Incredible rates!!! When I was in transition moving from bird rock to north county San Diego, I needed to store my belongings somewhere temporarily. All the rates at other places were absolutely outrageous, and unreasonable in my opinion. A-1 storage was the best!! The facility is new and it's super clean. There is camera security and pin code access only into the facility. There are Dolly's to move heavier boxes and objects. Elevator access is super convenient and large. The lock system is safe and I always felt safe coming here. The staff is caring and helpful and everything can be processed online. I highly HIGHLY recommend this place! read more

Wish I could give this place more than 5 stars! Some moving friendly tips: forget the U-Haul!! This location in PB Offers a truck for your use (call for pricing & availability) but it saved me so much time (and money). Thankfully, I went to check out the unit/sign paper work before going to U-Haul to pick up the truck. In the parking lot, I noticed a truck that said "we move you free". While checking in, I asked Jennifer what that was all about. It's a new service that this location is offering -- with a dolly. Saved me from having to go back and fourth. I called and cancelled the U-Haul immediately. Another trip... if you're on a time crunch, go and do all the paperwork and see where your unit is before moving. That way, when you come back, just use your user-friendly code to access the flatbed Dolly's and move your things into your unit. I called around to other A1 locations and this was the cheapest (different locations = different prices on units). The rep I spoke to on the phone let me have the internet price (which is cheaper than walking in). Jennifer and her coworker were beyond helpful and made my move into the storage unit easy!! Clean unit. And awesome 80s music through out the facility. I got a medium sized unit. The main reason for getting a unit was because of my queen size mattress. That, along with the box spring fit in my unit with plenty of storage space around. (I only had 1bedroom worth of stuff). -- Thanks l again Jennifer for all of your help!!! read more

I had to leave A-1 storage a review because I was so impressed with their services and the facility. I moved abroad from San Diego and stored my items with them for 18 months. Moving in was easy, they communicated as needed while I was away, and I just came back last week to all of my storage just as I found it. Jennifer helped me out initially and she was fantastic. The facility itself is incredibly clean and new; I definitely felt that my belongings were safe and secure. The prices are also very fair--I did substantive research. Excellent value for the price, convenience, and peace of mind, knowing you can pre-pack (in our case, we needed to clear things out from 2 sheds in our backyard in a property we rent). I have been able to do 2 small loads in my car within 30 minutes starting at 6:15 am. We live 4 minutes away from A-1. Pre-load your car the night before, know what your next load is, then go! Rolling flatbed carts are available at A-1. Even when I am the only one at the storage, the 80's jams playing inside the building is nice. I think if it were silent, it might be creepy, so keep the music! =) And a clean and modern bathroom is available next to the office if you need it. The staff inside are very friendly and accommodating. We started with a 10X15 on the 3rd floor and within 24 hours, realized we needed more space. We were able to get a 10x30 on the 1st floor and moved everything from one storage to another in 2 and a half hours (3 people). You are given 24 hours to make the move. We had plenty of time! Tips: Availability is 6 am - 10 pm everyday. Sonic parking spots are available in the A-1 entrance if needed. You are allowed to make a left hand turn from Balboa Ave into A-1, crossing a double yellow line because you ARE entering a business. I rented a small storage unit here for 7 months. Nearly all of the staff was courteous and kind every time I needed them. The facility is very clean and well maintained. It is a little difficult to access because of the wretched PB traffic on Garnet if you are coming from the beach but there eventually is a break in the traffic. This storage unit is the nicest I've ever used. They have a check-in for a few free boxes which is nice. They always have dollies available to load and unload your items. Their facilities are clean and their employees are extremely helpful. The two downsides to this self-storage are the location and the cleanliness of the units. Because of the street, it is on, you can only exit to the right and it is quite difficult to U-turn. I also encountered cockroaches and a spider egg in my belongings. Luckily I spotted them before I brought my things home. Insects are quite common in self-storage units so I can't really be that mad. I simply advise everyone to either bug bomb their belongings a day before you clear out or throughly check your belongings before you bring it home. read more
