This diner is delicious and nice to the wallet! The staff were all incredibly friendly. We visited with a big group, and all our orders were served quickly and around the same time. It definitely satisfied our brunch cravings. It was the perfect meal before our road trip back home to Chicago!

I was on my way out of town and I really like stopping at a new place for breakfast to start my journey and this was the place. The menu isn't huge but it had gyros and eggs which sounded good until I asked if they were real gyros off the spit, no there not I was told. The place is old looking with local regulars gathering on a Sunday morning who all know each other. The woman working the floor sounded like the owner while talking to her and was very friendly, she was welcoming to everyone. Even though I know the country fried steak would be fake frozen crap I ordered it because it's better than fake gyros and I love country fried steak. My breakfast took a bit but it looked amazing with 3 sunny side up eggs, country fried steak smothered in country gravy and golden hash browns with requested onions. The Texas toast is a favorite of mine and it's hard to find at most breakfast restaurants but it was a pleasant surprise and good, this is how you start a weekend road trip off right. This was such a great comfort food breakfast meal to start a weekend getaway and it was how the whole weekend went.

2x2x2 with hashbrowns and toast included! (I ate some of my eggs already lol)

Looking for a fast, friendly, affordable breakfast place? THIS IS IT. An amazing local restaurant with great food. A group of 4 of us went for breakfast on a Saturday morning and were seated right away and taken care of. I didn't get a picture of the menu but they have MANY options. I had the 2x2x2 which was under 10$ !!!! Highly recommended. I will be back again.

Love coming here! Hilda runs a great place! The food is excellent and the ambiance is chill. Always home-cooked have a great meal here. Thank you so much for making us feel welcome

Pig in a blanket. Classy and always good :)

I was a bit judgy upon walking in for a few reasons; 1. The place we wanted to eat had too long of a wait so this was a hail Mary decision 2. LOTS OF KIDS when we walked in 3. Kinda dirty grungy diner where you question the kitchen cleanliness as well. Either way service was great and the food was average. Not great or bad. I of course ordered the classiest dish on the menu of pigs in a blanket which were executed as I would expect. I could tell the sausage was of the cheaper variety. My friend got the gypsy skillet and LOVED it :)

Awesome little diner place near the Alpine Valley ski resort where we were staying. After a full day on the slopes, this place was just what we needed! They have huge portions of comfort food and very fair prices. The service was also very prompt. Overall, great place :)

Stopped for a Friday morning breakfast with my wife..the place was 1/3 filled and greeted by owner Hilda(I think that's her name) with a sincere welcome, the place looks clean inside and out. Hilda stated last year renovations were done including outside paint, Windows, multiple remodeling inside.. We both had skillets and coffee, both skillets were wonderful with fresh coffee.. It's a small diner with a nice atmosphere that will draw us there again

No central air! It's going to be 86 degrees today!

It was horrible, had to ask another patron if they even had menus…read more We ordered simple food thinking it was going to be good, it took about 25 minutes to cook a pancake, when we walked in - they had huge bags of potatoes on the floor so we were like "Oh this will be good" ... Not - my husband received frozen hash browns rather than fresh. His food was burnt and then the waitress gave us the wrong bill, I didn't notice until after we left - I always take a picture of my bill. Also, by the time we arrived home both of us were sick. I do not recommend this place, and all we wanted to do was to support our local businesses - but were treated like we didn't belong. Sad - Oh and the health inspector should pay a visit.

The very definition of a hole-in-the-wall greasy-spoon diner…read more 1. Limited counter seating? Check. 2. Locals-only regulars? Check. 3. Outdated décor? Check. 4. Sassy server? Check. 5. Huge portions? Check. 6. Great food cooked expertly? Check. 7. Absurdly low prices? Check. Setting foot in Scottie's is like stepping back in time...in the best way possible. Finding a seat is pure luck; show up early or be prepared to wait, but know that you will be waiting outside, because there isn't an inch of spare room inside. If you do find a coveted spot, grab it because it won't be there long - and be prepared to rub shoulders and knees with the person next to you. Don't worry; that's all part of the experience. You might not know them when you first arrive, but you'll be best friends by the time you leave. Pro tip: the cook is not Scottie. There is no Scottie anymore. Presumably there was a Scottie once, but his whereabouts are unknown. At least to me. Jackie is amazing. If you've seen "Alice," she is the embodiment of Flo. I'm kinda shocked I haven't heard her tell someone to "Kiss my grits!" yet. She delivers good-natured sass just as frequently as plates of steaming hot food. Again, all part of the experience. Your food is cooked to order in front of you, so you know it's fresh. Even if the place is packed it won't take long, because there are only a handful of seats. And about that food: it's damn good. You can't go wrong with any of the skillets. The biscuits and gravy are wonderful. The toast, slathered with melted butter? Heavenly. The pancakes are enormous and awesome. The coffee, hot and delicious. Best of all, when you're handed your check, you will invariably mutter out loud, "That's it?!" The prices are insanely low. They're what you might have paid for breakfast in the 1980s. Two people can easily walk out of there stuffed and only $15 poorer. Tip Jackie well. She deserves it. It may be hot in there. It will definitely be cramped in there. You might see a fly or two. You'll leave smelling like grease. But you will be happy and satisfied and already planning your next visit. Besides, like I said... All part of the experience.
