We dined there this evening and the food was very good. We ordered the trio salsa and one was extremely hot/spicy and I can tolerate very spicy food and it tested my limits. All had good flavor. The guacamole was the best we have had in a restaurant. Our entrees: I had the fish tacos and the individual components were very good my only complaint is that the pieces of fish were too large for the taco tortilla. My husband had the enchiladas and they were very good however the dish was cold. The refried beans were almost whipped in texture but had a flavor that was off putting. We are refried bean purists. My son had the mushroom quesadilla and he gave it a major thumbs up. Finishing off our meal we're the churros which were delicious. The star of my meal was the jalapina hand crafted drink it was divine. We lab to go back to try more items on the menu. read more

Well this was my first time going to this place. All I have to say it will be my last time going there. I had a bad experience nothing was right. My drink was bad so I told the waitress and she got me another one and it was as bad as the first one, then I told her that it was as bad as the first one and she said that another customer sent another drink back and that it was also bad then told me that all the drinks were bad so had no choice to drink WATER. My food was also so cold I had to send it back to get warmed up. We all got our food at different times some of us were done eating and some of us didn't even have our food yet. I have had some very good carry out meals from here, especially the steak taco's and also a couple that were not very good but today was certainly a poor experience. Just ordered some carry out nachos, a basic Mexican standard that should be a good gauge of the other food they serve, what you get is just chips with some cheese and beans on top, no lettuce or salsa or anything to make it exceptional. There was some guacamole, sour cream and peppers on he side and you can an opt for some type of meat also but they really need to step up their game, I would have to go next door to Pints in the future for nachos. The food here was really flavorful and enjoyable. My parents had their wedding here which was a great area for lost of people, a great area to eat some enjoyable food, have some splendid drinks and enjoy some nice music while either being inside in the comfort or outside enjoying the area. By far the worst experience I have ever had. We were sat down and greeted by our waitress Erika, who said she would be with us shortly to take our drinks. We waited and waited... saw her go to other tables near us multiple times and yet nothing our way. After at least 10 minutes of waiting, I finally got up and told someone that no one had taken our drink order yet. Someone came around to take them after a few minutes and then a new waiter came by to take our order. He apologized for the trouble and it seemed like things were turning around. However, then Erika comes back and brings us our drinks. They were incorrect. At this point I was just super upset about the whole situation. First, we wait to be served. Second, when we finally have our order placed, it's incorrect. We were told Erika was caught up with a party table and trust me, I get it. I have a lot of patience because I too work in customer service. But this doesn't excuse the terrible experience. If she was caught up then have someone else take care of the table instead of having us wait around. We left after our drinks were incorrect because the whole experience was just unacceptable. Once I voiced that I was leaving everyone came over to us and I just feel like it should have never gotten to that point. The manager should have came to apologize to us but instead once I said we were leaving I saw how Erika reacted like she was bothered by my decision of leaving. I want to love this place but it's just not happening. I've been here twice for dine-in and while the decor/vibe is nice and the outdoor patio is great, the food is mediocre at best. I've yet to have a hot dish...both times the food is luke warm and doesn't taste great. I've had the enchiladas verdes and recently had the chicken tamales with green sauce and neither were good. The chicken is a weird consistency as it is chopped up very fine, almost like it was in a purée machine. There's no heat with the salsa verde. I've had better tamales on street corners in downtown Chicago. Same with the chicken enchiladas. Lastly, the value isn't there. It's a bit overpriced for the portion and quality. Kids meals at $10, which seems a lot for kids under 10 considering the portion. I've loved every restaurant I've been to in Elmhurst for the most part, with the exception of this place. If I rate this place a zero, I would. My girls wallet was stolen, and was told that there was nothing they could do for us. No reviewing of camera footage or assistance at all. I bet if someone walked out on a bill, they would have been quick to review that! I've been here 2x within a month. Been greeted nicely upon arrival and while leaving. Food is good. The drawback is as follows: First time, the waitress did not ask if we wanted anything else she just showed up and left the bill. We had not requested the bill nor had we been at the restaurant for a long time maybe 50minutes... more importantly we were still in the process of eating. We didn't get asked if we wanted anything else. It felt like they were ready for us to leave. It was a busy evening but there were still empty seating knocking out the possibility of them wanting the table... nor did they mention there was a seating time limit. Second time, the food was also good. The waiter checked in etc. However, when he brought the check we left check left on the table as we finished eating what we had left. He did not come back to the table after leaving the check however I caught him peeking and stretching at a distance to look back at our table.... found it odd and disturbing as I attempted to finish a few last chips. He looked at the "swipe machine" (not sure of the proper name) more than once and then he'd do that stretch look at us. didn't even finish a side we had ordered we took it home- we didn't even get asked if we wanted a container/bag for it to take home. At this point I didn't care to ask after that... In the end the feeling was awkward... It seems like he thought we would would run off (with a child) and not pay. I don't question this thought because as soon as we got up to leave he made his way immediately like speedy Gonzalez to the table & grabbed the money (we paid cash w/tip) I never experienced something like that in any restaurant. That's the last thing I'd expect from a restaurant in Elmhurst. I highly doubt they've been experiencing parties with kids running off without paying. Really debating going back, the food is good but the feeling they give you while eating there is NOT good &/or up to par for Elmhurst. Hope this helps someone. read more

What a fiasco. Called to order and was transferred 3 times. Put on hold 3 times for 5 minutes each. Got there to pick up the order and it was never put in. They didn't tell me the ordered was never placed and made me wait. Finally after 15 minutes they brought me a bag and told me no charge. I got home and they got a third of the order correct. We tried Primos Locos last night and we were not disappointed! First the space / they have done a great job of converting this location. We were sat upstairs and the remodeling they did of both the upstairs and downstairs is awesome. There were four of us. We ordered the chicken enchiladas, tamales, skirt steak and taco salad. All four of us were very pleased with the quality of the food. If there was anything that could have been better it would have only been having the food be a little hotter when served. I got tostadas - with sliced avocado instead of meat - from the lunch menu. I asked for grated cheese instead of queso fresco on one of the tostadas; that tuned out well but there was no sour cream, tomato, or onion - maybe they felt that stuff didn't go well with avocado, which I agree with except for onion. The portion was close to huge but I got through it after walking through the town and Wednesday farmers market. The rice and refried beans were fantastic; the chips were excellent but I didn't care for the green salsa. Next time - onions and red salsa. read more

It is like a modern, chi chi's with understaffed service and juicy cocktails or a better description might be a way over price Qdoba. I would not even give it a second chance. The food looks and is described well, but that is it.. We waited 20 mins at our table before anyone came over to bring menus or water and then had to search down our server to pay the bill. Had my first dining experience here over the weekend, and thought the food was good, and the atmosphere was fun, classy, and comfortable. I am looking forward to going back soon. However, I must comment on costumer service, because I believe this is important. My friend and I stopped here on our way home from a rather long day out with our kids. We needed a place for dinner on the way home, and decided to try the restaurant after hearing good things from friends. When we arrived we were greeted kindly even though the hostesses had to make some room for the 7 of us as we did not have a reservation. When we got to our table we waited for maybe 5 minutes before a server got to us, which actually impressed us as we knew it was a busy Saturday evening and every restaurant is short staffed right now. The server, though, was rather short when he did get around to us, rolling his eyes when we said we were just drinking water and needed just one more minute to nail down what the kids were eating. Then we didn't see him for a while, again understandable, but he seemed irradiated with us while taking our order. The food came quickly and was very good, but the server was so focused on being fast and getting on to the next table that he ignored that we were trying to ask him for more water. Our small water glasses were empty by the time food came and he didn't ask if we needed anything else. Other tables had a carafe of water for guests to refill their own glasses, but I guess he forgot ours. We tried to get his attention a few times as we ate, but to no avail. Finally we had finished eating and for probably another 15 minutes before my very pregnant friend got up and went to the bar to ask for a carafe of water herself. The server saw her pass him, but continued to chat with a nearby table for the next few minutes. When he did come back, after having never checked in on us, he didn't even acknowledge his mistake with the water. He took our payment and rushed off with a quick thank you. I have worked in the restaurant industry for over 15 years, and now own a restaurant myself. I can tell when a server favors other tables over some other that doesn't seem as profitable. It seemed pretty clear to me that he didn't have time for the two ladies with kids who weren't there to spend the night drinking up a large bill. A little change in attitude and a simple apology for having forgotten the water would have made everything fine. I hope the owners and management remind staff of this because service is as important as food. Besides, you never know which customers are going to continue to support your restaurant, who they are, and how much of a tip you are losing out on. We still tipped well, and hope it was just an off night. And like I said, I am looking forward to going again read more

I am appalled with the behavior of this restaurant's management. I was here last night and saw two young ladies pick up an order. The girls came back maybe 20 minutes later with another woman (mom?) because their order was incorrect. I don't know the whole story but the guy helping them took two FULL pint-sized containers of a drink they sold them for $32 EACH and dumped them out and didn't even give them a refund...instead called the poIice. From what I witnessed, and I saw the majority of the incident, I will NEVER come back here again. I have never in my lifetime seen people get treated so poorly for bringing a complaint to management because their order was wrong!! If you own a restaurant and can't fix the problem then give a refund...PERIOD! What the hell happened to customer service? I was embarrassed for them! NO STARS read more

We are so glad this place opened. The food, decor, service was excellent! We had the ceviche and it was delicious. We had the Al Pastor Tacos, as well as, the Carnitas Tacos. Gave this a try on opening day and we waited patiently for 2 and 1/2 hours to eat. Totally understandable since it was the first day. Left a 50% tip bc it was out of the servers control as it was not well planned by the management team. Returned last night and sat immediately as it wasn't crowded at all. Ordered drinks, then food. Drinks came as ordered but food didn't. Ordered Rojas but got Verdes. Ok, no big deal. Drinks ran out but no server in sight. Finally server came by and we ordered the same drinks as round one. (Vodka). Got what appeared to be the same drink but took a sip and it was tequila. Asked the server and was told she would go yell at the bartender. ‍ Then asked for a to go box for left overs. 20 minutes later she returned and asked if we needed anything else. Two things; a correct drink and a box. She took the food away to box it up at which point I knew that food would remain there w Covid and all. Was really excited to have a new Mexican restaurant in Elmhurst walking distance from my home but this is not going to be a go to for me. I still tipped the server 30% bc I felt bad about the lack of training she must have received. Very disappointed that I still don't have a good Mexican place in Elmhurst. Two stars is somewhat generous as the food is chain quality at best but priced on the high end. The two stars is basically for the atmosphere. Maybe they'll let people pick up from Cilantro or Mijo's and just rent a table since both have much better food at a lesser price. read more

When the restaurant first opened we ordered from it all the time. The food was at its best during the pandemic - oddly enough. The tamale were the best I'd tasted: you actually saw the chicken and the masa/chicken ration was perfect. Ever since reopening the quality of the food has taken a downturn. Notwithstanding inconsistencies with the orders and missed ingredients, I went back. Last night was my last order .... the salsa verde on the tamale was a dark green paste and it was saturated in lime. The steak fajitas were inedible for the saltiness. The rice in the taco salad was mushy. The quality has missed the mark one too many times. read more
