If I could give this awful company zero stars, I would stay AWAY at all costs. They were highly recommended to us by friends who had used them previously. Our experience was just terribly awful. BE WARNED is these scammers. A quote originally given to us (move from the Central Valley to San Diego) after giving them a full tour of the house via video with all the rooms shown, furniture details etc , THEIR INITIAL QUOTE WENT UP FROM 3.5k to 7k on the day of move!!! With already 500$ down as an initial deposit and ready to move on that day (for work) We were placed in a very tight spot. This is for a small family of 2 adults and a toddler. They changed their price on us once they loaded the trucks and once they realized we had a special needs kiddo and were in a time crunch- moving for job, they took advantage of our situation. The owner/ person who gave us the initial quote was not available over the phone despite several calls since "he was on vacation and had no access". The loaders/ workers said they couldn't budge on the price and the only person to speak to was their boss who couldn't be reached. We were left scrambling, trying to get cash from the bank / atm with cash limits and the banks were closed for the weekend. Ended up borrowing from friends and family to come up with the difference. On top, they told us they will absolutely not wait for us and charge us $100 per 30 minutes if we were late and they got to San Diego before us. A very inconsiderate and immoral company. When owner finally did get back to us 2 days later after the move to address the huge quote difference. His response was I will give you a discount on your next move. As a two decade United States Army veteran I have moved across the country more times than I can count the estimate that Henry provided my wife and I for our move from California to Virginia was accurate and although I knew as soon as the guys started loading the truck that we would be over on our overall initial estimated quote, the additional charges for the Services rendered were fair and reasonable. What can I say?? These guys are amazing. We were in our house for 32 years and If I stood still long enough while they were packing up my stuff, they would have wrapped me up and put me in the truck. With extreme care, they wrapped every glass, plate and salt and pepper shakers, boxed and labeled them for unpacking in our new house. Each of the five guys were super heroes and moved at warp speed to pack up and transport our household goodies to our new house. When they arrived at the new house they switched to reverse mode and unpacked each box also at warp speed and care for us to find a place for it all. They were always ahead of us and in unwrapping our stuff and it started to stack on counters and every available empty spot. They also had a separate truck just for the things that needed to be trashed and donated. They lived up to their name of "PRESTO" and made our nightmarish experience of moving into a stress free experience. My initial quote was $3200 and when they came to load the truck they charged me $1400 extra because according to them I needed 250 cubic feet of extra space. $1400 seems like a lot of money, and then the guy had the nerve to ask me to tip the crew. I have had 25 previous addresses, so I am qualified to talk about movers. I first used Presto Logististics in 2022 to move from California to Texas. All went well, so I decided to use them again in April to move from Texas to Georgia. The 2 men who came to pack me up did so with so much care and likely went overboard, knowing there would be a long haul in a semi truck. I paid off the balance the same day as pick up. I did some homework, so their cost estimate was competitive. I had some issues with communication and eventually I waited longer than the promised delivery period estimate. It was a bit of a struggle, but it was a very busy time for moving companies. I would suggest that before the driver calls for delivery, that they ensure there is a balance. I was asked for it when it had already been paid. The driver worked with me to get the truck on the property, which I appreciated because he saved me money. There was only one thing that didn't make it to my new home but I was compensated. I recommend that Presto consider increasing their commincation. I have to tell you, I had about 95 boxes I packed myself and nothing was broken! That is a record for me. I would give them a 3.5 if I could and, despite the setbacks, I would still use them! Hired them for my move from CA to FL and everything was ok at first. Took awhile to get our stuff as it sat in warehouse in CA for 2 weeks before getting to us. I used Presto Logistics for my move from San Francisco to Las Vegas. The virtual quote process went smoothly and the staff I dealt with at first were very professional and kind. Unfortunately, the day of the move was extremely stressful. The crew arrived more than eight hours late, which created serious issues with using the loading dock and elevator since it was past business hours. Once the job shifted from the sales side to dispatch, the communication and tone changed. The dispatchers I spoke with were rude, short, and offered very few options or explanations. Because of time constraints, I ended up having to move out at night in downtown San Francisco, which I would never have chosen if I had been given realistic timing. The most troubling part was the final bill. After the move, I was charged more than $1,000 above the original quote with no clear explanation that made sense. When I looked at the truck, it was completely filled with other customers' belongings. It felt like they underquoted to get my business, and then the final price conveniently matched the higher quotes I had received from other moving companies. On the positive side, the actual movers themselves were quick, friendly, and professional. I received my items in less than a week, and the delivery crew was also fast, professional, and courteous. Overall, I would urge people to be very cautious about their billing practices and to be skeptical of low initial quotes. My wife and I made the decision to go with Presto Logistics. We were disappointed to arrive at our destination with multiple broken items and most of my wife's wardrobe missing. Initially we were quoted a price and upon looking at our items we decided not to take some of the larger items we had originally planned on moving such as a couple of large beds, china cabinet, and dining room table. We added in some smaller extra items instead that we thought were more important. When Presto arrived and I informed them of the items we were taking they said there might be some additional charges. I expected to pay a small difference. The team of men began emptying the house and were friendly through the process. Towards the end of the day, and after at least 80 percent of our items were packed in the truck the man in charge came to me with the new price. I was flabbergasted when he showed me the price had increased by almost $5,000. I was upset but with a deadline to be out of the house the following day and most of my belongings already on the truck all I could do was agree and sign the papers. After I signed the contract and made a large payment I was informed that all of my belongings wouldn't fit on the truck they had. They informed me that I would have to wait for another truck to get there to pick up the remaining items. I was told the truck would be there by 9pm. The movers had arrived at my house at 6am that morning. I was exhausted but again had no choice but to agree and wait for the 2nd truck. The 2nd truck arrived around 8pm. It was already dark and I didn't realize until after they left that some of the items I asked them to take like my black stone grill were left in the back yard. We were disappointed to have to give away most of these items. We were originally told our items would arrive to our new house on Friday. When I called to inquire about the exact time they would arrive I was told that my items wouldn't actually arrive until the following Tuesday morning. Thank God for me packing clothes for myself, my wife, and our 5 kids for a week. When our things finally did arrive, there was a third party handling our truck. They moved the belongings into the house and "set up" the beds. I did my best to keep myself and my children out of the way to allow them to work. Once the third party left, we realized they set my kids metal bunk beds together but never added any of the screws. We unpacked mostly broken glass items and realized that all my wife's wardrobe was nowhere to be found. We waited until we had gone through every box to make sure we weren't just missing it. When I got through all of the boxes I called presto to let them know that all of my wife's clothes including some pretty expensive pieces were missing. They informed me that they would look into it and call me back. When I received a call the following day I was told that they looked at the warehouse but my box wasn't located there. I wasn't offered and type of compensation or even an apology really. Overall I feel I was taken advantage of and overcharged. Presto will give you a price and pull the bait and switch last minute. No accountability when the lose expensive items. After spending an exuberant amount of money to move our belongings my wife is left with practically no clothing. read more

My husband and I used Presto to move from California to Oregon and our jewelry was stolen by the movers. We contacted them 5 business days after the delivery as soon as we realized it was missing. It was rings that was in ring holders that was on dressers the movers were moving things into. They even took my engagement ring but left my wedding band (and a designer ring too so clearly knew the most expensive things on there). It's really disappointing that you let people into your house, make them coffee as they move things in and this happens. When we called them they said there is no way one of the movers would have stolen anything but they would look into the other one and call us and no surprises they never called us back! When I followed up with the company they didn't even bother getting back to me and I'm basically in a position where there is nothing I can do. If you don't catch the robbery the second it happens it's impossible to substantiate and the movers will just always say that Besides that - they took about 20 days to deliver my items which is also unacceptable. PLEASE sell your belongings if you're moving cross country or send your valuables to a trusted family member and donate, discard or give away the rest. It's better than dealing with the stress! Moving companies can be very shady but are nice in the beginning like toxic relationships. I was quoted one price and since I had more items in the end the price almost doubled. Then you're dealing with employees you wouldn't work with on a professional level. I didn't like my initial conversations with Erica or Linda. Henry was nice and cordial from the start then his attitude changed. The owner told me to contact Henry for questions about my shipment. Transportation was delayed due to unknow reasons, but it worked out miraculously. The driver was somewhat cool but tried to charge more right before delivery claiming his truck couldn't move any further without damage. Like dealing with a snake and trying to strike a deal with cash. The hardest part was the anxiety of worrying about my stuff and added fees due to bad reviews, but the driver had an exact account of my things, but my count was off one box. So, kudos to that. Thankfully, my boxes weren't damaged. Some were a lit bent but nothing to complain about. I'll never do this again. There's a reason why God said store your treasures in heaven. read more

This is my updated review for Presto Logistics. I went from one star to four because after writing my first review I almost immediately got a call from Henry. He was extremely apologetic for the problems I had faced and asked for some time to figure out how to compensate me for my troubles. He once again contacted me a couple of days later to assure me that he was working on getting me the best compensation possible but that he needed a bit more time. Finally, he called me to state what he had been able to achieve for me, which was a much more reasonable settlement than I expected. My recommendation to customers is to keep in close contact with the person who gives you the estimate, so that she or he can be your mediator between the packers and drivers and you. Unfortunately that didn't occur to me and it may have saved me a lot of aggravation. read more

hired Presto Logistics to assist with my move from California to Colorado in June 2022. Additionally, I also used their storage facility for two months until my home in Colorado was ready. I would only hire Presto if the agreement was firm fixed price and I would not recommend their storage facility. It took me awhile to get through 249 boxes but I did and everything was accounted for. In an effort to obtain a quote that would be reasonable, I interviewed in person at my California home several moving companies, I walked them through each room in the house as well as the garage and walk up attic space. Based on my conversations with each of the moving companies, Henry Vogel at Presto appeared to be most knowledgeable and confident in their ability to pack up my home, store my household goods until my home in Colorado was completed and my household goods would be in good hands with Presto as they do not subcontract out to another company to store my household goods and transport them to Colorado. I would be dealing with one person and one company. Their estimate to load, store and transport my household goods for a house at 2800 square feet to Colorado was $10.5K. It wasn't the cheapest, it was middle of the batch. My husband and I packed the entire house and we took the time to label each box with color tape assigned to a room in our new home, a number on the box ( I created a detailed excel spreadsheet that contained the contents in each box, I created drop down lists for what room in my Colorado home the box will be placed, added "FRAGILE" stickers to the outside boxes as needed). Its move day, off to a good start. Presto movers arrive at my California home on time and the movers begin to wrap my furniture and take my household goods out to load in their trucks. The movers were efficient and get the job done in 6 hours. The lead guy from Presto brings in the bill and instead of the original $10.5k it is now almost $14K. We are told the estimate was not correct, we call Henry to discuss this increase and after much back and forth, we got two months of free storage. We could not understand how the estimate was so off, Henry had access to the entire house, opened cabinets, opened drawers and spaces. We even sold more household items than was or suppose to be included in the estimate. Then the lead guy informs us that we need to give each of the movers a $100 tip which is typically the minimum. Well that was news to us and unfortunately we did not have much cash on hand so we gave them a little tip. I provided waters, gatorade, granola bars and sliced oranges for the movers to consume while working and it was all gone when they were done. As far as the storage facility goes, I would not recommend these services primarily because all of my furniture pieces were delivered with scratches, dents, chunks of wood missing, broken glasses, dishes, mixing bowls, picture frames broken. Although a eventually filed a claim, some of the items damaged cannot be replaced such as my bier glasses I bought from Germany. My lladro figurines from Portugal. Family heirloom happy birthday plate that I made at Color me mine 15 years ago, my great grandfathers executive desk delivered scratched up and must of carried a heavy load that it made the desktop bow down. Despite my efforts to bubble wrap delicate items, attach "FRAGILE" labels. Even those boxes arrived all mangled and damaged. I am attaching some photos for your review. I eventually filed a claim and Maria at the Presto Office was very kind and helpful. To prepare to file a claim, I had to include pictures of damaged item (if you don't the claim will be denied), make and model of damaged item, when it was purchased, where it was purchased, how much it would cost to replace, a link of the store the new item/furniture would be purchased. This process took me three days to collect my pictures, determine which items will be replaced, which items will be repaired and which I just will have to live with as is. As stated above there were items they broke, destroyed that have more sentimental value and cannot be replaced and this is why I would not recommend their storage facility. The staff did not care about household goods. Again, I would only use Presto if the agreement is firm fixed price and DO NOT USE their storage facility. read more

UPDATE: After seeing this review, Henry personally followed up with both a text and phone call. Our move took place about 6 months ago and I was very late to write this review. The fact that Henry took the time to follow up with me and go over my complaints line by line speaks volumes. Moving is never fun, but Presto truly cares about their customers. I felt very valued and truly appreciate Henry taking time to talk through everything with me. Thanks, Presto!! ------------------------------------------------ Presto's whole pitch was that they would send someone out to the house to give you a quote and that quote was final. Don't believe it. We did that and they came out, gave us a fair quote and then charged us $4,000 extra when they came to pack everything the day of the move. We didn't magically get more items, they just didn't quote properly and said we just had more stuff. The day of you dont really have a choice though, they literally have your stuff packed up.. so you kind of have to sign. Upon complaining I think they gave us a $500-$600 discount, but we still paid thousands more than originally quoted. It took about 20 days to get our items from California to Virginia, and when they finally arrived I asked the driver if I could pay when they were done unpacking to ensure we had everything / nothing was damaged. The driver immediately proceeded to lock the trailer and said he would not unpack 1 piece of our furniture until we had paid in full. I asked if we could pay half / half and he got so upset. We ultimately had to pay everything before he would even unlock the trailer. I never planned to not pay, I just had zero leverage had there of been an issue. It was a very stressful and expensive ordeal. I know moving is never fun but this did not make it any better. I will say they packed everything well and the labor was polite (aside from the driver) but I had to share this extremely negative experience. read more

The quoted me one price that was in the ball park of other bids. Once my things were packed up in three hours I was charged double it was already on the truck. The project manager yelled at his packers telling them to hurry. They broke so many things the packers are not experienced packers. My living room end tables legs are heavy rod iron. They broke two of them off, it had to be dropped. The matching coffee table glass top is broken. My mother had a table with 6 legs that folded three legs on each side they broke a leg off. One box would have kitchen, living room and bathroom it's been a nightmare to unpack. My grandmothers Bull China Hutch has gold leaf broken off. My bedrooms armoire doors no longer an alignment. My solid wood dresser has a big hunk out of the side and it's all scratched up. They put fragile glasses at the bottom of the box with heavy pots and pans on top they were shattered. They broke an expensive piece of glass art that cost $375. They had it at the bottom of the box once again not even wrapped. I still cannot find my TV remotes. I had a piece of lead glass that I bought in Switzerland that was a unicorn and they broke an ear off, my mother had a perfume bottle with a hummingbird on top that was over $200 and they broke the beak. I have a Shaquille O'Neal jersey that signed that was in a glass frame, and I haven't even opened it. When I went to move it to open it, I heard broken glass. The owner Henry would not come and look at the damage. And I'm not even done unpacking. I was told if I didn't pay $5000 more they wouldn't deliver my belongings. I called Presto Logistics to schedule my move from California to Georgia about 7 weeks early and it was an easy/smooth process. Customer service was very friendly, informative, and they answered all of my questions. I got a quote through Facetime with Henry which was $2600 for 300 cubic feet and I paid a $250 deposit to book it. My pickup date was scheduled for Monday (1/17/22) and I finished packing a few days before on Friday (1/14/22). That's when I realized I had more stuff than what was on the original quote, and after reading other reviews about some people having to pay more on pickup, I immediately called Presto and spoke with Dave Parlo. We went through my inventory again, I told him exactly what I had and he assured me the price would remain the same. He emailed me an updated quote to sign, still priced at $2600 and everything should've been good. On Monday (1/17/22) at 6:00 am sharp, about 6 guys showed up to my home ready to move. 1 guy was the leader and handled the paperwork with me while the other guys loaded it all up. As soon as the last box was gone, the head guy says "sorry, you have to pay a little more"! I told him I spoke to Dave already and he kept saying there's nothing he can do, and charged me for 25 more cubic feet. The price went from $2600 to $2775 for 25 more cubic feet and he never even went to go look inside the truck or took any measurements. He just somehow knew I needed to be charged for 25 more cubic feet. It was 6 am and I didn't want to argue so I just agreed to pay the difference since my flight was the next night. The driver arrived to Georgia 8 days later on 01/25/22. The 18-wheeler wouldn't make it down my street so I had to rent a truck and meet the driver at a nearby parking lot. The driver was alone and didn't have any movers to help. He offered to unload and load my truck by himself no problem but that would've taken him a long time and I didn't want to stand around and just watch him struggle so I hopped in truck and helped him out. I could tell he really needed the help. My boxes were heavy! All of my belongings arrived on time and intact, but the price increase on pickup, especially after I called in to verify was really disappointing and Presto Logitstics had nothing to say about it. So beware, it may happen to you too. Then, having to pay for my own truck and help load it because there were no other movers makes me feel like I got the short end of the stick on this move. read more

I moved from OC, CA to Texas in February 2025. Presto had good prices, they were friendly, and had good communication. Those are the positives. The kids they sent to pack my stuff were just that - kids . And inexperienced in packing furniture. Every. single. one. of my antiques were broken. The buffet broken across the entire top surface. The antique high chair tray cracked in half. The dresser broken across the top like the buffet. Antique coffee table cracked on top. Another dresser had the back wooden supports for the mirrors cracked and broken right off. Other things were also broken but those were not antiques and can be replaced. The Presto rep who delivered my furniture was kind, friendly, and communicated very well re: timing of delivery. When I showed him all of the broken items he told me "Well it's old wood and that's what happens." Alright, so if this was my career and I knew "old wood" cracked and broke easily I would do something different. Like perhaps: wrap it better. Mark it so that heavy boxes aren't stacked on top of it. Mark it so that it is carried with care, definitely not by the top corners. And if you are unable to do those things then tell your customers that you will most likely break all of their antique furniture so that they make alternate plans for those items. And please be aware that for broken items you only receive 15 cents per pound per item. If you have valuables and things that are valuable to you, don't send them with Presto, pack them yourself and take them with you. read more

After doing my research with 4-5 movers, we finally went through Presto Logistics for our big move from CA to NC. All the staff including the drivers, movers, and Customer support were great. Zek and Henry were so helpful and cooperative. The estimate and final charges were well within our budget and there were no hidden costs or surprises. Everything went smoothly. As mentioned by the driver at pickup, the volume did vary for digital vs actual loading of items. Like for 80 boxes estimate, we had only 45 boxes, but still meet the final cu ft. So, need to keep that in mind for future move. Would highly recommend Presto to everyone. read more

Today is January 31st. I was instructed to be prepared for them to pick my things up at 4:45 AM on January 9th. The reason for that is a complete mystery to me since my things did not leave Los Angeles until the 24th. Credit to the manager Henry for making a proactive effort to keep me in the loop but it has been a frustrating process to say the least. Maria, who I spoke with early on during the move, would rush me off of the phone when I would check in to see when I could reasonably expect my things to get here. I realize it is January and the conditions of driving from LA to Denver are not ideal, but it is a 16 hour drive and when you're given a 1-14 day delivery window, you would think your stuff could arrive any day. Maria did not want to give me that update. We're now on day 22 since my things were picked up in Los Angeles. As I mentioned, Henry has done a good job of trying to keep me updated, but now the truck drivers are failing to communicate. The driver informed me through Henry that he would be arriving in Denver this past Saturday, the one day since moved here that I have not be available to receive my delivery. We confirmed that the driver would show up Monday instead so that I could be home. On Monday, the driver let Henry and myself know that he in fact was not even in Denver yet and had been in Wyoming for two days, unbeknownst to Henry or myself. I was able to communicate with the driver directly, who told me yesterday he would be here between 2-4, and today he is telling me he won't be able to make it. That makes three straight days I've been told my things are arriving. It feels like my time is being held hostage at this point. Getting information out of anyone besides the manager feels like pulling teeth. Spending a few thousand dollars to get service this unreliable seems to be very misguided read more

They helped pack what needed to be be packed, dismantle what needed to be dismantled, and put together what needed to be put together once all the items arrived at the new location. So this is my first experience with a moving company so not quite sure how to compare it, but I personally would NOT work with these guys again. I'll try to keep this short as I can, but I got some things to say! Pros: First off to start on the positive, Henry was great to work with. Came to my apartment to give a quote. The price was on the low/middle side compared to other companies, but seemed more reliable than some of the cheaper companies. I was able to text Henry throughout the moving experience which was really nice, probably something most other companies don't do. Cons: 1) To start I personally thought the primary guy who moved us in was a bit rude/condescending. For example, when he arrived he said he had to change trucks because the 18 wheeler wouldn't fit ...extra fee too : ( When he got back a few hours later, I told him I had to go get cash real quick because the last bank I just came from had suddenly closed after an employee was diagnosed with covid! At first he said he was going to have to charge me extra because the cash wasn't in my hands when they arrived! I was like wait what, I need 10 minutes to go to the bank after waiting 15 days for you to get here, and no one told me I had to have the cash exactly when they arrived, AND I spoke with you literally the day before. He gives a snark response, "it's in the contract". He didn't end up charging me after some arguing, but that was kind of his attitude throughout. 2) So for the bed in our guest bedroom, they actually LOST THE PIECES TO PUT IT TOGETHER. You know, like screws, bolts, wooden dowels, I dunno I'm not super handy. So they placed the mattress, headboard, etc.. in the guestroom and were basically like, yea the pieces are missing and you're gonna have to go figure out how to find them yourself...what?!?! So I had to drive all the way to the only IKEA in town and figure out how to get the missing pieces. Luckily, IKEA was able to figure it out and send them to our apartment a week later. But if the bed was from a less national brand, I could very well have been SOL. Presto did offer to send someone like a week after we got the parts to build the bed, but that's several weeks after we already moved in our stuff. So I built the bed myself with my father-in-law. Wait.. why did I even hire movers then? 3) A bunch of other stuff was either missing or broken in addition to the bed including: - the wheels to our grill broke off, - the legs to our george foreman grill are missing, - the legs to our bar table are missing, - many dishes were broken including EXPENSIVE wedding gifts. We packed these very well with all kinds of bubble wrap and put fragile stickers all over them. There is no chance they were handled well. 4) And with all these issues, there really was never any sort of apology or sense of caring or anything. Just felt really impersonal. Felt like they gypped me really, huge waste of money in my opinion. That's all I got! This company has pretty good reviews in general so I don't know if this is isolated incident, but we were not happy with the move. ***EDIT*** (07/31/20) So after writing this review, Henry (who I mentioned earlier in the review) reached out to me. He was apologetic and wanted to make things right. We were able to come to an amicable resolution. I appreciate the way he deals with issues to come up with solutions. While this does not change the fact that my move had many issues, I appreciate the fact that they cared and we were able to come to a better closure. read more

From California to Texas, it's a smooth sailing, worry-free transaction. I was worried at first especially it's my first time shipping this much/far with all my belongings and collections from my bedroom apartment (no furnitures included, just a 5x4 picture frame that they wrapped with a secure cloth around it) I wasn't sure about process of it, so i had to box and tape it myself before contacting any of these shipping companies. (doing so will definitely help your budget a lot more) and they would double tape it again upon pickup. We recently moved from California to Tennessee. In considering our options, for a move of that distance, most movers give themselves a lot of time to get your belongings from one place to another...up to a month. As a result, in addition to Presto, we rented a U-Haul truck to take mattresses and things...just in case it took a week or so to get there. As it turns out, it did. For that whole month, we had to rent a hotel room. Even though this was within the contract limits, it added thousands of dollars to our expenses. Our contact at Presto, was Henry Vogel. When we first met with him, he gave us a quote for the move...around $30,000. He gave us choices on insurance in case anything breaks. He quoted us a premium of $3,700 for $100,000 in coverage...or we could take the standard coverage that simply pays on a "per pound" rate. Since he assured us of the quality of care that Presto delivers (and the fact that they wrap everything in blankets...as well as bubble wrap), we decided that paying thousands of additional dollars for something that probably won't happen would not be a good use of our money. We decided we could minimize our risks by focusing on packing everything particularly well on our end, and simply go with the standard coverage. We don't know where our belongings were for the month they were in Presto's hands. We know that they were loaded on two trucks originally...unloaded...and then loaded again. We also don't know if they were in a storage facility for a period of time. What we do know is that they were not handled with care! Although we won't bore you with the details of everything that was broken, there were a couple of items that deserve mention: 1. Chest of Drawers...this is a large piece of furniture with multiple drawers. When it was delivered, we saw cracks in the facing between some of the drawers. In addition, several of the drawers could no longer be completely closed. It does not appear to have external damage...like being hit by a fork lift or something. On the other hand, the damage is more internal...like it was dropped and the inside mechanisms were impacted. 2. Armoire...we also had a large wooden piece with both drawers below and shelves above. The wood is carved in traditional Spanish style. When this piece arrived, one side of the armoire had a crack about 20" in length. Once again, this could have resulted from a drop...or being hit by something very hard, like a fork lift. 3. Sofa...we had a very large, very expensive, fabric covered sofa. When Presto picked it up, they wrapped the sofa with blankets and plastic wrap. When the sofa was delivered, it was apparent that the top/back portion of the sofa had been rubbed hard enough to actually wear through the blankets, the shrink wrap...and the actual fabric of the sofa as well. It had a hole in it, that we showed to the foreman in charge of the delivery. Even he acknowledged the damage. After the move was complete, we contacted Henry Vogel to ask about the claim process. He assured us that we could take several months to make sure we had a thorough list, before filing the claim. We assessed our damage and followed the steps outlined by the claim processing company, CSI. They required detailed information, including pictures of the items being claimed. After working through their process, the claim came to roughly $5,000. CSI came back with a settlement offer of $220...total. Some of the items they discounted significantly and some they said had zero value (because Presto wasn't there when the pieces were unwrapped). Of course, nobody ever said that was a requirement and it's totally opposite of the "take your time" approach that Henry had presented. After getting the settlement offer from CSI, I called Henry. He agreed to look into things and came back with a $500 offer. When we refused, he "talked to management" and came back with an offer of $1,050. This offer we accepted. In the meantime, because my wife had grown frustrated with this whole process, she went on Yelp on June 21 and aired her feelings. Apparently, Henry was made aware of the posting and he called me. He said that the $1,050 settlement was conditional on taking down the Yelp post from my wife. The bottom line is that her post is still up...and now I'm adding more detail to it. We obviously declined their bribe. Presto does not want prospective customers to know how they handle the items that are entrusted to their care. The bottom line is that they can keep your stuff as long as they need to, for the benefit of scheduling on their end. And then, if they break something, the cards are stacked against the consumer. Presto has virtually no liability exposure...compare the $220 settlement we hope to be getting soon, to the $30,000 we gave them. We're very thankful that we rented that U-Haul. read more
