We booked a trip with Princess Cruises because the dates worked for our family -- big mistake. Despite reserving three suites in the Reserve Collection, the customer service was virtually nonexistent. Communication was incredibly poor, especially regarding what was included in the premium package. It honestly felt like they were doing everything possible to prevent us from using the extras we had paid for. we received zero information regarding embarkation etc. and the ports didn't match what we had booked and we didn't discover until we received the shore excursion. the sailing map continued to show Puerto Vallarta although they had changed the itinerar. To top it off, I called them today after seeing onboard charges on my credit card, simply to request a copy of our final bill. After 20 minutes on the phone, during which I provided extensive identification, I was told they couldn't send me a copy. Unbelievable. The French fries were perfect! Buffet was SAD. The person provisioning the ship did a terrible job! They ran out of Diet Coke and most common beers quickly. On a positive side the crew was wonderful! Nice, friendly and would do anything for you. The Senior Staff knew one response 'No' . This was the Ruby Princess, San Francisco to Hawaii on 2/20-3/8 2025. 5 Night Comedy Themed Cruise - San Francisco to San Diego to Ensenada, Mexico - Royal Princess First and last cruise experience ever. Thanks Princess Cruises. Service: Everything took forever. Sometimes the servers were great but most of the time you can't get their attention and they look like chickens running around with their heads cut off. It seems like their handhelds for taking orders never worked. Entertainment: lacking...was so bored. There were a few comedy shows and other shows that were not very interesting. Wish we could have seen the ship itinerary prior to booking the cruise. Food: mediocre. It's all the same food wherever you dine on the ship. All meats on the ship was dry and overcooked. Don't let the menus in the dining rooms trick you. Only difference is that you have to wait extra long for your dishes if you want it served to your table. You can grab your food at the buffet and finish eating before the server brings you your main course in the dining rooms. Drinks: How do you run out of a bottle of alcohol at one bar and ask us to search other bars on the ship for the same drink? Wouldn't someone just replenish that bar with a new bottle. Didn't know I was supposed to do your job for you. Specialty Dining: Don't waste your money on specialty dining. It's not all that special. Just wait until you dock and eat at a real restaurant. Plating looks nice and that's it. App: their app is crap. Need to constantly reload or restart. Always inaccurate when trying to locate shipmates on the ship. So annoying trying to view activities of the day. Lag makes scrolling difficult. Wifi: Sucked. Never again. *sigh* read more

Rude was the first impression I had about the service in general. I never in my life had to clear my own plate in a restaurant. While dining in the specialty restaurant, The Catch by Rudi, the table's waiter asked me to clear my own plate as he putting my next dish down. This is simply unacceptable at any restaurant, on land or at sea. I was attending the returner captain's circle party with my husband. This bartender prepared my drink and left it on the counter for at least 15 minutes. I saw the drink sitting there on the bar counter. When I asked for another drink, they tried to give the melted drink to me. When I asked for another one, this female bartender was giving us attitude regarding a new drink. We were standing in line at the International Cafe to get our snack. Two guests in front of us were ordering the mango cheesecake. The server took the tray with the last two pieces out of the display. The guest later changed her mind and only accepted one mango cheesecake. The server left the piece on the back counter. When it was my turn to order, I asked for the mango cheesecake. She said they were out. I pointed to the one left on the back counter and said I want that one. She then told me that was a left over if I still want it. I was pretty upset at the fact that she lied straight to my face as I saw where the piece of cake came from. My husband and I were up on the buffet sitting at a table enjoying our meal. This server who was carrying a tray of dirty dishes was collecting more dishes from this table next to us. Without any communication to us, he put his tray of dirty dishes on our table in front of us and went ahead to collect dishes from another table. He came back, picked up the tray, and left. Let me ask you this, what would you feel as a customer going on a cruise with the intention to relax coming back home with these unpleasant memories. There are many more details that I am leaving out here as I feel it's simply a waste of my time as I don't believe further actions on your part can help to bring the type of bad quality of service to a better level. I simply don't want to gamble again, wasting my money and time in the future, to hope that your product can bring a true vacation type of enjoyment. On the other hand, remarkable experiences I had included our stateroom attendant Allan. He was attentive to our requests and did a great job maintaining a cozy room. Another staff member who was worth mentioning was the gentleman up in the buffet area. Luis from Mexico proactively served our preferred beverages without us asking for them. Lastly, their end of cruise survey was pathetic, not allowing much comments. No wonder their service stay poor, as they don't have time to listen to their guests for improvement. read more

The only other line we've ever cruised on besides Regal Princess was an Alaska Cruise on The Holland Westerdam 2022. I will base my review comparing these 2 lines. Actually, there is no comparison! Holland is 100 times better then Princess could ever dream about. Princess tries to appeal to all ages. Just doesn't work! First - I love children. But my Wife and I raised 2 of them and now we don't want to deal with their screaming, running, and hollering while on a vacation. Then there are many areas taken up by 20ish - 40ish. They want to party, drink, barely cover themselves, and act like asses. That's ok - just not interested in being around them; but you have to be; you can't get away from them! Princess tries to separate the different ages into different parts of the ship, but once again, it just doesn't work. We want to enjoy a show that appeals to mature ages: 50ish - and older. There's not many venues for our age of people. The piped in music as you're walking around the various decks, is catered toward youngies. Next, the buffet and food courts: Princess totally sucks compared to Holland. Most meals including bread or whatever seems like it was cooked last year. On Holland everything was fresh, tasty and satisfying. Holland has a dozen different kinds of ice cream. The food courts were out of this world. Princess - you get vanilla, chocolate, or a swirl of both. The room on Princess was very nice, on par with Holland. The staff on Princess was very good, but Holland staff was outstanding! Holland is devoted to their passenger experiencing history, learning something, and is nicely paced. Princess is more concerned with drinking, partying, and youth activities. I didn't post this review to argue. Maybe you like Princess, and that's ok. Just not another chance we'll ever sail on Princess again. We'll base our future cruises on Holland. read more

They said it would take TWO MONTHS for a refund AND they would only refund $3,000 since "I took it home already." Are you kidding me? First of all, when I first booked for the cruise, after receiving the confirmation email, I called back to inform them of the disagreement, and asked for a refund. They said the penalty was $270 each person. I disagreed and asked to talk to the supervisor, and she agreed to cancel and would give me full refund. After 3 days, without the cancellation email, I called back and someone else said it was still active, and that forced me to keep the reservation. Secondly, about 2 weeks before sailing, specifically on April 17th, I called in to cancel for 25% refund. They said it would take about 10 - 15 working days to credit me the refund. I have called them 5 times since then, and after 7 weeks, I still haven't received it yet. I sent email to customer relations and they just ignored me. I canceled before sailing with the hope that I someday sail with them again, but with this dishonest behaviour, I will never travel with this company ever. read more

My husband and I just took a 5 day cruise out of San Pedro, to Ensenada, to San Francisco, back to San Pedro. We enjoyed ourselves, and we felt like the daily itineraries had something for everyone. Weather can't be predicted but it was smooth sailing for those five days. Food was... okay. I wouldn't go on again expecting anything special. The dining room was frustrating because despite making reservations through their app for private dining... many times we were placed at a "shared table." Don't get me wrong, sometimes we liked chatting with the others, but sometimes we just wanted to focus on ourselves. Everything was clean. Our steward didn't go above and beyond like you hear some do but we always had what we needed in our room. We do plan on booking again for 2024. read more

We went on two cruises previously with this line, aboard the Ruby Princess, to the Mexican Riviera (Cabo San Lucas/ Puerta Vallarta/ Mazatlan- I should mention that we went on Norwegian our very first time to the Mexican Riviera- and that was an excellent experience; three cruises for us total, just to give you an idea) and on January 5th, due to a nine car accident: https://news3lv.com/news/local/crash-closes-southbound-i-15-on-california-side-south-of-primm-expect-delays shutting down the I-15 freeway, near Primm, we could not drive to the port of San Pedro (LA, CA). Honestly, we were on the road at 8:30 am (we do also have dash cam evidence to support this fact), the accident took place at 8:10 am; but we didn't know what was happening until (1) we looked it up on our cell phone and (2) we were getting re-routed to turn back to Las Vegas (but we asked a NDOT worker what was happening). The freeway didn't open up until 4 pm, and even then, was only at one lane of operation. (Boarding stops at 3 pm.) My husband spoke to two CSR's, who then instructed him to contact customer service, via email. One of them suggested we could meet the ship at one of the ports (news flash: we are not millionaires who have a jet at our disposal- that is terribly unrealistic). My husband got a reply call noting that our case would be investigated, but the final decision could take up to four weeks. All we were requesting was a voucher for a future cruise (yes, our son was disappointed that we couldn't make it, but honestly, it was completely out of our hands). Laura spoke with my husband, rather, coldly, stating unfortunately there was nothing that they could for us. Being that we cruised with two different cruise lines, I can tell you the major difference with Norwegian and Princess is cleanliness. On Norwegian, we saw so many crew members cleaning many parts of the ship. The first time we cruised with Princess, we witnessed very few cleanings, maybe once (and I am not even lying about that). The second time we cruised with Princess, there was an improvement, because we saw more cleaning taking place (we saw a handful of crew members cleaning). I also noticed that on two or more times that one of the bathrooms on a busy deck, for women, was lacking any paper products at all, but I did remember seeing a cleaning basket was left behind (I didn't see any of that on Norwegian). Our son went to the children's center twice (both times with Princess), and got sick, twice, being exposed to more germs than usual. read more

Told to go to one line. 30 min later told they aren't opening that door and told to go up to another line that is now wrapped around the building and into the parking lot by the buses. Issue? I've been on four cruises with four different cruise lines and Princess is at the top. First, check in was smooth and easy. The medallion is cool. You walk up to the bar snd they know who you are. The rooms are clean and the room stewards are very attentive. I loved that my room wash freshened three times a day. My favorite things: order coffee in the balcony at 630 in the morning, margarita, guacamole and chips at 439 on the balcony. The specialty restaurants are ok, but only because service in Bordeaux and Provence is so good you feel like you are having a specialty dinner. We ate with different t people every evening. We could have chosen the same table at the same time but wanted to meet more people. The spa was good and the workout room was adequate. It didn't have a view but that was ok. I was on the ship for 14 days and I will absolutely go back for another long cruise. I found the longer cruise gave a personal chance to really relax. Super fun! read more

The embark process at San Pedro terminal could be so much better if they just had signs. If you have luggage tags already affixed to your suitcases just drop the luggage off with the porters standing across the street from the passenger entrance on the far LEFT side of the road as you drive past the ship. It's not marked. Porters are wearing safety vests next to luggage carts. After dropping off your luggage you can cross the street and get in line to enter the passenger entrance area. Get there early!!! Took 40 minutes to drop off the luggage. There is a parking lot but it's fenced with a passenger walkway at the farthest point from where Princess is parked. It's been 2 hours and still not onboard. Been standing in line with my 82 yr old aunt and 79 yr old mother with no bathroom in sight and no seating to rest. Good luck to anyone traveling soon from the San Pedro/Longbeach Pier. read more

In order to get ocean ready everything has to be completely paid off. Once you're getting ocean ready it asks you to print your travel summary your luggage tags and your flight information just in case you have any problems you have proof of what you purchased and proof of your flight and your luggage tags. We get to the boat and as we're boarding there's crew members trying to sell you drink packages and I told the crew member I already have it crew member checks my Medallion and says no you don't you should go see customer service we've been at customer service for all everyday for 7 days straight at least an hour to 2 hours trying to get this resolved I have it on my travel summary they say they don't see it on my profile then they said that I was going to get a refund because it's an old package that is no longer available and they have a new drink package so they're going to refund me it's going to take 10 to 15 business days and so they charge me another​. As we speak to one of the managers she said she's going to try to get me a refund for both charges due to the inconvenience and that never happened so all we ever had was sorry after Story lie after lie. Not to mention being charged double charges and getting overdraft charges on my bank. so much of a headache I'll never cruise princess again read more

I received an email from Princess in January with an offer that was amazing!! The Best Sale Ever!! 7 night California coastal cruise for $299 round trip from San Pedro with all the extras included! The offer was good for 3 days only. I called Princess that same day. I couldn't believe it. Included tips ( $16.50 per person per day), beverages (alcohol), wifi, one specialty dinner, and room upgrade. When I saw my email confirmation, it mentioned only the room upgrade. I called back right away and was told "Don't worry about it, you'll get everything." Yeah, right. It never happened. A few days before sailing, I called again. They said all I get is the room upgrade. I said I wanted all the specials, so they put them on. Then I was charged $585!!! with a message to pay immediately or I wouldn't be allowed to board the ship. I called back again and waited forever to talk to the top level of service. I spent 4 HOURS on the phone that day. I had the $585 charge removed. This was my 20th Princess cruise and I was treated like that. So much for rewarding loyalty . I am so angry and disappointed. I had a great time taking the cruise back home from Long Beach. Ok, so I can confirm that yes cruises mean lots of food and you basically eat eat and eat. I think I gained weight by eating so much. There were other shows on the cruise ship as well. Like comedy show, musical performance and etc. I have noticed that most of the events are tailored toward the older crowds. Yes there were lots of older people or seniors on the cruise. The reason why I took it was to bring my parents along. They had a great time. We also noticed the service here were excellent. Yes the steward there super friendly and talkative. Awesome people. The cruise was really relaxing. One issue is that internet on the cruise is super expensive. Same with text and phone call through the carrier, cellular at sea. Also do get the balcony cabins. You are paying a little bit more but its worth it. Its a lot more relaxing and the view is way more gorgeous. read more

Some cruises are better than others either because of the food or for the service. This review is specifically for the Royal Princess. We took a 7 night Mexican Riviera cruise as a winter getaway out of Los Angeles. We are experienced cruisers and this was our 5th time on Princess. Embarkation was quick and easy. Lines were short to check in and the wait to board the ship wasn't long either. The Royal Princess is only 7 years old but is starting to seem a little dated with all the gold. Overall she was is good shape and we didn't have any maintenance issues on board. The crew was excellent with the majority being friendly and helpful. A big plus for us is the adults only retreat pool, it offers peace and quiet away from the kids. The cabins are average size with a very small bathroom. The beds are extremely comfortable. Entertainment was so so with the production shows being below average and a couple good guest entertainers. Now for the food. This was a major downfall of the Royal. The quality of the meats were very poor. Beef and lamb were tough and chewy, the fish was very salty and fishy tasting. The food in the buffet also left much to be desired. It really was a disappointing dining experience that knocked off 2 stars. This cruise did its purpose of getting some R&R and enjoying the warm weather. We have had worse and we have had better. read more

This was only my third cruise (first on Princess) so I am not the expert that some other reviewers are. We went on a 7-day Mexico cruise over Thanksgiving 2019. Overall , it was a great vacation and good value. Service: Fantastic from start to finish. Customer service had almost no hold time on the phone and answered questions quickly . Everyone was friendly on the ship, from the room stewards to the dining staff. However , there was some misinformation here and there . For example ,some information on their website did not match reality. Our board time was very inaccurate. We were told in print and over the phone that we could not board until 2pm. When we arrived at 11am with expectations of waiting around, we were surprised to learn boarding had been open since 10. Food: more quantity than any of my other cruises, but not necessarily the best quality at buffets or restaurants. Food on Norwegian was much better, and Carnival no worse . The variety and options were insane, I have never seen anything like it. Everything is well organized. Each restaurant meal took exactly 2 hours , as each course is timed . This was fine , but may be difficult for families with young children. It also makes it difficult to do anything else in the evenings. Because we had a party of 9, we needed a reservation to dine in the dining room. The only options were 5pm or 730. We brought our own soda , non-alcoholic drinks were $5.50 each. Alcoholic drinks much more and the packages don't seem like a value unless you plan to drink A LOT. Cleanliness: top notch Excursions : expensive, but that is expected. We booked one resort pass through the cruise , and it was great. However , they did not tell us which resort was included, and said they would not know until the day of. The $89 excursion was for 4 hours and transportation to the Hyatt. Had we known , we could have purchased the same day pass for $65 directly from the Hyatt. With a large family, $ adds up. Entertainment: The entertainment was one of the biggest disappointment for me . Our last cruise on Norwegian had fun shows , games, and events throughout. This just did not . We tried a few things , and they were not the quality we expected AT ALL. Ocean now app: This just sucks . Worked half the time for half the party. There are some great uses for this in theory (putting all privacy and security issues associated with being monitored aside) but just didn't work. When it did, it crashed often . Other: expect internet to be expensive on any cruise. I was happy to have my phone off for a week . read more

We have enjoyed Princess cruises out of Florida for years, and elected to try a Mexican Riviera cruise out of Long Beach on the Royal Princess- BIG MISTAKE!! Situated mid ship on the starboard side (that's the right side for you non-Navy readers) is a series of suites which have outside decks-our preference. Also situated here is a walkway for ALL THE OTHER PASSENGERS TO HAVE A DIRECT VIEW OF OUR PATIO AND, IF THE DRAPES AREN'T PULLED, INTO OUR SUITE!!! There is ABSOLUTELY no privacy with these suites, yet you pay extra for the view of the ocean. On this cruise not only was our view of the ocean obstructed, but we were constantly being asked questions or having tourists TAKE OUR PICTURE! Crew and staff, as always, is superb with Princess and we will continue to book with them, but if you're booking on this ship - CHOOSE THE PORT (LEFT) SIDE OF THE SHIP. read more

My parents and I went on a seven day Mexican Rivera cruise last month. Everyone that I talked to aboard were very friendly and courteous. There were plenty to do during the week long cruise (comedy shows, dancing, seeing movies either in the Princess Theater or Movies Under the Stars, gambling in the casino, shopping, etc.). It was a great pleasure visiting the three different ports of call. However it was not as wonderful as the cruise that I had taken aboard another Princess Cruise Ship that I had taken a year ago. It took much longer to get used to the 7th floor. The food was not nearly as good. No advanced notice on no smoking nights in the casino. And finally it didn't have Alfredo's Pizzeria which the Grand Princess has. All in all, my folks and I had a wonderful time and we look forward to taking Princess Cruises to another destination in the future. read more

Very rude and unprofessional Check-in staff and mangers for Royal Princess Cruise Seattle port.(Coco the employee, Clint and Melissa Melchior the managers, threatened customers) -5 of the staffs took almost 10 mins to check if I have Canada VISA when I have Green Card; -The Princess employee Coco should have communicated with customer before walking away with my IDs. She stepped away and later returned, but there was no explanation of what had happened during our wait.-I have the scanned Marriage Certificate with the name change on hand, but I didn't get an opportunity to show it, because no one asked me and communicated with me. -Clint, one of the managers, threatened us by calling for security after I asked for his full name. He warned that he would involve security and have us removed from the ship if we didn't leave* Melissa Melchior, the director, approached me with a security guard and blamed all on me without offering an apology.* As a customer, I felt that all of this occurred due to discrimination and racism. During the waiting time, I noticed that 4-5 Princess employees were gathered together, repeatedly inspecting my documents.
