October. Days after getting nails done.
    Eamon M.

WARNING- FUNGAL INFECTION. Had been using this nail salon for at least 1 year. The results were pretty inconsistent - sometimes good, sometimes not so good, but never great. On my visit at beginning of October I got my nails done, 3 days later two of my gel nails started to come off (the whole nail, not just slightly). Then the next day all my nails were really painful so I took the gel off. Attached is a picture of what my nails looked like immediately afterwards and in the 2 months since. Initially I thought it was that my nails were sensitive to the gel, but have now been told that it is a serious fungal infection which requires prescription medication. I now need to attend the doctor with the possibility of having my nails removed. I'm so embarrassed and angry. I'm hoping the prescription helps to clear this. Steer clear of this place.

I have been going here for awhile now and have been happy with Vivian then she left so I was very sad and thought about going to another place, but I decided to just try another lady and I'm very lucky that Lynn was able to accommodate me. This place is 5 minutes from my house, love the convenience and great service!

Thick, uneven shape, fake looking. 1 hr 20 mins and $36 for this. I didn't even bother having it fixed here.

I came here out of desperation because I needed my nails done for an event the next day, and this location was so close to my house. I originally asked for simple acrylic French tips, by the girl doing my nails recommended gel to prevent damage to my natural nails. I agreed to this, but soon regretted it. My nails were supposed to be oval shaped and rounded like I asked, but she filed them down to near-sharp angles on all my nails. She did way too many layers, making the gel look very thick and fake on my fingers. The white also bled out onto the pink, making the tips look very messy. Two stars for nice workers and a clean store, but unfortunately I expected more for what I'm paying.

$65.00 for a gel pedicure and manicure?!?! What?! I do have to say they did an amazing job taking care of us, helping us pick out my colors, and took their time on my toes and fingernails. We had about a ten minute wait- not bad for a walk in. But damn?! $65?! Next time I pay this amount, find me in Santana Row or Palo Alto- getting a mad spa treatment. Maybe some champagne, a Jacuzzi and a face treatment ...lol I would spend the extra money no problem. But in Evergreen? No thanks.

Acrylic & gelish by the amazing Thu!

I take that back... Thu deserves five stars. I recently switched from only acrylic (tips), to acrylic with a full gelish coat, and Thu delivered again. I'm OBSESSED with my nails! I've gotten gelish at other salons, and again, they never match the perfection of a job that Thu gives. Acrylic + gel is more work, and she still charges me the same. She always makes sure that I have a pillow in my chair so that I can lean back comfortably. I just love her!

After being disappointed my first time, I came back. Although skeptical, I was in dire need of a full set and this place is a quick away from my home. I came to Nga (sp?) as to Tina's recommendation (I came to fix a few broken nails once and liked her) with a request for a full set of ombre powder nails. She was gentle, polite, good at conversation, and took everything I wanted under consideration. Nga is everything I've ever wanted from a nail technician. My nails came out beautiul and she even offered to use a glitter coat over my nails and I only tried it on one nail, I wish I did it on all! Next time! Will definitely be returning. $36 for full set ombre.

Been coming here for a few months now and I never leave disappointed. Definitely an upgrade from the previous place I was going to (pro nails) on McKee. You hearing that saying you get what you pay for... These lady's always have a smile and it doesn't matter who I go to they all do such a great job. But I will say thu is really great at her craft. The manicures are exceptional! And the pedicures are great. They take they're time and make sure I'm always happy.. Big kudos I will never go anywhere else again

I was desperate to remove my old acrylics for a new set and a pedicure when I stumbled upon this place. I was hesitant to try a new place because I've had a hard time find a quality nail salon. However this place was AWESOME. I was seated immediately with Pam and she listened to what I wanted. She offered that I just get a fill to save money because my nails were still good. I appreciate not trying to be sold on something I didn't need! The shape, paint job and care was flawless. The pedicure was so great, with deep cleaning and hot stone massage. And the best part.... THE PRICE!!! I couldn't believe my total compared to many other places I had tried in San Jose. Definitely my only go to spot now! Thank you Professionail!!

I decided to return because it's much closer than driving an extra 30 minutes to Fremont, where I usually get my nails done. The salon itself is clean, but my experience was a little disappointing. When I arrived for my appointment, the check-in process felt awkward because no one really greeted me, it felt like hard stares just because I walked in. Anyways, I had specifically called ahead to book a Gel-X removal and builder gel service, and I made it clear over the phone that I wanted a nail tech who was experienced with builder gel. But it was kind of weird when I came in & checked in, the nail tech proceeded to ask me who I wanted my nails to be done by...but I had to tell her, "oh I requested for a removal & builder gel" Unfortunately, I don't believe the nail tech assigned to me knew how to properly perform a builder gel service. During the application process, she wiped down my nails after she buffed it out and applied a base coat. She then applied two very thick coats of builder gel and didn't flash cure each nail on the first layer... she applied the first thick layer then cured it under the light... The product flooded into the sidewalls, and when applying the second layer, no effort was made to smooth out bubbles or properly refine the shape. The final result is uneven, bumpy, and poorly structured around the sides. I'm not a nail technician, but I've had builder gel done many times by multiple nail techs, so I know what the process generally looks like and what results to expect. What upsets me most isn't even the quality of the nails, it's the fact that I specifically requested someone experienced with builder gel and was assured the service could be done. If the salon had simply been honest and told me they didn't have anyone available who knew how to do builder gel, I would have been completely fine with that and gone elsewhere. Instead, I paid $65 for a service that wasn't performed correctly and now have to walk around for the next few weeks with uneven nails. They're noticeably bumpy, and the sidewalls aren't even. I overheard my nail tech trying to explain builder gel application to another technician during my appointment. From what I could hear and see, the technique being discussed didn't seem correct, which only reinforced my concern that the service was being performed by someone without proper experience or knowledge how to do builder gel. I don't doubt that this salon does good work overall. I've come here in the past for acrylics and gel polish, and I've had friends come here for acrylic sets that always turn out beautiful. That's actually why I felt comfortable booking here again. However, when it comes to builder gel, it would be a hard pass from me. I came into work today and showed my coworker my nails, and the first thing they said was "EW, why is it so uneven and bumpy?" Not something I would want to hear after getting my nails done, but it was that obvious without me pointing it out..

This was probably my fourth time here to Kitchen Nail Bar. I had came here alone maybe twice and…read moreone of the last times with my best friend for a nail day. The previous time where we came here together, we had an amazing nail spa day with sweet nail ladies, so I'm not sure what happened here this time around. My best friend was in town and wanted to get our nails done, so we came here last Friday morning. We booked a mani and a pedi. We checked in and didn't have to wait long for Mymy and Tina to start on our toes. Honestly, our whole pedicure experience well because our ladies were nice and just did their jobs. Here comes the bad part of our experience of when we were getting started on our manicures. We had originally booked two gel pedicure and one gel manicure and one gel builder. We asked if they can do gel builder for both manicure, which they said yes but one of us would have to wait 15 minutes which we said we were fine with. I had Tracy who started on my nails first and for the most part, she was quiet and just did her thing, which I preferred. Sadly, my best friend got Kandy who at first asked my best friend what she wanted for shape and length with the builder gel. My best friend told her she wanted to do a short almond shape. Kandy told her if she wants to do that then she would have to do a longer length, so my friend agreed and said a medium length is fine. I don't think Tracy or Kandy knew this, but we are Vietnamese and can understand everything that is being said!! Because Kandy later proceeded to complain in Vietnamese the ENTIRE manicure about how she doesn't know how she's going to my friend's nails because of what she picked, how she's going to be stuck doing it for a long time, how my friend "insisted" on doing this and how my friend's nails/fingers aren't straight and keep swerving. Tracy was fine for most of my manicure, but there was a couple times she would agree and say "yeah, this lady's fingers too". Halfway through, my best friend and I just stopped talking to each other because I was getting so annoyed of Kandy's complaining. I wished she would've just told us she couldn't do my friend's nail so we could've had another nail tech who would've been happy to do it. I didn't say anything because it was my first time seeing my best friend in months and she really wanted to get her nails done, so I bit my tongue but her complaints started giving me a headache. After Tracy was done with my manicure, she asked me if we were paying separately or together. I told her together, so she punched in the numbers and gave me a total of $295. I gave her $300 in cash and was going to ask for change, but I heard her saying in Vietnamese about how she had little to no change. By the time I looked up after I paid, she had left the table. **I turned over to my friend and told her I had a headache, so I was going to wait outside in the car. I gave her cash to tip everyone after she's done telling her I overheard Tracy saying she didn't really have any change, so my friend can ask her nail lady for change.** When my friend was done and came out 15 minutes later, she told me Tracy came up shocked and complained about how I walked out and didn't tip on a $295 service and how she couldn't believe it - repeating it over and over. I wished she would've waited until my friend was done with her nails, so she could've seen that we were going to tip... My friend said they were a little nicer when she pulled out the cash I gave her to tip, but the whole experience put a really bad taste in our mouths. I won't be back here again.
