Omg.. Let me start off by saying we ended up here from reviews on Yelp. We are from Jersey and wanted authentic southern bbq food while we were on our layover in Dallas heading home. This place is A MUST!! It's a great bar/restaurant that is down to earth and welcoming! Ian was our server. So personable and nice! He told us about the beers they offer and guided us in choosing a beer that we would love. We started out with the loaded cheese fries and the southwest egg rolls. I got a picture of the fries but the egg rolls were gone before I could get a picture. They were loaded with cheese and out of this world. For dinner one of us got the brisket burger, a brisket sandwich, and I got the brisket sliders. They were amazing! The BBQ sauce was on point and it's true what they say! Press box is a great hang out spot to drink and catch a game. It has tv's everywhere and the staff are very friendly. If you sit in the bar area during peak times though the service can be kind of slow but what do you expect when there's only 2 bartenders. I've never had to wait an unreasonable amount of time though and they always acknowledge your presence so that goes a long way with me. The food is good also. I've had the chili, egg rolls, quesadillas, and burger and haven't been disappointed yet. The food is reasonable prices and usually doesn't take long to come out. The beer prices are fair and they usually do game day specials on certain items. Pressbox is a great bar to catch the game or just stop in to grab a bite to eat. You won't be disappointed. read more

My first (and maybe my last) time ordering here. I'm in law school and I'm taking a break from everything. It's 3 pm and I haven't eaten all day. Usually when you're this hungry everything tastes good right? Wrong. I ordered my food to go through a delivery service so take that however you choose. I ordered chicken tenders with curly fries and broccoli. Broccoli was fine. It was roasted, it's a vegetable. It's whatever, you get what you get. With the tenders you can choose regular or buffalo. I thought at least with regular I'd get some salt. Despite the apparent seasoning I can see on the outside, these tenders have no taste whatsoever. You get 2 sauces with the tenders so I guess they think that'll cover up the lack of taste. No amount of BBQ (which is a little sweet for my taste) and Kroger soft brown mustard could've helped these poor guys. The curly fries had a slight crunch but were pretty wimpy. They were ok because potatoes make everything better, but still could've used a touch of salt. Now my delivery driver was sitting in his car, on the phone, with my food after texting me that he'd dropped it off at my door. So that could explain the fries but definitely not the chicken. I give it 3 stars because the quality of the chicken was good breast meat with no weird chewy parts, and I got a good serving of vegetables. But I'm the midst of a pandemic, if I wanted that level of flavor in food, I could've cooked myself thank you. read more

We had such a great time here! We were staying a block away and did t have a ton of time to go out during our conference. We needed a place to go and stumbled upon The Press Box. It's in a super cool old building as well. The servers were super nice, and even though they were out of some of the desserts they were so accommodating and kind. The bartender makes a mean mule as well! We liked the atmosphere so much that we went back a second night. It's a sports bar as well with like 15 TVs! It would be a fun place to watch a game. I've been there 5 times over the past month and originally I gave them a 5 star rating. However after my visit today, I am changing it. If I could rate them less than a single star I would. I sat in the bar area for more than 45 minutes and other than my initial drink, no one came to check on me. I sat for 25 minutes with an empty glass before someone decided I was important enough to come ask if I wanted anything. No one offered a menu, checked back on me or even acknowledged my sitting there. After waiting over 45 minutes, one of the bartenders walked by and asked if I needed anything. I asked to speak to the manager on duty. He came to the table (Chris) just happened to be the person that brought me the initial drink and I was in his section. He came up with a lame excuse about walking by and I was looking at my phone but never admitted that never stopped. He kept giving a blameless apology and offered to pay for my drink. I told him what I did for a living (Director of Food & Beverage) and he still did nothing more than give the same emotionless apology. No attempt for service recovery or show of empathy, heck, I guess it goes right along with the "no service" I recieved. "No I won't be going back". After 4 great visits to Press Box Grill, I can assure you that I will never return to this venue and will not recommend it to anyone asking for a restaurant and bar to go to in Downtown Dallas. If you decide to go on a Friday night, have low expectations and you won't be disappointed. As for me, my friends and acquaintances, we will not be going back there. read more

*Edit* Lauren and the team at PBG took the time and steps to correct the situation. I appreciate them quickly stepping in to make this right. Extremely disappointed. This was previously one of my favorite places to go especially with it being right across from my studio. I go there on my birthday eat a $20 meal and get home only to find a separate charge on my debit card for $79.02. I called the next morning and was told that this is a known issue with the payment machine and that since it's a pending transaction, it should "fall off" in 24 hours. I was only offered a lukewarm apology. Now, three days later, the transaction is still not off my account. This was money that I had set aside for my birthday plans. There was so much wrong with this interaction. If it was a known issue, why was there no warning of it and most importantly why has it not been fixed? Secondly, there was no attempt to make this right and the responsibility was just pushed over to my bank to get my money back. I really can't see myself going back here after this. Sad, because I really enjoyed myself previously. read more

I ordered the Country-Fried Chicken for pick-up with a side salad last night while coming in town. I have eaten at Press Box before and have been pretty impressed by their menu and quality of food. However, when I started to eat my food after arriving at my hotel, I was surprised to discover that they forgot both my mashed potatoes and dressing for the salad that I had ordered on the side. I'm not quite sure what happened on that one, but I wasn't very excited about it. The food that I did eat was very good! The peanut butter chocolate dessert was to die for. I had walked into this bar last night and the waiter at the door kindly tells me they are closed. I don't remember the exact time and my phone was dead so I assumed it was probably too late anyways. As I'm walking off I see he lets two women in. I ask why and he says " I have the right to refuse service to anyone" ugh seriously? Food is mediocre at best, though we did enjoy the pickle chips. Chicken tenders were undercooked. Nacho cheese wasn't melted. Never. Again. Tried to give Press Box another chance since they commented on this post, and went back for a quick early evening drink. Went here with my intern class after work before the Mavs game a few weeks back for happy hour. Service was very touch and go - it got busier as the night went on, but even from the beginning our waitress took a good 10 minutes to inform my friend that they were out of the beer she wanted. Should it have taken that long just to tell us they were out of a certain thing? Especially because there were 4-5 parties max at the time? We were trying to hurry up and try to get to the game on time but the service held us back quite a bit. When our food finally came out, my wings were dry and not worth the wait. By that time, we had already spent a good hour and a half if not more in the place and just wanted to eat and head over to American Airlines center. Slightly above average bar food and good beer selection. The country fried steak was under seasoned, the baked potato was cold and my beans were hotter than the sun. I guess it all averaged out to the right temperature. LOL My wife had the fish and chips which were good, no complaints. The server was great. She was friendly, chatty and never let the glasses go dry. We happened to be there when a very large, group was watching the football game. They were stupidly loud and were fist bumping and stumbling all around our table.
