went for lunch and had lentil soup and some sort of salad - food was good but a medium soup (small cup) and salad coming in at around $12 (no drink) is barely a bargain. There are just much better options in the city for $12 dollars. The seating in the place is good if you can find one of the nice leather chairs by the window, but otherwise it's cramped. There is a decent selection of food and I love that they have descriptions and nutritional breakdowns on the web. If you don't mind paying then I recommend it. read more

I had the croissant breakfast sandwich. It was premade so i was a little skeptical, but the croissant was crispy and delish!!! The staff was very nice and moved the line along fast! i would defintely go back to check out their lunch menu. read more

Pret brings back memories of airports and looking for a quick decent meal in the UK. To me, the prepacked meals are a better alternative to normal fast food as I don't feel full but yet hungry after eating there. They also have salads, soups and pastries which gives you a better chance at having a quick but balanced meal. A friend is obsessive about the almond croissants and after having one, I understand why. Most almond croissants have way too much filling and tastes unbalanced. Pret's almond croissants have a light filling which highlights the croissant and are a perfect way to start the day. read more

Arrogant and indifferent Pret A Manger with a go-go-go rush service, and in spite, it used to be worth patronizing daily when they had an excellent hot tomato mozzarella croissant. Well, they got rid of that and replaced with a quite mediocre oranais-type quick-to-make pastry item, which is still called "croissant". I called their corporate central customer service (sine the chain shop employees have no say in the business) and requested they keep the croissant. They gave me a typical corporate b/s PR spiel and offered a $5 gift card for my trouble. There is no trouble. I just no longer go there. BTW the $5 card never arrived. read more

When this location first opened we were coming every day for lunch. To be honest I never really LOVED anything but the people were so friendly we just ended up making it a habit. I will say the tomato soup is delicious and I was hooked on the mini brownies for a good six months... could not live a day without one. Other than that I am kind of opposed to packaged sandwiches (for no good reason) and don't love their salads... especially for the price. Pret is my go-to lunch spot. I work basically directly above the store, so convenience is definitely a positive factor for me, but their combination of consistently fresh and tasty food, excellent selection of anything I would ever want to eat for lunch, and friendly and efficient service would make a short trek worth your while. The grab-and-go business model may not be everybody's thing, but I love that I can be in and out of here in five minutes even during the busiest time of day and the food is still great. It's also a huge plus that they offer half ("slim") sandwiches and baguettes for those looking for something lighter or just want the flexibility to try more than one item. I'm intrigued by the signs plastered everywhere declaring that the menu changes on a seasonal basis. I've only been working in this area for about a month so I've just sampled the summer choices (my usuals are the chicken cobb, chicken and mozz baguette, and apple and cheddar sandwich: all winners). Avocado features prominently in a wide variety of their summer menu options, also another bonus. Their iced lattes are yummy and cheaper than nearby Starbucks-- just make sure to clearly specify what flavor and kind of milk you prefer, because they probably won't ask. That has been the *only* issue I've had with service after frequenting this establishment about 10 times in the past month. The staff has perfected the art of cheerful service with a smile while efficiently managing the hectic crowds that grow here during the lunch hour. Speaking of crowds, advice to Pret first-timers: peruse the online menu before stopping in so you at least have an idea of what you want so you don't crowd the refrigerator case with a confused expression on your face. Nutritional information is posted online too! I always bring my lunch back to the office, but they have a small sit-down area in the back. If you're in the Farragut West area, definitely check out Pret for lunch soon-- just make sure you at least take a glance at the menu before you stop in. read more

This is my favorite spot near my office. Their coffee is locally roasted and reasonably priced, their food is always tasty, the staff are friendly and efficient. I really appreciate the concept behind Pret, that locally produced, healthy food can be reasonably priced. I visit Pret at least once a week. read more

I really like the coffee and breakfast items here but I'm not to crazy about the customer service......they all seem to be a little lost at times, looking like they can't understand English. They don't have napkins out for the customers but have utensils and when you ask for some, you might get one or two.....for the money I'm spending there, at least let me get my own napkins. Cheap good healthy food. Filling without being lots of food. Just what I was looking for.

If there is one thing I can eat every day until the end of my days, it would be Pret's chocolate croissant. The best I have ever tasted, the best that there is out there, especially in the DMV area. Oh what a delicious treat! So decadent, so fresh, yet so simple and moist and flaky and not overly sweet. Just the best. Go ahead and try it, warm if possible for the best experience ever. I'm thinking after you've had it, you will never want anything else, lol. The rest of their food is great as well, I have never been disappointed by the items they sell, from the wraps, the pastries, to the boxed goodies (chocolate fudge brownie, yum!). They're all awesome. Even, the regular croissant is bombastic, when warmed a bit. The store is always clean, their staff friendly, and I love that the food is fresh and made daily. Above all, i love the brand's philosophy. They donate their food to shelters on a daily basis rather than throw it away ( at least that's what they advertise they do, and I really hope it's true). The reason for withholding star is because the sandwiches ofter running out, you need to get there early to get what you want, especially for lunch hours. I just looooove the croissant they have, I found it hard to get a croissant that is crispy and buttery as what I get from Pret, plus their coffee is really good, hot and not too burn. Another thing I like about Pret is most of the items are organic, a bit pricey but good quality, that's what you pay for. And the people there are nice too. Too bad they close on weekends, I would love to have an afternoon coffee on weekends. read more

I really liked the quick and easy aspect of getting food and drink while I was in a hurry. The chicken and avocado salad and chicken noodle soup I had were delicious! Also, I cannot have caffeine and the decaf coffee was so much more rich than typical decafs; I was pleasantly surprised. Wow, I am really impressed, I always whiz past this place in my car on the way to Vapianos or Chipotle. I saw a space in front so I said to myself let me try something different. I am glad I did. I had the spicy Falafel Wrap.. I was amazed. It was so flavorful and did taste fresh. I added a cup of soup as well but given the cost/size ratio I'd probably stick with just the wrap next time. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw Pret A Manger near my office I've got good memories of it from when I was in the UK. This one at the entrance of Farragut West metro station has some tasty soups and salads. I've tried a few of their soups and I always come back for the Moroccan Lentil soup it's my favorite, that and the Hibiscus herbal tea. It doesn't hurt that their customer service is awesome too. read more

Opinion as a customer: This is a great place to grab a quick meal and coffee, the food is good and the staff is friendly, the store is clean. Opinion as a job hunter: the staff is great but the GM needs to start acting like an adult, she ignored me the whole time and never even introduced herself to me, for the first interview she left before I got there, her assistant was kind enough to interview me. Then for the unpaid two hour interview she always bumped in to me and never said excuseme, or thank you for anything, she rolled her eyes at me and never even bothered to tell me her name. It's like she expected me to know her and I had never even met her. And btw it ended up being 3hours of unpaid work, which I didn't know it was unpaid until the end of the interview. Pret in D.C. Finally! This is how much I love Pret - I drove 30 minutes out of my way, then drove round and round the streets surrounding the Farragut West metro 18th Street Exit looking for parking, then walked 8 blocks to/from pret when I found parking. Then I did the whole thing again the next day and the next and the next (until I was so late for work I decided I'd better limit myself to once or twice a week). I work far from a metro station so I can't take the metro and I'm so envious of those of you who can. I'm a huge pret fan and when I am in NY, I eat lunch and dinner there most days. From their advertising "Basically, we are a cross between a good restaurant, an Italian coffee bar and a bullet train. (Hey, multiple personalities are better than none at all.)" The only reason I didn't give them five stars is because the coffee at the NY Prets takes you straight to Italy or France. Seriously, the beans, the temperature of the milk, the bite of the first sip, down the very last gulp is as good if not better than every coffee I have ever had at the best coffee places in Europe. I was waiting for this in D.C. I've now been to DC Pret ten times, hoping, hoping, hoping. Although the sandwiches, salads, soups, and everything else is mouth wateringly wonderful, exactly like the NY branches, this first DC branch hasn't got the coffee right yet. On my third visit, I got talking to some NY locals who'd stopped by. They didn't realize this Pret was new to DC, but they had the same issue I did - one of them asked for an extra shot for his coffee, tthey remade it happily, but it still wasn't right. We tried to talk to the manager about this, but he said, (in a way that was a little robotic), he was using the same system as in NY - not so my friend, something's different. Taste the NY coffee, taste your own. Yours is a tad on the weak side. Please correct it! (Another great thing about Pret is that they read and listen to reviews like this!) Anyhow, folks, this is how much I love Pret, even if they don't fix the coffee, mugs like me will still be back again and again and again. Pret is awesome. Two other requests. (1) PLEASE more locations. And perhaps a few on the 95 corridor from NY to DC - plenty of yuppie, expensive sandwich coffee loving freaks with huge amounts of disposable income live in Howard County, MD, for example!!!!! (One of the wealthiest but most Pret deprived counties in the US). (2) The sandwiches at the US Prets are a bit dryer than in the UK.
