So after waiting over an hour at a place down the street we walked out of that place and came to this one. Since we are not from around this area we were not familiar with princes pizza and how the ordering system worked. The lady at the counter was very friendly and explain how everything worked. First you order at the counter when you seat yourself then they call your name on the intercom and you raise your hand and they bring the food to you. Very interesting system I thought but somehow it seemed to work. Some other people who left reviews for this place complain about the prices however compared to all the places around the area I thought the prices were pretty decent. The pizza was $13 and the beer that I had was only four dollars for a 16 ounce. The servers were very friendly and we were eating in less than five minutes from the time that we ordered. If you wonder whether or not you need to leave a tip it looks like it's on some kind of honor system where there is a container that says tips on the way out. It's very difficult to see that and I'm sure a lot of people who would want to tip the servers probably don't or I can't if they've never been there before since that's very difficult to see. We ordered a Caesar salad which was very good. I would order that again if I came here again. We also ordered a pepperoni pizza. The pizza I would say is average at best and nothing spectacular. This is mostly a family restaurant and if you were looking for a place to take out on a date this is probably not it. read more

This place has been around so long now that it is an institution. Their food is really good, especially the pizza. Don't go for a quiet, romantic dinner, though, because it is a raucous place with servers calling out orders, family style tables shared with strangers, people having a good time, etc. I had so many good times here in my youth. This place has a special place in my heart because like many local kids I grew up with this as the venue for many after field trip lunches and fundraisers. As a parent now this place is heaven for a family. The order - sit - name gets called and brought to you when you raise a hand system is original and makes a very large place easily manageble. The prices are good for a pizza place, the pasta and salad selections are great, the pitchers and beers are good and the staff is fine considering the simple tasks they have to do. I can't stress how kid friendly this place is without it being chuck e. cheese. Perfect place if you're trying to get a two year old used to sitting in a high chair at a restaurant. I've never had to wait here, its never been so busy its been uncomfortable and the quality of the pasta and the buttery pizza is great. I hope it stays like this for a long time. read more

Like everyone else, I grew up eating at Prince. I remember coming here as a kid with all 10 cousins, Aunts and Uncles, I had my 6th birthday party here (with Bozo-of course) and I may or may not have eaten 22 slices of Prince Pizza on a field trip in high school beating every single foot ball player. Probably not something to be proud of, but whatever. To me, their pizza still tastes as delicious as it was then. What prompted me to write this review was the experience that I had today and the service I received from Prince the last month and a half or so. I planned my sisters baby shower here and everything was great. I believe the manager that I worked with was Ryan. He was super helpful in the weeks leading up to the event. We even popped in during the week to take a look at the room. We were stumped on what else to serve at the shower so they brought out a bunch of stuff for us to try. Today was the shower and everything was perfect. The food, the room, the service. The eggplant rollatini were to die for. I would absolutely recommend this place for someone planning a private event. Special shout out to our server, Fiona! She handled my OCD requests like a champ. Also, can't forget Joey who was always willing to lend a hand. Lastly, their function room is ADORABLE. I appreciate the history and the tradition, however the quality just doesn't hold up in comparison to other places nearby and for the price point. The bruchetta was a few peices of toasted rounds with a bowl of chopped tomatoes the mozzarella sticks were finely breaded seemed to be baked due to lack of crisp. The pizza I gather you either love of find ok. I thought it was just ok. The atmosphere seemed cold and outdated which is fine but I just seemed like I was in a time capsule with food that didn't wow me. Service however was great ! read more

Just had my daughter's 3rd birthday here and it was awesome! The kiddos made their own pizza and decorated cupcakes. They had a blast. We had a room in which they could run and dance. The manager Steve called me to ensure all the details were set and was very accommodating with my budget. I was able to bring in my own cake (they don't charge a cake cutting fee). Our waitress Fiona was so attentive, thoughtful, and fast. I heard from several guests how she noticed little things and went out of her way to help them. This place is a little different. I came here after driving by many times on Route 1. Upon entering I found the whole set up just plain confusing. You order at a counter and then take a seat. Wait, I thought this was a restaurant.. Not Papa Gino's. When your food is ready they yell your name out! Heres the kicker- The food does not come out all at once, so you'll be hearing lots of name yelling while you're enjoying your meal. Overall, the pizza is OK. I wouldn't go out of my way for it. This is a longtime favorite of mine; I used to go here every week with my family growing up, getting some margherita pizzas and a pitcher of root beer and grabbing one of the communal tables in the dining area. To me, it is really an unforgettable experience and a real throwback of a place. And the pizza is some of the best in the Boston area, in my opinion (especially the margherita). The cheese pizza is good. The crust is very light, feather, flaky. Almost has a deep fried taste. The place is n-o-i-s-y, crowded and too busy. I hate being seated by the bathrooms and after begging a lot we were seated in the Back Room, which was half empty, but the chairs are lined back to back. The lady seated with her chair back to mine ofcourse had to get up several times and I was shoved under my table every time she got up. The waiteresses put the pitchers of drinks on our table, but forgot to get cups. Then ran and got the pizzas, but forgot to get any silverware or plates. After what seemed eternity she came back with some paper cups and straws and dishes for the pizzas, but no sliverware. So when we wanted to go home with our leftovers, we just grabbed one of their empty boxes and dumped our pizzas in and left. Family-owned Prince Pizzeria is one of those Route 1 icons like Kowloon's and the Hilltop Steak House. In spite of the tackiness that is Route 1 there is usually a good reason these spots have survived for decades. In the case of Prince it's plain and simple; the pizza. Excellent crust with a good sauce, topped with tasty cheese served fresh and delivered quickly to your table. They serve other meals like pasta dinners but the pizza is the main attraction. The Arturo special is a personal favorite; onions, peppers, salami and mushrooms. My only issues with this place is the lack of table service and the noise level. The way it works is that you walk in, place your order at the counter, pay your tab then go grab a table in the dining room and wait for your name to be called. Anything additional you want to order you'll have to repeat the process. Not all that conducive to a relaxing meal or quality time with that special someone. But a great place to go with a large noisy group and as a result a popular place for families and large gatherings. (3.5 stars) read more

My family has been going to Prince forever. My favorite is their pizza (with extra cheese), It's so good and always cooked perfectly. Another of my favorite is the dessert pizza that they have with the lunch buffet during the week. I actually wish they sold it all the time by the slice, I'd definitely buy a slice when I go! I would consider myself a pizza enthusiast. I eat it atleast 5 times a week and i can confidently say Prince makes the best pizza I have ever tasted. I have to drive over an hour to get here and its always worth it. Service is great too. The only downside is its packed at dinner time because its such a great place. Our waiter was awesome. She was doing everything for everyone none stop. The place is really lucky to have her. Besides that the food was okay at the best. I had the raviolis and my fiancé had chicken marsala. The raviolis I have had better at home out of the freezer. My fiancé chicken marsala was awful she couldn't even eat it. I got the fried zucchini, not a fan, not fresh and very small for the large order. The fries where good. Been going to Prince for ages, absolutely love it! I've had pizza everywhere but Prince Pizza will always be at the top of my list, (order the BBQ chicken). The crust is the best part! The pasta and sandwiches are superb too and the portion sizes are very generous, (order the chicken or veal parm). Eh. I came here for the buffet with a couple of friends. We paid less than $5 to eat unlimited pizza AND we were given a box. Needless to say we stuffed that thing with so much pizza to bring home and the staff didn't give us any problems. We basically got lunch and dinner for under $5. :) As for the pizza itself, it's okay. It's gone downhill since all of the sports banquets I used to attend here when I was a kid. Went to Prince with a couple of friends last night at about 8:30PM and everything about our experience was great. We started with the salad bar, which did not have a great selection, but the veggies were fresh and the dressing was good. You can't beat salad bars that have goldfish at them either (the cracker not actual fish). We had cheese pizza (usually a bit boring, but not here). It was the best pizza I have had in a long time - perfect ratio of cheese to sauce. The cheese was delicious and the sauce "stayed out of the way." The crust is what makes Prince Pizza great - perfectly cooked. We had a pitcher of Bud Light with our pizza, which is reasonably priced at $11. Then came the soft serve...a true hidden gem of Prince. Usually you will fill up on pizza, but the soft serve is a must have. For $2 they give a generous portion with sprinkles. I have been to Prince many times and grew up going there with my family and it is always a hit. The casual atmosphere and the old school serving style is great "order ready for (insert your name here)" is music to anyone's ears. read more

this is a review about the take out ... I recently moved to Malden right on the Saugus line ... I have been to a few really good italian places since moving but those places are closed on Sundays so I decided to give Prince a try ... Worst $40 bucks I have ever spent on food literally. I ordered the Chicken Marsala ... Granted getting Marsala take out compared to eating at the restuarant does make a difference so i always give places the benefit of the doubt, but this Marsala was disgusting. The key to cooking a good Marsala is cooking it long enough that you burn the alcohol off .. by the taste of this marsala they must have cooked it for like 10 seconds ... It was literally not edible. I dipped the penne in the sauce at the bottom of the dish and almost threw up it was so strong ... terrible. The chicken was mushy as well. I also got the toasted Rav ... Rubbery and just bland ... overall this place stinks and will never return read more

On a drive into Boston I searched yelp for a gluten free restaurant and discovered the best gluten free pizza's around. Prince Pizzeria's gluten free pizzas are larger than the usual gluten free pizza with a deep flavorful crust and generous toppings cooked to perfection. The owner helped us order and later stopped by our table to chat and make sure we were enjoying our meal. He told us he orders the crusts from Florida and intentionally charges a little less than the cost. He has them on the menu so families with gluten intolerant family members to eat out together. There were lots of families with children when we were there for a Friday lunch. The staff were universally cheerful and efficient. I only wish we lived closer. It's now my number one place for pizza! read more
