The basic exam fee is $124. I understand that the luxury of bringing your pet in on off-hours is definitely going to cost more than a regular pet. Oh wait, should that be regarded as a luxury? Veterinarians need to get paid. However this place should consider the fact that some animal people need their animals and already pay a lot of money on feeding them along with litter costs. Ask a No-kill animal shelter of Chicago. They take care of so many animals and really, who is going to adopt if the pet gets sick or hurt and no one is there to take care of their baby at an affordable cost, 24/7? What about those of us with just a crazy work schedule? I'm thinking $60 is reasonable. Don't be fooled. Their current admittance rate does not even include any tests that need to be run! I mean, my cat just needs some salve and probably a cone of shame. That's highway robbery. Alas, he must suffer because the rates of this institution. I'm not sorry for putting it this way either. As a doctor, even of animals, you're supposed to be doing it for the love of animals. Not to pay off the aspects of your lifestyle that you're currently overspending on; or on material goods you don't really need. I hope all of the pro-life no-kill animal shelter workers are ashamed of you. All around bad press regarding your fees. I am probably one of the most anxious pet owners one will ever meet especially with my dog having IBD, but Dr. Simpson has been wonderful with the diagnosis and treatment. My regular vet originally gave me the name of someone at MedVet, but I was able to get into Premier earlier and it seems to be working out nicely. I am of course saddened that my dog will have to be on medications for life, but Dr. Simpson has been wonderful with Sadie and is very responsive to all my thousands of questions. We have always been seen on time, which helps because we have a bit of a drive. We have been there for the ER once and I was very happy with Dr. Ritchie and pleased she backed her word and called me at 7am the following morning, so I could get Sadie before work. The only recommendation I would have is possibly an electronic medical system as because we are there so much, my paper file of Sadie's records are getting pretty thick! Not a deal breaker of course as I care more about the care for Sadie. read more

Thank goodness for Premier and their wonderful staff. My vet recommended them as my senior doggie needed urgent care. I truly appreciated the TLC we received during this stressful event. Their website is designed excellently with streamlined process that gives you the next available urgent appointment with enough time for you to get to their office. Once I arrived, they completed intake/triage over the phone. The tech came to pick up my doggie and called me to go over the care needed. After receiving fluids and antibiotics we were on the way home. Premier staff has excellent customer service and most importantly excellent medical care. read more

Premier was the third vet I visited in the span of four days to get a life-threatening dog emergency taken care of. Following a terrible experience waiting for over three hours at MedVet and dealing with their rude desk staff, absurd waiting in line policies and uncomfortable waiting room, I was able to contact Premier, arrive and actually see a vet within 30 mins. After that, my dog quickly got the additional tests needed and they were able to get him into surgery in just few hours. Dr. Aolei Chen helped diagnose and develop a treatment plan, and was both quick to understand the issue and clear in communicating the seriousness of the problem and details of the surgery. Dr. Daniel Jankovits was the surgeon that ultimately saved my dog's life - hat's off to you, good sir. Every technician and nurse I encountered was compassionate and understanding. Obviously emergency vets and surgeries are massively expensive, but I did not feel I was "overcharged" or taken advantage of in any way - in fact, they actually REFUNDED me some money after the surgery went smoother than expected and with less complications. Their financing program application was painless and straightforward, and they were tactful throughout as they explained the process. I realize I am among the lucky in that they were able to save my dog, but I can not say enough about the quality and professionalism exhibited at Premier. If your pet's life is on the line, this place is your best shot at saving them. read more

My dog had an eye infection and my normal vet was closed. My vet informed that if I really didn't want to wait then I can take my dog to Premier. First of all this place is very clean and the staff is very nice. The nurse was great and very friendly. The vet came in and right away my dog didn't like her. That should have been my first clue. My dog reluctantly lets her examine his eye. I'm thinking she's going to give him some drops and that will be the end of it. I was wrong. The vet decides that they want to run tests on my dog. One for glaucoma and another for an ulcer. I've had eye infections before and never needed to be tested for glaucoma. I've had other dogs with eye infections and they never needed tests done. The vet would give me drops and that would clear it up. Each test was around $50.00 a piece. So now I'm paying a little over $100.00 for the initial visit and now an additional $100.00 for two tests he doesn't need. The tests show nothing. They prescribe him the drops. I pay my $240.00 bill when the nurse decides my dog needs a cone so he doesn't scratch his eye. She wants to charge me additional $20.00 for the cone. I declined the cone. My dog's eye is clearing up and the drops are doing their job. I guess that's all that matters. Just be aware if you bring your pet here you're going to spend a lot of money on tests that aren't really needed. read more

After months of thought I finally decided to write this review. I called Premier Chicago and asked to speak to a nurse. The lady who answered said her name was Jeanne. I explained to her my dogs symptoms which he was having diarrhea and vomiting she said to withhold food for the next few hours. She stated the ER was busy and had a long wait time. I called her back an hour later and said my puppy was very lethargic. She asked if he had vomited again and I said no. She told me he should be fine and give him more time. And acted like I was bothering her. An hour later my beloved puppy passed away. Why would you have uncompassionate cold hearted people working there. When I called back to find about cremation she was not Empathetic. Do not take your pet to Premier there staff is uneducated seems bothered when you call. My puppy suffered because of her negligence. read more

we took our very sick dog here for emergency care. She unfortunately was hospitalized and then had to be euthanized. I was very pleased with the professionalism and compassion of the staff and the veterinarians. This was such a sad time for me and my family, but Premiere really made it a lot easier. The front desk staff were very professional and helpful. The hospital was very clean and comfortable. Location is really good too. I hope I will not have to return under my recent circumstances, but I know that I will not hesitate to come back. read more

I hate Emergency Vets. Hate Them!!!.... out of all of them, THEY ARE THE WORST (okay, I'm kidding....I just don't want other pet owners to find the best ER Vet in the city and lengthen my future wait times :) . If you are reading this, I assume your loved one is sick and you are trying to determine if you can trust Premier on Belmont with your loved one.... Quick Answer? ..... Y E S Unfortunately I spent over 20 hours here in the last week - and I have no complaints.... well - besides the fact that it took a couple hours, on several occasions, for my furbaby to see a doctor - I have no complaints.... BUT.. all of the "delays" were a result of more serious cases coming in - so, when if I'm ever a "more serious case" I'll appreciate getting preference... Seriously though - I've been to many ER Vets (I have a 4lb Teacup Yorkie and "everything" is an "emergency" when you have a toy breed". My former ER Vet was at Western/Belmont (don't want to mention names as they are good "people" too.... But... I'll simply say I found my new "go to". When they charged for services (down payment) that wasn't needed they promptly refunded. When there was a delay they promptly explained and apologized. Sigh......if your furbaby is sick.... PLEASE take them here. I trust them enough that if your loved one gets in before mine..... it's because yours needs more attention... and mine will be fine. Thanks so much Premier for your love, help, and medicine to bring Elston back to normal! You guys are amazing! As an aside - the last vet that looked at Elston; I am in love with you! So, about 10 days ago I brought my kitty to her regular vet. She was vomiting, not eating much, & had lost considerable weight. They found her liver was in bad shape, but if I could get her to eat she could recover. After 2 days of fluids & anti-nausea shots, things seemed to be calming down. Then, after midnight Saturday, 4 days later, she got really sick. The vet had indicated that the vomitting should be over and if it came back, it was a problem. Oh, it came back. It came back with a vengeance. It was Sunday, so an emergency vet was my only option. After researching on Yelp through my tears, I found AETC. When I brought her in, the woman at reception greeted me & called a nurse. The nurse came out & spoke to me briefly. I gave her the synopsis of the previous week, culminating in the morning's puke-a-thon. She seemed a little indifferent to my plight and said something along the lines of "Well, she's not coding and we have a critical patient right now." She said someone would be with me soon. An hour and a half later I was shown to an exam room where I explained everything to a new nurse before she exited, saying the vet would be in soon. Fifteen minutes later he arrived. He was very nice, & the only vet I saw talking to anyone during my 3 hour visit. They are apparently a little short staffed. In any case, over the next hour plus he got her an ultrasound & found she had pancreatitis, which is likely behind the liver problems & vomitting. He gave her some subQ fluids & anti-nausea, then we were on our way. They forwarded all the results to my vet so they'd have them when we went in, which was great. I have to note that this exam room is super uncomfortable. There's a bench that's so narrow that if you sit down, you have to sit straight up against the wall. They have people waiting a while. Buy a chair! It was also kind of dirty. I always worry that sick animals have contact with things that don't get cleaned before my animal comes into contact with them. It looked like there was a feces smear on the windowsill. Overall, it's fine if you need an emergency vet, but don't expect to be out of there quickly or cheaply (my visit was over $500). And bring some disinfectant wipes. read more

I brought my cat in for what turned out to be an emergency endoscopy after swallowing a sharp object. The staff was professional, compassionate, worked quickly and did a good job setting expectations for the procedure and experience at-large. Even though my visit was between the exhausting hours of 10 PM and 4 AM, and they all brought their A-game. At one point, I was tearing up in the waiting area and the receptionist kindly came to check on me and brought a box of tissues. Dr. Owens was wonderful, too. She was so kind, caring and comforting. She was honest about the situation and didn't sugarcoat any of the details, but still managed to make me feel comforted, secure, and confident about the situation at hand. As frightened as I was, I knew I was leaving my pet in good hands. Huge thank you to her and the staff that saved my cat's life. read more

This has to be the best emergency clinic I have ever been to. From friendly staff, to effective work and support this place was great. The prices weren't INSANE like I was expecting but actually pretty average. I definitely recommend coming here over any other place ESPECIALLY blue pearl. I have only had issues at blue pearl they are truly awful especially if you compare them to premier. Came here for my dog who ended up having a herniated disc the doctor and nurses were absolutely awesome and talked me through everything and were extremely patient, supportive, and honest. God forbid I need emergency care again, but if I do I will choose premier every time. read more

All they were supposed to be doing is monitoring him overnight and He came out with darker bruising then he went in with. Then when I first brought him in the vet tech roughly picked him up by his scruff. I'm so happy he had no procedures done at this location because I have no trust in them just off of the way they were handling him while he was still in my sight so I know for a fact when I left he wasn't being properly treated and he smelled really bad when I picked him up. They also clipped his claws down without my consent. They didn't even clean the site of where he got surgery at it was so much dried up blood right there it was disgusting. I brought my very sick doggy in on Friday at 1:30 am in the morning and he ended up staying until Sunday at 7:00 pm . Here's what I loved: 1. Every time I called they were responsive and the Vet, if not immediately available, called right back. I got up to date info from people who knew what was going on with my pet. 2. Compassionate, empathetic, caring, dog people. I don't know what else to say - they were caring and thoughtful. 3. My regular Vet from PetsFirst (Dr. Mitchell - who I think the world of) gave them high marks, had already been sent a report, concurred with their whole approach. 4. The animals in back looked attended to, clean, and cared for. 5. 24 hr. - close to home . 6. ( saying again because I think this matters so much.) Compassionate, empathetic, caring, dog people. I didn't love my experience with Premier Veterinary Group a few months back, and have now, thankfully, found a better emergency vet location. (So it feels safe to write this review!) My dog was having stomach problems, which, granted, can be a little difficult to figure out. She eats things she shouldn't and always has. After an appointment at our regular vet didn't go very well, I was told to rush her straight here. I drove like a crazy person and when we got here, we waited over an hour and a half -- even though the vet had called ahead. Like, what? How is that how emergencies are treated? Their waiting room was completely empty and it sort of baffled me. The worst though? My dog ended up being hospitalized overnight and right as we walked out the door the next day, she got majorly sick on the front patch of grass. Like, blood and everything. Did they do anything here?! I ran back inside, concerned, and was told "that's normal." The front desk staff barely looked at me and wouldn't allow me to speak with the vet. Thousands of dollars later, my dog seemed just as sick as when she'd come in. For me, it's never about the money or time. My cat Cougie had a big time emergency and the staff saved his life by administering CPR for 5 minutes! The around the clock level of care was impressive. I appreciated the high level of communication as well. I was called often with updates and was able to stop in and visit each day. The doctors and staff showed great care and empathy for Cougie. It was impressive the amount of docs/nurses they had on staff and all of them very familiar with Cougie. After 2 days in critical care, Cougie was ready to come home and has pretty much bounced back to normal. Thank you PVG for making a terrible moment much easier for me and Cougie! read more

My recent experience with someone over the phone left the worst impression and it just shows me they really do not care about your pet, however, they do care about the money in your pocket. I understand people need to be paid for their services, but a little compassion over the phone wouldn't kill them. After a month long battle with an infection and close to $900 spent in fees/meds that did not help my dog. My vet suggested I take my dog to the ER. My concern for the well being of my dog along with concern of how much this was going to cost as I have already spent $900 with no resolution. I was given a quote of close to $1000. I asked if there was any other payment options, was told "no" I was also told "sometimes we have to choose between having groceries for the month, or taking care of our fur babies" I'm at a complete loss for words. That's just a disgusting thing to say to someone. She then referred me to VEG because "they don't care about payment" I wasn't looking for free services I was looking for options and someone with some compassion, but most of all I was looking for some help for my sweet girl. Within the past year, I have had to take two of my dogs to Premier. The first time when my dog was having seizures, and most recently this past week when my dog had diarrhea that wasn't clearing up. Both visits were good experiences. I felt the doctors listened to my concerns and each time came up with reasonable treatment plans. Unfortunately, what we tried for our first dog, Gooey, did not work, so we had to send him over the Rainbow Bridge. I'm happy we did that at Premier. Staff was very caring, especially the doctor who sat with us in the room and listened to us as we told stories about our little man. I appreciated that the room we were in was set up nicely and respectfully. I have had dogs my entire life, so I have made many trips to the vet and pet ERs over the years. The care and treatment my pets have received at Premier ranks at the top. I cannot say the same for other pet ERs in the area. read more

I strongly recommend better training for who is answering the phones here. I called at 9:45AM, described my dog's symptoms of kennel cough- they said to come in and that she needed an antibiotic. We drove home early from MI based on this advice, arrived at 2:30 (see call log), and checked our dog in. I called at 3:19, and was told that it would just be 30 more minutes and she was the next dog in line. We called back at 4:15- and were told that it was a mixup- and it would be another 2.5-3 hour wait (on top of the almost 2 hours we waited). We left and went to another ER- complete waste of time while our dog was coughing and sick. read more

The front desk and nursing staff was very helpful and professional. Dr. Ryan Bookstaff was excellent. He explained everything that was going on, what was needed going forward with various treatments and was very up front about cost considerations. Unfortunately we had to put Marco down. Through that heartbreaking process Dr. Bookstaff was exceptionally kind, compassionate, understanding and professional. Though the outcome was not what we wished, we would highly recommend Premier Vet and Dr. Bookstaff. We will chose them again in case of any other emergency. read more

This is the best cat hospital I have ever been to, my cat was beaten up by another cat and I needed to find a place thanks to google it wasn't hard I went in and was treated very nice the doctor came and took him right away I had told them i had a limit on how much I could spend (and I know it should be priceless to care for your animal) but we live in Chicago and everything is expensive so the doctor worked with me on things that needed to be done and I felt helped , I had taken my cat to be fixed and the last place told me it would run me about 1500$ since one of his man parts were still in him so he needed an operation. Well they lied this doctor told me they were both there one smaller than the other but both there . So, I'm about a year late in writing this review but I gave them *plenty of time* to respond to my emails. Picture it, Thanksgiving 2015. My puppy got into my senior dog's rimadyl and ate a 10x overdose. I live less than 10 minutes from Premier and caught him mid-chomp, so rushed him right over. I am very dog savvy... I am not a DVM but know overdosing on rimadyl is a BIG DEAL. LIFE THREATENING, KILL YOUR LIVER-type deal. They took Oliver right to the back, told us they would triage him and then come speak to us. Perfect. Half an hour or so later the tech comes out and said they got him to vomit but he swallowed it back up (HELLO WERE YOU NOT WATCHING HIM?). She was LAUGHING as she said this. The doctor (whose name I don't know, and wasn't listed on the paperwork) came in told us they were releasing him, here's a giant list of meds, strict time schedule to give them, have him checked at your regular vet tomorrow. I was aghast. I know enough to know he NEEDED to be hospitalized. He needed IVs and obviously a LOT of medication as that is what she was sending home with me. I told the doctor I wanted him hospitalized and she refused. She was so blase about everything that I thought maybe it was in my best interest to take him home. I followed up with my regular vet the next day, who told me to also come in 3 days later as that is when they generally start seeing issues related to rimadyl toxicity. Guess what? Three days later his liver values were so high my vet's machinery couldn't even read it. Off to a university vet hospital we went. Almost a week in the ICU, a few nights we honestly weren't sure he would survive and thousands of dollars later, he came home. The doctors who saw him were SHOCKED he was not immediately hospitalized for three- five days- the normal protocol for rimadyl toxicity. I emailed Premier about this and never received a peep back. I wasn't asking for money back (although that would have been nice, not going to lie), just an explanation or an apology. Barring an injury that would cause exanguination I will not be returning to Premier. read more

We first took our cat, Wallace, into Premier Veterinary Group on the Sunday following 4th of July. We were out of town that weekend and came home to him howling loudly, walking poorly, and not being himself in general. They fairly easily diagnosed him with a urinary blockage and placed a catheter and started him on fluids immediately upon us getting there. They noted that this was fairly common in male cats and we simply needed to wait for his kidney levels to go down and we could remove the cath and take him home shortly thereafter. We agreed to keep him there to receive treatment over the coming days. Over the course of the next 2 days Wallace's kidney values slowly began to come down closer to normal ranges. We were continually advised that nothing else was wrong with him despite the fact that when visiting him, he did not seem to be improving much at all. We also noted during one of our visits that urine was leaking from his catheter and we never received the results of his urinalysis, which we were initially told was important for diagnosing the reason for the blockage. None of these concerns seemed to be of paramount importance to the staff at Premier, so we continued along hoping his levels would return and we'd be able to take him home eventually. Upon further pressing, his urinalysis results were "found" and were negative, so additional testing was not pursued by the Vets. Wallace remained in the hospital for 4 days (3 nights) as his fluids were slow to return to normal. On his last day at Premier, we again noticed that his catheter was leaking pretty badly. Upon bringing this to the Vet's attention, the decision was made to pull the catheter. After monitoring him for a few more hours, they told us that it was safe to discharge him from the hospital and bring him home that night. Once we got him back, we noticed immediately that he was lethargic and very warm. He never urinated or ate once we brought him home, and never made an effort to eat in his 4 days at the hospital. Seeing how poorly he was doing, we brought him into our primary veterinarian the following morning. They quickly noted that he was blocked again and required further hospitalization. We immediately rushed Wallace to MedVet (on Clybourn) as we did not feel comfortable taking him back to Premier. There they placed an additional urinary catheter and also noted a temperature of 105 as well as a heart murmur that h had developed. His urine culture quickly showed what they referred to as a "raging bladder infection" and he was started on IV antibiotics. Within 24 hours of getting treatment at MedVet, our cat made a complete turnaround and was discharged in 2 days' time with no issues. Despite the folks at Premier all being very friendly, it is hard not to believe that our cat's care was handled poorly. There were multiple errors in his charting and his vitals were only noted twice in his records, despite having written in chart they should have been checked every 6 hours. Had they checked them, they may have noted a fever before discharge and treated him accordingly with simple antibiotics. We were also not made aware of the heart murmur which was actually noted in the paperwork we received after his stay. Instead we were alerted to it by our primary provider after his infection had gotten worse. We were charged nearly $4,000, only to be readmitted within 10 hours to a different hospital for a diagnosis that should have easily been discovered at Premier the first time. The fact of the matter is that Premier absolutely saved Wallace's life upon first bringing him in as they quickly responded to his blockage which was going on nearly 24 hours. That said, it cannot be ignored that in his 4 days at the Premier, he was not properly attended to and we were not being kept up to date on important factors impacting his health. Given the time and money we poured into his treatment, there is no way that we'd feel comfortable taking him back given the level of care he received. read more

Probably seems odd to give a vet 5 stars when your pet passed away, but the concern and the care was world class. Biggie developed a saddle thrombosis and my vet recommended Premier as a site with 24/7 care and surgery on site. Dr. Getty was amazing, she called twice to update me on his condition, provided alternatives we could try and was super proactive in trying to get him healed and home. Sadly, it didn't work and I had to kiss him goodbye, but I know he had the best possible care and they never stopped trying until the end. Amazing caring people, I'd recommend them highly! read more

Our family dog got very acutely sick in July. It is unlike her to be sick, so we took her in to a different vet. They diagnosed her with HGE & sent us home with her (despite my better judgment). She ended up passing away early the following morning, less than 20 hours after her first symptoms appeared. My first experience with Premier was taking her body in. They were compassionate, helpful, and empathetic... Let us have all the time we needed with her and explained all of the options they offered for cremation as that was the route we wanted to go. Fast forward 2 months later, my other dog began to exhibit the same symptoms that our other dog had. Given the prior circumstances, I immediately took him in to Premier because I did not want to take any chances. It was about 6 am, and we were helped quickly. Dr. Venhuizen was wonderful. Good vibes, listened, was understanding and empathetic, explained everything in detail and made sure that we understood everything that he was explaining. EXACTLY what I want in a doctor. Clare S. took my dog in the back for blood work and x-rays. Clare, you are an angel. My dog has always put up a little bit of a fight when he goes to the vet because he gets a bit anxious. He's also 80+ lbs and a strong boy, so that doesn't make anything any easier. He hates getting on the scale and he's not a fan of other tests, so I wasn't surprised when Clare relayed that to me. His anxiousness is enough to make someone lose their patience after some time. Clare never did. She was so sweet from beginning to end. I ended up keeping my dog overnight to ensure that he had the proper care and was receiving fluids. I also want to acknowledge who I believe her name is Erika at the front desk because every single time I called, and both times that I came in (to drop him off & pick him up), she was nothing but sweet and professional as well. While my dog was staying there overnight, I called a few times for updates and every single time I did, I was happily greeted on the other end and I never felt like I was being annoying for calling or for wanting an update multiple times a day. I got play-by-plays by the hour of his progress. I wish I knew the name of the nurse who discharged him and gave me all of the at-home instructions (if you are able to look that up please do and give her the recognition she deserves), because she too, was wonderful: very detailed, empathetic, explained all instructions, listened to me vent, etc. My boy has been home going on 2 days now and he is already looking and feeling so much better. Lastly, I want to acknowledge that the summary of the chart notes and the visit was unlike anything I've ever seen before in my previous experience of taking my animals to the vet. There are DETAILED descriptions of EVERY conversation I had, including my initial reason for coming in, updates for each time they checked in with me to confirm the next tests and that I had consented to them, etc. WOW! Going through what potentially I thought could have been another traumatic loss for our family again was something that I was not ready to do ... every single member of the staff at this location that I mentioned above helped to put my own nerves at ease during this time. So... you want honest? Here it is: January 24th 2020  my cat Precious(16yo) was in desperate need of Vet help. Due to the fact that she has had a thyroid issue for the last 5 years & years of meds had taken a terrible toll on her kidneys, stomach & heart. A day prior to the ER visit I had been in AZ attending my mother's funeral. I gave my cat all necessary meds and she was left alone with food and water for about 48hrs. I had noone to come and be with her. However, she has been alone over a weekend (with all necessities) before and was ok. Nonetheless  I guess the stress of her being alone this time, spun things out of control. When I came back she was in complete distress. Found her hiding in a litter box, she wouldn't eat, she had low temp. super weak, lethargic. She wouldn't eat but wouldn't stop drinking water. Over the period of few hours (after my getting home) she got wobbly and soon couldn't/wouldn't stand up off the ground. That's when I knew it was ER time (@midnight). And this is how I found this place... Now, If I could scream, you'd hear: STAY AWAY!!!!! If you have any other option, (which I should've looked for, but the situation was desperate, so I just ran to the first place I found), ***please go elsewhere*** WHAT happened? I brought her over around 1am 01.24/25.2020.  Eventually, a Dr/Vet  came and upon suggestion, stated that the partial lab (couldn't do full because of P being dehydrated and had little blood volume) showed "complete kidney failure", heart murmur 3/6 (which I knew about, she's had it since little), very low temp., she was therefore being diagnosed "chronic anorexic", so she developed/bloodwork showed Lactic Acidosis. After all this, the Dr/Vet stated that there is NOTHING ELSE they can and would be NOT inclined to do anything else, upon which I was advised that "it's time" to euthanize Precious due to the many issues going on & her age being another deciding factor. When I asked how long do we have If I do not euthanize my cat I was told that there is most likely "days left".  Shattered, confused and in disbelief I said I wanted to talk with my reg. Vet in the am and "take it from there" upon which she (the ER Vet) recommended initial supervised hospitalization and  syringe feeding.  Aside from IV fluids NOTHING ELSE WAS DONE. I called every he to get a status. Each time I was told told she hasn't eaten, gone to the bathroom or moved at all. That she just sits in the corner. I asked about the strange feeding, they said it's impossible... (!?) So, I drove back there like my tires were on fire. My cat was released and at home 4hrs later.  In the am my reg. Vet said that he agrees that she is hospitalized (based on records sent from PVG) but he doesn't provide such service, especially with the weekend coming. He suggested going back to PVG to have Precious hospitalized and get necessary help. I couldn't believe that after a decade of caring for an animal this is what it came down to. Mind you he is 5miles away... Shame!!! I didnt go back. After about 6 hours of searching, calling, begging and crying I've found a saint of a Vet, who came to my house, from miles away! Several times... We proceeded with minute doses of necessary meds (steroids(ibs), diuretics(kidneys,heart), hormone (thyroid),pain meds(Just 3 days)) and... Today is a little over a year. My cat is alive. Doing well. At 6.4lb! 17yo and counting. So. There goes the "it's time" diagnosis. There go my shady charade of a vet. And not to mention this place... Thus place is a hell-hole and people "Veterinarians" working there are plain butchers... NO CONSCIENCE! Quick & easy $$ no prob. But when it comes to GENUINE care you will NOT find it there. And!!! They bank on your distress: bloodwork, xrays, overnight stay, supposed "supervision", ultrasound, meds & on & on...(+$4k!) all that and I would end up with a dead animal!!! I guess they ran out of things to do/charge The "doctors" there are a cardinal offense to the profession. Shame. Disgusting and despicable shame. Again. IF YOU CAN STAY AWAY. read more

We had a horrible experience. Don't go here if your pup is bleeding and needs urgent care. They took our dog and said they would give her pain meds while we waited an hour and a half for a vet. After An hour and a half they had isolated our scared, bleeding dog, gave her no meds. And when we asked we were told it would be a while longer. I don't believe they even had a vet on the premises. And the place was empty. It was a nightmare for our dog and for us. We took our injured dog and went to a different emergency vet on North Ave and had a much better experience. read more

Oh my gosh. I am shocked, back again for a foster kitty. The organization I'm working with chose this place, I forgot that I'd been here until I pulled up. Where the heck did they find the front desk attendees? I watched for 45 minutes as one of them, the middle aged woman with cheaply died red hair, treated patients come and go like absolutely crap. People brought in their dead animals and she spoke to them like they were worthless. The looks she gave people were outrageous. Lost my business, and as an experience foster / adopter, I'll be warning folks about this place. Again - go to another emergency place, medvet is great place around the corner. read more

ZERO STARS This place is the worst. I came here cause there was no other place open 24hours. If it wasn't an emergency I wouldn't of came here. This place has no compassion for animals. All the vets look like they had it with their profession. Listen "Vets" if you don't wanna be a Vet then why the hell did you go to school for it?! Oh yeah, you saw the money it will provide you. This place will try to gauge every penny possible with little to no care for your furry family member. The money wasn't the issue. I would gladly pay $10k if my dog needed it. But its the NO ATTENTION to any of the symptoms happening right IN THE ROOM!!!! My dog is ok because as soon as other Vets opened I left this place with my Dog IMMEDIATELY to seek help from a real professional. read more

I can't say enough about how great my experience at Premier was. I brought my dog in in the middle of the night and he ended up needing emergency surgery for bloat. It was so so scary but every nurse and doctor I spoke to was incredibly empathetic and had the best bedside manner. You don't always get that in an emergency scenario but that's the time you really need it and they were so great. Dr. Hubaker and many others took great care of my dog and I'm so grateful. Even during covid times, they were able to take great care of my dog and keep me informed. read more

I called premier after a horrible incident at Medvet, and the receptionist Barb was kind and answered all of my questions and concerns. Turns out I didn't need to bring her in, but I would definitely return to Premier over medvet any day, as medvet was rude and insensitive and incompetent. A little customer service goes a long way, if you're reading this Premier, give barb my thanks, we will return to you in the future if needed. read more

It all started on a Saturday when my 5 year old cat Panthro started acting very lethargic and stopped eating. He didn't even have the energy to get up off of the sofa to vomit. He's had a few two-day issues in the past that eventually clearing up on its own. So I decided to give it the weekend to see if he would improve. Sadly, he didn't so I took him to VCA Animal Hospital at Elston and Addison first thing on Monday. They took an x-ray to check for foreign bodies and a blood test. The former came up clean but the latter showed his creatinine level were slightly elevated. They recommended that I immediately take him over to an ER that had an MRI machine to take a look at his kidneys. They gave me a couple ER names, one of which was Premier Veterinary Group. I waited for about 20 minutes in the waiting room at Premier. I brought Panthro into the exam room where he was looked and then taken for an MRI. The results showed an abnormality with the kidneys. I was told he'd be put on IV fluids and that his kidney levels would be retested the following day. I came back in the evening to visit him. It was there that I first noticed his trouble swallowing. The following day I was called with updated kidney levels and his creatinine levels had increased. I was told this was indicative of acute renal failure and that these numbers need to start declining soon or his prognosis is not good. I went to visit Panthro that day. His swallowing had worsened and he developed a cough and had started wheezing. This is when I asked the doctor if it's possible he had chronic kidney disease (the not good but manageable alternative to acute) and that a bacterial respiratory infection has affected his already compromised kidneys. She said it was possible but highly unlikely. She asked if he had gotten into anything poisonous like lilies or pesticide. I didn't remember that happening but that didn't stop me from thinking about how I potentially killed my cat over the next 72 hours. The doctor told me there was nothing else she could do so she was transferring me to the internist and it would cost $75. The internist is at the hospital but they charged me $75 for as referral fee. Yes, there is a charge of $75 to be transferred from one of their doctors to another one of their doctors. The internist told me they will run a test to see if it's cancer and not acute renal failure and that the results would take a couple days to arrive. She told me she hopes it's cancer because that would be manageable with steroids. The following day, Wednesday, I went to visit Panthro. His creatinine levels had increased once again. His swallowing and breathing issues had worsened. I asked the internist that same question regarding the possibility of the respiratory infection. She said the blood test didn't indicate it (though that doesn't rule it out entirely) and the urine test indicated that there was not one in the urinary tract (unsure of one in the respiratory system). I asked if there was any harm in giving him an antibiotic at this point and she said it may compromise him in his current condition. Thursday is when I received the call from the internist that he did not have cancer and that their official diagnosis was acute renal failure. I went to the hospital where asked what my options were. The internist told me I could take him at that moment to a Buffalo Grove hospital where they could perform dialysis at a cost of around $10,000. It was no sure thing that would end up helping either. I then asked if I brought him home, is it possible his kidney numbers would start to drop without the stress of being in a hospital. She told me if I took him home that it would be "hospice" and my only goal would be to make him comfortable in his final days. I asked if there was anything else. She told me putting him to sleep was another option due to bleak prognosis. One last time, I asked if it would hurt trying to give him an antibiotic. She told me it wouldn't hurt but there was no point since it could not help. I went to my car to call my dad for help with the decision. I was sobbing uncontrollably and he told me to take him home and to take him to his vet in the morning. I went back inside where I informed the internist of my decision. I closed out the $4500 bill. I went to my dad's vet the following day where the doctor agreed there was no harm in giving a Panthro a shot of antibioitics. She gave him the shot and sent him home with hope for a miracle. The following night after not eating for eight days, Panthro went to the food bowl and took a bite. Slowly, day by day he got better and better, stronger and stronger. It took some time but 6 weeks after he was sent home to die by Premier Veterinary Group I can honestly say I wouldn't even be able to tell he was ever sick. I'm just happy I decided to take him home to "hospice" instead of putting him to sleep. read more

In case of emergency afterhours, Premier is fine. But if your pet has to stay overnight for tests, you are looking at a $3,000+ bill. I hope this money trickles down to the late night staff... They gave me my options but would not give any input as to what was necessary and what was not which was confusing. read more

The worst place to take your pet if they are very ill. My dog ended up dying after going here. They turned us away seeing she really needed help because we couldn't afford the $1000 plus for just testing, and then didn't even offer care credit, I didn't even know they had it until I left after the "bandaid" they put on my dog. They asked me how much I could afford, but not once recommended a life saving option of care credit. When I called later to say she had gotten worse, they apologized and said she sounds like she really needs help, maybe find a place that helps with your finances. Not once was care credit offered. not once. Now they are claiming they went over several treatment plans and oh well. Sorry for your loss. read more
