Heres the story. They close the office at 630. I was clearing out my old unit at another location and just arrived at 6:32. Yes 2 mins after closing. Had a truck and 2 cars full of crap. I open the door and ask if they're closed, the guy behind the desk looks up and says yes...but with a small pause says he can check me in and even waited while we loaded the unit. I misunderstood the office closing time and the gate closing time (7pm). Jesse went above and beyond and saved what could've been a shitty time in the moving adventures. I have had 2 units here for over a year. I'm finally moving out now. as far as storage places go, I really like this place. first of all it's super convenient location just off the 5 freeway and the people that work there are very kind and enjoyable to talk to. I was there all the time and usually had to bring my dog which they never complained about even though there wasn't supposed to be any pets. they closed at 7 every night and sometimes I wasn't paying attention. It they would wait for me. Overall I have nothing but good things to say. All the units were clean and if you get a bigger unit they might have lighting. Highly recommend. They may not be the cheapest but for convenience it was worth it read more

DO NOT RENT HERE! They raise rent without notice and there is rat poop all over the units! They gave me an initial rate of $120 ish a month for a closet room of storage space (5x10) which was fine for the time as this is about the average in San Diego. WITHOUT NOTICE they raised the date to $160! When I called the guy told me they notified me via email, they did not. The little girl in the office called me back to tell me the guy was wrong and they mailed it. They did it. NO NOTICE WAS GIVEN EITHER WAY, so I told her to cancel my account and we got our stuff out the next week. THEY THEN ILLEGALLY charged my account for this month WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. I have filed fraud with my bank and will be filing against the office manager as well. This place is ghetto and fraudulent. RENT ELSEWHERE. read more

This place is at a great location if you're in PB, or by access from the 5. For the location it is fairly priced. I have three units here and I have tried many in the area. I had a moving pick-up scheduled on New Years Eve Day, and of coarse the truck was a little late. The staff "Marco" stayed an extra 20 mins with no complaints and turned down a tip for the troubles. Predatory Price Increases -- Beware I've been a customer since early 2023, and what started as a fair rate has now more than doubled--without any improvements to the unit or facility. The storage itself is basic, but the business model is where the real issue lies. They reel you in with a decent introductory rate, then gradually--and sometimes not so gradually--jack up the rent with barely any notice. It's a classic bait-and-switch tactic. I understand inflation, but this goes well beyond reasonable. If you're considering storing your things here, just know the price you start with is not the price you'll be paying six months later--and it won't stop. I'd recommend anyone looking for storage get in writing what your long-term rate will be--or be prepared to pack up and move when the price inevitably spikes. read more

STORAGE UNITS ARE NOT SAFE - My roommate and I started renting our storage unit in December 2024 and stored all our expensive items inside the unit. It only took a few weeks before getting a call from the Storage facility manager notifying us that our storage unit was broken into and raided. Nobody knew what I stored in that unit besides me and the security cameras... you can fill in the gaps. I wouldn't trust this facility one bit and will recommend to everyone to avoid renting from this facility and/or any other facility. read more

Front desk associate is incredibly rude. The associate has been rude and unprofessional across multiple experiences. After renting a storage unit from this location and emptying my unit, I received a call stating my unit was unlocked and empty. I confirmed that I would return to close the account before the renewal period. Upon arriving at the facility to cancel my unit, the front desk associate aggressively stated that I said I never communicated with them and they closed my account and stated I wasn't allowed to rent from this location again. Which is entirely false as I did communicate that I would return and I indeed returned before the renewal date. I did not receive any further voicemails or communication that they claimed to have done. I have no interest in working with this business and their associates anyways. Save your time and energy and go anywhere else. read more

I just purchased a unit, I needed a unit closed to where I moved to in PB. Sandy helped me out and she was great! Very sweet and did not pressure me in to getting a bigger unit that what I needed. They closed the place randomly without further notice, and I was planning to get my belongings and couldn't get it so that becomes a problem because people DO HAVE A SCHEDULE. My previous review pertained to the new management. That was until I flew down from seattle to retrieve some of my personal records and documents to find they cut my lock and sold my stuff in auction. They claimed this was done because they couldn't get ahold of me because my card had expired. If this were the case, the law states all personal records must be returned. Nothing was kept or returned to me. Also, they keep a master key to your unit, and had multiple items going missing upon each visit to my unit. Do not trust these people! read more

Update: Complete crooks, I've just had ANOTHER price increase. I got my unit in April 2018 with $141 total monthly cost. My current bill is $179 after just a year. I will change to a different storage complex as soon as it's feasible for me. Do NOT use this place if you are looking for long term. Terrible practices. This current increase was ridiculous. I've only had my current unit for four months and the rent just increased $13 per month. Any complaints to management will simply yield an apathetic, "This practice is standard across the industry... if you look at your contract..." Yes, I've read and understand the contract. I always wondered what the cool building across the street from the PB In N Out Burger was. You know the one with the giant surfer on the side of it. Well it is Price Self Storage. I have zero experience to compare renting this storage unit to as it is my first one, but when Ruggy left he hit me with his giant garage of Yelp paraphernalia that I had no where to put. I called around to a few places and decided to go with this one because of the proximity to my apt and professionalism of the gent who answered the phone. It's really not a bad deal. They give you the first month free as long as you stay for two months. Other than that there is no lease terms. You can leave whenever you want as long as you give 15 days notice. It ended up costing me about $70 a month for a 5x10 space, which isn't too bad considering they stay open a bit later than other places in the area. (8am-7pm) Heck, if I ever get really down on my luck I'm going to rent some space and live there. The same guy from the phone showed me around. He was pretty knowledgeable of the operation and really friendly. They have courtesy carts there to help you load and unload as long as you leave something for collateral. Unfortunately, they wouldn't accept yelpsticks or a Yelp banner, so I had to cough up my ID. So far, this storage unit has been a good experience but it is to be continued, as I'm sure there is a possibility of problems when I depart. Until then so far so good........... read more

Who cares that you have a surfing photo on your building? Just because you're trying to capture the attention of people who like surfing doesn't mean you give a damn about your customers. This place provides terrible customer service, and here's why... We called last week well before Easter Sunday to confirm we would be able to access our storage unit since it was a holiday. We assumed we would not be able to. To our surprise, both Uhaul and Price Storage confirmed they would be open and ready to help us with our move. We planned our entire trip back from Denver Colorado around being able to move in on Sunday so we could get to work on Monday. The Uhaul pickup was a breeze, however, Price Storage in PB was closed. The on-site (live in) managers were absolutely no help and couldn't care less. Now we had to deal with being exhausted from 16hrs of driving with no way to get our beds or other belongings. On Monday we went back to Price Storage moved out our stuff and asked about how we could file a complaint as we were charged for additional Uhaul days and missed work on Monday. The lady who worked there was no help, and obnoxiously rude. She even said, "Why didn't you check the sign that was posted on the gate before you arrived?" Maybe she was deaf, dumb, or both, but driving back from Denver, CO to San Diego, CA makes it damn near impossible to read a sign glued to your shop in SD... Seriously, was she even listening to me? If you EVER NEED TO FILE A COMPLAINT ABOUT THIS BUSINESS IN SOCAL you will for sure be directed to David Ackershott. (Read other negative reviews below to confirm this.) He's a pompous regional manager who doesn't give a shit about customer service. He clearly didn't care about my situation and even tried to deny the woman who was rude to me worked at Price Storage. Unless these people are passing out wrong names and give two shits about their customers, there's something seriously wrong with this business... Moral of the story, there's a boat load of storage companies around San Diego. It just so happens that Price Storage is run by people who don't care about their customers. I have a friend who is in the military and they tried to trick him into signing a doc for a discount that waives his rights as a service member so that if he is overseas and something happens they have the right to sell off all of his stuff. Luckily he was too smart to sign it, but SHAME ON PRICE SELF STORAGE for trying to take advantage of our military. WOW. I am shocked. Also, we signed up under the specifications that we could have 24 hour access since we have crazy schedules and when we went after hours at 8:30pm, we didn't have access. Price increases multiple times per year. My rent has gone from $78/month to $142/month. If they give you a price deal going in, it will be raised before you bat an eye. It is cheaper to rent a bigger house with a garage than to do business with these people. Even if you refer them business, your rate and their rate will continue to increase. Even if you beg the district manager to cut you a break because your rent keeps going up with the storage, you will be denied. They don't need your business and they make you feel like that each month. The people at the front desk are nice, most of the time. read more

Jacking up loyal customers rent every other month to price them out of the unit is a great business model. Also having the same person on social media tell the customers they were never "guaranteed that price for life" is pretty aggravating. Nobody is that stupid to think that so stop patronizing your customers. New customers are what matter to them, not loyal ones. At this rate my small unit would cost me $250 a month in about two years. I review businesses when I am happy, very few businesses get complaints from me unless they are well deserved. What you are doing to your loyal customers is greedy and arrogant. I didn't realize the cost of living went up every month in your world.
