Where do I begin? We came to Prime Cut with a group of friends with high anticipation for the New Years Eve feast. After we were seated, it took over 20 minutes before we were even approached for drinks. In that time, I decided to go out to the bar in the casino where the same drinks were considerably cheaper anyway. Strange that in the same casino, the same drink can be $5-$7 more in the restaurant. The dinner was to be a six course meal. First they brought a goose pate out. When I asked the waiter what it was he said something about goose fat. When I asked him if it was liver, he said no. This was pate. I do not eat liver, so I passed. Next course was a single undercooked and cold piece of scallop with a raw jalapeno on top. Not good. Next course, they brought out a cold, grayish brown colored lobster bisque with not a bit of lobster. Also, no soup spoon even after asking for one. Let me tell you, this tasted like lobster flavored water and it was cold. The most terrible dish of the night. Now they brought out a melted champagne flavored sorbet of some kind. Tasted okay, but was half melted and watery. Now onto the main course. A filet topped with bearnaise and a lump crab. The bearnaise was cold, and way too much of it was poured all over my cold, mushy steak. I've had better steaks at Sizzler, no joke. The mash potatoes were even cold. What the hell, I thought. Can they not bring me something warm and delicious to eat? The bearnaise was so thickly laid on the steak that it made the whole dish way too rich, and with the soft mushy meat, the meal was pretty much inedible. Finally the dessert came out, and it was okay, but nothing spectacular. Now the bill came out. My wife had ordered one drink. I was surprised to see that after charging us $270 before tax and tip, that they had the gall to charge us $2.00 for the ice cubes she had in her vodka cranberry. Terrible topper to an uneventful terrible dinner. Needless to say, we will be heading back to the steakhouses at Barona and Viejas from now on. This restaurant should get new management, a new menu, new staff training, and a new chef. For having a set dinner menu, they were completely unprepared for this evening. The meal took almost 3 hours, and felt like 6. This is a one and done for us, and we would never recommend this restaurant to any of our friends or family. read more

Very disappointed with our experience here last night. In case you don't want to read our whole experience: place is really nice, customer service needs work and food is disappointing. When we arrived the hostess was nice. The place was empty and we were seated right away. A server came to our table with ice water and up to that point, everything was perfect. Then our server came with our menus. Half of my menu was wet but I just wiped it up with my napkin(should of know that was a sign of things to come). We weren't that hungry, so we decided to make our order simple. A cesar salad and 10 oz filet minion for us to share. After we ordered they brought over some bread with butter. The bread was very bland and mushy. The butter was nothing special. I am used to my bread having a little toast on the outside but this has none of that. While we were waiting for our salad, a manager (I assume she is a manager) went over to the table near us and ask the couple how their meal was. I thought we would get the same service but we did not. By the time our salad came out, we had already gone thru two breads. The cesar salad was okay, the crouton was really hard (but that is sometimes person preference). We waited even longer for the steak. During our time waiting, not once did our server check in with us. Our steak did finally come out but usually when I am spending that much money on a steak, the sever will wait for me to cut into my steak and make sure everything is perfect, but not here. Again, the server was no where to be found. The steak had no seasoning and the outside of the steak was charcoal. Who burns a filet? This was the most disappointing part. When we finished the steak we had four strips of meat that were inedible. We thought the manager would come by our table and ask us how things were; then we would show her the pieces of charcoal so they would be able to talk to their chef about it. But no one asked, not even our server. After waiting even longer I ended flagging down our waiter. He come over and I told him how disappointing the steak was, showed him the pieces of charcoal on my plate and asked for our check. He said "oh, okay"; took out plate and left. A couple minutes later our server came back with our check. He did offer to give us a free desert but we declined. Service already took way too long and all we wanted to do was leave and gamble. read more

When you come out of town to a place where you're going to spend money in the casino and enjoy a nice dinner, Prime Cut buffet is not exactly prime. I offered my wife to go and check out a nice Steakhouse such as Prime Cut for our anniversary dinner. To our surprise, the famous 4.5 star restaurant was a roadside crab buffet. The food variety was terrible. (How many chicken combinations can you make). There were more staff people than the number of food trays available. There were kettles of food where the lids were about 10lbs each and people couldn't or didn't want to bother lifting. The tiny crab stand had one tray of each cold and hot crab served by someone. The crab legs were small. The butter was oily and Cajun butter was Cajun butter looked like Motor oil. The rest of the buffet was not to par. This buffet concept requires experienced chefs with a set theme. Stop trying to offer a buffet if you're going to serve food in a common walkway. If you don't have space then don't do it. I paid a little over $100 for dinner for 2 where we would have done better at Emeralds Chinese food for less than half the price and be happy. Please Prime Cut, "Be the steakhouse". read more

The first time I went, I had the Crab Louie Salad and it was absolutely amazing. Last night, I went back craving the same salad and it was buffet night. WARNING: YOU CANNOT ORDER FROM THE MENU ON BUFFET NIGHT. So, I opted for the crab leg buffet. The butter wasn't real butter and lacked flavor. It tasted more like butter flavored oil. I had the customized shrimp alfredo w/ penne pasta. Tasted okay, but nothing special. I also had the toffee chocolate bread pudding- was the best thing that night, just a tad sweet. Customer Service has to be one of my top 3 things I look for when I dine out. Our waitress Iydeen was AMAZING! Extremely attentive and made stellar recommendations. In all honestly the food was okay but the service we received from lydeen made us forget about the tough and bland steak we ate. If you are planning on dinning here, ask to be seated in her section. For a high end location inside of a cool casino-- it needs more UMPH! Took a to-go stack home with garlic chicken and spaghetti along with salad. I didn't mind the long wait but when I got home with my heart full of desire to enjoy the high end fare, I was left truly saddened and disappointed. The chicken was completely bland with no garlic taste, aftertaste or seasoning. The garnishes tasted awful as if the chef forgot to add ingredients to the prep- carrots tomatoes and garlic all lacked flavor. Spaghetti and meatballs was flavorless and bland. The salads were stale and smelled awful - within two minutes of tasting I threw away all the boxes and my dinner evening was done. I like this casino cause it has a special persona and one on one feel. But the food needs attention. I'd suggest management jump in and dine here randomly and taste all the dishes before serving. This is, by far, the best fine dining restaurant in East County. I will not hesitate to come back here. Our server was Iydeen and she we was terrific! I had a credit, so I brought my sister for dinner. We did not have a reservation, so they gave us a reservation for a half hour later. Maybe a ploy to get us to gamble- we did. I recommend that you make reservations, because as soon as people figure out this place is here, it will be difficult to get in. So the wedge salad was really good! the jumbo shrimp cocktail was amazing, and the sea scallops were perfect! Iydeen recommended the sides (mash potatoes) and mixed vegetables. They were amazing too. Tonight I dined at one of my favorite restaurants. Greeted with a warm welcome by the manager Dennis and host Laura. My server tonight was Sandy, she was great. I took the opportunity to try a couple of new items off the new menu. Before dinner had a table side visit from the Executive Chef Keoni. We talked about some of the new menu items. I decided to try the Korean brazed short rib. It was amazing. Head Chef Cheryl and her team once again took it to the next level. After my main course I had a table side visit from Chef Cali, the head pastry chef. We reviewed the new desserts on the menu. I decided to try the 24 layer chocolate cake. The place does not have have good service and the steaks are just ok and not that good. There are not that many people there and now I know why. It is overpriced. The service is slow and the steaks have too much seasoning on them and. An be burned. The kitchen staff really sucks and should be trained to learn how to cook. Last night we enjoyed the Lobster Buffet and it was terrific! They offered the traditional steamed lobster tail which was sweet and tender, plus a lightly fried version that was very good, too! In addition, there was a perfectly roasted prime rib, a perfectly-cooked salmon and a nice, juicy ham at the carving station. You could also have salad, soup, sushi as well as lumpia, carnitas, and more. Our server, Idene, was very accommodating and gave excellent service from start to finish ... oh, and speaking of the finish, the dessert bar had the most incredible white chocolate-strawberry fudge ever ... can't wait to go back! read more

This was our first visit to the restaurant. We've come up to the casino before (but only once). Husband had a $50 comp, so we thought we'd give it a try. Erica was super nice when we first walked up. Apparently it's better to make reservations, but they had a table for us. Dylan, our waiter was really helpful with the menu, had a wonderful personality and even brought us an extra little soup! We ended up ordering a salad and the grilled prawns with some Mac and cheese to share. Definitely worth it. Husband forgot his debit card at the restaurant, they gave it to security for us. My husband and I had the seafood buffet tonight. Kimberly, the hostess was very welcoming. The lobster was good, but the highlight of my meal was the shrimp sweet potato pesto pasta prepared by Jusimi. It was a culinary delight!! I also had the butternut sage soup which was also divine. On April 14th 2021 Janna gave us the best service possible. We hadn't been out for close to 10 Months, and decided to come back to Prime cut. I always base my opinion & observations on any business by the first impression I get from our server. I'm a firm believer in " only getting (1) shot to gain my repeat business. And let me state unequivocally that Janna Knocked it out the park. Her pleasant and warm energy was amazing. She paid close attention to our needs and checked on us throughout the entire meal. Her Customer skills are top of the line, She even dazzled us at the end of the meal with an awesome dessert. let me also state that the Ambiance and food presentation created by the Chef was impeccable! And The Manager obviously has what a takes to run a smooth operation and that's a direct effect on the training both him and & Chef gives the entire staff. Food is excellent but food takes forever even when only a few tables occupied, server blamed it on the fact that one of the guest at our table ordered their steak medium and not medium rare like the rest of the table! We have been 4 times always the same long wait for food. This brunch buffet just keeps getting better and better!! The dessert pastries have become the star of the show. Layered raspberry cake bites, cobblers from heaven, and lots of tiny works of edible art that make it all worth while. Thanks to the pastry chef for really stepping up their game. Furthermore, they've added lobster tails, which just puts things over the top. This is now a formidable buffet that rivals all others. I came last night with my boyfriend and had the most wonderful evening. We were greeted right away and taken to our table for two. All the tables are spaced out perfectly that you can't hear other peoples conversations. Ooo when we walked in, it smelled of cake. our server Anthony explained the menu and helped pick out a few wine choices. There was a women singing live music at the perfect sound level. We order an appetizer, two salads, two steaks and to sides. The calamari came out and it was the perfect crispness and they brought out a huge plate that we couldn't finish. Anthony could see that we were slowing down on the app and came to see how we were and asked if we were ready for the salads. I hate when the waiters bring the next course when you aren't done with the first. So I appreciated Anthony being attentive. The salads were dressed perfectly. Then right before our steaks came out Anthony came over with a box of amazing steak knives and explained each one and let us pick which we wanted. What a great idea! My Uncle and I attended the new Chef's Table last night with Chef Cheryl. From start to finish she came out welcomed us and gave table side explanations of each course. Everything was fantastic! Items that are not on the menu and things i have never tasted before. She even ran back after hearing of food allergies and whipped something even better up for me! We were a party of 4 and sat outside on the patio the views and ambience were Amazing. Antoine our Server was on point! He made our first experience the BEST ever and WE will be back. He is friendly, professional, and soooo knowledgeable. His passion for his job was one of the best we have experienced in YEARS!! You come to the casino and spend a couple of hundred dollars gambling and want to enjoy a meal but they take forever to serve you food. The service was good but food menu not good at all. Might as well go to San Diego and enjoy a meal or to Valle de Guadalupe across the border 30 min away and enjoy a world class meal among the vibeyards. read more

I was very disappointed in my steak. I was given a free dinner for 2 from the casino and was very excited to get a nice juicy steak. I ordered a ribeye and wanted it medium/rare. My uncle ordered the same thing. His steak came out absolutely perfect and was a great cut and cooked medium rare. Mine was overcooked with no pink color and a very fatty cut. The complete opposite of my Uncles. I am usually not very picky but I wanted an amazing steak. The waitress took it back and verified it was put in as medium/rare and brought me another one very quickly which was another poor cut and very fatty and undercooked rare. I ended up eating two bites of my Uncles which was amazing and not eating my steak. The service was good but I am unsure how such a nice steak restaurant could bring two very different steaks when we ordered the exact same thing. They did not charge me for mine which did not make up for it since the meal was free from the casino anyway. I just wanted a great well cooked to order steak. read more

It was super disappointing, in my first and ONLY experience here, as I will never return here again. I was referred here by a friend due to what was claimed to be THE best filet mignon. This is a very pricey place so one would expect perfection for a $41 dollar 8oz and a $9 baked potato. Medium well is a pink center. Well done is brown top to bottom. Though I ordered medium well, I got a charred well done, brown all the way through, no pink. What a bummer. Yes, I could have re ordered it, to the risk of embarrassing my spouse, and then having to wait an additional 20 minutes to get it cooked right, then my baked potato is cold. The service was not great either. I order extra butter and chives and then have to wait to get that as well, post delivery of my burned steak and $9 potato. What a bummer, and to have to walk through a smoke filled lobby/casino to get to it...............no thank you. read more

Terrible service! Lackluster food. Steaks are under seasoned, unevenly cooked. Never had a worse steakhouse experience. Over an hour wait for food in an empty restaurant where our drinks were forgotten, sides served cold....accompaniments even colder. Who did you pay to write the reviews?!?!?! The only way this place survives is because of the casino comps it gives its gamblers. Not worthy or calling yourselves a steakhouse...quite frankly, would rather wait an hour at the establishments downtown than ever return here. Like I said before...worse steakhouse in town...save your money and gift a black Angus, food will be better seasoned, serve rd hot and your service wint suck!!!! read more

My family and I have been coming up for Sunday buffet for the past two months. We absolutely love the food here. Since my sister and I do not eat seafood, its refreshing that there are so many options to eat! Jusimi is amazing at her station, whether its brunch omelettes, or dinner pasta! Her passion for cooking shines through her food. Her sweet potato pesto was absolutely perfect last week, hope it becomes a staple!! Alexa also never fails to disappoint with the food she makes, shout out to the bacon soup she made a few weeks ago!! That should make the menu forever! Service is always excellent, Dennis was awesome helping with an issue today, mad props to Jackie for always being attentive to our needs, and Ye and Chastity for being such awesome waiters. We look forward to Sunday funday every week, and Prime Cut is always our favorite part!! read more

We had dinner there on Sunday 10/6/19 and loved Jusimi who was handling the Pasta station. She made everything perfect. We have eaten there for the Sunday Brunch when she is working the Omelet station and just love her. My mother wanted over easy eggs and it was no problem for her to make them. So disappointed! So to be fair I have high standards having worked as a GM but I'm also aware that things happen and I can overlook a pain point or two during a new dining experience. So many things about this place are disappointing though! 1. Prices are high! 50 bucks for a NY! I'm ok paying for great food and service but what we got from start to finish was subpar. 2. Not to be snooty but when dinner for 3 is 300+ bucks it's strange to me that people can wear sweats and flip flops ( strange crowd and ambience) 3. Server took forever to come over to greet us and the busser who first greeted us was standoffish and didn't smile once....weird...a bit uncomfortable 4. First course my soup was hardly warm but plate was piping, assuming it was sitting under heat lamp for a while. 5. Server brought us gelato due to the cold soup and the ridiculously long wait for 2 medium rare steaks and crab legs. The food took forever! It was a nice gesture but also a bit futile and strange. I'm all for pallet cleansing but we were starving and bread or something slightly more substantial would have been wonderful. 6. My steak was tough, full of gristle, and worst of all lacking flavor/bland. 7. Again service to get the check and close was so slow! Highlight of the night was the key lime pie! It was tart and flavorful...delicious! Overall, I would recommend a place like the smoking goat or if you're in the Jamul area heading over to eastlake to savoie; both places have much better service and really good food and drinks. Made my way back to the Sunday lobster buffet today. Was extremely happy to see they moved everything inside the restaurant, having it out in the casino floor really wasn't my favorite. Is it worth $50? Not a chance, but free is always hard to complain about. My server was amazing, except I'm not big on when they circle the tip portion when they are collecting the bill up front. Maybe some shrimp mixed in would be good? I'm actually doing the Keto thing right now so I could find adequate options on the breakfast stuff and steak. I may make my way to the crab legs buffet, but honestly only if it is helped out by or provided by the casino. read more
