I placed my first takeout order on Sunday and it won't be my last! I called around 6:30 and food was ready for pick up 6:55. We ordered the buttermilk chicken sandwich (son loved it), pulled pork platter (hubby wished there was more meat), crab cake entree (I loved it -- delicious and filling) and spicy Brussels sprouts (not spicy but more charred than I expected). Overall great tasting food and service...a bit pricy for takeout but comparable to other local restaurants. I look forward to trying other menu items, including dessert. read more

Honestly, I was really disappointed with this place. I had heard from many in the area that this was one of their favorite spots. I'm giving three stars because I actually really did like the cheesesteak egg roll, although I don't know why it was served in an absolute lake of sriracha Mayo? The pierogis were good as well, being served over caramelized onions and topped with scallions. I really enjoyed the flavor and texture of these. My fiancé ordered the roast beef panini sandwich, which was unbelievably dry. Like to the point where you got that feeling that you needed to drink water just to get it down. Wasn't even able to finish half of it. My chicken and egg sandwich was alright, but the egg served wasn't fully cooked to the over easy style considering it still had a slimy clear membrane layer on top that slid off as I picked it up. We ordered several different items on the menu and for the first time we ordered coffee... The coffee was amazing they even brought a package out to us so we could see what brand it was. I would recommend that people try this place at least once. It's good but not the greatest. It had a nice, modern, rustic feel to it. The staff were polite and courteous. I liked the idea that the desserts were on display when you first walked in. There was a little issue with privacy though, your conversation can be heard from everyone due to the size of the room and how easily the sound bounce off the walls. Banana Bread French Toast - 9/10 PROS: Tasted amazing, sweet but not too sweet. Walnuts added a nice crunch to the dish. Was generous with the s0yrup. CONS: Portion size not desirable, meant to enjoy the dish, not to get full by it. Sausage Egg & Cheese w/ Salted fries - 8/10 PROS: Tasted good, portion size for the price was decent. I read everyone else's reviews before trying this place and I'm happy to say I had the same experience as everyone else. The food was very good and fresh. The menu had a lot of the typical things you would expect like burgers and French onion soup which is nice if your not in adventurous mood but it also had a lot of unique dishes like the short rib pot pie with a caramelized butternut squash. It was delicious. My 16 year old son, who sometimes has trouble finding something he wants to eat, had the opposite problem here. It was my first time going there so I don't have anything to compare to but the entrees we had seemed more like lunch size portions then dinner but it could have just been the entrees we ordered. Both my son and I are pretty good eaters and we both wished we order an appetizer. My wife, who was not with us, wants to go back after hearing about our experience and seeing the menu so we will be going back soon. The place is reasonable priced considering it's Chester New Jersey. If your going for dinner don't go to late. I think they close at 8:00 pm. It's right off main street in a plaza of a few other businesses and there's plenty of parking. All in all it was pleasant experience. Food comes out super fast, love the decor and most importantly food was delicious. We had the kale salad (yum), tomato ricotta tart app, squashy pumpkin thingy (omfg--we ordered a second helping), chicken sam, a burger, mac n cheese, pulled pork hoagie, chicken fingers, and for dessert EPIC apple pie and black and white cake paired with FANTASTIC coffee. The owner came to chat and make sure we enjoyed everything. Loved hearing about their vision. My only suggestion would be that the drink selection from cold case wasn't fantastic and had no options for kids like organic milk/juice. Def needs that plus some fancy soda and more bougie stuff, not just coke and snapple. I feel like it did not match the food menu. Fresh pressed juices/lemonade would be great. Every bite was amazing! I was looking for comfort food and this place had great reviews. Just as the other reviews say everything was perfect. My family of 3 had a French onion soup, the meatloaf, chicken pot pie and buttermilk chicken fingers and for sides we got the Brussel Sprouts, carrots and butternut squash. Everything was so fresh and flavorful. Portion sizes were pretty good and the prices weren't too bad. My wife said the butter nut squash was the best she has ever had! Tried Pren after it was the first place to pop up on a google search for food near me. I have only been in the area once before and it was for a business meeting so I really was down for whatever good food suggested my way. Firstly I loved how hometowney it felt. The staff seemed like they were all friends in the same high school class, they helped each other when hands were full, said sweet goodbyes to staff that was leaving for the night, wore cute tshirts as a uniform. The place feels like a living room that got transformed into a restaurant. It was all decorated sweetly and they even have games for kids (and all others) to play while waiting for food. The food itself was good too! I got chicken fingers for an app, a burger for my meal, and then I tried their pumpkin tres leches for dessert. Some of what I was eyeing to order unfortunately was no longer available, which was a bummer. The chicken fingers reminded me a lot of Stickys Finger Joint. Not crispy, just kinda juicy, but their sauces made up for the lack of crisp. The bbq sauce they use is watery but tastes really great. Their fries were amazing, super thin but perfectly crisp and salted. Burger was pretty standard, they butter the bun which I personally am not a fan of but it tasted just fine nonetheless. However the clear winner of the meal was the pumpkin tres leches. I mean.... Seriously... one of the best things ever to grace my mouth. So so so good. I wish they had more options or at least didn't run out of options, and some of their menu items don't make sense to me. But I could just not be totally woke to some combinations that might be unexpected! Overall, atmosphere and staff was a 5/5, my meal was a 4/5, my dessert broke the scale. I can't say enough positive things about this gem. The food is always amazing, whether it is dine in, a family take-out meal or DESSERT. The atmosphere is cozy, I feel like I am in someone's home.
