We made reservations for 8:30. We arrived around 8:20 and was told we would not be seated because they were busy and our reservation would not be honored. The two hostesses were not helpful and looked confused. A manager came out and explained that they were busy. A couple behind us asked about sitting at the bar, which was not offered to us. Had an outstanding experience at Prime Cut . It started when we walked through the doors. The dining area was beautifully designed, but the outdoor patio caught my eye. We dined on the patio all alone which was simply perfect as we celebrated our 32nd Wedding Anniversary. Nature being our backdrop with the beautiful views of the sunkissed mountains and the soft music playing in the background was the perfect prelude to what was to come. The food was divine, hats off to the Chef on her preparation and presentation of our meal. It started with the massive icebed used for our appetizers Shrimp Cocktail and Oysters. For our main course we dined on Lamb Colorado with a blood orange reduction sauce , sauteed bitter greens with fingerling potatoes and the New York steak with wild mushrooms, garlic and pearl onions was just splendid . Our fabulous and attentive waitress Misty was the best and made our experience so special. As the sun gave way to the starry night sky, the Pastry Chef created this 3 tier decadent carrot cake with candied carrot crystals and dehydrated carrot shaving on top. My mom frequently plays at Jamul Casino and through her amazing host, she was able to get us a nice dinner at Prime Cut in one of their private rooms which had an AMAZING view ! We got a bottle of the Alexander Cabernet wine and it tasted delicious highly recommend it! I ordered the shrimp bisque which was delicious and very creamy highly recommend ! For the mail Entree I ordered the 10oz sirloin with chimichurri on the side and mushrooms and onions on top! Each steak comes with choice of sauce! My steak tasted great it was a big portion though and i was too full to finish. For sides, i got the loaded baked potato which came with sour creams, cheese, bacon, and green onions super good ! Along with the mac and cheese which came fresh from the oven and remained hot through the entire meal ! But they seem to be a shortage of Braised Short ribs on a Friday night because these past two Friday nights we dinned at 6:00 PM and both nights our server told us that they were sold out... The Steakhouse opens at 5:00 PM. In less then an hour you ran out of Braised Short ribs...To top things off...On the first Friday night, this older couple who were seated next to us arrived at 6:15 PM and ordered the Braised Short ribs was told a very different story. The Braised Short ribs are not quite ready but will be in 15 more minutes. So I ended up ordering a Ribeye and a side of mashed potatoes. The second Friday night I tried my luck again, this time arriving at 6:15 and was told that the Braised Short ribs and now the stuffed Maine lobster was sold out. After I've informed my server that I dined here last week and was told the items were sold out and about a couple who arrived after us had gotten that mysteriously sold out item for dinner story. He went back to the kitchen and came back to our table and said that the stuffed Maine lobsters are being boiled and should be another 10 minutes but the Braised Short ribs are all sold out for the evening. So the second Friday I had to order the Stuffed Pork chop. Will be back this Friday...so make sure my Braised Short ribs are ready by 6:15 PM read more

We went in on a Saturday night with a group of 8 and had a GREAT experience at Prime Cut. Beautiful restaurant and views. We love Jamul Casino - it's our new favorite casino in SoCal. Our server, Christina G., was phenomenal and did an outstanding job from start to finish. Only reason I'm holding back a star is that it took some time to get a menu. They aren't handed out when seated. That, however, was my only lament. The ambience was nice, upscale. Piano player in the corner was a nice touch. We had a booth, so romantic. We actually could hear ourselves talk. Our server, Paloma, very sweet and knowledgeable. We decided to split a Rib eye/lobster dinner and a salad, which was plenty for the both of us. The salad, simple, lightly dressed in a vinaigrette that was so subtle, it enhanced the greens, leaving you craving another bite. The platter came with a huge rib eye, nice size lobster tail, asparagus, blistered cherry tomatoes, and a smattering of mashed potatoes that we almost missed as they were under the asparagus. It came with a cherry bourbon glaze, very different from anything I've had to accompany a steak, it was divine! Everything cooked to perfection. The highlight for me, was that amazing wine list. They carried a sparkling wine that is hard to find, Iron Horse, which has always been one of my favorites. We were fortunate to get the last bottle. I was so excited! I enjoyed every last sip. Too full to enjoy dessert, husband had a coffee with Bailey's. He was happy. Looking forward to coming back to try the seafood. (and to give it another star!) I had experience and wanted to make sure and he told me we be fine. When we showed up to order Togo, they told me there was a special even just happened. Bull fk shet. I went to Prime Cut For the second time because I believe in giving everybody a second chance and my first experience was not so great. But this time oh my goodness. Kathrine was our waitress and I highly recommend you requestvher area if availible...she went OVER AND ABOVE... It started when she started to explain the menu we thought it would take about a minute she spent a good 3 to 4 minutes really explaining it...This did not happen the first time. I don't do this for many places but Prime Cut deserves a special nod. Normally I would recommend a special place like this for a memory worthy celebration but the mind blowing textures and flavors are not meant to be held back for just those special events. Jamul demands a collection of all pallets based on food plating and areomatic presentation alone. The crab legs were juicy and thick with slices of freshly grilled lemon halves. The prime rib (we got it without any added 'style') stood alone with its bold flavor and a surface area to almost completely cover the entire plate. It arrived at the perfectly requested medium rare, while our server asked us to taste it and proceeded to wait to make sure it was exactly to our liking. The real show stopper of the night was the maiden voyage of their truffle trio. We were served a trio of 3 exquisite chocolate truffles all able to make you gasp in delight. What really took the cake, no pun intended, was the amazing presentation. The trio was served on a raised glass platter amidst a smokey illusion of a mythical secret garden decorated with the most precious edible flowers and fresh rosemary sprigs. It was one of the most special dessert platings I have ever seen. If you consider yourself a foodie on any level, you deserve to experience a meal at Prime Cut. The service is not only top notch with notable hospitality but a welcoming feel that one could only imagine. Iydeen was so friendly and made sure we had everything we could possibly want and more. By visiting Prime Cut, I imagine it is the same feeling as showing up to a doorstep with the snow quietly falling in the distance and the door opening to full hearted laughter of family and friends and a cracking fire in the hearth. A friend and I ate here on Saturday and the food and service were spectacular!!! Iydeen was our server and she was absolutely fabulous!!!! She was knowledgeable about the wine and menu items, gave great recommendations and was attentive without being overbearing. I will definitely ask to have Iydeen as our server again when we come back. We had the cheese board, shrimp cocktail, heirloom tomato salad, filet, loaded potatoes, carrot cake and chocolate cake. (We spilt everything and still took 1/2 of it home because our eyes were bigger than our stomachs!) but the filet, potatoes and chocolate cake was definitely a great lunch the next day too! Our server Missy brought us plate after plate of deliciousness without keeping us waiting at all, always with courtesy and a smile. Now in take out mode, I will never sit in this restaurant again. So last week I ordered takeout and it was a porterhouse. It was tough compared to my go to rib-eye. I also ordered the caprese salad, and what do they do they bag it with the hot steak and it melts the cheese and wilts the salad. SMH ‍ bagging 101, really you never bag a cold item with a hot one. Today I go again the order is simple ribeye medium well, shrimp cocktail and two orders of grilled shrimp. I get home and have the steak not cooked long enough and no grilled shrimp. It wasn't even busy. So after waiting 45 min, I assume, I can go home and just eat... not. Had to cook my steak to medium well and wonder if this upscale and overpriced steak house can ever get an order, my order right. Seriously get it together. I will continue to give you bad review if you continue to mess it up. My previous review was on the beef Wellington that they sent out cold and uncooked. They took it off the table before I could take a picture. That was $75, it was gross, when they brought it back they recooked it and in turn burnt the outside crust. My wife and I live in Las Vegas, but have been in San Diego for business for the last year. We have made Prime our "must go to" dinner every week! To say that the staff is excellent is an understatement. When I call, the hostess Laura greets me by name, and when we arrive she makes us feel welcome with a huge smile and really does her job so well. Then, we alternate our servers each week, Chastity and Missy. These wonderful ladies are truly exceptional in the way they approach their craft, we've never experienced such consistently great service anywhere! They have never once failed to make our dining experience "over the top". The steaks are consistently prepared to our liking, and the sides are always fresh and served hot. The manager Dennis obviously knows how to run a restaurant of this caliber, and it shows, especially with the consistency we have experienced each week. We especially Love our waitress, Chastity, who always provides wonderful service! She is always welcoming, receptive to any dietary requests, and provides very professional and prompt service. No matter how busy she is, she always checks back frequently. The support waiters are also friendly and great! Where do I begin? We came to Prime Cut with a group of friends with high anticipation for the New Years Eve feast. After we were seated, it took over 20 minutes before we were even approached for drinks. In that time, I decided to go out to the bar in the casino where the same drinks were considerably cheaper anyway. Strange that in the same casino, the same drink can be $5-$7 more in the restaurant. The dinner was to be a six course meal. First they brought a goose pate out. When I asked the waiter what it was he said something about goose fat. When I asked him if it was liver, he said no. This was pate. I do not eat liver, so I passed. Next course was a single undercooked and cold piece of scallop with a raw jalapeno on top. Not good. Next course, they brought out a cold, grayish brown colored lobster bisque with not a bit of lobster. Also, no soup spoon even after asking for one. Let me tell you, this tasted like lobster flavored water and it was cold. The most terrible dish of the night. Now they brought out a melted champagne flavored sorbet of some kind. Tasted okay, but was half melted and watery. Now onto the main course. A filet topped with bearnaise and a lump crab. The bearnaise was cold, and way too much of it was poured all over my cold, mushy steak. I've had better steaks at Sizzler, no joke. The mash potatoes were even cold. What the hell, I thought. Can they not bring me something warm and delicious to eat? The bearnaise was so thickly laid on the steak that it made the whole dish way too rich, and with the soft mushy meat, the meal was pretty much inedible. Finally the dessert came out, and it was okay, but nothing spectacular. Now the bill came out. My wife had ordered one drink. I was surprised to see that after charging us $270 before tax and tip, that they had the gall to charge us $2.00 for the ice cubes she had in her vodka cranberry. Terrible topper to an uneventful terrible dinner. Needless to say, we will be heading back to the steakhouses at Barona and Viejas from now on. This restaurant should get new management, a new menu, new staff training, and a new chef. For having a set dinner menu, they were completely unprepared for this evening. The meal took almost 3 hours, and felt like 6. This is a one and done for us, and we would never recommend this restaurant to any of our friends or family. read more
