it was COLD in the house. People nor pets were pleased. The next day 10am came and went, then 11am, and by 11:30 I was calling them to see where they were UHgain. They'd be there in 30 minutes. 45 minutes later (after another call and reaching out to 2-10) they show up only to end up cleaning the pilot light and leaving. The process took 5 minutes, but resulted in hours of time off work and no heat in the middle of winter. When I brought up these concerns neither the technician nor the dispatcher were particularly receptive - in fact, the owner followed up only to verify that I knew that they fixed the problem quickly because the warranty company was mad and he needed to cover his butt. I would have been way happier waiting for 2 or 3 days and using the heater as we'd been using it rather than waiting on them for hours, being cold and eventually receiving bad customer service. They're just "very busy" and we're "lucky" they got us in that fast. I get that, but customers are also busy and businesses are responsible for making good on their promises. A simple phone call to reschedule could have made this way less ridiculous. They've had 3 chances not to be such a fail. I will absolutely request a different provider from 2-10 the next time something breaks. read more

I would never use this company on my own and if I my home warranty ever told me I had to, I'd fight tooth and nail not to. They came out in 2014 and repaired my AC via my home warranty. They replaced parts and connected the wires outside the protective shroud and just taped it. I didn't think anything of it and now it's causing an issue with me selling my house. I called to speak with a representative with the company and the person I spoke with immediately became confrontational, cursed at me, and hung up on me. STAY AWAY!!!! This place is horrible. After being assigned to them by Allied Home Warranty (another terrible company I will never use again) they no-showed twice, and we called Allied to be reassigned to another vendor. Well, they reassigned us to these people again. Genius. Apparently South Austin is some remote part of Texas where there are not a lot of appliance repair folks... Every company Allied has is from Georgetown or Round Rock. This guy came out to look at our dryer, did some kind of half-ass fix and said he was ordering a part. well, that was on 12/30, over 3 weeks ago and we've heard nothing since. They had no problem cashing our check, and now there is no one to answer the phone. Very rude and unprofessional. My home warranty company assigned Preferred AC to me and Shannon had called me to set up an appointment for 10am on a work week. I told her to have the technicians call me when they were 10mins from my house since I worked down the street. On the said day, Tino had called me that he was heading to my place and was 15mins away and I told him that I'll be home in 10mins. Tino's responses: "oh, you are not even home? Don't even worry about it then. I'll call you tomorrow" then he hung up before I could even say a word. The next day, I waited to get a call from Tino and by noon I decided to give him a call. He asked for my address and informed me that he will dispatch a technician in 30mins. I waited an hour and still no call/technician. I called him 3 more times in 1hr intervals leaving a voicemail each time but still no call back. The next day I called and this time Tino picked up. I informed him how disappointed I was and before I could say anything, he interrupted me yelling "So do you want to get back on the schedule or what do you want?" Note to Tino: contrary to your belief, the reason why your business is horrible and you have this many negative reviews is not because you are a minority owned business but because you are an a-- hole. read more

I was assigned these jokers twice through my home warranty (2-10) and neither time did they reach out in the allotted time (48 hours). I called them several times and left messages just asking for a call back, then they started screening my calls. I had to talk to the home warranty company and told them about the horrible reviews on Yelp and she said "we don't really listen to reviews". I told the woman that "as a paying customer of 2-10 I was in the process of giving them a bad review and asked if that that was enough of a review for her to listen to?" Great experience. Had an issue with my AC, but not any more. Not only did they fix the problem, they taught me how to prevent it. That is pretty great. 7/19/17 HORRIBLE AND RUDE. Allied Home Warranty sent this company to fix a minor problem on our air conditioner He came in the morning and by noon we realized the problem was not fixed. My husband called him and left a message on his phone that afternoon, and tried to reach him for the next 3 days but could not even leave a message because his mailbox was full. On the 4th day, he answered the phone. When my husband told him he had not fixed the problem, he said for him to return it would not be covered by the warranty and it would require an expensive procedure to fix the problem. The technician was very courteous and I felt that he really cared about the work he was doing and wasn't trying to rush through to get to the next job. WARNING!!!!!!! STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AS POSSIBLE. Preferred AC & Applicance was assigned by 2-10 warranty to fix my microwave. They came out to diagnose the issue and determined that a part needed to be ordered. After they diagnosed the issue and received the service fee payment from me it was complete radio silence. Neither myself or 2-10 warranty could get a hold of them and they would not return either one of our phone calls. As a result of their non-responsiveness, the part that needed to be ordered to fix my microwave could not be ordered. They are 100% unprofessional and unresponsive. After several weeks went by, 2-10 warranty was finally able to get a contact with the business (Shannon)- and provided me her number to work with on scheduling repairs. Shannon was also uresponsive and when she finally returned my call she would blame 2-10 warranty. It took OVER a MONTH for them to come back out and replace the mircowave hinges on my applicance, and was then told by the contractor that the microwave was still was not working and that he needed to order more parts to fix the problem. Long story short, I never heard back from them after this visit and received notification from 2-10 warranty that the Service Request was reported fixed and resolved by Preferred AC & Applicance. Meanwhile, I still have a broken microwave and am out of pocket the service fee that I paid Preferred AC & Appliance. They are TERRIBLE! I never write reviews....but after having this horrific experience with Preferred AC & Appliance, hopefully 2-10 warranty and other warranty companies see this- and fire them from their list of preferred contractors. And if you are not a warranty company and just looking to locate someone to repair your appliance- do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. I don't think they have any idea what they're doing. They were assigned to us as a part of our home warranty plan. The first time they came out and charged us for a service call, they didn't actually check on anything. They later admitted to just relying on the diagnosis of an A/C company that came out previously but who wasn't covered under our home warranty. Based on another company's diagnosis, they supposedly replaced the motor on the A/C unit, but the same exact issue recurred hours after they left. They came back out, spent less than 5 minutes in our house, and claimed the real issue was the thermostat (it wasn't) and when we challenged them (the thermostat does hold on a setting), they hung up on us. This is the telephone number associated with the repair company that my landlord's home warranty set up. They are now calling themselves First American. They absolutely suck. I have been getting the run around for months. It took a week or persistent calling to even get an appointment. It was a four hour time window. I work nights and they called and said they would be there in 30 min this morning so I slept on the couch by the door so I wouldn't miss them. I woke up an hour later and no show. I called them (twice) and the repair man said that the technician knocked with no answer so they left and bumped me without a phone call. The technicians apparently can't call. Firs tech comes in, orders a bunch of parts. Second tech comes in to install them, says a part was not ordered. Two weeks later haven't heard back from them. Call, no answer. Second call, no answer, leave VM. Next day, call, no answer. Another call, a male employee answers and tells me my work order is closed. When I asked why, he proceeds to sarcastically suggest if I need to be explained what closed means. He then proceeds to insult me, my father and my mother, then dare me to call 2-10 warranty. I have to agree with the first reviewer. These guys are awful. They refuse to return my phone calls and I have to go through the manufacturer to get in touch with anyone. When they serviced the fridge, they didn't do it properly and they had to come back out. They say that they are going to order the necessary parts only to wait endlessly for weeks. Upon a follow up phone call to the manufacturer, they apparently didn't order the part and we have been needlessly waiting. This has happened twice now with two different parts. These guys are absolutely awful. I highly recommend anyone looking for a repair man to go far away from these guys. I was assigned to Preferred AC & Appliance through Fidelity National Home Warranty and at first they had all the promise of being able to fix my sweatbox of a home. My AC has been out for two days and they were quick to respond and arrived at their designated meeting time. In my request I stated the AC unit was on the roof. Apparently, preferred was not aware because the gentleman was not happy, but he did it. He inspected the unit on the roof TWICE. He advised he can't put the coolant in the unit because of weather and that he would be back tomorrow. This morning I received a call from Fidelity explaining Preferred told them they can't do the work because the unit is on the roof. Now I get to wait for another repairman and another day living in a sweat box. How can you do one thing (i.e. get on the roof to inspect the unit) and then say another?! read more

Miss diagnosed one causing my claim to be denied. I was not comfortable with having them back to do any work. Absolutely horrendous. I was assigned to Preferred AC & Appliance through Fidelity National home warranty for a claim that I opened at the end of June. After not receiving any communication from them for two weeks, I finally called to see what was up. Got the answering machine. When I called back a few days later after another stretch of radio silence, someone did pick up, and as a previous reviewer has relayed similarly, the employee rudely interrupted me mid-sentence asking for the property address. He offered to schedule an appointment, but when I instead pressed him to find out why no one had contacted me for two weeks, he became agitated and told me that there was no one present who could answer my question. As I began to tell him that I didn't want to schedule an appointment and would instead be calling my warranty provider, he hung up on me mid-sentence. Luckily my warranty provider was very accommodating, and got me rescheduled with a different service provider. They also filed a complaint on my behalf regarding the lack of professionalism Preferred showed. Hopefully I can get them removed from the provider list and save everyone else here some precious time and money. Until then, don't waste your time with this business. Fixed the issue but time management was really really poor. This was not on the actual work being done it was showing up on time. Said they'd be there in 30 minutes. Showed up an hour and 10 minutes later. ok I'll let that slide. Things happen. Then day 2 told me they'd be there around 10am. 11:30am rolls around no word so I called. They back peddled and said "I said 11am.......i said around the same time........" Then they were to come back and change my thermostat and if they couldn't make it they'd let me know. I texted them a little after 9am. "Can you please let me know if you are coming so that I can go into work if not?" Took until after 10:30 to get a phone call to tell me they weren't coming. At this point I could've been at work for 2 hours. Rescheduled for another day, I texted the day before confirming are you still coming tomorrow morning. No response. I stayed home from work again they were a no show which is extremely poor customer service. I get stuff can happen but communication is key to good customer service. Your clients time is just as important as yours. Most of us are incredibly busy and need the same consideration for our time as well. read more

They plugged 90V of stuff through a wire rated for 60V. Wire melted and house almost caught fire....this is about 6 months after they had installed an A/C that kept breaking down and didn't answer the phone when I called about it. Luckily fire was small and house didn't burn down and nobody was hurt. I would never work with these guys, and would advise you to stay away. Really upset and may be filing a lawsuit. They are having unqualified people half ass work and not only not doing their job, but more importantly in my case putting people's lives in danger. read more

I have to admit, I was skeptical when I read these reviews. But Preferred AC was assigned by my home warranty. This was the easiest, quickest process I've ever had going through home warranty. Tino came out very quickly and recommended a new AC unit to our warranty company. The report was submitted next morning and just a few days later, we have a brand new AC. They scheduled the install literally the day after the new units were available. We did have to pay a few charges that the warranty won't cover, but they were VERY reasonable (about $750 , on a new warranty covered $8000 unit) Many companies charge over $2k for the non-covered items . Tino and "Curly" arrived early and kept everything clean and were very courteous. Couldn't be happier. This is a family owned company and it shows. read more

I had an issue with my refrigerator (loud motor noise) and my home warranty sent me someone from Preferred. I was initially pleased with the service as the technician was polite and had seemingly fixed the issue. Apparently tightening a screw was not enough to fix the problem. It began making the same terrible noise three days later after I had paid my $70 service fee. I called back to take them up on their 60 day warranty and they said they would order the part. It has now been two weeks (still within their 60 day warranty) and I'm no longer able to get anyone on the phone. I call several times a day and they do not respond. If I could give them negative stars I would. They were booked by my home warranty company, flaked once without notice after my wife waited for 4 hours. After offering a weak excuse when she finally reached them, they rescheduled for the next day only to no-show again. I followed up the same day to find out what the problem was and my questions were received with a barrage of four-letter names and insults that I'm uncomfortable repeating online. I called 2-10 two weeks ago because my ac/and heating unit fan would not turn on. They sent a contractor from Preferred AC & Appliance to my condo on 2/7/13, and determined my fan motor was out. Then they waited SIX DAYS AFTER coming to my home to even order the part. It is now Monday, February 18, and the part has still not arrived. I spoke to 2-10 today about wanting to work with another contractor, but told me I could not since the other company has (supposedly) ordered the part. Not only have both of these companies failed to provide the service I have paid for and expect, but the HVAC company, Preferred AC & Appliance, did not show up twice to my home, and did not bother to call and let me know they were cancelling. In addition, when I call and try and talk to the owner, he is rude, and has hung up on me. I have been in weather as low as 36 degrees and today the high is 81. I have an 11 year old son with allergies and asthma, as well as my own allergy and asthma, and I need someone to provide me assistance immediately. Desired Settlement: Replacement Desired Outcome: I would like Preferred AC & Appliance to be notified of their poor business ethics, or lack-there-of, and a formal complaint filed against their company to warn potential clients to use a different company. I called to have my dishwasher fixed and my insurance assigned me this contractor but the first date no appearence and no call, the second and third one either. After 2 weeks i am still waiting for them to make an appearance to fix my stuff. They have a terrible service, terrible!!!!! I do not recommend anyone to use them for any reason. read more
