Tortillas are made fresh here! They're really good too! Not too thick and not too thin yellow corn. Corn tortillas are a staple in my home. Service was friendly but I was overcharged for an additional small package of tortillas when I had already purchased a large pack. It was weird because them I called the store they insisted they had to speak to the clerk to see if she had overcharged me or not, like what?! Then they said they would look at the security footage. They called me back and said indeed I had not received the small pack of tortillas I was erroneously charged for. I also got fresh salsa which was also really tasty, chips, wheel chips to fry, and some Mexican candy. I've been here in the past but don't frequent this place enough as I should for the tortillas. Nothing says home to me like a tortilleria. Having grown up in the valley of Texas, 10 minutes from the border, tortillerias were a major part of our everyday life. Sought out Tortilleria Reyes in Vista and OMG, this place did not disappoint. As a matter of fact, it impressed the hell out of me! There was virtually anything one could want or need on a personal or professional level. I picked up 1/2 dozen pork tamales and 2 dozen tortillas de Harina. If I lived here, this would be my daily, but I don't so I have to enjoy what I can while I can. The tamales were epic, just like small kid times and I loved them. Putting a nice fresh tortilla in the pan until it separates with that beautiful pillow of air, just another slice of small kid time memories and a major bonus to my tastebuds. So, in closing, please support this awesome business and the rest work they do, I'm going to start figuring out how I can have this sent directly to me once a month in Hawaii. Well, just to go back and get more it was so delicious. Also was tipped off by the ultra friendly staff of the Saturdays only blue corn tortillas so got some of those too. Fresh homemade corn tortillas! Freshness you can taste. Great value on taco Tuesdays, 99 cent tacos! This place is inside a small market, in a nice little area of downtown Vista. They mostly speak Spanish, but if you're more comfortable with an English speaker, the cashier at the front of the market can help. We tried the carne asada and adobada tacos. Both were pretty good. I think the asada outshined the al pastor adobada this time (it was slightly dry, but still good). As you can see in the pic I've posted, there is ample cilantro and onions.. and the salsa is great here. This is a wonderful little carniceria/hot food/bodega right next to Vista village pub. The tacos I ordered this Tuesday are unique and delicious. They are from old fashioned blue corn, and the tamales are piping hot and stuffed with chunks of tender chicken. 12 blue corn street tacos, 2 tamales, and a fresh squeezed orange juice cost us 20 dollars! Amazing deal for a high quality, authentic Mexican experience! I will be returning to buy masa and ingredients when I make my own tamales. The store was crowded, but clean and well stocked with snacks and the stuff you need for a posole. Then I opened the 2 burritos I spent $30 on and noticed they were completely wrong. So today I went to buy carnitas to have some lunch with my husband, and for any reason I end up buying 1 taco to eat on my way home and when I open the box to put the condiments I saw a pc of aluminum it seems it was from the metal scrubber, I went and told the lady in the kitchen and all she said was oh is from the drainers that we used to get them out but she never apologize or said they will be careful more nothing thank God a saw it before eating my taco but imagine if it were to happen to someone else and maybe even a kid, I work at a restaurant and we have to be careful with things like this because I always said if we wouldn't served to our family why server to other people and also by being apologized will say a-lots and makes you feel that they will take an action. read more
