I just went here last night for the first time. LOVES IT. The pizza was delicious. Hot cheesy and crispy but chewy. Per Tony D the sauce is right on. We went after a movie around 9:30-ish so it was not mobbed, I can imagine it being a little crazy if it is prime time. Not being from Boston and not exploring this part of the world very often, I am discovering a new world of culinary fun on Route 1 as of late. We go here quite often to meet friends and enjoy the casual atmosphere. The food is really nothing to shout about. Chicken fingers are dry and overcooked. The salad bar is next to pitiful. The pasta and meatballs are quite good. Pizza is so-so. Recently prices were hiked upward (probably to subsidize the opening of "Prince To Go" on the other side of the highway. Went to a fundraiser comedy show laat night. GF and I got there early and sat at the bar. Jay the bartender took care of us. A Cosmopolitan for her and beers for me. Very friendly with a lot of energy. Pizza at the show was good for an event server in the show was great. Kept my beer full. That can be a challenge sometimes. Good night at the Prince! read more

I have been going to Prince Restaurant for as long as I can remember (and I'm 65 years old). I absolutely love the food and the environment. Their pizza is my all time favorite and love other dishes as well. I have hosted parties there and have attended parties there (birthdays, anniversary's, etc) and my experiences have always been positive ones! The owners are a pleasure to work and talk with and are very accomodating!. I think there are 3 private function rooms to choose from so always a way to suit your needs! I can remember way back when they had Calvin the Clown entertain at birthday parties and my oldest granddaughter always had to be taken into another room when he came out as she was petrified of clowns!!!! Horrible customer service. Pizza took WAYYY too long to come. THE PIZZA RAN OUT!!!! It was not so school friendly after all. They told us the pizza ran out (we had to ask). Manager was really rude. Waitress was okay. Seemed annoyed by our existence. Would make eye contact but Ignore anyway. The only semi-nice thing they did was put our school name on their light up board entrance sign. I don't like their pizza. Ok that's said (and my husband is a fan) but I just have to write regarding their eggplant Parmesan. It is excellent time after time. Don't even bother ordering anything else. Salad bar is eh. Pasta ok. But the eggplant... now that's another story. Its layered sort of like lasagna. Thin slices of eggplant with just the right amount of coating and cheese between the slices. Smothered with a just right gravy. No overpowering extra spices and you can really taste eggplant. Had some really great pizza here last night...the leaning tower was a beacon in the freak October snowstorm. I had some tasty fried raviolis that were crisp and cheesy and not at all oily. The highlight was the pizza we got on the best wheat crust that has ever graced my lips. I added broccoli and chicken for a truly fab pizza orgasm. The place was warm and friendly. I sat at the bar and had a lively conversation with some of the locals and a businessman passing through. Drinks were had and some jokes exchanged. Its hard to review Prince Pizzeria. You can't judge this place just based on the food or the decor. You really do have to take the history into account. If this were any other restaurant, I would probably give it three stars (maybe even two). I remember going here as a kid so it is an experience going back. The food has not changed much. I remember how amazing it was when I was young but today is seems just okay... okay..... Its outdated. The crust on the pizza is very rich, almost like a pastry.. It is definitely not amazing pizza. The other food is just okay too.. We also had the wings and pasta... it is better than some lower level chains like applebee's... But the real allure of this place is the fact that they have not changed in forty years. Its a blast from the past. The hilltop is similar but that place is sad. Prince seems to still have quite a bit of life in it. They are clean, and there is still quite a bit of energy coming from the families who frequent it with their children. Overall, its affordable decent food. And the process of ordering at the counter and then waiting for your name to be called is fun.. I wouldnt recomend it for a first date but if you have children or you want to go with friends to chill out.. its great... There are plenty of place trying to make more contemporary types of pizza. Prince Pizza's buffet is awesome. When I work 1 - 9pm at my job, I make sure to go there at least twice during the work week. It fill me up for the whole day! The buffet has a very nice selection of pizzas. Eggplant is my favorite. Be sure to go to the buffet on non-school vacation and non-holiday weeks if you do not want to wait in line. The people working there are very friendly and the restaurant is clean and neat. I really enjoy eating my pizza buffet while watching one of their big flat screen tv's. Only if they had their chicken fingers and/or meatballs during the Monday - Friday buffet ,the whole buffet experience would be taken to another level. Price Pizzeria is famous and every kid on the North Shore has memories of Prince. It seems like my family has been there for every occasion good and bad, Bowling banquet , First communion, after we buried nana, 5th grade field trip and Wedding rehearsal dinner and now Company holiday party. You get the point this place is like our second home and family. The food no it not the best italian food North of the North End, but it is a great deal and fill you till your stuffed. Historically, I have always enjoyed going to Prince Pizza. I was recently visiting family in Saugus and decided to order a large cheese pizza to go. Crust was, as always, nice and crunchy. However, the cheese topping was barely detectable. When I opened the box top, what I saw was crust and sauce, with a hint of cheese - barely detectable. This is completely opposite from the beautiful, nice cheese pizza picture that was posted near the register that had so much cheese on it, you could barely see any sauce at all. Maybe this is a one off, but are times that tough that we need to skimp on the cheese but still charge a hefty price for the pizza ($13 and change). read more

We were there last night for a Fund Raising for my daughters school. First thing you call your large pizza large, its not large 13 inch pizza is between small and large almost medium. Very overpriced, the pizza was a 2 out of 10. I ordered the Veal Parm with Ravioli. The veal was horrible could not even cut it, very chewy and ravioli was well under-cooked. If it wasn't for the fund raiser I would brought the food back and ask for them to refire it.Not worth the $60.00 we spent there last night Pizzeria Regina a Million time better. read more

I just had my daughter's baby shower here. The food was outstanding! We had the pizza buffet with chicken/ziti/broccoli and sausages with potatoes and peppers. All of my guest raved about the food! I would give this place 2.5 stars but it is always consistent. Been coming here since I was a kid, loved their buffets. But it is what it is, average food with great location. It is great for large parties and functions. The only things that really stand out are the bread, salad bar, and Goldfish. Everything else is just meh. My favorite pizza around! Definitely a matter of taste though- this is not a typical italian style pizza. The crust is amazing and the pizza is very light. 2 slices probably equals 1 of a slice anywhere else. It's a big restaurant that's good for kids parties. I would not recommend getting the half-cooked bake at home pizzas from Prince though... they never taste the same. I think Prince is probably over-priced, but you can't get pizza like this anywhere else. read more

Prince Pizza Route 1 Saugus is literally the best place I have EVER dealt with! Last year I booked my son's 1st bday there and put down a deposit. He got sick the day of and I had to cancel the party. One year later Steve at Prince remembered and allowed me to use that entire deposit towards catering his 2nd bday party at my house. You order food at the counter when you walk in. The guy at the register was staring at us uncomfortably. Then we had to find our own seats. A server brought us our drinks but we had no waitress. The guy from the cash register brought us our main entree. They didn't bring any silverware. I had to go to the counter and find a fork. The grilled chicken with sides of spaghetti and broccoli was the worst food I've eaten in a long time. I ate the grilled chicken after loading it with salt and parmesan cheese. It tasted like it was previously frozen and they grilled it adding a burnt charred taste. I could not eat the spaghetti, it had a plastic taste. The sauce was bland. The broccoli tasted like it was frozen and microwaved. My wife's hamburger wasn't much better, it had the same burnt taste. She wanted mayo but there was no one to ask. We celebrated our Grandson's 1st b'day in the Casterberti Room @ Prince Pizzeria. The pizza was delicious and endless. There were so many varieties and never was there a time when any trays were empty. The salad was fresh with delicious dressing. The penne pasta was perfect with a side of sauce that was equally delicious. Both Steve and Joe were very easy to deal with when making arrangements. They did everything they could to accommodate us. Kudos go to the wait staff and the bartenders, especially to Kerstin who made this event so easy yet she worked so hard. We are Italian and love our pizza and pasta! My family and I love Prince and have been going there for years. We have had birthday parties and other celebrations there which have always exceeded our expectations. The food is very good and they do things right! As restaurants are just beginning to open up with outdoor dining, we were anxious to get out but concerned about our safety, as well. We wanted to go where we felt safe and can trust the staff is complying with all new rules and regulations. So we chose Prince! The first thing that caught my eye and set me at ease is that they set up a nice tent adjacent to their building with huge cement barriers all around to prevent any issues with cars accidentally driving into it. That must have been costly to do, but keeping customers and employees safe is definitely a priory here. So we definitely went in! Tables and chairs were at least 6 feet apart, if not more, which also put us at ease. They were doing extra cleaning between customers and all staff were wearing masks and gloves. We got the same great service and the food was delicious! Their restrooms were spotless and the outside doors were open for more ventilation through the area. They checked off all the boxes for us to feel comfortable about dining out again! I highly recommend dining at Prince's outdoor tent! We will definitely be back soon! read more

I'm 28 years old and I have been coming here my whole life. Fantastic crust. This is the type of pizza where you can just get cheese and its great. Mozzarella sticks, buffalo tenders, and onion rings are all high quality grade A. Service is SUPER fast. It's a fun atmosphere where they call your name for your food and drinks. Some upper crust snobs may not like that, but get over it, its a family restaurant. Salad bar, fresh bread and soft serve ice cream to start and finish the meal. But its the Pizza---- that makes this place a legend. Everyone I bring here for the first time becomes a fan and brings their own first timers afterwards.
