I'm always wary of trying to order and then pick up food from restaurants on Haddon Ave. Parking can be a problem - how annoying. For better or worse, this spot in Collingswood has a designated 15-minute parking if you order in advance. We called ours in and that worked out perfectly, especially on a quiet weekend, late morning, in time for a lunch order. The hoagies were hefty and size and well-proportioned. Let me say that the hoagies here are tasty (I've always only gotten take out) but the staff leave a lot to be desired. I've ordered a bunch of times and asked for hoagies to be cut into a certain number of pieces and literally EVERY TIME it's ignored. So annoying! Plus the owner (a larger man with longish dirty hair) couldn't have been more rude, ignorant, and trashy. Dropping the F bomb with customers within earshot (real classy bud!) because he couldn't find his mouse pad for his laptop. Have some decorum and take it to the back office or bite your tongue until customers have gone. I have to say, I won't be returning. Feb 4th I placed an online order for a suprimo with extra cheese (which comes with roasted red peppers) it did not have the red peppers (the one thing that it's supposed to have). Called to let them know, offered me a free hoagie and would keep the extra cheese with it. Today I placed an order for an old Italian based off the credit and confirmed the extra cheese, which they confirmed back, while also placing and order for another hoagie and picking up a few sides. This location is right on the main drag in Collinswood toward the west end. It has ample seating inside which is uncommon from what I've seen at other Primos. There is a small, crappy TV using antenna but hey, I guess it's better than nothing. There are also a few tables outside on the sidewalk which can be nice if the weather cooperates. The staff was very young and the service friendly. The sandwiches taste the same as always. With their quality ingredients and combinations, it's hard to go wrong! read more

Perhaps, but the quality of breads, meats and cheeses are far superior at Primo to the limited selection at Wawa. Yesterday I went in to pick up hoagies before the Phils game. The woman at the counter offered to set them up on a tray and then she threw in three sides of extras without me even asking (pickles, banana peppers and sweet peppers). For $35 (including a bag of chips), I fed five hungry, somewhat intoxicated adults and had leftovers for after the game. Minus one star only because orders are occasionally messed up. This only happened to me once but my boss refuses to go there because it happened to her a bunch of times. read more

I had eaten at one in Voorhees a few years back and remember being decidedly underwhelmed, but it had been a while and I figured it was worth another try. We ordered the spicy Italian and the roast beef, a side of provolone bites, and some potato salad. The provolone bites started things off on a decidedly 'meh' course. Good, but not sharp provolone. There tweren't no 'bite' in these bites. *snooze*. The potato salad went into the trash. I HATE a 'sweet' potato salad, and this had sweet peppers in it. Eggs, fine. Bacon, yum. Plain, just fine. Some Carrot shreds for color, maybe. Sweet pepper, bleah. The spicy Italian was tasty, but would have been better with a sharper provolone. The bread was, as mentioned, a tough sesame seed roll which I like, so no problems there, but meat and toppings were on the sparse side. The flavor was better than a Wawa sandwich, but if I was looking to fill up, the shorti would have been the way to go. Now I know we're talking a different class of meats here, but we're also talking a different price point. My spicy Italian primo wasn't $2.99, so taking into account the cost difference, this is frankly, a gyp (jip?) - ummm, a poor deal for the money. The roast beef hoagie came with a very mild swiss, their version of a thousand island dressing and some cole slaw. It was pretty boring compared to the spicy Italian, and suffered from the same level of meat anorexia as the spicy Italian. It tasted OK, but actually tasted much better the next day. So, based upon this I'll not be going back. I'll either walk a block to Wawa for a cheapy shorty, order from Gaetano's, or give Finzio's a shot. read more

One thing that always irritates me is that small minority of vegetarians, the whinetarians. They always want to impose separate rules and onerous practices on business. To her credit, she did remind the cashier to offer me various accoutrments/peppers etc. I took my lunch booty home and proceeded to dive into the hoagie. The meats were excellent and nice and spicy. The hot peppers I got complimented the meats very well. The cheese was ok, but nothing special. I wasn't as thrilled with the bread. I"m not a big fan of the hard roll. I had to take a steak knife just to cut the sucker. However, I did like the sesame seeds on it. I probably should have gotten a smaller hoagie, since the Primo size was pretty big. If I hadn't been hungry, it could have supplied me with enough for two lunches. That's a good thing. I'll probably be back at some point. First let me say that a Primo Hoagie is the best hoagie available. No wawa, no sheetz, no random pizza joint. Only Primo...so this review is just based on comparing this location to other Primos. I have eaten at a number of the Primo locations from center city and pa suburbs, down to the shore. Even the Bethlehem location...and the Collingswood location has been the most disappointing. On a number of occasions I got a hoagie with no lettuce or no tomatoes. Granted that was the previous owner...but when the management changed over this past winter ( I think) things started out ok, but I have noticed a significant drop off in quality from then until now. Maybe it is the economy, but I have been getting smaller and smaller hoagies. It seems like each time there is less and less meat....almost no lettuce. I am used to large sandwiches from Primos...and continue to get that at other loactions. What I have been seeing in collingwood is a hoagie about the size of the roll itself. While I will continue to go here for hoagies...I plan on diversifying my football sunday meal. read more

Primo's Hoagies....Mmmm, Mmmm good! They make a serious hoagie for a serious eater. No frills kinda place. I have frequented the Eagle Plaza store and now the one in my hometown; Collingswood. The hoagies are consistently well above average especially if you throw on some long hots. The downside- - - CUSTOMER SERVICE! Ugh! The Voorhees location was sub-par with service, but the Coll's location takes the cake and their turnover of staff proves it. I don't mind a little rudeness to go with an order, but incompetence is another genre! The owners of this franchise have consistently shown their inability to maintain a quality staff.....good thing the staff can follow along the picture instructions on how to build a hoagie that they get right---consistently. The bread. The delicious, crusty, seeded bread. This is what drove me crazy about living away from the Philly area for four years. Every time I got a sandwich, it was on this spongey piece of crap bread that dissolved before I was even done with my sandwich. Every time I came back down to visit NJ, I'd get a Primo Hoagie. Overall I guess this review should be about this location. It's located on Haddon Ave, which is great. It's part of a new development, The Lumberyard, which is cool. I went to the Collingswood location on a Saturday morning, because I needed a hoagie tray for a bachelorette party later that afternoon. The staff was extremely friendly, helpful, and patient with me as I ordered for the first time. They made flavor recommendations and helped me figure out the best options for my budget. Primo in Colls makes Sandwiches with great taste and a bit of flair. Nothing bland or basic. Full flavor and top quality breads, meat & cheese. The new owners are great and the staff is vastly improved since the new owner/management took over. I especially like to get their sandwich trays to take to clients. You can get a decent hoagie here, and the employees are nice enough. I'll continue to order from here due to its convenient location for me. However, I've ordered sandwiches here at least 20 times and they are slowwww and almost always make a mistake. Little things, like not cutting the sandwich when you specifically request to have it cut, or missing an ingredient. Overall I blame the management for that. I worked in a small place with high volume that's very similar to this place, and know that having a manager or owner always there and checking on things is essential. Was there opening day and have eaten more sandwiches there than anywhere else. Can just about get what you like on fresh bread. Friendly people, fresh stuff made to order. I'm surprised to see so many low reviews for this place. I've always had a good experience here. I love the sharp Italian. I don't see a lot of "real" sharp provolone in the Midwest so it was always a treat for me. They also have some of the best roast beef cold cuts I've had. The roast beef with provolone, coleslaw, and Russian dressing is great. Also, the chicken cutlet with sharp provolone and long hots is excellent. Well, I should have known after reading multiple reviews about incorrect orders and taking long. Those reviews were absolutely spot on. I ordered by phone to pick up and they screwed up my order. I wound up with a sandwich with a few slices of prosciutto and that's it for over $6. I ordered cheese on it, but it was missing. I mean it was a really simple order so I'm shocked at how it was even possible to mess it up. 20 minutes to make this? Being a recent transplant from Texas I must make a confession...we don't know SQUAT about pizza or hoagies (subs). Sure, you can get plenty of both in Texas, they just MASSIVELY suck compared to the Nort East (this cannot be overstated). I have tried many hoagie joints since I have moved up north and the cold cuts are incredible. What has made Primo's so good is the interesting variety of how the sandwiches are put together as well as the freshness and quality of the rolls (buns) they use. The guuys here in Collingswood are VERY helpful, offer quick service, and (if you take the time to sit and eat in the place) will sing oudly and off-key to the radio! LOL...seriously, it is great. I am sure they are lots of other sandwich shops (plenty around Collingswood), but everytime I grab a hoagie I find myself wiching I had just gone back to the boys on Haddon Ave at Primo's...Love it. read more

We don't do hoagies often, but we really like this store. The other reviewers pretty much make all the points necessary. Besides the bread, what impresses me most is the customer service. They are always friendly and helpful. A disappointment is that the last time we ordered my husband ordered "meat only" on a spicy Italian.. I've purchased sandwiches from Primo's and had them delivered to my job and on a number of occasions I have called to complain about the way the sandwiches were prepared and the customer service I received was very poor. The only consolation to the complaint was "I'm sorry". They have never offered to remedy the complaint, but only say they are sorry that we weren't satisfied with the sandwiches. Though the bread is great, the service is the most disgusting thing about the business itself. Unless you are willing to take a "I'm Sorry" when something is wrong with your sandwich, I would not consistently order from Primo's on Haddon in Collingswood. read more

I have to say Primo Hoagies has some of the best made and fashioned sandwiches around. But from there I need to review a few of my experiences. I always have enjoyed the food and general service at the Collingswood store as I have been going there since just after it opened. On occasion though I have had some very unsettling visits. I have been waiting for my order to finish up multiple times and had the manager of the store begin cursing at employees while people are in the store. Granted he seemed to have been trying to keep his voice down. But to know that not only is there a level of unprofessional behavior coming from the manager but also a disregard for who is in the store waiting is beyond me. I have mentioned this to some of the workers there and they brush it off without a real response. I since have started going to another Primos not too far from there. Be careful bringing younger kids around if you dont want them to hear that type of cursing and yelling. read more

Was in town in April for a private show locally. We were guests of a dear friend of mine in Audubon, NJ of all places. We wanted hoggies for I rarely get to get them so we ordered from Primo's for a delivery. It arrived quickly. The delivery man in the red car was very pleasant and polite. After a quick chat he recommended a sandwich called a Bada Bing to us. We were back in the area last week and my friend went in and got a couple of those Badas Bingas for take out.
