This experience was really only 2 1/2 stars, but as I can't give half points I rounded up as the service really deserves more than 3. We sat at the bar and Nancy took great care of us. We split the Caesar salad and it was quite good. The $69 ribeye, however, fell short. We ordered it medium but it came out rare. After a few bites from the thinner sections we decided not to send it back as although that may have cooked the meat more, it would not have improved the quality. There was little marbeling in the meat, so it was not very tender. For this price, I expected a better quality cut. At least the knives were sharp, so we were able to cut it with only a little effort. A baked potato is the typical side, but they happily replaced this with garlic mashed potato. I would recommend they change the presentation, as the potato came out in the form of 2 scoops. It looked like the mashed potato we used to get in the school cafeteria. The taste was fine, but it was like ordering a lovely glass of wine and having it served in a plastic cup. Everyone who worked there was friendly and helpful, and it seems a spot many locals hang out. read more

Absolutely delicious. We started with escargot & tuna for apps. I got the wagyu beef special for my meal and my husband got surf & turf. We also had the truffle Mac & cheese and broccoli au gratin. Pavel took such a good care of our party and we were so grateful for his humor throughout the meal and guidance on their delicious menu. We sent it back and expected it to be removed from our bill. Nope! In fact, the waiter simply brought us the bill without saying anything about it. He took away a $67 steak, uneaten, and added it to the bill. I had to seek out the manager to finally get it removed from our bill. Poor service about the steak. Great drinks, great appetizers, but terrible steak. Based on how everything was handled, we will not be back. Being from Texas, perhaps I am spoiled on what good meat is. This was not that. So my GF and I snuck out of town for the holiday and headed south to Key West. I kinda figured most joints would be backed up so I made resi's for each night so here's round 1...Prime. It's in a sort of weird spot in an outdoor FLA mall kinda thing but the outside was nice and the bar inside was pretty spacious. And empty. So we ponied up and order led some wine. A delightful bartender got us set up and didn't rush us at all. A Sancerre for $25. Yes, $25. And a decent red blend for $15. Most of the clientele was dressed in t shirts which I thought was odd when the cheapest hunk of meat was about $50. We started w a spinach salad w pancetta. Tasty but not enough pancetta. We decided to share what sounded like an awesome shaved Brussels sprout Asian fusion thing and hash browns as a side. She got a $65 delmonico and I got a $79 "signature" bone in rib eye. Yes, you read the prices correctly. Yes I get it. Covid inflation. High end steak joint. So let's see...the steaks came out and visually impressive. 1st cut and they were both cooked to a perfect med rare. 1st bite? Eh. Just eh. They were lacking any and all flavor. I know you want to let the meat speak for itself but come on. How about some salt to bring out that flavor. Or something. It's a big piece of meat. It needs a little help. The steaks also came w a head of roasted garlic (cold) and a red wine Demi glacé (ok but very thick). The Brussels? Weird. We expected them to be pan seared but they were more steamed than anything w a bunch of other veggies and the soy was a bit overpowering and didn't go all that well w the steaks. Hashed browns? Really good. We finished w a booze-y cheese cake that was very booze-y and cheese-y. All in all solid service, with decent preparation but for $265 I'd probably go somewhere else. Really impressed with the food and the dining experience. I am a person who takes my steak seriously. I was looking for a bite to eat and this was the prime candidate. I ordered the fillet cooked at medium. The steak was cooked to perfection. The outside was beautifully seared and the inside was tender, it cut like butter like literally like butter. The bread that they offer is quite delicious too so do not forget to try it. I was really satisfied with the service and the politeness of the staff. The ambiance is great, and the service is exceptional. however the food, not so much especially for the price. the reservations were completely booked online and when we tried calling multiple times on 2 separate days, it went straight to voicemail. luckily my friends and i had met a group a guys that had reservations and were able to add us to their reservation. 3 of the 4 of us got the filet and we all thought it was pretty mediocre. the worst was the side of "garlic" mash potatoes. they tasted like mash potatoes out of the box. zero flavor. so yea not horrible but not impressed either. read more

We were in are in Key West for 4 nights. We decided to go to this restaurant on the recommendation of a friend. We had been to the sunset and walked all the way from Mallory Square. When we arrived ( now granted we were still in shorts) we were met by a male hostess. I didn't get his name because I was in the back of our group of 5. He proceeded to look at us and immediately asked "how many"? We said 5. He responded with, "I'm sorry we don't have any room for 5" even though I saw many open tables. He again said "I'm so sorry", it was 6:30 pm, no can I have a name? No nothing. He judged us and sent us away. However he judged wrong. We travel frequently and we love Key West. I will never return to Prime Steakhouse. I will tell our friends of our experience and I will continue to express my thoughts about this establishment. We went down the street to Harpoon Harry's. They were Awesome. We highly recommend them!!! Avoid the Prime Steakhouse. They are judge mental. I won't go back. We'll go to another, less pretentious Steak House. read more

We visited on a Sunday evening in May. My wife's birthday was noted in my reservation. The hostess seated us promptly outside and greeted by wife with "Happy Birthday". The menu header was printed also with Happy Birthday. Our fantastic server Tony also greeted us and wished her a Happy Birthday. Ok, so this is all nice, but what about the food?? We both ordered filet and shared the Stack (Caprese Salad) was fantastic, the fillets perfectly cooked and presented. The salad was very good with the tomatoes very good for being pre-season. Dessert came to the table with a huge shower of sparks to note the occasion. Making the experience extra special was the friendly, humerus and attentive and engaging service provided by Tony. Had New Years dinner here. First, loved that it wasn't a pre fixed menu like most of the keys on NYE. Second, great atmosphere for a nice Holiday dinner without being too stuffy. The carpaccio was pretty good. Mac and cheese side was just okay. Steaks were decent. Our bone in filet had blue cheese melted on top and the the temperature was done right. Called in for a reservation and they quickly helped me set it up. When I arrived they seated my girlfriend and I in a nice romantic area (table 7). The waiter was FANTASTIC. Very friendly and on point. We went pretty basic with our order, but it was good. My girlfriend ordered a filet mignon. It was cooked to perfection. I ordered the 24oz bone in ribeye. It was a little under cooked, but it was still good. Mac n cheese was tasty, maybe some bacon would give it an added touch. Our waiter recommended our wine, Rodney Strong Red. Went well with our entree. Dessert was also good. I would recommend to friends and family and visit the next time I'm in Key West. read more

We arrived at Prime Steakhouse on 8/4/2019 around 7:15pm. We didn't have a reservation, which we should have. But the kindest people said that wasn't a problem and sat us right down. The waiter Tony (I believe) was awesome. He was kind, friendly and very knowledgeable. The food was outstanding. I had the Grouper special and my husband had the Filet Mignon. 16th anniversary! First time dining at Prime... did not disappoint. Previous reviews sited lack of crab in She Crab Soup, it's there this is not a soup featuring lump crab by design so be fore warned if that's what you're looking for go to Hogfish for the lobster bisque. Wanted the anti-pasto but it is no longer on the menu, that was disappointing. Shared "the stack" and it was awesome, they split it for us so it was not difficult to enjoy. Order the porterhouse eat the fillet side and take the strip home. Truffle Mac n cheese is good but not mind blowing. Hubby had fillet and didn't need the knife. Highly recommend in what can be a wasteland of subpar service, fine dining actually does exist in Key West. read more
