I'm a longtime Pret addict after lots of London trips and once they opened in NYC, I would try to swing by each trip. The DC branch doesn't fail the longtime successful formula. Lots of selections and each is delicious, great sweet snacks, delicious coffee and a great morning muffin. DC staff follows Pret edict for efficiency and cheerfulness - they're alert to customer flow and there's never the disorganization or hold-ups you experience constantly at Cosi. Only reason I knock off a star is because I think sandwich prices have gone up alot - I'm fine with paying, and paying more for quality, but there are really high for Pret packaged sandwiches (particularly so for the 1/2 sandwiches) and the reason I don't stop by as often as I'd like . read more

The food quality at this branch has decreased dramatically in the last month. I ate here several times a week for at least two years. Now I'm absolutely turned off. The sweet potato and cauliflower hot bowl used to be light and tasty and I bought it frequently last winter. When I bought it yesterday it was swimming in oil. Disgusting! I loved the new quinoa bowls, especially the beet one. The last four times I bought it, the beets were mostly raw. Maybe not a problem if they were served shredded, but for this dish they're served in big chunks. The bad experiences have been frequent enough now that I will regretfully say goodbye to what had been a delightful healthy restaurant and look for a new lunch place. read more

I stopped in here while I was in the neighborhood to grab a light lunch on the go. It was awesome to see that they have half sandwiches for half the price. Yeah, that sounds pretty logical, but don't you hate it how most places tempt you to buy the whole shabang b/c you just can't justify spending more to get less? I appreciate that they give you the option to buy half a sandwich, but don't rip you off in the process. Anyway, my sandwich had Bell & Evans chicken, avocado, field greens, and this yummy pesto-ish spread. It was fantastic. Also, I've been craving a muffin for about a week and I finally gave in to the blueberry muffin "with a hint of lemon". Not too impressed. Honestly, you can call me crazy, but I really love Dunkin Donuts muffins more. If I'm in the area again, I'll definetly stop in for something quick and delicious (just not a muffin). Went here for lunch...it was nice and fast service! The sandwiches are pre made and the soup you have to ask for at the counter. I tried the carrot ginger soup, which was pretty good. I like that the ingredients are fresh and also that all the food that is left over for the day is given to charities to help feed those less fortunate and not thrown away. They have many Prets in NYC...so it was nice and refreshing to see this in DC.. read more

I used to eat at Pret regularly and had no issues until yesterday. Friday, a coworker surprised the office by bringing us breakfast from Pret. Unfortunately, those of us that ate the Egg and Bacon Sandwich got sick. I called to speak to the manager and was told there wasn't one working. When I explained the food poisoning situation to the associate, she hung up. Very disappointed. read more

Reasonable price for great / healthy ingredients, and staff is well trained (though I've seen some deterioration after the first team seems to have disappeared). I could happily have three meals a day there! I hope they keep up with this great quality food! read more

My first time trying Pret occurred because I was at a week long training where the coffee was awful, and I needed to quickly get a latte from somewhere. Pret A Manger fit the bill. They make the most delicious caramel lattes! They don't have a bunch of different flavors like Starbucks, but their coffee tastes a heck of a lot better too! Also, it's cheaper! I can get a large latte for under $4. Try that at Starbucks, and see how long it takes for the cashier to have a hearty laugh at you. Since that first visit I've also tried their oatmeal with brown sugar and cinnamon, which was okay. I'm not really an oatmeal person, and was just trying to be healthy for a change. On my most recent visit I had a buttered croissant, and it was simply divine. This is my new go to breakfast spot. The coffee and bakery items are way tastier, and cheaper than Starbucks. I'm sure I'll try their sandwiches for lunch soon. There are two locations even closer to my job than this one, so that's where I'll be :). read more

I am a very disappointed about the coffee at Pret on 14th and H streets. They used to have great coffee, now it's undrinkable. Such a pity! I used to order a latte but now it's like ordering warm milk. No taste whatsoever, and if you try the shot, it's completely bitter, burned, and smells weird. They should do better, given their competition is right across the street! read more

The food is tasty but the portions are extremely small and this means expensive for the amount of food you receive. I just purchased one of their wraps and couldn't believe how tiny the wrap was. It was truly a miniature sandwich. I just ate lunch and I'm still hungry. The cashiers are also extremely chintzy with the napkins and bags. read more

I LOVE PRET!! I was so excited to eat here as it used to be my go to place in London. The food is exactly the same as it is in Europe. I love that they post the calories right next to the food- it makes it easier for me to keep track of what I'm eating. It's quick, tasty, cheap and healthy. Pretty much the perfect lunch. read more

The French name translates to "Ready to eat" (a joke on the fashion term "pret a porter," ready-to-wear clothes as opposed those specifically tailored to the wearer) and indeed, this place is perfect for when you're pressed for time. I can always find an appealing sandwich or half-sandwich, and there are some healthy salads and sides. For breakfast I'm hopelessly stuck on the Latino bean and egg wrap with bacon, and coffee lovers will rejoice in the full-bodied and fresh brew. The staff is well trained and gracious and the location, literally at the escalator of the Metro station, makes the slightly high prices justifiable. As for the alluring baked treats, I'm actually afraid to try them for fear of becoming hooked. read more

I work in MD, but this place makes me want to schedule all of my afternoon meetings in Gallery Place just so I can come here for lunch. I love the easy selection; incorporation of fresh foods & beverages that aren't laden with fat, grease, sugar, etc.; the calorie estimates that ensure no horrific surprises (and allow you to justify buying a croissant with that salad); the efficient check-out line; the delicious flavored sparkling waters. It's reasonably affordable, filling, healthy, tasty lunch food which is frustratingly hard to find if you aren't lucky enough to work downtown. PLEASE, PLEASE open a branch in Bethesda!! read more

I remember Pret A Manger back in London. So glad it is here stateside. The croissants are some of the best in DC. I also had the falafel, which is a good vegetarian option. I would prefer it was saucier. Service is good and fast, and the food is great, but slightly on the pricier side for a sandwich shop. Overall, I recommend this place. read more

I used to be a fan of Pret A Manger in general. However, I got scromboid food poisioning after having a tuna sandwich at this location. I had to go to emergency room. I reported the issue right away to the establishment and later on to their customer service department. They have been totally unresponsive. I would really caution you about this place. read more

Excellent food and truly excellent service. I arrived at 10:31 AM on a Tuesday morning (breakfast ends at 10:30) and although I was hoping that a breakfast sandwich still remained, they had just been cleared from the shelf. Not to worry: the on-duty manager (Renee) whom I asked about any remaining breakfast items very pleasantly brought me one that had just been taken off the shelf and GAVE it to me. A great sandwich too! Of course, I bought some coffee and juice too, but the gracious, helpful service was what impressed me so much. The restaurant is clean, well-run, and customer-friendly. Special kudos to Renee and to the Operations Manager Victor De Paz. I'd go out of my way to buy breakfast or lunch at this Pret a Manger. read more

Best coffee I have ever tasted (I'm not big into the starbucks taste, & the coffee they serve here is much smoother and milder), and the lemon muffins and sandwiches aren't half bad either. So heres the deal, my co-workers and I literally scope out new places to eat lunch with a child-like delight. When I heard there was a new place opening up right down the block we were thrilled!. Much to my dismay there were several things that were a let down, perhaps this was my own ignorance, but I had no idea that everything was pre-packaged. Going to the website and looking at the extensive menu of sandwiches and yummy soups, I'm thinking they are going to give Au Bon Pain a run for their money; but no where on the website does is state, "Hey been to 7 Eleven lately thats pretty much the set up" oh and I can't forget the "mad- grab" for what you want as things go quickly and if your experience is similar to mine, the "Hot Sandwiches only available at lunch section" completely empty! As for taste and price, I would feel better about the situation if the prices were bettter, to go with the theme, "quick, easy, and go" i think they forgot the cheap part. Lastly the Carrot Cake, yummy! but for the size of a twinky it should NOT be $3 bucks. read more

Beware of pickpockets. While dining here at lunch, my wallet was stolen right out of my purse. According to my credit card statements, the thief then proceeded directly to the checkout counter and ordered a snack with my credit card. The thief obviously needed the energy for the shopping spree that ensued. Added hundreds to metro cards, and then proceeded straight to Macys to buy hundreds in gift cards, etc. When I told the manager, he was not very helpful and basically admitted there are no security protocols (like checking to see if the name even remotely matches the person's gender - female name on card vs. male customer). I used to heart Pret a Manger but I stay far away from here now. read more

If you are in a rush and want something decent that is not too expensive, Pret is a good option. However, it is definitely not a five star establishment. There is nothing exceptional here. read more

The location is excellent and right next to Farragut West metro station and the adjoining plaza which offers open seating near a fountain. The indoor and immediate outdoor seating is sparse so take out is recommended. It can get very busy during the mornings but the lines disperse very quickly. Price of a single premade sandwich is a little expensive but you get good value especially considering the neighboring eating establishments in the area like Au Bon Pain who charge almost double for some of their so called special sandwiches. read more

I just started working in DC a few months ago and since that time Pret A Manger has quickly become my go-to spot for a quick and healthy lunch. They have a great selection of sandwiches and salads. And I love their rosemary chips. Although it's a bit pricey, everything I've tried has been exceptionally tasty. And who couldn't get behind supporting a business that donates the food not sold that day to local charities working with the hungry. read more

Food and staff are outstanding. It's a short walk from work and it's now my regular lunch place. I love the fact that they recycle and give food to homeless people at the end of the day. You simply can't beat pret a manger. read more
