Was hesitant to write a 'medium' level review at this time because have always favored local places and during the lockdown some positives help even more. In this weeks mail ads we received a flyer from Primos. We had seen it in town, but never been to it. They had some coupons and seemed like a good way to try it. Ordering something like Mexican dinner via delivery was going to mean the food won't be as good as sitting at a table and having it delivered right to you. The food turned out to be good, definitely worth trying in house when we can get safely again. We both had Fajitas, mine was steak and hers was shrimp. Am pretty sure the helpings on rice and beans would have been more generous in-house, but delivered meant they had to fit into the containers. They weren't rally hot, but again...warm it up! It's delivered. But there were other issues. Her Shrimp was supposed to be chicken. It was repeated over the phone, but the bill had it typed in shrimp. Good for her she likes shrimp, if they had both been this..there would have been a bigger issue as I don't eat shrimp. The steak mix was really good. Issues Took 6 calls to make the order. First 3 got busy signal. Not a real issue, they might have been busy. Fourth call, rang about 20 times, then call was cut off. Fifth, there was a very brief pick up and then disconnect? Sixth, finally someone answered. Seemed to have difficulty hearing each other. At least 3 times mentioned had their flyer, was a new customer and wanted to know about the coupons. The woman who answered didn't respond to any of these 1questions."Order", "What do you want?" When arrived was charged for delivery even though the amount would have qualified for free delivery. OR, one of the other specials. Ordered over and hour early. Told her needed it by a specific time as that was when spouse was coming home. Instead it was 45 minuter later than their best time, but also 30 plus minutes after the time requested. The actually requested time was 45 minutes AFTER the quickest. Of course, remember at the top of review ONE of the 2 meals were wrong. Would I recommend? For quality of the food, we will likely eat INSIDE the restaurant. Delivery? NO. The woman taking the order was brusque which I took for being busy, but also didn't answer questions. Allow me to use the coupons that promoted us to call. Great new discovery! After reading about this place on Yelp I had to try it out. It's definitely a hole in the wall from the outside, (former gas station), but the inside is a typical low key restaurant with Mexican flare! We went on a Wednesday evening, and when we arrived around 7PM we had gotten the last table. It was bigger inside than what I imagined after reading some reviews. I was surprised at how busy it was, in fact there was a small line waiting to be seated after we were seated. Word must be getting out that this is a great place to eat. We were seated immediately in a booth which I was pleased about. Our server quickly took our drink orders and was quick to take our food order when he returned with chips, salsa and our drinks. The chips were good but the salsa needed some spicing up IMO, but a splash of hot sauce solved that problem! The entrees arrived fairly quick. I had the Carne Asada which had great flavor, although just a bit tougher than I had hoped. The beans were flavorful and delicious. Not big on rice because to me it usually just tastes bland as it did to me here. The guacamole that came with it was good, as were the flour tortillas which appeared as though they were made in house. My dining partner had the beef enchilada and a fried flour shell beef taco. I'm told both were delicious, and I was able to sample the beef enchilada and thought it had outstanding flavor. That will be the next thing I order when I return! The bill for all of this food plus 2 margaritas was just above $30! Can't beat that for the great food and great service. I just found one more reason to visit Council Bluffs on occasion!! read more

This is a decent place where I have had some good food and some passable food. This time I ordered a taco salad (yeah I know, not authentic), and it was flavorful with a good presentation. It was priced right at $7.99 and came with salsa and ranch. The guacamole has just the right seasoning and served with warm chips. It was creamy, and a large serving. Emilio's Special Burrito Smothered burrito filled with choice of meat, beans, rice & queso.Topped with hot or mild green chile, melted cheese, lettuce, tomato & sour cream. - ordered with their Carne Asada and hot green chile; it has some heat and great flavor. Carne Asada Chimichanga - very good Carne Asada Ala carte cheese enchiladas were HUGE and very good. Recommended if you are sick of fast food and want a better choice while on the road. read more

This is a place where non-Mexicans go for what they think is Mexican food. I ordered chicken enchiladas Verde and was told the Verde sauce would cost "extra"....umm, ok. And then the enchilada I got had a very tough and chewy exterior which is not right at all. The beans were flavorless. For the price I'd have much rather gone to La Casita in Omaha. Much more tasty and authentic. The watermelon margarita had an artificial taste to it.... Saving Grace was their salsa. That's it. read more

Fast prompt service. Our food was good but you couldn't taste the tequila in their margaritas at all. We asked for a shot of tequila to mix into our drinks to help out. It's ok. We lived around the corner from there and dined there on occasion. Sometimes the burritos are ice cold in the middle, as in the meat was refrigerated and didn't get reheated all the way through. The service is usually alright and the food is usually alright as well. Their house hot salsa is flavorful with a plentiful kick! Mild to good too! Service is usually great (we always sit at the bar). Complimentary chips and salsa. Definitely not primo service. My boyfriend and I went for a late lunch around 2 on a Saturday and saw a sign at the hostess sign that said "please wait to be seated" so we waited for 5 minutes... After nobody seated us or even talked to us, we figured it must be open seating so decided to sit at a booth. We waited 10 additional minutes in the booth and STILL not one worker said a word to us. However, my favorite is the chicken enchilada, and after many attempts to eat this item, I have to say I am very disappointed in the amount of chicken. Lunch service was excellent - quick and courteous. I had a #1 - 2 chicken tacos. Beans and rice. The shell on the taco is deep fried. It was really good. I highly recommend. Only downside is that it's basically a Mexican decorated sports bar. If you can get past the decor, you'll love the food. read more

Two steak tacos cost me 750. What a joke. There was maybe a table spoon of meat on a tiny tortilla and the hot sauce tasted like the only seasoning they used was salt, and lots of it. I gave it two stars only because my boyfriend's Torta looked pretty good. read more

Decent mexican-american food. The place was full so they are doing something right. Ordered queso and guacamole to start - queso was good - guacamole was past it's prime. For entrees we ordered the special burrito, tamale platter and carne asada tacos. Burrito was ok but green chile was just a salsa verde, tamales and chile con carne were good, carne asada tacos were served in a deep fried shell - odd. Our server (Raquel) was a superstar and seemed to know exactly when she needed to swing by our table for food order, drink refills, and was very good at ensuring our complicated orders perfect. I ordered the chicken flauta without cheese or sour cream and my co-worker order quesadilla with shrimp and a beef taco. Our food came out in a very timely manner and was very tasty! Hubby, son and his GF, and I went to Primas for Valentine's Day dinner this week. The place was packed, we had to wait for a table to get cleared, but once we were seated, we were greeted by a server who took our drink order right away. Complementary chips and hot sauce served quickly - the chips are really good and easy to fill up on before you even get your food! Our food order took a little time to serve, but was well worth the wait. It was obvious things were home made, not just warmed in a microwave or sitting on a steam table somewhere. Hubby ordered a tamale platter, son had a 3- choice combo (beef enchilada, chicken enchilada, beef/bean burrito), GF had a taco salad, and I had a 2- choice combo (chicken enchilada, chili relleno) with a side of guacamole. The servings were good sized, and the platter and combo meals came with refried beans and rice. I wouldn't recommend the burrito (son didn't like it, and I tasted it, it was dry and not very well seasoned) or the chili relleno, which was also sort of blah. The enchildas, tamales, and taco salad were excellent however. The guac was fresh and had nice chunks of avocado in it, again, everything was obviously home made and fresh. We will go back to Primas, way better than any chain or other local Mexican restaurants! Primas is sort of a hole-in-the-wall, but definitely an excellent find. read more

I ate at primos left the cash tip and charged my meal. The establishment added another tip to my credit card so they gotta 30% tip. I will never go back to such a restaurant that creates fraudulent activities.
