Unfortunately while buying my car my wife's own car had an issue and the battery died in the parking lot. Meanwhile my two year old son was not in the best of spirits either. Do not buy your next vehicle at Premier Subaru! They force you to pay for service they say is needed to complete recall work. I brought this to attention of Subaru of America and they said I will not be reimbursed because it was past deadline to submit claim. The service department here has horrible service advisors that don't care about the customer. They denied me a loaner when they had like 8 of them parked on the back. Never buying a Subaru again! Some service is reasonable, some is not. 65 for an air filter is not. 100 for wiper blades is not. Make sure if you go in for oil change and tire rotation, that you mark 2 of your rims to see if they end up on the other end of the car. I've caught them a couple times not rotating tires after the receipt said the work was done. read more

I brought my 2018 Subaru Outback into Premier Subaru of Middlebury September 18, 2023 because I was having difficulty starting my car. The problem was a communication chip that needed to be replaced. In order for me to be able to start my car as usual by depressing the brake and pushing the start button, the module was disconnected. This solved the starting problem but also made it impossible to use my iPhone with the Subaru STARLINK System. I have been waiting almost 6 weeks for the part to come in and be installed. Every time I call to check I am told rather curtly that it is back ordered. Meanwhile, I am without use of one of the features that was important to me when I purchased this vehicle. read more

I was offered 7000$ for my Mini during this purchase. When I realized I had to get my title, I paid cash and was told they would take the car and reimburse me when I received the title. It took almost 4 weeks for the process going to the DMV twice. Finally, I have the title and Premer Subaru is only offering me 6000$ for the same car. It is very disappointing. My salesperson did warn me the price may change but 1000$ is ALOT of change. I didn't move or drive the car and had to keep it on insurance. My husband called and there was no negotiating. He left a voicemail for Kerri, but she didn't return the call. It is very frustrating and disappointing. Kerri recently posted that she never received a call from us but that is untrue. She obviously knows she has an unhappy customer and she knows my name, but no call. Once the car was sold to me, they decided my car was worth less. Now I have to figure out what to do. I have previously given this dealership multiple glowing reviews. I have purchased multiple new cars from Premier Middlebury and previously when it was Premier Watertown. Generally speaking I would only have great things to say about both the sales department and the service department... However at the purchase of my most recent vehicle I was swindled into purchasing their "extended warranty"... Now this may come as a surprise as Premier offers an excellent "lifetime power train warranty"... I was told by the financial manager that if I purchased this additional warranty that all my routine services, oil changes, etc would be covered for the first 125,000 miles... "it pays for itself" he says... "the only catch is that the service has to be completed here at premier"... As someone who commutes a great distance daily for work, naturally I accept... I come in today for my first oil change on my new car at 6,000 only to find there is allegedly no such thing. read more

When we called and asked Premier Subaru of Middlebury what they charge to put new brake pads on all four wheels, they said that it would be between $315 and $375 (depending on the quality of the pad) plus tax. We brought the car in today and they asked, "What were you quoted for the brake job?" We told them. When the car was done about 2 1/2 hours later, we were handed a bill for $660.81! We were told that the reason it was almost DOUBLE the price is because they charge per AXEL. They never mentioned that when we called originally! Is this the classic BAIT AND SWITCH tactic? Whoever is reading this: BEWARE and take your care someplace else! read more

I had the pleasure of having my car serviced at the new Middlebury location. It is state of the art from the moment one enters to the overall comfort of the waiting areas. I was first greeted by Don who is knowledgeable, proficient and very accommodating. He is a wonderful ambassador for Premier first for patiently listening to concerns, followed by a guided tour of the entire facility, and lastly fully detailing the service performed. Am writing this on behalf of my brother. On Friday September 6th he called Premier to see if a 2012 Subaru outback was available he spoke with Krystal and was told that unfortunately it was in the shop having a steering pump installed so therefore it couldn't be seen On Saturday he called again and asked if she had any idea as to when it would be worked on. Krystal said she had no idea. On Monday he called again and told Krystal that he was indeed interested as he went by on Sunday and it was out on the lot she again told him that it was in for service...15 minutes later or so Krystal called and said car was available and ready to test drive. She asked how soon could he get there? He was there within 15-20 minutes walked thru the door and someone came out and said that car had been sold...he was quite disgusted as to why was he told to get there quickly knowing that he had been calling for 3 days very interested only to be told it was sold. Very poor communication. Several people came out with a handful of excuses and then was told someone would call one way or another to let him know if the deal went through or not..it's now Tuesday night and still has not received a call. Someone did call though to ask about his experience there which were of couse negative. Would not recommend this dealership they need to get there act together... read more

Spoke with Eleanor Carrano regarding a 2021 subaru wrx. Turns out the one they had available was a premium not a limited. Upon further review I see that the Msrp on the car is roughly 35k and they are asking 40k. When I asked if there were any other addons the response was thats our price maning there are no other addons to justify the inflated price, further more that If I want a 2022 to wait 5 months. Ok now for the reason I give this place 1 star. I understand that there is a chip shortage the the car is in the midst of a body change but lets do the simole math so that you the consumer can get a visual of how this dealership is prepared to rob you without a gun. Car is 35k msrp they are asking 40k Cars invoice is probably 33k Depreciation when you drive the car off the lot 3k. So if they sell you this car at 40k you are upside down, in simple terms negative roughly 10 thousand dollars in equity. You have to pay down 10k before you are even with the car, you are also paying tax on 40k rather than the 35k. See how this adds up to a bad situation for the buyer. I fortunately can do the rough math but this dealership is looking to hit a grandslam on an unexpecting victim. If a dealership wants to charge msrp or even a couple of hundred over because of xyz I can perhaps see it. But this, wow shows me all that I need to see regarding this dealership. read more

I would like to write about the new building for Premier in Middlebury. The design of the interior may please the employees but for those waiting for their cars to be worked on it is abysmal. One has a choice of waiting in a room where the tv is blaring, or out in the area where you are in the midst of office cubicles and sales people who are talking on the phone in voices raised over the din or over cubicle partitions and you could actually participate in their discussions. Or listen to phones ringing or the chaos of an office. It seems in this architectural design the customer has had the least amount of consideration. Why must a tv be on constantly? There are people there trying to read or do work and they can't Why don't they count? I hate going in there and having to wait until my car is finished. From now on I will be going to other businesses. read more

Between my family and one friend we have purchased 7 cars from this dealership. We went in yesterday to turn in 2 leased vehicles and lease a new one. We were very open with what we wanted and our current circumstances and were told very specifically a figure that the car would not cost more than. We agreed to continue discussions and spent a few hours in negotiations. We had to bring in the second car this morning to complete the deal. We spent another couple of hours there. They came back with a figure significantly higher than promised as the highest even though they knew we couldn't do that deal. I was nice and just walked out. My brother was nicer and shook the manager's hand who had the nerve to say "we have little more room". I kept walking. Remaining nice I'll simply say that Management here are a bunch of your stereotypical car salesman. Don't buy a car here. read more

I purchased a 16,000 mile Subaru WRX from this dealership on 2/10/2022. Driving the vehicle home from Connecticut to Upstate NY was fine. The next morning the vehicle would not start. I had the vehicle towed to a local Subaru dealership which did not have a loaner vehicle for me to use. I had to rent a rental car with my own funds. Upon contacting the dealership and notifying them of the issue they told me they had nothing to do with the problem and if I wanted, I would need to bring it back to Connecticut (I live 4 hours away and drive through New York State for my job). The dealership knowingly installed a refurbished, unbranded battery, and did not connect the starting wire properly. Upon further service inspections, the dealership had actually replaced the starting module on January 31, 2022 but did not inform me of this when I purchased the vehicle. Additionally, none of the fluids were topped off (miniscule problem - but lends to the fact that this dealership did not properly take care of this vehicle). I had the battery replaced. The CT dealership refused to reimburse me for the out of pocket expenses for the OEM battery and the rental car I had to rent myself so I could work. Once I got the vehicle back from the Subaru upstate dealership the car failed again - all lights on the dashboard came on, odometer not working, ABS system off, everything. The CT dealership once again told me there was nothing they could do for me. I asked if I could bring the car back and trade it for the WRX I sold to them, at that point they told me that I would be losing out on money and did not offer to help me. They told me they would not even pay for the tow to CT (seeing as how my car was undriveable, not sure how I was supposed to get it to CT). It has been almost 2 months since I bought this car from them, and I have not been able to drive it. The car is still not working. This dealership is deceptive and fraudulent and I expect compensation for out of pocket expense and time read more

If I could give this dealership ZERO STARS I would. Their customer service is the worst I've ever experienced. I brought my car in for service and told them to check over the entire car because I was about to move across the country. They quickly found over a thousand dollars worth of things that needed to be fixed, one of which was my front axles leaking. After two days in the shop in CT I drove out to CO and got my oil changed. That dealership told me the seals on my front axles were leaking. I called Premier and no one wanted to take any ownership. They only said that if I was able to bring it to them they would be able to look at it but since I could not they didn't feel empowered to write a check for another dealership. My car sat in the CO shop for 4 days while Premier passed me around from one person in service to the next. I think I spoke with every person who worked in the service department and none of them were helpful. Whenever I tried to get in contact with the person I was talking with before they were always "with a customer" or "on the phone." No one could give me answers and they all had to talk to the GM who was out of the office in meetings every time I called. I finally took matters into my own hands and called corporate Subaru and they apologized for what I dealt with and they covered the cost to fix the leaking seal. I should also add that this would be the third time I would have had to bring my car back to Premier to fix/finish a job they had already done. The first time I took my car there for a airbag recall and when I left I noticed that my AC was coming out warm every time I turned it on. I brought it back to Premier to find out that they forgot to connect the hose. The second time I had a belt replaced and from the minute I drove off of the lot it squeaked whenever I turned the wheel. I had to take it back for them to adjust the belts they just installed. The third time would be this leaking seal. It seems like every time I go there I end up going back and wasting my time because they can't do their job right the first time. After all of this, Premier called me back and told me they would pay for half of the repair. Which I think is fitting for how they handle their service. If you're looking for terrible customer service and car technicians that always get the job HALF way done then Premier Subaru Watertown is the place for you! read more

I contacted this dealership via the internet, about a newer Forester that recently caught my eye. I had previously bought a premium version at another dealership closer to home , was really unhappy about it as I way over paid for what it was worth and had negative equity. I had been searching high and low for a XT version of the Forester and this one I saw was the one!! It had everything, and at a very reasonable price. I was so excited I decided to come down a few days before my appointment and then was acquainted with Florin Testea, then Joe Hernandez and Gretchen (the Finance manager). Gretchen and Joe worked really hard on getting me approved because of my situation. They were patient and went above and beyond to make my dreams come true on this, last of its kind (Unicorn) XT!! I was more than happy to drive out of my way to this dealership because of all the above, as I live 30 mins away. If I could rate this dealership higher I would have!! read more

Going to the service department is one of the worst experiences of customer service. As soon as you pull into the service center you're greeted by a woman I believe to be named Shannon. She is the rudest human being when it comes to customer service. As we got there was asking for assistance to where we could find someone to assist us that we previously spoke to. She right off the bat starts being rude and having an attitude rolling her eyes. Mind you this is the first person you're greeted by as you exit your vehicle. She repeatedly is rude and wouldn't assist in finding the person rolling her eyes the entire time. This is not the first time coming to this dealership and she as the first person you see and acts like that. Everyone else in the service department is always nice and willing to help. But the person who first greets you being so rude to the point you dread going to the dealership is a problem. She's beyond rude and then once you're all set after being assisted she belts out "have a great day" in the most condescending way. I wouldn't recommend this location to my family I'd tell them to go to other dealers unless they're ready to be greeted with an attitude as soon as they step foot out of the vehicle. It absolutely makes sense that most of their reviews are awful. I bought a 2006 forester from them with a warranty which I was told was bumper to bumper. Within six weeks the check engine light came on. I took my car in when I needed an oil change and was told it was a small evap leak. To summarize a long series of events, multiple employees and managers told me I did not have a warranty. When I showed them my warranty, they all switched their excuse to my repair wasn't covered after they discovered the small evap leak was as they stated 'above the gas tank which required removal of the gas tank, rear axle, and subframe--a 10 hour and $900 repair. I had spoken to as many managers I could to amend the situation. Regardless of my warranty, I hadn't even put 2000 miles on the car, I had it for 6 weeks! They offered me 10% off parts and a discount of $300. I refused. This process took 3 days, in that time period, they had my car. When I got my car back, it wouldn't accept gas. I went to three gas stations before calling them. The service manager yelled at me off the bat saying that he knew who I was and Knows that I had tried to go over his head to other management. He offered me no help and said it was because of the evap leak which they had already told me they were not paying for it. It is worth mentioning that I had put gas in my car with no problem for two weeks waiting for my appointment to fix the evap leak. My car left their hands in worse condition, and they told me it was just coincidence. I got a second opinion from a trusted mechanic who within seconds, noticed the the hose in my evap system was not only disconnected, but capped off. I still have the clear plastic cap. I was immediately able to put gas in without issue. He checked the codes that were causing my check engine light and there were two. The main one was a vent problem. The second was a small evap leak which he said in his opinion was due to the hose being disconnected. He cleared them to see which would come back to determine the original problem. My check engine light has not come back on since. It's been over a thousand miles of driving. The disconnected hose had a little sand in it, my mechanic said that was most likely my original problem. There was never a small evap leak above my gas tank that needed 10 hours of repair and a $900 bill. When I contacted premier, I received an email largely calling me a liar and saying that I was in fact the rude one. This came from the Vice President who said she secretly listened in on my phone calls when I was at a gas station crying and yelling over my broken car. The Vice President listened in and did NOTHING to help the situation. They have offered me no explanation as to what happened but instead accused me of defamation. I have evidence to support all of my claims including pictures, paperwork of my warranty and their description of what was wrong with my car, the cap that was used to cap off the hose, receipts of the gas stations I went to back to back to back, and a receipt of the gas station just after the second mechanic fixed the hose. They're trying to discredit my claims by stating the falsified information below so that they can get my review removed. read more

This is only the second new car I've ever purchased, the first being a Jeep Wrangler. However, I visited a couple different dealerships looking for a Subaru before ultimately deciding on Premier. None of them, were up to par with dealership. Not even close. My salesperson Rachel, and the entire staff was beyond accommodating and made the whole process(which can be very stressful because a car is a big purchase) quite painless. The car I wanted was fairly difficult to come by, so I was going to have to special order it from Subaru, but they went above and beyond to find me the car I was looking for. We ran into a few different snags along the way, but everything was handled professionally and with top tier customer service and everything was made right. I know that if I should to decide on another Subaru for my next car, I will be coming here again. The whole staff, from service, sales, management and finance is absolutely stellar. read more

I was completely lied to about the condition of my car before I bought it. I was told the car was like 'new' and handed the car fax. A month later the rocker completely caved in through normal driving and rust was forming. When I called, turns out they knew the driver had been in an accident and blatantly lied to me when I asked if there had been any damage to the vehicle. When I asked for them to rectify the issue, it took several weeks and the issue was denied by the general manager and financial rep. I had to speak to the President who patronized me over the phone and treated me like garbage. In addition, he was only willing to give me a reduced price on the work that needed to be done. Shady, unprofessional service. Steer clear away from Premier when looking for honest business. read more

At first, my experience was good at Premier Subaru Watertown. I ordered a NEW 2015 Subaru Impreza Limited. It came in ALMOST perfect condition. It had a scratch in the rear window and a heavy chip on the edge of the door. I should of walked away from the car right then and there! Instead, I gave them a chance to fix it, and they hired some unprofessional cheap glass company that placed nicks and heavy chips in the paint in each corner of the new rear glass. The molding around the glass was wavy and unevenly set. There was window glue on the new paint. The door nick, they filled with a touch pen and didn't even blend it in (again, being cheap). I was offered no compensation for the troubles, mileage, gas and damages. Now, the only options I have are a repair by the same freaking lousy glass company and probably a cheap auto body company! or lose my hard earned money and sell it back and take a huge hit after only 2 weeks of ownership. They do not see it from the customers eyes, I ordered a new car, not a fixer upper. I've been putting mileage on a new car driving to the dealership just so they can see the unprofessional damages to tell me to come back for a future repair. After being on there premise, I noticed the staff (valet, and repair) doesn't care about their customer's cars. They drive them fast in and out of the repair zones. These are expensive vehicles, especially the new ones, and they don't care if they scratch your paint on there way out. So be careful and if you get your car repaired or services here (which I wouldn't), make sure you inspect it closely. I would not purchase a car from here, especially a new one because if you have any issues that are on their end, they will only offer you a repair (probably done from a lousy, cheap place) and don't care about the value your suppose to be receiving. read more

I honestly have to say this might just be the fastest and easiest car shopping and deal making I have ever had. I was in the market for a new-to-me used vehicle and decided to make the switch from Hondas to Subaru. I had found a great 2016 Subaru Impreza at a great price and was immensely surprised that Premier had a HealthCare Provider discount program - as a nurse, it was so great to not only get recognition but also a discount on top of what I felt was a great deal! I started with the sales/delivery specialist Eric who took me on the test drive and really went through all my questions about the vehicle and, even despite my research, made me aware of some features I hadn't been aware of and knew the answer to everything I asked about and if it was something he was slightly uncertain on, he did find out immediately for me and let me know. I then met with AJ to start the process of a deposit on the car and paperwork and he was very upfront and transparent with everything as well and never once did I feel I was getting misled. I met with Sherry the first day and then on my car delivery day for all the final financing and paperwork. She really is funny and a great sense of humor and took so much time with me going over every single possible option and coverage option, packages, etc. with me, making sure I understood them all and how it might help my particular situation. I never once felt pressured to take anything and was incredibly patient and for that I am grateful. Lastly, Darlene took the time to go over every feature inside the car and made sure my phone was connected and I understood how each feature works. First time purchasing a new car in 10 years and not a good experience. I have purchased all my previous cars from a fantastic Toyota dealership, but after totaling my vehicle in bad weather conditions I decided it was time to get in a Subaru. Booked an appointment with Premier in Watertown internet dept., but when I arrived they had no record of me speaking with anyone. First issue. However they accommodated me and set me up with a salesman. After test driving a Crosstrek and a Legacy, I was hooked on the Legacy. I stated I wanted all safety features, keyless entry, remote start, navigation, and all weather package. The Legacy I test drove had all but the keyless entry and I was perfectly OK with that. Upon arriving back into the office, I said I want it but just had to look at numbers and wait for insurance check. Original plan was to special order it in blue but it was 6-8 weeks and beyond my monthly price point. So they said how about that car right there you drove. It worked out with $3,000 down in right at $374 p/m. ($375 cut off for me). I leave a deposit and left waiting insurance check. After back and forth for 2+ weeks with insurance and Premier I set it up to pick up vehicle on Wed 2/7. Unfortunately the finance manager I worked with was out Wed. My deal all of a sudden was $385 a month with $3500 down. (I did add armor protection, but should not have jumped that much) Had no option to remove VIN etching or nitrogen in tires because "it was already done". After back and forth, I finally bit the bullet and said fine and signed. I came back an hour later to pick up the vehicle. During my walkthrough of the car by a very nice technician, I noticed no navigation in the car. This was NOT the car I test drove and put deposit on. I walked in and stated this to the salesman and sales manager. Their response was this was the car we priced out for you and navigation is an additional $1200-$1400. I just agreed to $10 more a month with more down and here they want to increase more. I simply stated I don't understand why this isn't the car I test drove and put a deposit on. At this point I am not dropping another $1000+ and having to wait to order a car. They showed me how to use Carplay and it seemed to be OK. My second mistake was settling that night as it was just about closing time. I then noticed no license plate bracket on the vehicle I agreed to during building the car. Salesman remembered that and wrote me up a "we owe". Clearly something was lost in what vehicle I drove, built and was priced. Next day driving I noticed if the phone is not plugged in with Carplay, phone navigation voice prompts do not work because of Bluetooth. If I turn Bluetooth off then I can't take calls via car. It was not want I wanted at all. Then as I remove the paper on top of the floor mats I noticed carpet mats, not the all weather package I agreed to during building. I immediately called and left a message with the finance manager and stated either he or sales manager need to call me back as I am incredibly unsatisfied. Almost 1 week later today and not a single call back. This was not the car I test drove, built and put a deposit on. Nobody is trying to resolve this with me. Nobody can explain to me why this isn't the car I test drove as the response was only "this is the car we priced out for you". I don't care what number you mistyped or what you did wrong, but I stated what I wanted and you presented numbers to me. After I sign and go through the car I get a well its going to be even more because we must have made a mistake. I am so unhappy. This vehicle is great, but now I feel like I am settling and it is not a good feeling. I can't find an email address for any manger beyond those I already spoke with. I see activity on here and hope I can get resolution. I almost want to trade the vehicle to a different Subaru and just purchase with them to avoid having to deal with this dealership.
