My husband and I drive to Lexington at least once a month but never stop to check out the wineries while we are on the way. We decided to try Prodigy because it was the first one we say on the road sign and it was open (a lot of places were closed due to the snow). The property is beautiful. It's very spacious and has a very nice view of an open field. We were also greeted by the sweetest cats. One walked right up to us when we got out of the car and immediately wanted to be petted. We were greeted at the tasting room by more affectionate cats and dogs! The tasting room has a bunch of decorated shelves with the bottles ready for purchase and a lot of horse themed items. We decided to go a tasting which comes with 6 different wines. The presentation was my favorite part because each wine was in a different beaker. We enjoyed the wine. My husband loved the blueberry wine so much, he bought a bottle right on the spot. We absolutely loved Prodigy and hope to come back soon. read more

This was a nice relaxing stop. There was a guitar singer playing some good music. If you are a fan of dogs there are 2 large friendly dogs here for petting. This winery is also located in the area of a few distilleries and chocolate locations. We did a couple flights and all the wines were very good. read more

I can say the ambiance was good because I saw a lot of it as I stood at their bar for over 15 minutes with zero acknowledgement from the 4 bar tenders working. People came in afterwards and got served . Guess you need to know their names. The place was not crowded. My group left and found bourbon. read more

We got in on a Saturday, the place was slammed and they were short staffed. One of the chairs we sat in at the bar were broke. There were dirty glasses sitting on the counter, and the counters were not clean at the bar. The customer service wasn't that great at all. We ordered wine and had to wait 30-45 mins because they were so backed up. The wine was okay, but we were just ready to get out of there by the time it was all said and done. read more

Such a friendly spot to cozy up by the fire and enjoy some wine. The service is so kind and generous. We visited on a chilly afternoon so it was nice to have seats on the couch in front of their fire place. I partook in one of the wine tastings which was not your usual presentation. I enjoyed all the different tastes and smells the wines presented. I can't say enough good things about the staff and how they treated us. It feels like family. I would recommend this winery visit to anyone in the Frankfort area. Such a cute spot and even kid friendly. The customer service was phenomenal, they had a fun selection of wines along with merchandise. The wines were very good to decent for the area and the snacks hit the spot. Prodigy came across my search for wineries just outside of Lexington. The inside is very rustic with the traditional wine counter, tables to sit at, and a lot of items for purchase- clothes, cups, hats, and more. A tasting comes with 6 samples for $12 each; very reasonable! The wines were good but nothing we thoroughly enjoyed. Most were on the sweeter side even if listed as dry. Terribly slow service. It wasn't very busy. There were two people working. We weren't getting food just some wine flights. And we had a time line since we had reservations at a distillery. I usually don't give bad reviews but we ordered and waited and waited and others came in and we were served out of order but out of order and not at all are different things. I made the mistake of ordering a charcuterie board no even asked if that would take too long. We were going to just leave, which again I never do, but then 30 minutes in half of us got our drinks. Wow I can't believe I hadn't been to this winery until now. There were so many great wines in our tasting. My favorites were the Chardonel, Pinot noir, Traminette, Riesling, raspberry wine, and port. I love how they use test tubes for the tasting flight as well. Nice visual touch! The only drawback is that you need to pour each tasting into the same glass so you need to be prepared to rinse out your glass after each sample if you don't want the wines mixing. The scenery is beautiful here and I can't wait to go back in the spring or summer when it is green and even more beautiful. The property is really nice to take a walk and see horses, chickens, and cats as well. read more

We enjoy the ambiance of prodigy winery. The selection of wine is wonderful and the service is always excellent. My favorite wine is the Black Dog Blues. It's very sweet. Prodigy offers a wine flight for $8 and you receive a complimentary free wine glass to keep as a souvenir. They have a wine club for additional discounts and festivities. Their charcuterie board was also excellent. Their gift shop also has many wonderful trinkets and gifts. We will definitely be back! read more

We stopped at this beautiful winery on our way out of town. It is set on breathtaking views of horse pastures. The inside is rustic, with a lot of souvenirs right at the front, that kind of separates the bar where you order/check out and some indoor tables. I think it would be better placed to a side, but maybe marketing works out better that way for them. The server was very nice. We ordered a flight with charcuterie. The flights are served in test tubes in a stand which was unique, although we still had a glass to pot into. I prefer having glasses where I don't have to pour other wines into an already used glass so I can get the right flavors without mixing wines, but it was just a fun stop, not an official wine tasting experience. The wines were surprisingly good, except one that we did not like at all, but that's how wine goes. They were semi-sweet, not as sweet as I expected for the region, and palatable. I prefer dry wines personally, and I ended up purchasing 4 to take home. read more

I found this family owned winery to be incredibly charming. They provide a robust wine selection as well as various other refreshments. (Try the Bourbon slushie!) The pizza and and charcuterie board were the perfect accompaniment throughout my tasting experience. The staff and Management were incredibly knowledgeable and attentive to my questions and needs. They were actually setting up to host a wedding while I was there and I was absolutely blown away with the detail and beauty of the space. They have horses, chickens, ducks, and even Alpacas on the farm. I can honestly say I found Prodigy Winery to be a central Kentucky wonder with something unique to offer all of its visitors! read more

This winery is very hit and miss with me. Sometimes it's great and we make an afternoon out of it. Other times, it's just eh. My latest visit was more on the eh side. First off, I appreciate the precautions they are taking with Covid. Staff is wearing masks and customers are asked to wear masks unless seated. The tastings have moved to test tubes. As you receive a complimentary glass with the tasting, I would have preferred to receive the glass at the beginning of the visit so that I could pour the test tube into a glass. I felt like I was going wine shooters and couldn't really enjoy the wine. We also got a cheese tray. It was just ok. 3/4 different cheeses with 4/5 slices each, a handful of nuts, a bit of mustard and some minced looking something (we didn't taste it because it just didn't look appetizing). Maybe we should have asked for a knife but it was kind of weird that we weren't given anything to spread the mustard and soft cheese with. I do enjoy the wine and already had several bottles at home so I didn't make a purchase this visit. The test tube situation was a bit strange and kind of put me off of making this a winery to visit again. Maybe it's just a Covid change though, so I'll keep my options open in the future. read more

We stopped here because we were waiting for our buffalo trace tour to start and its pretty close. I loved pulling up the long driveway next to the rolling field amd pretty horses - there's a view from the small bar of both. They were so friendly and gave us a few more samples outside our tasting just because they thought we would like them. The peach slush was good! read more

This place was a bit difficult to locate. As they have many different buildings. We did arrive and decided to do a wine tasting. The ladies were all very nice. I had all red wines and my wife had whites. I didn't like any of the red wines. All very dry with no hints of berries. I learned that the sweet wine comes from some of the estate grapes. As for the others, originate in the state of KY and parts of the finger lakes. My wife enjoyed the wines. Inside it was more a store than a winery. I didn't feel the vibe. I would like to give one star for the bartender who was so great and friendly, love hanging out with her (i think her name is Miska? Sorry, I'm bad with name). Another star for the atmosphere. Without the two, will be zero star. I visited the winery on 6/24/2024, bought back 2 bottles of Vignoles home stored in the wine fridge. I opened one bottle on 6/30, it tasted like pickle juice. I had to throw it out, and opened another bottle which was the same. I even tried to breathe it for 30 min. It is not good quality of wine. I will not go back there again. read more

Okay. This place is awesome. Ian and I stopped here on a whim on our way back to Louisville from Nicholasville. It was a beautiful spring day and we came in during the week in the early afternoon. We were the only ones there when we arrived. The tasting of 6 wines is $6-$8 & that comes with a tasting glass to bring home. You get to choose your flight by circling the wines you want on the menu. COVID wise, I felt very safe. Everyone was wearing masks, there are hand sanitizer things to use, & the markers were labeled "dirty" & "clean." We sat outside because of the beautiful weather and the vibe - there is a water feature outside and the scenery of the horse farms nearby are amazing. Also, they were playing great music on the speakers! It's very zen outside and there's a lot of comfortable seating - I even saw some bonfire pits available to use (it was too warm on this day). Chickens came to greet us! I swear they heard my baby cup of oyster crackers spill over and ran to me. They got really close but were friendly and one even ate a bug off my chair (thanks, girl). The wine itself was very tasty; everything I tried, I liked. I'll definitely be back to visit! read more

Located on a farm in picturesque horse country of Kentucky, this winery has a lot going for it before you take your first sip. The chickens are very friendly and there is a cute little cat as well. There is a warning sign that the horses will bite so as tempting as it was to go to the fence and pet them, I didn't. They have indoor and outdoor seating along with a cute gift shop. The prices are very reasonable in my opinion. A tasting is $5 but comes with 6 samples and a small wine glass to keep. I thought they had a good selection of wines and the tasting are set up to try dry, semi-sweet or sweet, although I'm sure they would let you mix it up too. They had one that was burbon barrel aged which my husband really loved. My favorite was the black dog blue, a sweeter wine. Definitely worth a stop. read more

There are a number of reasons I like this winery. First, everyone there is super nice. Everytime I have gone there I have had great, knowledgeable staff that are willing to accommodate my friends and coworkers. The space is cozy. They have a bar set up for tastings and seating available if you bring some people and want to share a bottle. They also have wine related items for sale. The wine is pretty good and affordable. There are a number of dry wines if that is your thing (it is not my thing). There are some Simi sweets and a few sweets so there is something for everyone. Give this winery a shot. read more

A group of us stopped in on New Year's Eve. They were getting ready for the party they were hosting that night, as well as changing shift. They juggled the four of us and our different tastes very well, considering all the hubbub! They have different pricing for a dry tasting and a sweet tasting...which is alright if you don't want to try both. I prefer mostly sweet, but I know plenty of people who like to try all over the map. It is a really pretty drive out to the winery. And we all had a blast! It wasn't my favorite of the day, and it was clear that they were a little distracted by the NYE event happening latter. It feels very homey and private there. There was just a general coziness to the place, probably because you're so far back from any other road or business. Beautiful winery a little off the highway near Lexington. We enjoyed the wine (a cab franc) and football on far more TVs than I expected at a winery. (And I loved that!). I loved looking at the horses and even made friends with their pet dogs :) Prodigy Vineyards and Winery is located in the heart of the Bluegrass on the Peach Family Farm. Centrally located in Woodford County, KY where great thoroughbred race horses are foaled, and raised. They have been growing their own grapes for over 10 years. The tasting room is spacious and loved the dark bold colors and decor. They have different seating-tables and couches. Along with that they have a boutique shop. My friend and I sat at the bar. The staff was super friendly and very knowledgeable on their wines. Wine tastings are $5.00 which you choose 6 different wines from the list- 1 oz pours (excludes ice wine section) and you get to keep the stemless logo glass after the tasting. My preference is dry reds so this is what I tried: -Meritage Blend which is an american bordeaux-style wine with soft tannin. -Lemberger Estate- Dry, medium-bodied, with soft, approachable tannins. Barrel 9 months. -Chambourcin- Dry, Medium-bodied with oak on the finish. This was my favorite from the list. -Cabernet Franc- A dry, medium-bodied red with rounded mouth-feel with soft tannins. -Cabernet Sauvignon- Their driest red wine, which is medium bodied with a dry finish. My 2nd favorite. -Norton-Dry Red wine- dry with complex tannins. I was not a huge fan of this wine, but it was okay. Their pricing is very reasonable which starts off $12.99+. Besides wine tastings, they do offer by the glass or flights (each wine category different pricing). They also have live contemporary music on fridays (free), events, and a wine club. I really enjoyed my time at Prodigy and highly recommend you drop by to try their wines! The staff is so down to earth! read more
