I wish I could give more stars. The quality of care at Premier Veterinary Group is jaw dropping. I've had to take my dog for a CT scan and to the ER at Premier and both experiences were seamless. Each time, I was assured that the staff at the front desk was only a phone call away. I always received a call from either a nurse or a vet within 10 minutes of calling them. Spent a long time in the parking lot (COVID style) to have my cat seen because his right face had swollen up so badly his eye was shut. It was so worth it though. The ER vet was very thoughtful about what was going on with him and decided that an abscessed tooth was the most likely culprit. She debated how to treat it until he could have surgery, wanting to be very sure that whatever she gave him did not cause more upset by an expiring contraindication with a steroidal non-inflammatory he got two weeks ago for what was believed to be allergies. She talked to me twice, spending a lot of time on the phone and asking me for my thoughts, advising on meds being sent home, sending some pain meds in case we got into a bind over the weekend, etc. I did not feel rushed. She and others I spoke with demonstrated nothing but care. Hope to not have to go back but if I did, this would be the place. read more

My review is missing, from the day my dog died in May 2012, so I am writing again to emphatically warn everyone not to bring your pet here! I brought my dog Molly here and they said she needed immediate surgery after a freak accident. After surgery, we were sent home (after waiting for several hours) and never even saw a doctor. Mind you, she just had major surgery and I was begging to see a doctor because she needed more pain medicine. She was in so much pain that, despite them telling me she was fine when I called begging them to help her, I brought her back the next day. Sure enough, they told me that there was no hope and they put her to sleep. Through out this ordeal, I NEVER saw the same doctor and despite major surgery that cost over $7,000, no one helped us. This is the worst place possible. You only see technicians and a smary front desk person who constantly demands more money. They are dreadful and made the sudden loss of my dog beyond misery! I will start off by saying I am confident my dog received excellent care while she was there for a infection on her paw, I knew the exam cost was $99, and I knew there would be additional charges based on the treatment options presented to me. What I didn't expect was confusing fear tactics and being treated like a irresponsible pet owner! First we were asked a lot of questions about our dog, I understand it is important information, but the way they asked the implication to the questions seemed to be like "What do you mean you don't know when it started bleeding" Fee for being questioned and talked down to $10 That's right they charge you to ask you questions they need to treat your pet, seems like this would be part of the "exam" fee right? Exam fee is $99 but includes nothing - it just gets you in the door, no exam was done at all until possible treatment options were agreed, so we were presented with cost options between about $350 and $520. I decided to have my dogs paw shaved and cleaned seemed like a good place to start right, I mean you might think stuff that is necessary to do an examination would be included in the exam fee right? Not so, cost for cleaning and shaving paw $40. We explained that we did not have a lot of money and that we were overwhelmed by the options and we asked what would be the lowest cost and best result to treat the infection, and the response from the vet was "you have to decide for your self all I can do is give you the facts" (or something to that effect) I found the staff rude and short, there was no reason. they were not busy in fact we were the only clients they had. It seems caring for someones pet at an emergency facility has become an inconvenience for the veterinarians and staff here. Perhaps the should find careers with less human interaction. As a final insult to injury, as I was paying my bill with a bank card the women running the front desk slid my card in the machine with one hand and called the "health tech" on the phone with the other,.... waited....... to see my card was approved and said "you can bring "Penny" up now". (Penny my dog) To re-cap I was talked down, insulted, and treated like an irresponsible pet owner. I paid $278 to have my dogs paw shaved, cleaned, and a 5 day supply of antibiotics. read more

I'm forever grateful for the kind and compassionate care that was given to me and my darling cat, Percival. I found Percy almost lifeless, his head resting on his water bowl and hardly breathing when I came home from work. After a quick chat with my sis and bestie (both vet techs), they urged me to seek emergency care. Fortunately, Premier is super close. I wrapped Percy in a towel and we headed over. The second I walked in, they took my little baby Percival to assess. Sadly, it was determined that he had an obstruction and appeared to be in heart failure. We opted to humanely euthanize him. My sweet boy passed away gently in my arms. The very next day, I recieved a hand written card from the practice. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!!! They will kill your animal and not care how much pain your pet is in! My dog jumped to catch a toy and landed with her legs twisted. She could not move her back legs and was howling in pain so we rushed her in. They operated on her after telling me that it was her disc and she would have an 80% chance of recovery. The doctor was cold and unkind but I went ahead because the surgeon seemed good and understanding. However, he NEVER saw my dog again!!!! Every time I was there I never saw the same doctor and usually they only sent technicians to meet with us. My dog's pain was incredible and she was howling non stop both times that I visited her. They let me walk her to her cage both times that I was there because I explained that she had never been in one. After he surgery they put her in a cage in a back closet because, the technician told me, her non-stop sobbing was bothering them and the other animals. They didn't give her more pain medicine. I was so shocked I tried to take her home but they said I had to wait a day for a doctor to see her. I came back the next day and waited two hours to see the doctor. Instead they finally sent in a technician. Molly was still in pain and now had brown spots in her urine. I pointed out that she had an infection and so they gave me an anti biotic. I begged them to giver her more pain killers because she was still sobbing non stop. They told me she wouldn't get another shot or patch for four more days and would be fine. We went home and she continued to suffer and cry non stop. She still couldn't move and started trying to bite she was so upset. I called and emailed the doctors for two more days before they let me come back to see a doctor while acting like I was difficult for begging for help for my dog who had just had major surgery. When the doctor finally saw her he even said that she had deteriorated and that nothing could be done. to help her. So, after an agonizing 5 days, they put my dog to sleep. Everything about the experience was horrible. While the place looks professional and clean it is a horror show with people who should never be allowed near your best friend. They are cold, you never see the same doctor doctor (and usually only see a TECHNICIAN!) your animal is left in a cage and they are constantly demanding more and more money and they always demand it immediately. This brutal experience cost over $7,000.00 and my dog suffered an excruciating drawn out death without compassion or sympathy. I can not warn you enough not to entrust your best friend to this McDonald's of Animal Hospitals. But, then again, even the employees at McDonald's would be more sensitive to such heart wrenching pain. NEVER go near this place if you love your dog or cat! UPDATE - It has been one month since Molly's accident and the most difficult part for me is how horrible her end was because I brought her here. I hate what she went through. And, how cold they are. They only want money, lots of money. I also think that the review are rigged! I noticed that a review, posted after mine, suddenly jumped ahead of my negative one. DO NOT GO HERE!!!! This is the best emergency center I have been too. Our dog was sick and it was over a weekend and we had to take him here for fluids and an ultrasound. Long story short, although he couldn't be saved, I am grateful for the kindness of the doctors and staff of AETC. Thank god. If we weren't treated as well and kindly as we were the whole situation would have been unbearable. It was already a horrible situation, worst of my life, but they were so supportive. They really were so kind, gave us as much time with our beloved dog as we wanted. Never were we rushed or anything. They even remembered us when we went back to pick up his ashes. I hope no one ever has to go through what we did, but we were so incredibly grateful to the AETC for being so awesome. read more

Sadly I had to visit this ER today when my dog unexpectedly got super sick in a life threatening way. My dog was very weak and lethargic with trouble breathing. Being an 80 pound dog they took him out on a stretcher right to the back. He didn't make it minutes from us being there, but I am so happy I took him here. They are very professional and caring and made this very tough time easier. The doctor made us feel okay about what happened. He ended up having a blood vessel cancer that was unknown to us and shows very little symptoms until it's too late. The doctor made us feel okay that it could not of been prevented and he did not suffer. The facility is new and clean and again the staff was amazing. They even give a clay paw print after he passed which is a wonderful memory. Rest in peace to my sweet boy. Thank you for taking the best care of him in his final minutes. read more

Very Friendly Staff Clean Funny Vet Ample Parking My dog got into the garbage yesterday and after a few hours she wasn't looking so good. Our normal vet was about to close and referred us to this 24 hr place. My vet called them to let them know we were on our way with a case of "garbage ingestion". The staff were super friendly and explained all procedures & costs to us. They were able to make my garbage eater barf in a bucket & gave her fluids under the skin without totally traumatizing the poor dog, which is sort of a miracle in itself. My boyfriend and I both tried to make her drink some hydrogen peroxide at home before going to AETC and both walked away with injuries and a dog that now has an aversion to suspicious bowls of clear fluid with treats floating in it. I was highly satisfied with this place. Of course, please visit your regular daytime vet if necessary to avoid the $99 fee to just be seen (the daytime vet is generally cheaper). But in a pinch, I would totally recommend AETC. They even faxed a report back to my regular vet so it could be added to my dog's file. Nice move! Oh, yeah... they even have coffee & tea and are more than willing to let you channel surf their big screen. read more

This is a good place to go for emergencies if you can not get to your regular vet. That being said, their treatment is very limited. It is good if your pet has eaten the wrong foods, has a cut, an accident, needs fluids, is unresponsive, or worse case scenario, needs to be humanely relieved of it's pain. This is not the place to go if you need a specialist, xrays, or mris. It really is for emergencies only. They were not able to help find a remedy for my dog's situation, nor did they offer him pain killers or anitinflammatories. They weren't even able to diagnose what was wrong with my dog. A visit starts at only $99 which I think is extremely fair and low for an emergency visit. I was not pleased however when I learned that they chose to double dose my dog to sedate him because they feared him, and they did not offer him any antiinflammatories or pain killers. They did not perform any blood tests and they could not do xrays. All that they could suggest was to see a specialist. Our bill was $300 for the visit with no diagnosis or remedy to ease his situation and make him more comfortable. The bulk of the fee was sedation. My husband told me that they were compassionate and apologetic that they could not help, I can not help but feel a bit peeved. I wanted answers, and all I received was a sedated dog and am now $300 poorer. read more

We came in Spring 2016 because our dog was bitten by a bulldog in our neighborhood one evening. This is the closest emergency care to us, and the facility is very new and clean. However, my rating is based on the quality of care. The staff was very friendly toward us. I would have thought they were great except for two major things: 1. Our dog was bitten on her front leg. I could only see one tooth puncture wound because of her coat, but logically, there should have been an exit wound as well. The staff explained that but couldn't find the exit wound. The next day I found the wound myself and had to bring my dog back in to get it checked out. They should have looked harder for the second wound. 2. I think they were aggressive in handling our dog because she is now terrified of all vets. She used to love going to the vet. When we first came in, she was obviously worked up after being attacked by another dog, but she was still willing to see the vet. They took her to a back room to get her wound cleaned up, but after that she was shaking hard and tail tucked under. Now when we go to our regular vet, she is nervous around the vets and tries to bolt out the door right away. If my dog has a real emergency again, I will look for another practice. In instances where we could wait until morning to go to our regular vet, we have always opted to do so. read more

I cannot say enough good things about our experience here. My Lu had some serious stones in his bladder and his urethra. My primary vet attempted to get them out, but he could not. My vet recommended me to a different emergency vet for the surgery, but I was not very happy with the service there AND they quoted me $3,500 for the surgery, which seemed very high. I read good reviews of AETC on Yelp, so I called them. I was quoted $2,000-2,500 for the surgery, which was a better price. Lu and I met with Dr. Wolf and her surgical assistant. They were both extremely kind and explained every possible outcome for the surgery. After explaining the outcome possibilities, they worked out an estimate for me with the minimum cost and the maximum cost. They explained line-by-line what each expense would be and what could cause it to vary. After Lu's exam and my explanation, I left Lu with them and I paid the minimum cost from the estimate. I felt so comfortable leaving him with them and that meant so much to me. Dr. Wolf called me right after the surgery to say that everything had gone perfectly. I also called twice to check on Lu during the 36 hours that he was at AETC. Both times, I was able to talk to his nurse, who was able to tell me how he was doing. When I picked him up, a nurse sat with me to explain aftercare and the dosing and purpose of Lu's medications. I only had to pay about $150 more at pick-up, which means that the surgery cost was on the low end of their estimate. They also clipped his nails nice and short while he was under--top notch! It has been four days since the surgery and Lu is doing great. Actually, he was back to his old self the day after we got him home. (He was a little woozy at first, but still okay.) I know this is a super-long review, but I really appreciated finding detailed reviews when I was looking for a surgeon for Luca. And, having gone to AETC now, I will absolutely go back if, God forbid, Luca needs surgery or emergency care again. read more

You never want to have to bring your dog to an emergency room, but Premier and Dr. Parkins took excellent care of my 80 pound buddy and turned an otherwise bad situation into a positive experience. We were there because two of the wound's from a surgery (at another vet) three days earlier had opened - definitely not something you would expect after a ridiculously expensive procedure. The doctor was not only professional when looking at the work of the other vet, but was caring and compassionate about the situation. I feel that he only did the necessary work, charged much more reasonably than I expected, and the two wounds look significantly better than they did even before opening. It's an emergency facility. As such, expect to wait a bit when it's busy and expect it to be a bit more expensive than a routine trip to a vet. That said, BOTH of these potential issues were much, much, much less than expected and, for the level of care I feel we received, not even an issue. For possibly the FIRST time in 25 years of dog companionship, I actually feel like it was a bargain. While I obviously hope to never have to go back (sorry!), it's comforting to know that such high-quality care is right around the corner, 24/7. (For some reason, my review says I live in San Francisco?? Nope, I'm literally 4 or 5 blocks from this vet.) read more

Took my cat here because he had bladder stones and was peeing blood- obvious emergency. When I arrived they diagnosed the problem, told me the cost, and when I started trying to figure out how to pay the absurdly high bill, they informed me that if I didn't get the money together for full payment before the end of the day, they would be euthanizing my cat. Basically, they don't care at all about the well-being of any of the animals that come in. They care only for profit. I had an unfortunate need to use this Vet in an emergency. Not a great way to wake up on a Sunday at 4am- your dog yelping in pain and bleeding from their broken nail. My dog managed to rip his dew claw nail all the way off. My normal vet was closed and this is where the emergency service sent me. They were very conveniently located- only 6min away once I got a bandage on the paw to slow the bleeding. They were polite and professional despite the hour (normal for them I assume). Like any emergency room situation you had to wait for your turn, and your level of triage. After about an hour we were seen by the tech, and then shortly by the vet. My dog is very healthy, but fears vet offices, and being taken away to the back. They were very gentle, but had to ask to sedate him so they could work. In less than 30min they had him cleaned up and bandaged- had to remove the root- and in his cone of shame. Emergency service is usually about the double the price of a normal visit. This was reasonably priced with this in mind. Additionally they followed up the next day with my normal vet- which was a great added touch. These ladies were all very professional and I would defanetly use them again- hopefully under better circumstances! read more

I am surprised to see so many negative reviews on here, as many of these issues with paying for your pet are clearly stated when you get there. As a pet owner, you need to be prepared for these emergencies. I had a really wonderful experience at this place, even though I wasn't visiting in the greatest of moods. I brought in my little nugget last night because she had a nasty allergic reaction to shot she had gotten previously in the day. Her face had swollen up like crazy and being a new puppy owner, I was an absolute mess. They took her in right away and even though I thought it was weird that the receptionist told me the prices as she was whisking my puppy away, I am sure that's protocol-- as I bet a lot of people run in there without paying. They were super nice and informative about my little puppy's care. They came out to check on me and told us to stay a bit longer in the waiting room while her faced stopped swelling. I am only knocking down one star obviously because it was a little pricey, but a small price to pay for my best friend. Also, they didn't charge me an exam fee because I take her to Animal Ark! They sent over my records to our vet right away. Even watching the staff deal with other pets in there was very comforting, as I'm sure these vets/vet techs see some pretty crazy stuff in there. The staff is very nice, but be ready to wait 6 hours for a blood test, a little hydration and some take home instructions! I my puppy had a little bug like dehydration and soft stools.....it seems to be they try to find something wrong- the first tests came back fine so I don't like that they try to find some reason to keep pets overnight for observation, we can do that at home and comfort our pet, if pup not better tomorrow I could bring him to my vet, just seems too much for my liking. I spoke with someone who was initially very helpful and consulted the neurologist who wanted my dog seen through their ER This week. My partner and I rearranged our schedules a day later coordinating around the Needs of our other two dogs and two kids to get him in and signed up through the ER. When I reached out while heading out to take my dog in, they told me that the neurologist happened to be out that day, and that it was planned. So whoever I spoke to unfortunately blew my dogs chance at getting help since I called two other places that have neurologists and no one can get him in to see a neurologist anytime soon. I'm really disappointed since they seemed initially helpful but unfortunately they gave false information that caused us to miss the window for availability. If we had known the neurologist would be out today we would have just rearranged other things in our schedule to go yesterday. read more

I took my 9 month cat there last night around 1 am because my cat started to meow excessively. I let them know all about her symptoms and her behavior. They did blood work, sedation, put her on oxygen, gave her pain meds. They asked if I wanted to do X-rays 800$ and if so it might not show the problem with my cat. They stated after the X-ray we can do a mri which will cost 1000$. I was reluctant so I denied the service. They stated that they gave an extra pain medication to my cat that will cost more. They gave me gabapentin to take home. I left at 5 am not knowing what is wrong with my cat and them not answering any issues of my cat. Paid 290$ and no result. I came home and started doing research. Come to find that my cat was in her first heat cycle. I then purchased heat pads, assortment of cat nip, a heated blanket. Now my cat is doing better and the meowing is sustainable. Yes she's still meowing and rolling on the floor but now I understand more about her being in heat. I'm not understanding how they the professionals could not tell me this can possibly be the issue. I would of still pay them 300$ as long as my cat is under control and I understand what the issue is. Not happy at all with their service. I truly feel unsatisfied. read more

My dog Beau went to Premier for almost 4.5 years. In December 2016 he was diagnosed with an aggressive auto-immune disorder. Premier came up with the appropriate treatment plan to stabilize him in the short term and enabled his survival in the long term. Over the last 4.5 years he has relapsed three more times and frankly probably shouldn't have survived but Premier provided fantastic care. We primarily saw Dr. Simpson who was a wealth of knowledge but also very approachable and empathetic. She made me feel confident in the decisions I made about Beau's care and always made me feel assured I was doing what was best for him. All of the Technicians at Premier also showed my dog so much love - he got to know a lot of people there and while they probably say this to everyone, they truly made me feel like they had a soft spot for my little Beau. Unfortunately, this review is prompted by Beau passing away due to Kidney failure. I feel like we got 4.5 years out of him that we shouldn't have thanks to Premier's great care and I will be forever grateful. read more

My cat, Moses, was referred here by his regular veterinarian for an ultrasound and fine needle aspiration of a mass that was discovered in his abdomen. This isn't the sort of place you'd take your pet for wellness exams or vaccinations. The veterinary nurse/technician that triaged Moses had a cold demeanor and seemed rushed. They're probably a bit numbed by seeing horrible trauma and distraught pet parents, but a little bit of compassion and showing an interest in each individual should be a priority of anyone working in a medical practice. I explained that Moses had a lot of pain in his hind legs and was under a great deal of stress from a previous vet appointment that included x-rays, IV fluids, injections, etc. So, what does she do? She scoops him up, bending and squeezing his hind legs together, then is rough during her examination. On the other hand, Dr. Bob (the veterinarian) was excellent. He was very honest about my cat's prognosis, thorough with his explanations, and kindly answered all of my questions. He even took the time to show me my cat's ultrasound images, and was very detailed in explaining what we were seeing. I wouldn't expect him to offer a shoulder to cry on or be the face of comfort in a crisis, but he's very knowledgeable and gentle with his patients. The estimate I was given was spot on, so no issues there. I hope I don't find myself in a situation where I need to return anytime soon. I prefer the cheerful, personal service of Mo's regular vet. read more

The people that work here are all amazing. You can tell from the moment you walk in that they truly care about animals. My dog had gotten attacked so I of course was a mess. They stitched her up and had her back to me within a couple hours. The whole time we were there they were very helpful and explained everything that was going on, which is nice when something terrible happens to your pet. When my dog got discharged they had one of the vets or maybe it was an assistant come out and explain everything we needed to do to help our dog heal. The medication was separated and already completely ready for us to use. Very organized and the whole place looks very clean and professional. I took my cat to my regular vet-- Ace Hospital-- thinking she had an infection of some sort or the flu. She wasn't "sick" but lethargic and not herself. There were no obvious symptoms, but Ace did bloodwork and found her kidney levels were severe. Severe enough that they recommended AETC. I arrived there about 15 minutes later and they had already spoken to my vet and knew the situation. I personally was relieved it was a professional, clean facility and the staff were amazing. Very nice, attentive and seemed to really care about animals. When I met with the doctor, she gave me all of the necessary information about the condition, went over the estimated costs for treatment (which I knew was going to be high) and then she assured me they would take excellent care of my cat the next 48 hours while she was being treated there. I came back later to visit my cat and was amazed at how much better she was doing. I was expecting her to be stressed, frazzled-- but she wasn't. Although she was very sick, she was peaceful. I don't know the outcome-- I will find out tomorrow what her prognosis is once tests are back, but regardless I would bring my sick animal back here in a heartbeat!!! read more

I decided to take my cat here at 1 am because he wasn't eating, vomiting, very lethargic and was in constant pain. I didn't know to call first and showed up at the door where the receptionist took one look at my cat and told me to go back in my car and call, once I did she told me that since my cat basically wasn't actively dying (bleeding out or unconscious) they would only check my cats pulse and send me home and they couldn't do anything else for me and to just come back in the morning. Even though I was frantic over my cat she kept telling me the ER was busy and they had no time for a "stable" pet. I took him to another vet nearby where they told me he had kidney stones and a urinary blockage which is fatal in cats if left untreated. Don't come here unless your pet is bleeding to death, you'll waste your time. read more

Whoever answered the phone was really cold and basically just told me there was a 12 hour wait and to schedule online. Literally, nothing else. I am surprised to see poor reviews - maybe there are particular staff that contribute to this. My experience was the best i could hope for and covers two parts of the center. The first was taking my cat to see the cancer specialist for a more complete diagnosis. The nurse was great and the doctor was great too. Both explained and explained until i felt that i had a good understanding of what was going on and what to do. That was important since the choices were expensive treatment that could extend our cats life or palliative care. A huge deal with your considering this for a furry friend who is as much a part of the family as the humans are. We made the decision that chemotherapy was not going to be a good route and that we wanted to keep our cat comfortable until he passed. The nurse could tell we were distraught about this and sat with us and offered us advice, information and a clearer picture of how things would go and how to decide when he was too uncomfortable. I am very grateful for that. The second is that while i thought I had time to put my cat down on the weekend so we could spend more time with him, his condition got dramatically worse in the half day that i made the decision and appointment with our regular vet. At midnight my boyfriend and I realized that he was rapidly worsening and that it was time. I called AETC and they told me to come right in. It was the worst car ride and we were both trying to hold back tears, so when they escorted us to a private room as soon as we walked in, we appreciated it. The rest of the process was a blur but the nurse explained everything she could to us, took care of payment and any other business up front and let us have time more time with our cat. The vet was very compassionate and our little dude was kept very comfortable until he passed. If i have to take any future animals to an emergency center or specialist, i will return to AETC. read more

Don't take your pet to this establishment, if you could call it an establishment, the only thing is place is worried about, is how much money they're going to be able to scam you out of, it's HORRIBLE, they know you love your pet, it's a bad time you're scared for your pet's health, the only thing your thinking is please do something for my pet. They do not care about your pets at all, They had put on my credit card in less than 10 to 12 hours $3,000.00 they had her for those hours and did nothing but kept putting charges on my credit card, I finally insisted that I wanted my dog back at 10:00 a.m. and they were so unprofessional they dragged it along until 12:30 p.m. and Dr. Pratt, got on the phone and so terribly rude and unprofessional, telling me that they never want to see my dog again, don't come here etc., I will be more detailed when my heart will allow to speak on this, I'm still mourning and can't get my words out properly. Please there is a fabulous place on California and Roscoe, they're honest and upfront from the very beginning of everything and they're concern was with my dog. If you Love your pet please don't go here, go to Med Vet on California. The nurses and the doctors here are heaven sent! My pup Simba came down with a really bad case of pneumonia in his right lung, he was in the hospital for 7 days if that puts it into perspective. Needless to say as his pup parents, we were a wreck. Not only did all the doctors and nurses save Simba but they were there to comfort us during this worrisome time. Premiere Vet Group are not only extremely knowledgeable in their practices but you can actually see how much they truly love animals and what they do. It's such a comforting feeling when you can see the doctors and nurses love your pet as much as you do. I can say thank you a million times but it still would not be enough. Not sure where the five star ratings came from (great parking? Come on now.) but here is why I am giving it one star: My dog went here after a recommendation from the Oak and Clark Animal Hospital, who we have seen in the past with good results. Since this was an emergency due to waking up to her shaking, crying and with wheezy breathing, an ER was the best idea. After a long wait and an X-ray they advised that she get her throat scoped for a possible obstruction. This would have been fine and dandy if you could see more than just a little swelling in the X-ray, but there was no sign of any kind of object lodged in there. They went ahead and did the scope anyway, promising "she will be ready in an hour" but three hours later and no diagnosis caused some alarm. Got my pooch back with a predictable "we did not find anything" statement. And then came the up sell. It was suggested that she get tested for lupus, which is not exactly cheap and definitely not necessary. The only reason they suggested this (other than to get more money out of a distraught pet parent) is that she "has swelling". That is like amputating your foot because you have an ingrown toe nail or a tracheotomy because you coughed. That service was declined by the way. This also reminded me of when my wife took her cat in and was told she had cancer. They pushed very hard and made her feel bad for not going through with the very expensive chemo that would have only extended her life an additional week or two. Every cat owner that had a similar situation said the chemo did not help the quality of life for the cat. We just gave her tons of catnip, fish flakes and loving. In summation: be ready to be charged up the butt for services your animal does not need after being pressured by the pushy doctors because they know they can take advantage of distraught pet owners. read more

A few days ago I discovered that our dog, who has been a member of our family for over 10 years, was ill beyond help. She needed to be euthanized but one of my children was not home at the time we received this news from the dog's vet (portage park animal hospital). By the time my son would get home to say good-bye, the hospital would be closed. They referred us to Animal Emergency and Treatment Center. I can't say enough positive things about how kind and professional the staff was during this very somber time. They explained each step of the process and allowed us to be present while she was put down. It was heart breaking, but we needed to be with her. I was surprised and pleased by the service and attention we received. They even sent us a condolence card a couple of days afterward. Exceptional service in my opinion. read more

I am so grateful for the team that took care of my dog. I called late at night with an emergency and we were taken care of quickly. The staff were very kind and compassionate. My little guy kitty, George, was diagnosed this past November with intestinal cancer. We went to an oncology appointment with another specialty vet but weren't quite sure whether or not to pursue chemotherapy, so we turned to our trusted vets at Animal Care Clinic (Algonquin). Dr. Sharon made a call to her colleague Dr. Hintermeister at Premier Vet Group. Dr. Hintermeister was very through at the oncology appointment with my kitty and explained what medical approaches could be used, as well as how and why he would administer chemo differently than the other specialty vet. I feltl confident in his recommendations and made the decision that day to start chemo with Georgie. The cost is slightly cheaper than the other specialty vet, as it doesn't seem they nickel-and-dime here. He also told me I could schedule blood work with Dr. Sharon at our regular vet's office and, because of my work schedule conflicting with appointment availability, they permit early drop-offs and late pick-ups with no boarding charge. (Seriously awesome!) The staff is very nice both in the office and on the phone. George has had his second (of 6) treatments and so far is doing well. I feel very positive about his treatment, but I'm obviously keeping my fingers crossed for a continued good outcome! read more

Please, just go to MedVet. I wish I did. I can't change it now and my puppy is dead. I've been to MedVet with my dog before and they are terrific. I don't know why I went to Premier over MedVet. Thinking back on it, all I can say is that I was in such shock, my judgement was clouded. read more

Super nice and caring employees. Everyone was super sweet to our poor cat who suffered a broken jaw and tooth at his groomers.

My small chihuahua was attacked by a husky and it was Friday evening, so we needed to rush him to an animal hospital. My pup was in grave shape, and they took him in immediately, and were so gentle with him. The doctors and nurses kept me up to date on every step. They provided timelines that were accurate and impressively swift. They told me when they would call with updates, and they did, every time. I never felt at a loss, or not knowing what was going on or when I'd hear from them. My pup was in their care for 2 nights and they took extremely good care of him. When they needed a second look at X-rays to see if there was internal bleeding/organ damage they sent it them to the radiologist and quickly had an answer. My dog was severely hurt with broken ribs, one of which completely crushed, wounds and terrible damage to his tissues and muscles. The bill at the end was so extremely reasonable, I was shocked. Also, I called twice with follow up questions during his recovery and they made sure to connect me to a nurse or doctor and took the time to walk me through everything, which I am so incredible grateful for. The staff at this animal hospital literally saved his life and I can't thank them enough! read more

I took my dog there today and it was the worst experience. When I called they told me that I could be seen right away, so I took my dog there. When I got there I called the front desk to inform them that I had arrived with my dog, the receptionist told me that a nurse would be "right out" to see my dog. I was waiting in the parking lot for 20 minutes in 90 degree weather till I called back and the receptionist replied..."oh, the nurse hasn't been out there yet?" When the nurse came outside I was informed that the wait was an additional 3 hours max to see the doctor. She told me that if I left they'd call me in 2 hours, so I'd be able to drive back to see a doctor. 5 hours....I repeat 5 hours later I finally received a call. This place is the worst! I took my dog to get treated somewhere else during the wait. 5 HOURS!!!!!! read more
